But that's not all. In order to properly understand Sarah Palin, we have to look a bit deeper into the science of psychology.
There's a definition:
Narcissistic Personality Disorder > 5 of following criteria
1. Requires excessive admiration
2. Grandiose sense of self-importance; believes self to be superior
3. Preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance
4. Believes that he/she is special and should have only the best
5. Has sense of entitlement, ie deserves special favors or treatment
6. Exploits interpersonal relations, ie takes advantage of others
7. Lacks empathy and concern for others
8. Is envious of others or believes them to be envious of him/her
9. Displays arrogance
Modified from *Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th ed, Am Psychiatric Asso, 1994
I have to admit that I had never looked closely into this before. But now I understand what's going on here. It's crystal clear, and I wonder why this hasn't been discussed in more detail in the media regarding Sarah Palin.
"Psychology Today" explains:
"Deep desire to be at the center of things is served by extreme self-confidence, a combination that makes narcissists attractive and even charming. Buoyed by a coterie of admiring friends and associates—protected by the armor of positive self-regard—someone with a mild-to-moderate case of narcissism can float through life feeling pretty good about himself. Since they feel entitled to special treatment, they are easily offended, and readily harbor grudges. Yet narcissists are often very popular—at least in the short term.
The beauty of being a narcissist is that even when disaster stares you in the face, you feel neither doubt nor remorse. In a study, researchers asked a pair of participants to undertake a task that was rigged to fail. Most people tend to protect their partner, sharing either the credit or the blame. "But the narcissists would say, 'It's totally the other person's fault.' They're completely willing to step on someone," says narcissism researcher Keith Campbell, associate professor of social psychology at the University of Georgia.
(...)
Don't cross him. Entirely dependent on others' opinions, a narcissist can act like a cornered animal if he or she feels threatened. Research shows that narcissists become aggressive when they feel an ego threat—confronted with proof that they aren't special—or feel they aren't getting enough respect. In the lab, they are willing to punish other experimental subjects with a noise blast when they think they've been put down. If you have to tell a narcissist he isn't doing a good job, do it gently—and be prepared.
(...)
Unfortunately, anyone can be seduced by a narcissist. One misconception is that only those with low self-esteem date someone who's so self-centered, but people with normal self-respect can also end up involved with a narcissist. They have decisive, take-charge personalities in a society that shuns wishy-washiness."
+++
At least Andrew Sullivan get's it:
"Watching someone this delusional and this uninformed and this narcissistic strut around the world stage telling empirical untruth after untruth is a car wreck worth rubber-necking. The book is so weird, and its fiction so bad, and its facts so non-checked, you'd have to have every single journalistic bone in your body removed to be indifferent to it."
Please don't miss Andrew Sullivan's current extensive coverage about Sarah Palin on the "Daily Dish".
He just reported how Sarah Palin uses Trig on the tour shamelessly as a prop.
UPDATE on Andrew Sullivan:
Andrew Sullivan has written a long article about his attempt to make sense of Palin's book. He tries to take her book seriously and struggles. I can understand him and I think that he gives a very sharp analysis.
Excerpt:
In this, the book is emblematic of late degenerate Republicanism, which is based not on actual policies, but on slogans now so exhausted by over-use they retain no real meaning: free enterprise is great, God loves us all, America is fabulous, foreigners are suspect, we need to be tough, we can't dither, we must always cut taxes, government is bad, liberals are socialists, the media hates you, etc etc.
I tried to write a fair account of Palin's various stories of her incredible fifth pregnancy, labor and delivery and to reconcile all the various facts we know and the various versions of the story she has told. Just for the record and because we have aired the public record on this before. I honestly however cannot make total sense of them in a way that I'm completely convinced by and so simply do not feel comfortable making any judgment on them in any way at this point. That's fair to her, my readers, my colleagues, and the innocent private people caught up in this circus.
I thought there might be some new facts in here that would illuminate my confusion and dispel the whole thing.
There is, rather, more barely-credible myth-making and descriptions of actions taken that really make no sense even on their own terms. But since we now know that Palin tells odd lies all the time even when she doesn't have to, we cannot hold her to common sense readings. The story she tells is largely incredible if you assume a rational actor at the center of it. But we do not have a rational actor in the center of it; we have an unbalanced, delusional, ambitious fanatic whose relationship to reality is entirely instrumental and can change from minute to minute. And so we cannot even say: that doesn't make sense so it probably isn't true. With Palin, anything is possible her world is so imaginary and magical. Much that makes sense with others may not make sense with her. And without external evidence, how can we tell which is which?
+++UPDATE:
Can somebody PLEASE show this clip of John Oliver from the Daily Show to Sarah Palin?
I sooo hope that she gets to see that.

I just hope that there is no parallel universe in which Sarah Palin became Vice-President, because their nuclear bombs might hit us, you never know. She might feel threatened by planet earth.

