Sarah Palin's Going Rogue, a book to nowhere

There are some biographies of Sarah Palin already published (and reduced in price). They came out before she went rogue and "wrote" her autobiography with the help of a very Christian ghostwriter, Lynn Vincent.

One of these biographies has a long title: Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska's Political Establishment Upside Down.

It was written by Kaylene Johnson after Amanda Coyne turned down the honour of putting pen to paper in order to give the American public a glimpse into the life and times of Sarah Palin according to... Sarah Palin.

Here are some excerpts from a review of the book by an Alaskan reader:

This book, unfortunately, reads like a fanzine. In its small format, there are 32 full pages of photos and just 90 pages of text, with generous, generous white space. Five of the 90 pages are devoted to Palin's JV and varsity high-school basketball experiences.

"Sarah" is studded with the memes Palin made famous. Johnson calls Palin from the title onward a "hockey mom," but offers no details at all of that experience.

Kaylene Johnson's published works are varied, with many articles about Alaska and... Jesus, the bible and all that.

Amanda Coyne gave her reasons for turning down the project in an e-mail to the publisher:

"I've been following the governor's performance these last months, and I fear that she is floundering. Her administration is exiting rapidly, some of her decisions have been ill-thought out, at best.... Sarah is the type of woman who will end up defining her own success, but I have a hunch that that success will be to sail off to D.C. to take Stevens' seat if and when he gets indicted, and leave this state in a lurch. I've been talking long and hard to many people here, and I'm realizing that I can't write the book that you and I have spoken about. I simply can't have my name on what, so far, is turning out to be a puff piece without substance."

Amanda was right about Sarah Palin leaving the state in a lurch, but was wrong about Sarah's reasons. It turned out to be money and Sarah seems to be in a hurry to cash in before it all goes pear-shaped. The speaking engagements are failing to materialize and it doesn't seem to be that her fees are too high, it's more to do with people being embarassed to invite her:

Palin's bookers are said to be asking for $100,000 per speech, but an industry expert tells Page Six: "The big lecture buyers in the US are paralyzed with fear about booking her, basically because they think she is a blithering idiot."

Many big lecture venues are subscription series, "and they don't want to tick people off," said our source. "Palin is polarizing, and some subscribers might cancel if she's on the lineup." Other lecture buyers are universities, which have a leftist slant, and corporations, which dislike controversy.

"Palin is so uninteresting to so many groups -- unless they are interested in moose hunting," said our insider. "What does she have to say? She can't even describe what she reads."

People are beginning to see what Amanda Coyne saw some time ago: the pretty gift-wrapped package is just an empty box.

  4. The fact the the New York Post has said the big lecture buyers in the US are paralyzed with fear about booking her because "basically they think she is a blithering idiot" basically confirms that $P is not going to do well on the speakers circuit. After all, that is just one more rag owned by Rupert Murdoch. So that confirms the reason for the fast forward on getting the book out - he wants to recover his big advance to Queen Esther. I do love the pretty empty box though Regina.

It has been interesting to watch peoples reaction towards her change over time. I own a tshirt shop on the harbor in a very busy tourist town in Alaska. I have created many shirts making fun of SP and had them in my windows for years now.

The first two years the tourists didn't even know who it was but a lot of Alaskans would come in to gripe at me about them. After her quittypants speech I put some new ones up (Palin 2012-2014 she won't quit until she's halfway through etc..) and for the first couple of weeks they were up I was getting into arguments with people who took offense to these shirts repeatedly everyday. I can hear everything that's said as people walk by and for the first few weeks heard nothing but grumbling and no laughter.

I don't know what caused it but I started to notice about the first part of July lots of laughter as people walked by and no one complaining. As the weeks went by the shirts were met with more and more laughter and nobody was saying anything positive about her anymore. I also could barely keep up with making the shirts they were selling so rapidly. Seems all the tourists that were once singing her praises all now at least knew someone who "would love" these shirts if they didn't want one for themselves.

