Sarah Palin's speech in San Diego: Sarah, the Demagogue, comes unglued - Exclusive recording by Palingates

Sarah Palin in San Diego, October 9, 2010 - Collage created by Regina

On October 9, Sarah Palin gave a speech at a fundraiser for "Combat Veterans For Truth" at the Sheraton Hotel in San Diego.

Several local media outlets reported from this event, for example here, here and here. The only video clip I could find is included in a report from ABC10 here (see the copy on youtube).

The location was exclusive, the audience small, with the guests paying a fee of several hundred dollars each - but we thought that it could be a memorable speech. Therefore, exclusive or not, Palingates was there!

Palingates was not only there, but also left with a high-quality audio recording of the speech. It was a shorter speech than usual, and only the first 3-4 minutes are missing. The rest is there, in it's full glory.

Our efforts paid off: What a speech it was!

In the news reports and the short video clip by ABC10, the "force" of this speech and the extreme nature of the message doesn't come fully across. It was in my opinion one of the most demagogic speeches by Sarah Palin ever. She really came unglued.

You really have to listen to this speech in order to understand the extent of the demagoguery involved. It know it's a "screech", but it's a "special" one this time. Sarah stepped up her rhetoric, and ventures into extreme right-wing fringe territory. In addition, just reading the words of what she said doesn't give you the full picture. You have to listen to her VOICE - this is not your "ordinary" speech.

Some "highlights":

"Basically what the little man wants; what we want is a good job in our home town and we want a fiscally and physically secure union and we want the Government that we know is on our side and won’t be riding our back. That’s not too much for the little guy to be asking. Friends, this election is about the little guy, the working man. And that is what the tea party movement is all about too."

"So what we are doing – as the little guys. We are looking around; we are looking around and begging for leadership today in Washington, D.C., unfortunately. Instead of real leadership, we see a detached and distant and arrogant ruling class, that is trying to not only take away our freedoms and our opportunities, but trying to create this fake Utopia for – all of us here - and we are finding day by day by day that the policies that are being implemented –the policies that are going on, adopted by this congress, implemented by this administration are not working and they are failing America today and we have to say ‘Enough is Enough’."

"This ruling class is not listening and does not seem to care about the little guy. It treats our constitution as if it were nothing more but just an old piece of paper with some pretty words on it-that can be misinterpreted; interpreted whatever way that our politicians perhaps would like to: at that politician’s convenience is all. And, there does come that moment where we all have to say it all ‘Enough is enough’."

"What we have to remember though is Tea Party Americans, conservative Americans – wanting government to be on our side and not riding our back- we have to remind each other –that-though- we are not the extreme ones, we are not the ones who ran up the deficits by 235% in just 2 years and we are not the ones bowing and kowtowing to the dictators around the world and we are not the ones that are apologizing for America and we are not the ones taking over banks and auto industries and loan industries and health-care industry."

"And –You know- again, we have the media here tonight, and it’s never smart to pick up-I guess- the fight with those who buy ink by the barrelful but what-the-heck. When the Lamestream Media just doesn’t get it and when they don’t believe what-perhaps- your message is, so they want to belittle you and mock you and treat you with much disdain- you know, I think-oh-they can do it to me-that’s fine-because I know truth and I am fine with political shots that they take and what, I have said about this recently at Glenn Beck rally on steps of Lincoln Memorial, I said you know what - You can say whatever you want to about to say about me but I raised a combat vet and you can’t take that away from me."

The Tea Party movement is "for the little guy?"

"Detached and distant and arrogant ruling class?"

They want to "take away our freedoms and our opportunities, create a fake utopia?"

The "ruling class treats the constitution like an old piece of paper with pretty words on it?"

"Bowing and kowtowing to dictators in the world?"

The "Lamestream Media belittles you and mocks you and treats you with disdain?"

Really, Sarah?

Can you actually explain this demagogic drivel?

I don't think so.

Many thanks to our brave Palingator who visited the event in San Diego and made the recording, and many thanks as well to our reader Chakalipankhi who volunteered yesterday for the tough task of transcribing the speech!

