Open thread

I found some nice photos in the laptop files to illustrate this thread. It's Collonges-la-Rouge, a charming and peaceful village. There are virtually no cars around. These photos were taken on my birthday last year. We thought it would be nice to go and see a place a bit further away from home, as a treat. What a treat it was! Fantastic weather, a fairytale village and a lot of ice cream!

Now that you have paused to take in some of the beauty of the place, discussions about the first, unique family of Alaska may continue with renewed enthusiasm...

Have fun. I'm going to bed because the computer man promised he would be here early tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!

  4. I posted this at the end of the previous thread, so maybe it won't get noticed there.

How is it that every member of the Palin/Johnston clan seems to be written about or pictured on a fairly regular basis, but Willow isn't?

  6. I posted this at two other blogs. I don't have the link maybe someone else can post it but I can't copy and paste on an iPod. Go to Alaska Dispatch and see article on scurvy, sherry Johnston and palin. It's interesting!!

  7. hmmmmm.... "Lemon Tree Very Pretty"
I'm not saying Johnston doesn't have scurvy or that Mat-Su Valley doesn't take vitamin C supplements, but the scurvy symptoms are the same as drug abuse. I've been told not to drink too much distilled water because it depletes vitamins and minerals.

Mat-Su Valley has a drug problem. Drug abuse brings on disease. The scurvy could also be a problem because of the drugs they take. If an intelligent population knows they don't have access to citrus, it seems they would take vitamin C and be sure to drink juices and what all is available. I knew a Vet that was addicted to almost any drug. He also watched his diet and took supplements. I'm not saying that is the way to go but even a not so bright addict can prolong the down side of drugs with better health habits. Drugs always catch up with you because they make your head so useless. I think I learned about scurvy when I was in the third grade. It seemed gross and I asked for more oranges.

I think Mat-Su Valley needs to address their drug problem. As Mayor, Sarah Palin was a dismal failure in that regard.
These people sound as if they are in major denial. There will be hereditary factors for their children and the children will have the same poor eating habits. I don't know how many booze distilleries are in Alaska but if they ship in all those kegs and bottles of alcohol that you see their children drinking, can't they make sure someone ships them OJ?

  8. Um, wasn't that a parody piece about the lemon trees and scurvy?

  9. That was satire. Sherry Johnston said she does have scurvy. that part is true. I don't know if it is a problem for the whole Valley.
