Sarah Palin's five W's

Sarah Palin to the Alaska GOP last week:

"Some in the media actually participated in not so much the 'who-what-where-when-why' objective reporting on candidates and positions, those five W's that I learned when I had a journalism degree so many years ago in college, when the world of journalism was quite different than it is today."

Correction - those five W's that she learned when she had a journalism degree so many years ago in many colleges were quite different than they are today: 'whine-whine-whine-whine-whine'.

(The correction above was written in Palinese. My grammar is better than that...)

  1. To Sarah - You, as we all are, responsible for your own reality. Look in the mirror before blaming anyone else. And stop that dang, incessant whining!!!

  2. There are five W's and one H, as I learned in high school journalism, not just who-what-where-when-why, but also HOW. I also love her tormented grammar "when I had a journalism degree so many years ago in college," as though what education she absorbed then has nothing to do with now.

  3. She *actually* claims to have a journo degree... (shaking head in disbelief, even though I know she 'officially' has one...)
SHAME ON THAT INSTITUTION that finally gave it to her! They neglected to give her a solid foundation of ETHICS.

  4. I'm guessing the reason that Sarah never actually went into journalism is the fact that she cannot construct a coherent sentence. "...those five W's that I learned when I had a journalism degree so many years ago in college" (When I studied journalism so many years ago??) Once you have earned that degree in journalism, they can never take it away from you. To be petty, in that sentence, it sounds as if Sarah had a certificate or diploma and has now misplaced the item. During the presidential campaign, an English teacher humorously tried to diagram some of Sarah's sentences, and as they ran off the page into an incoherent jumble, the English teacher reminded us of the famous George W. Bush observation, "Some of our children is not learning."
Sarah had better accept that part of the stimulus money for education, as her own flawed manner of speaking points to the problems in Alaska's education system. (Aside to Regina, since you are so good at research-- just where does Alaska rank in terms of test scores in the nation? Not near the top, I'm guessing. And, also (you betcha) I think that I read that less than 50% graduate from high school. Some of our children is not learning).

The other reason that Sarah's speech should catch our attention is that it shows just how thin her skin is. How can a serious presidential candidate react so emotionally to every little statement made-- and yet she does, without ever measuring her words and the effect. Her response to the latest ethics charge is so filled with emotion that it is the childish version of "Yes you did" "Oh, no, I didn't" back and forth. So undignified!

  5. Another really interesting part of her speech was a story Palin told about wanting to pray before the debate with Biden...and with all the reps with her there for support and all- she couldn't find anyone she wanted to hold hands and pray with-so she settled for her daughter. Odd story- and way to once again dis those who were giving her a chance of a life time.

SARAH LOUISE PALIN = SORE LOSER PALIN

Imagine if she was in a Presidential debate- what a joke that would be lol

Love the Palin family value of moving your teens bf in the home - Levi just moved out!

  8. Elementary...what we learn in elementary.

I am not very good at verbal or written expression. Sometimes I mean to say one word, another similar word pops out. Like Bush. Yes, and I see similar traits with GINO. But..she does group words together (and patterns of words) in sentences that don't make sense. Filling up paragraphs with alot of fluff to say "your fault." I have to admit though, she's good at script reading. I have problems doing that, the word I am reading may not be the word I say. Hard to explain, I guess. So, that is how I see it. Everyone's unique. But actions are louder than words.

But, who-what-where-when-why, and HOW, I learned in elementary school.

  9. mdlw56,

Words are just words. The feeling behind the words make all the difference.

In GINO's case, both the words and the actions show a very nasty person.

You can have an evil intellectual or a not very articulate person with the heart in the right place, in the final tally, the heart will win...