This was a dramatic change in a little over a months time. I went from spending a large part of my day debating people who took offense to these shirts, to spending most of my time ringing up the shirts. I never had anyone after July take offense to my shirts nor did I have to defend them any longer. She truly is her own worst enemy

  9. OT, but:

Anyone who cares about the deranged and cruel fraud of Trig Palin's birth needs to read Clues in the "Who-is-Trig's-Mother" Mystery by Philosopher Jay.

Amy1 posted it on PD, and I had read it a year ago and forgotten. (A year ago!) It's a great little quick argument that lays it all out.

Thanks, Amy1, Barb Dwyer, Regina, Kathleen and Patrick, Audrey, Morgan, Gryphen, BreePalin and all of you for not going rogue, but for working together.

  11. Alex...are you still interested in the "fly on the wall" comments...that day you were getting somewhere on PD...do you still have your notes and research?

  12. As Bush said about McCain/Palin... this is a five spiral crash.

Sarah in her solo flight is in spiral number three and is getting closer to crashing and burning.

A blithering idiot will never be a good pilot... I think Meg is one of her flight instructors.

  13. For Barb Dwyer: Cabin Fever in Anchorage had some great tee-shirts this summer that sold as fast as they came into their shop. They say, "I can see Russia from my house!" I think it has a picture of the Kremlin on it, but I'm not positive. Tourists were buying them up - and so were Alaskans.

Great story about your tee-shirts. It's amazing that we can see Palin for what she is - how long will it take the people who live in Mayberry to wake up. She needs to get out of Alaska and move to Mayberry - they just gotta see this chick in action. I guess, "seeing is believing."

  14. Hey, Alex, good to see you back. I sent Philosopher Jay an email begging him to do another series of 10, and also to join us here at any or all of the several blogs. He did such a good job, and so long ago. Plus in retrospect, he got it all just right. No false notes. Pretty amazing.

  15. Serious TV commentators, who really wanted to give Sarah the benefit of doubt, hoped out loud that Sarah would take her newly found free time to seriously study issues, maybe write thoughtful position papers, and seriously get her act together.

It is interesting to see that she has not done any of those things. She has not learned how to speak seriously, nor present herself in a professional manner. If anyone thinks that that a serious book, all 400 pages, can be written, proof read, fact checked and edited in a short six weeks, then they will own a priceless piece of garbage if they invest in Sarah's book.

  16. ProChoiceGrandma: I know you have a meticulously carefully prepared list of SP's travel, and I bet this list (go to bottom of the article) of the same by Philosopher Jay was also prepared with great care. With two such good lists, any discrepancies between them might yield somethng awfully interesting. Just wanted to alert you to this possibilty.

  18. Not to repeat myself
But I had mentioned the question of Bristol having Mono
    1. Why was she out driving
To have 3 violations and one accident (think odds here) she had to be driving ALOT unless she was just one wild woman on the road

    2. How did she get pregnant with Tripp
Levi did mention he visited her when she lived there.. right?
But, if she had mono, was really sick... see?

    3. She was still living with her aunt when Trig was born right?
Why is she holding him as an infant (a premie) if she was so darn sick

Is this all irrelevant and has been gone over before?
    I just found it interesting.
I sent a link yesterday of a post someone did just focusing on "Bristol's mono incident"

  19. I went to Amazon and started reading the comments on her not-yet-released book and had to back out after a short time. Too much of the Crazy!!! There are some seriously deranged people who are foaming at the mouth in praise of their idol. I had no idea that William Ayers wrote Obama's book! ???!!?? So how do they come up with "bestseller" status. B&N had her book at the top of the bestseller list. What exactly does this mean? Is this the result of the bulk buys by right wing groups? How deceptive that is.
My wv is phyph which sounds like my verbal reaction to reading those comments on her book.

  21. LOL. I voted that Sarah looks 7 months pregnant in the turquoise jacket, but only because she's got the scarf on. Isn't that her way of convincing us? She actually looks bigger in that red thing, whatever it is.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You know, I betcha, a lot of people wear scarves in Alaska when it's cold. Hmmm ... . The woman on the far left of turquoise-jacketed-sarah also has a scarf, but doesn't look pregnant and, comparing her with Sarah, I'll have to say that Sarah doesn't look pregnant either.

