Sarah Palin's ethics

Sarah Palin gave an interview to Alaska Business Monthly, which was published on March 1, 2007:

ABM: Everyone's talking ethics, especially in the wake of recent scandals. Do you support an ethics bill, and if so, what would you like to see in it? And can it be enforced?

Palin: I certainly support an ethics bill, and I look forward to working on one with the Legislature, on both sides of the aisle. Some legislators are quite passionate about the ethics bill, so I expect to see a good product by the end of the legislative session. We need to tighten loopholes, and prove to the public that government on our watch will be open and honest, and that we will be transparent in the manner in which we conduct the state's business. As for enforcing ethics violations, there are already agencies in place to do this like the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) and various ethics committees, and I'd like to see us begin policing ourselves, as well. What we have to do is set the bar high, and give agencies like APOC the tools they need to do the job. We've put an investigator position for APOC in this budget, for example--for years, that agency hasn't had an investigator to look into complaints.

Sarah Palin ran her campaign for governor on a platform based on ethics, was all for closing loopholes, blah blah.

How come she has such difficulty in grasping the concept of ethics and how it applies to her?

This interview happened during her first legislative session. The idea of ethics has been wearing thin since then, at least as far as SHE is concerned.

In true Sarah Palin style, everything that comes out of her mouth amounts to nothing more than meaningless soundbites...

  1. Speaking of transparency, where are those emails Sarah?

  2. She reminds me of how I get when I've had too much to drink....I just spout off a bunch of crap. The only difference is when I'm reminded of what I said the next morning I sometimes feel bad and make apologies. Sarah Palin, not so much. She Just goes about spouting crap and never seems to suffer any "morning after" remorse.

It will cost her though, and I truly believe that she's put herself in a position where she can do no further harm to our state. All eyes are on her, and yes, she will be our Lame Duck Gov for another year, but she doesn't have the support to back any of her schemes that would prove detrimental to our state.

  4. Yes, where are those pesky emails. I note the comment about Stevens approval rating being at 19%, so there was obvious need/time for a change. Hope she still feels the same way when her own approval rating gets that low, which with all that has been happening lately, I expect hers to drop. Surely, people are getting the message loud and clear. I mean normal people, not her Palinbots. There just isn't hope for them.

  5. Ok I am feeling snarky. That picture makes her look like a pez dispenser, except I hardly think it's candy coming out of her mouth.

  6. Regina, you query:

"How come she has such difficulty in grasping the concept of ethics and how it applies to her?"

Here is probably the very best (other than obvious NPD) article ever written regarding Sarah and her ethics troubles....Quite the good read:

ha....because the monkey shoe is now on the other foot, oops, that would be HER foot, dang, new world, now she's havin to walk a mile in the other gov's shoes, we know how she likes her shoes, and she probably has a thing about "other peoples shoes" probably a "I" and "they" shoe thang,.......she's responding like a busy call tone, going buz, buz, buz, I don't hear you, no connect for her on this, cannot compute. After all, that would take "thinking" outside her game plan, oh ouch, too much mind stretching. She can't go there, for sooooooo many reasons.

I'm sorry, she can't point an evil ethic finger towards Murkowski in order to win her governor election, then cry waaaaah when HER ethics are being scrutinized.

  8. Hi Regina: It is perfectly legal for a Trust to reimburse the individual (beneficiary) for taxes incurred by the Trust. This is often done when a Trust's assets increase and the beneficiary of the Trust incurs taxable income.

Sorry to disagree but I'm speaking from experience - as for the rest, you are right on.

Trusts do have rules and have to be written correctly -

RE: Sarah's mental health - this is one very very sick lady. The fact that she is not going to get better makes her dangerous to every Alaska citizen...

  9. Oops guys - posted the last comment on the wrong thread....

    SORRY

SP has no ethics - with her mental illness she is unable to determine right from wrong. She is totally incompetent and in fact, probably too ill to serve as GINO.

  10. Hi Basheert,

I though you were on the wrong thread... Never mind. As I said, I'm no lawyer and don't know much about trusts, legal or otherwise, but the fact remains that ethics and Sarah Palin don't go very well together!