Here is the full transcript of the recording:

"*** That you have for our constitution. You keep your oaths. When I refer the virtues that sustain our country, you find them in men and women who wear the uniform, who take the oath and who pay the price for our freedom. America needs your leadership now- more than ever veterans.

Friends, when I consider what the choices are in this election; I remember a quote from Ronald Reagan. President Reagan once said - You can't be for big government and big taxes and big bureaucracies and still be for the little guy-the blue guy-the working man-the patriotic hardworking American who isn’t asking much from their Government. Just- Basically what the little man wants; what we want is a good job in our home town and we want a fiscally and physically secure union and we want the Government that we know is on our side and won’t be riding our back. That’s not too much for the little guy to be asking. Friends, this election is about the little guy, the working man. And that is what the tea party movement is all about too.
That’s what: tea party candidates are standing up for and speaking out to support for us. It’s about a little guy who has been forgotten for too long and is now fighting back against the big ‘Powers to be’. The little guy is: I don’t know, looking around today and wondering: oh, where is America going? Who is- Who is leading us down this path of this-fundamental transformation of America that President Obama as a candidate and he warned us, guys, he warned us about this. And not a whole lot of people paid attention to what it meant to fundamentally transform America?

See, tonight I need to say something maybe some of you can’t say-Because I have no title, I have no uniform, I have no office. You know it is Todd & me- we are travel-I need to say what I feel and I need to speak what may be some of (Talking over applause-in uniform) you can’t say it.
So what we are doing – as the little guys. We are looking around; we are looking around and begging for leadership today in Washington, D.C., unfortunately. Instead of real leadership, we see a detached and distant and arrogant ruling class, that is trying to not only take away our freedoms and our opportunities, but trying to create this fake Utopia for – all of us here - and we are finding day by day by day that the policies that are being implemented –the policies that are going on, adopted by this congress, implemented by this administration are not working and they are failing America today and we have to say ‘Enough is Enough’. And we have to take it back. And that’s why we are here today is to find those candidates who will have the guts and fortitude to say to our President, to our congressional peers ‘No-Enough is Enough’ and we are going to take it back.[Talking over applause]
This ruling class is not listening and does not seem to care about the little guy. It treats our constitution as if it were nothing more but just an old piece of paper with some pretty words on it-that can be misinterpreted: interpreted whatever way that our politicians perhaps would like to: at that politician’s convenience is all. And, there does come that moment where we all have to say it all ‘Enough is enough’.
The little guys all across America have risen upand the mama grizzlies are starting to growl “That’s enough” and we are gonna protect our young-we are gonna protect the next generation of Americans so mama grizzlies are growling, rising up on our hind legs and we are saying ‘nooo’-we are going to change course. We need that real - We need that real change- That commonsense – “constitutional conservatives” can usher in because the solutions provided aren’t just the commonsense constitutional little guy. They are based on time -tested truth and they can work in America. They can work because they worked up-on our founding, they are what allowed America to grow into the most prosperous, healthiest , voluntarily generous, healthiest –most secure nation on earth- that exceptional: exceptional nation-based on time tested truths. Now, little guys across America rising up and shouting ‘Enough’. Last year we took to the streets and this year, we are taking to polling places. And groups like the Tea Party Express- So, your group doing miraculous things; Boy, *** *** ***
Thank you for taking those political shots that you take. You know that: that: I call them Lame Stream Media, as again, I can say whatever I want to say as I don’t have the title or an office that holds me back. The media that takes these shots at yourself; it’s been ridiculous to watch-ok, from the distance. To see what you have gone through-to see what your organization has had to put up with. The misinterpretation, the outright lies about Tea Party Americans who are just full of ‘THAT’ patriotism and they are full of indignation too: understanding that what’s going on in America right now, in our government is not good for our country, is not good for our economy, is not good for our national security issues so they decided to do something about it.