  23. OT and maybe petty:

that RED TOP is so atrocious it should be exhibited at the SMITHSONIAN as the ugliest 'thing' worn by an american government official!

    WOW!

  24. Regina has some technical problems with the poll, but will put it up again soon!

So please repeat your vote if it's up again. Thanks a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  25. anon 01:17, about Bristol's "mono"
We have all pretty much agreed that Bristol having mono was the handy excuse for Bristol to "drop out" of high school for a while. (When I write drop out, I mean did not attend in person classes held in that building in Wasilla. Sarah argues that taking on-line classes is not dropping out. Better said, not attending traditional public high school).

Mono is the shorthand excuse for Bristol disappearing from Wasilla for 5 months. People wrote that in today's word of miracle drugs, kids may be out of school for a few weeks, but not a few months.

Most of us who read and write here think that the publicly given excuse of Bristol having mono was to cover up her disappearance, perhaps due to a pregnancy.

Like many of Sarah Palin's explanations, this one also, too, does not make much sense. But in Sarah's world, if she says it, that makes it true.

  26. regina, what's the date for the RED TOP picture?

The dates for both pictures won't be revealed until the poll is over! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon 2:36, I agree, if Sarah's wearing a scarf, she must be pregnant. Following that reasoning, since she did not wear a scarf in the famous Gusty picture, I guess she really wasn't pregnant then.

  35. anon 2:45 responding to me ANON re: bristol and mono :)

We sure are anonymous bloggers .. and i am in pjs!

If the Bristol Mono thing can be disproven.. perhaps it should be added to the baby gate list of factoids..

I know the quest is not to find out "who" but to disprove ms. Sarah didn't spit the child out but this would just go to show one more twisted tale in her already bizarro story

If the old gal didnt talk so dang much .. like someone else said Liars produce a whole lotta detail.. she wouldnt be in such a hole

I dated someone for many years that was a chronic liar.. everything he said was extremely fabricated
Rather than say.. sorry I didn't hear the door
It would be.. sorry I was in the shower because I got up late and the phone was just ringing off the hook.. must of been so and so so I didnt answer it . but man that shower felt good I got a new shampoo, too...

This was a real lie.. the person I dated was my sons dad and I was dropping him off so he could watch him and I could work "we had joint custody".. he would play mind games with me and not answer the door knowing it would ruin my day as I scrambled for other "daycare" arrangements

Just remember every lie had a colorful word salad...

  42. I'm pretty sure she wears the kuspuk (I've seen more than one picture of her in them) to show how Alaskan she is! Sure convinced me.

I noticed she stopped wearing them after the RNC updated her wardrobe.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Liars talk too much.. provide too much detail because there is an awkward silence after they tell a lie that only they can feel

You know you arent telling the truth.. so once a lie is spitted out you feel that human sting of "did the person catch that"? before I can tell for sure... let me "reword it" .. keep talking

Like that last interview Palin was having with the reporter about producing a medical document..
She twisted all up in her seat, did her usual how far can I go with my flirting eye zippys and leg crossings... (distraction) Are they still paying attention?

Sure, I will produce a medical document... and then the disclaimer.. for all those snoops out there that have nothing better to do than wonder about my personal life.. sure..
weird silence only she can feel because she "knows"

..and it will say.. I am fit as a fiddle.. (are they still thinking? oh this is awkward) AND it will say I had FIVE kids.. peep around .. a little more wiggle... whew that question was over

Actually the ole gal does a lot of extra talking and weird body movements .. almost to counter act any perceived (only by her) conflict ... as she knows she is living a fabricated life.. her dukes are up

What's with all the jutted elbows to the side shots of her shaking hands with people
When she lifts her bat wing up high like that.. does it give her more power?

A person that doesn't lie is calm.. she is one twitchy broad

If you notice, most of the "foam flecked" Palinbots were all bragging they were buying multiple books. They defeat their own arguments by falsely inflating her numbers. There are going to be scores of "free" books out there, purchased by Dominionists, Pacs, RNC, etc...

