The gates

Babygate, troopergate, housegate, emailgate, pixelgate... the list goes on and on.

I'll be posting links, opinions and providing a space where people can add to the many gates, discuss, make suggestions or simply vent!

Sarah Palin offers an endless supply of topics for discussion and eventually she will plow through a gate too far and put an end to her political career.

Can we do it? Yes we can!

  3. Here, Regina, you and crystalwolf aka caligrl can both use this list to springboard from:

Secessiongate - Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a party that promotes Alaskan secession that she addressed as recently as this year at their convention. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/members-of-frin.html

Wasillagate - Although claiming to be a fiscal conservative, as the Mayor of Wasilla, Palin ran up a debt of nearly $20 million. Being a town of only 5,400 people, that's over $3,000 per person. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12987.html

PoliceChiefgate - Palin was nearly recalled when she won her election as Mayor of Wasilla when she reportedly fired the Police Chief and Library Director because they didn't support her. Eventually, the Library Director got to stay, but the Police Chief was out. http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/510219.html

Earmarksgate - As Mayor, Palin requested $27 million in federal earmarks, yet the town only had 6,700 residents at the time of the request. She claims she is against earmarks and wasteful spending today.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/01/AR2008090103148.html?hpid=topnews

BridgetoNowheregate - Although claiming no support for the Gravina Island Bridge today, Palin was originally for the "Bridge to Nowhere" before she was against it when it was part of her platform in her run for Alaska's governor office. http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/511471.html

Stevens527gate - Palin was the director of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service" a 527 for Senator Ted Stevens, the current Senior Senator from Alaska, who is also currently undergoing corruption charges.http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/01/palin_was_a_director_of_embatt.html

PledgeofAllegiancegate - Sarah Palin has stated that she believes the Pledge of Allegiance was originally written with the phrase "Under God", answering the question of if she was offended by the phrase, "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/01/palin-on-pledge-of-allegi_n_122965.html

Mother-in-lawgate - Faye Palin, who ran for the office of Wasilla after Sarah Palin left, and her own mother-in-law, does not know if she'll vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, saying about Palin, "I'm not sure what she brings to the ticket other than she's a woman...".http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/republican_race/2008/08/30/2008-08-30_sarah_palins_motherinlaw_uncertain_about.html

LaughingBitchgate - Palin was a guest on Anchorage talk show host Bob Lester's program a year ago, and when the DJ made some crude remarks about cancer survivor Alaska Senate President Lyda Green, not once, but three times, each time Palin laughed. And said nothing to shut the man up. http://www.adn.com/opinion/comment/story/295464.html

Vettinggate - John McCain has reportedly only met Palin once before offering her to be his running mate, leading many analysts to speculate that the vetting process was rushed. This was only further supported by the fact that McCain had only recently sent the vetting campaign back up to Alaska to investigate more about Palin's scandals, adding one more to the list in the process. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/29/andrea-mitchell-john-mcca_n_122517.html

BristolPalingate - Bristol Palin, daughter to Sarah Palin, is five months pregnant with a child, and yet to be married, leading many people to question her "family values" platform. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/01/1318881.aspx

ThejoboftheVPgate - Recently, in an interview with CNBC, Sarah Palin in response to what she will do as Vice President, "I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?"http://www.cnbc.com/id/25970197

HillaryClintonWhininggate - Although having recently praised Hillary Clinton for having "put 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling, she had previously stated that "Hillary Clinton's whining turned me off". http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/29/palin-hillary-clintons-wh_n_122504.html

BarackObamaEnergygate - On her own website, Palin put out a press release saying she approved of Barack Obama's energy plan, which contradicts many parts of John McCain's own energy plan. The press release has since been taken down after being chosen to be McCain's running mate, but can be still accessed through the cache.http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:wbCGTUeD1r0J:www.gov.state.ak.us/news.php%3Fid%3D1384+http://www.gov.state.ak.us/news.php%3Fid%3D1384&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a