So, I just applaud you and tell you to keep the faith; keep going forward. The Tea party movement is a beautiful movement – its, it helps both side of the isles accountable and both parts of the machines in GOP and the Democrat party; they don’t know what the heck to do with Tea arty Americans but its making them work harder and its making them articulate more of their positions so that we understand more about how our political system works. That’s thanks to the Tea party movement and what it is you are doing ‘Sal’?*** . Now amazingly, the Tea party backed candidates’ though-again just hard working patriotic commonsense Americans running for office with their ‘Tea Party American’ label-if you will-they have been treated to the same ridiculous stereotypes and smears as the movement itself and they are called extreme.
But, I want to know why exactly are Tea Party Americans called extreme? Are we extreme for wanting to uphold more constitution? Are we extremes because instead - ruled by bureaucrats, we just want to see our leaders being adhered to our constitution or are we extreme for believing in ‘American Exceptionalism’ instead of endless apology towards? And are we extreme because we want our government to live within its means instead of mortgaging our children’s future? Now, I can say these things and I know that some of you cannot and I, I respect those in uniform cannot always-umm-freely-I guess. Because of-with all due respect-to the oath that you have taken-not always being able to say perhaps what it is you feel-so let us speak for you when we say that we understand how difficult some of the decisions are - that are being made in Washington, D.C. that affect you in uniform.
What we have to remember though is Tea Party Americans, conservative Americans – wanting government to be on our side and not riding our back- we have to remind each other –that-though- we are not the extreme ones, we are not the ones who ran up the deficits by 235% in just 2 years and we are not the ones bowing and kowtowing to the dictators around the world and we are not the ones that are apologizing for America and we are not the ones taking over banks and auto industries and loan industries and health-care industry. No, we are not the ones with this desire to fundamentally transform America – We are the ones who want to restore America and all its good values [Talking over applause]. We are not the extreme ones; we are the voice of reason.
The majority of Americans know that we are on the wrong path and this includes people who voted for this president and congress-and they have their hopes dashed, they are so disappointed. They know that tough decisions have to be made now about government spending because the longer we put off these decisions; the harder it’s going to be on future generations of America. And, we don’t want pandering and we don’t want to be lectured by Washington, what we want is courage and integrity in our leaders and that is why we are going to win back Congress and that is why when we win- our agenda has got to be both – dealing with Economic problems that we face. And, those in congress who supported Obama-Pelosi-Reed fundamental transformation of America, they must be fired.
We need to take back the gavel from Nancy Pelosi. We are going to get this country back on the right track no matter what it takes. We need to do it, we will do it and we can do it with ‘Combat Vets for Congress’. And, I am blessed to be able to add my voice-I am humble to be able to add my voice to this cause. And –You know- again, we have the media here tonight, and it’s never smart to pick up-I guess- the fight with those who buy ink by the barrelful but what-the-heck. When the Lamestream-Media just doesn’t get it and when they don’t believe what-perhaps- your message is, so they want to belittle you and mock you and treat you with much disdain- you know, I think-oh-they can do it to me-that’s fine-because I know truth and I am fine with political shots that they take and what, I have said about this recently at Glenn Beck rally on steps of Lincoln Memorial, I said you know what - You can say whatever you want to about to say about me but I raised a combat vet and you can’t take that away from me.
So if nothing else, my voice being added to this cause and I will tell you folks, we know that we can do it, we can win back congress, we can get this country back on right track and we are gonna do it by sticking to the time-tested truths that this country was founded upon: The truth that the government that governs least governs best. And, that it is constitution that provides path for governance *** [talking over applause]. The time tested truth that only the limited government can provide opportunity and prosperity for all and that the freedom is a God given right. But, freedom isn’t free – freedom is worth fighting worth for though and that it is America’s finest, our men and women in uniform who are a force for good- throughout this world, nothing to apologize for: America’s finest-our men and women in uniform. And that, the fundamental truth that America is that shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan used to talk about. And that, America’s best days are yet to come- our best days are yet to come so from the bottom of my heart, speaking for the working men-for the little guy, I thank you for keeping the faith. I thank you for keeping your oath and answering your country’s call once again. Thank you ‘Combat Vets for Congress’. Keep the faith-God bless you. God bless America."