Let me say again, thank you, thank you and thanks to Audrey for your tireless factual work. And thanks, too, to Regina who is courageous in providing this website and information, and providing the best Palin Photos. Is there some reason that Regina and Palingates is not a suitable place for us to be discussing these things?

Or, is it that you want a website such as Audrey's that has clear, easy to click photos taken in Feb.March and April 2008 that show Sarah Palin with a trim, flat stomach and scarves, scarves, scarves.

The comments by others, such as the Mercede pictures with Triggy Bear, other "birth" pictures of baby Trig, plus easy to access information will all be helpful to anyone who is unfamiliar with the Babygate Story and is new to your website.

Oh, and the Wild Ride, and the note from the doctor. Philosopher Jay has some wonderful links; is there any change that you guys can co-ordinate an effort?

So, is the idea to amplify what is being discussed here? Or are we moving to another location? Just asking, and thanking you again.

if i remember correctly, Fly on The Wall suggested that the answers lay in the relationship between the Johnston and Palin household which has turned out to be spot on. . . and FOTW seemed to be a bit of a trickster. . .

  56. The way Sarah wore the kuspuk-very shortened, pushed up puffy sleeves, with a mini skirt and then dark stockings, and a heel versus leggings or pants is very odd. Kuspuks don't do much for ones figure to begin with but are often longer and with a 'hood.' If she thought she was looking one-with-the-people, she missed. Typical. All hat, no cattle.
It didn't help that it was her pale, thin frame of mind inserted into what is a lovely, frequently seen garment worn by Natives in Alaska. Beautiful to see on traditional dance groups during annual Quyana when Alaska Federation of Natives have their convention each October.

Sarah's show is over and I don't wanna hear about Todd's Native ancestory. Show me the real life connections today, not just the commercial fishing. And is the feelings reciprical from Native community?
Then again, maybe she should have worn kuspuks daily if she wanted to look ambigious about her non-existent growing belly.

  60. Notice too, how Sarah looks ridiculous amidst the others in normal business attire in both photos - in the red she looks like she's dressed for a parade and in the turquoise, again, she's the only person wearing outerwear. And, you know, if she really had some temperature problem that was causing her to wear outerwear inside all the time, wouldn't she have taken it off for a dignified photo?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bree: Temp problems? In pregnancy you are warmer than usual. I know. I am always cold EXCEPT when I was pregnant.

  62. One thing I am very curious to see is how the McCain staffers from the campaign react to this book. From what her ghostwriter has hinted at, this book is going to include a lot more complaining on how she (Palin) was mishandled and hidden away from "friendly" interviews. Which is in and of itself a lie when you consider her two "hostile" interviews were Katie Couric and Charles Gibson, yet how many interviews did she do with Sean Hannity and Greta Van Sustern?

If she talks too much trash about the campaign, it might just come back to bite her in the azz if she thinks about a future in politics. I mean after all, who will want to work with her knowing she is going to trash you if things don't go the way she wants them to?

Yes it will be interesting to watch what happens. :)

  69. Hey guys - re: the "book" by that ghostwriter Rupert Murdoch hired because Sarah can't read, write or spell....

It really doesn't matter about the book's sales. No one "new" is going to buy it and read it. It's always the same people, over and over, buying bulk sales and giving it away because no one wants it.

Or buying 10 and then cancelling before the publication date just to push the sales up.

This book will sell only to the creepy people with scales and forked tongues who pray at the altar that is Plastic Surgery Sarah. Everyone else knows she's nuts and a fake and a phony.

Her base is staying exactly the same if not shrinking. NO ONE NEW CARES. She is ONLY what she is - everyone has formed an opinion.

And for the right wingnuts who really DO live in caves, it's THEIR money to waste. Stop an People who spend their money wisely, can afford Health Insurance.

She will never be more than a cheap trash blow-up bobblehead doll.

Stupid, cheap and sleaze all the way through.

Send your money to a worthwhile charity who could use it during these difficult economic times.