Boy, that photograph on Andrew Sullivan's blog tells you all you need to know about narcissistic personality disorder.
ReplyDeleteI cannot BEAR to watch her carry poor Trig around like he's a sack of potatoes in that MSNBC footage. She never even glances down at him to see how he's doing!
ReplyDeleteI had close dealings for several years with someone just like Sarah.
ReplyDeleteEveryone walked on eggshells around her for years.
Then when she was finally confronted for her behavior and challenged - ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE.
The part you failed to include is that these people are extremely hard to help. They do not seek psychological help willingly and if they are somehow forced to, it is almost impossible to 'cure' them.
I think someone should report her abuse of this child to Gloria Allred or Sharon Moss.
ReplyDeleteWow, her face when Andrea brings up John McCain! It looks like she was ready to puke.
ReplyDelete(Thanks Basheert for telling us how to get our names in)
She's parroting what her devotees are saying. She doesn't care what normal, even semi-intelligent people think. She knows that those simple wackos who love her are saying "she's not being vindictive, she's just setting the record straight." So, she's telling everyone, "I glad to have the chance to tell the truth."
ReplyDeleteNow that there is more recent footage of Trig, here's a suggestion to somebody who likes doing photo comparisons:
ReplyDeleteCan someone find young pictures of all the Palin children, and put it up against the latest Trig pictures, to see if they all look like brothers and sisters? (I'm not sure one of Track would actually inform us that well since I'm not convinced entirely that Track is Todd's)
It may well be that Trig looks just like another Sarah/Todd kid. But it would be interesting to check. Maybe include a picture of Levi as a baby if possible too. I think he was a little blondie when he was little.
anon@20:26:
ReplyDeleteRegarding Trig's facial features.
Trig is a Down's child. He has specific facial features that announce his syndrome to anyone that sees him. He will resemble facially and body structurally most other Down's individuals.
Here are some of the specific Down's characteristics including the mental retardation, eye folds etc:
Definition of Down syndrome features
Down syndrome features: Children with Down syndrome have multiple malformations and mental impairment due to the presence of extra material from chromosome 21.
Among the more common physical features are hypotonia (floppiness), small head with brachycephaly, epicanthic folds across the inside corners of the eyes, upward outward slanting palpebral fissures (eye slits), Brushfield spots in the iris, small mouth, small ears, excessive skin at the nape of the neck, a single transverse palmar crease, and short fifth finger with clinodactyly (incurving). A wide space, often with a deep fissure between the first and second toes, is also common.
There is an increased risk of congenital heart defects (50%); leukemia (<1%); hearing loss (75%); otitis media (ear infections) (50%-70%); Hirschsprung disease with absence of nerves from the bowel (<1%); gastrointestinal atresia (12%); eye disease (60%), including cataracts (15%) and severe refractive errors (50%); acquired hip dislocation (6%); obstructive sleep apnea (50%-75%); and thyroid disease (15%). There is no increased risk of solid tumors.
There is mental impairment. The degree is variable, ranging from mild (IQ: 50-70) to moderate (IQ: 35-50), and only occasionally to severe (IQ: 20-35).
The social quotient may be improved with early intervention techniques, although the level of function is exceedingly variable. Children with Down syndrome often function better in social situations than might be expected from their IQ.
The palmar crease and the floppiness and eye fold are often the diagnostic features if the Down is not discovered prior to birth.
ReplyDeleteThe extra line across the palm is very striking.
It is unlikely that Trig would "resemble" family very much.
anon at 20:26
ReplyDeletethat doesn't really work, seeing if kids 'look like
brothers and sisters'
My older brother and sister look very similar but
nothing like me and my younger brother, and my younger sister does not look like anyone else. But
we are all the genetic offspring of the same parents.
I am positive of that. And when you go back a few generations, then the resemblences become clear.
My two kids don't really look that much alike, yet my younger brother's FIVE kids are obviously all siblings. All tall, slim, blond hair, blue eyes.
We should be above this sort of speculation,
it feeds the trolls.

That's because she doesn't give a shit about how he's doing. He's a prop.
I just stumbled on this very interesting blog by a mother of a child with Down Syndrome, reacting to Palin's treatment of Trig: http://smallsteps-ellie.blogspot.com/2009/05/early-intervention-who-is-it-really-for.html
ReplyDeleteI've lived with a Narcissist for over 30 years. I think I'm an expert on their behavior :) Sarah Palin is most definitely one. It doesn't help that her followers favorite comeback to Palin's detractors is we are so jealous of her. This just feeds the mighty black hole that is her ego. I don't know if anything can be done about her. Nothing will ever be her fault. She will never see her lies or faults nor admit them. She has enough fans who will believe anything about her that will continue to feed her delusions. I can only hope that the sane people will recognize this and shine the spot light on her craziness.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Palinbots in line to get the sacred books, and their thoughts on Sarah:
ReplyDeletereminds me of a short science fiction story I read
in which another reality co-existed on a different plane...
The Gostak and the Doshes
A sentence is described; The Gostak distims the Doshes. It is explained: what is a Gostak? that which distims the doshes. What are the doshes? that which is distimmed by the Gostak. What does "distim" mean? Why, it is that action that the Gostak takes upon the doshes! This slogan is started in the parallel world, and a war ensues, which our hero cannot understand, because nobody can ever give a definition of the slogan without referencing the rest of the slogan. Our hero winds up brought to military court for being "unpatriotic". He is drafted for the war, to which he can in no good conscience fight, because he doesn't understand what they are fighting about. He keeps asking what they are fighting about, and what does the slogan mean....they ask him if he is disparaging the Gostak? Does he not believe in the doshes? etc, etc......
Well, so, anyway, our hero is relieved when he finally locates a physicist in the alternate reality that is able to tell him how to return to his own world.
Truly scary, though. The hero of the story gets to return to his normal world, but we are all still stuck here in the alternate reality that includes people who are speaking a language the rest of us just don't "get".
I feel like a criminal watching how she treats Trig. One of these days they will come and arrest me if I have that on my television screen.
ReplyDeleteThe way she carries Trig is the least of her abuse. She should be brought up to Gloria Allred and Sharon Moss by as many people and OFTEN. All the better if health professionals detail what they observe. Including the wild ride abuse, if what she says is to believed someone should detail the abuse it would have been. Her believers believe in the abuse. How can a whole nation participate in the abuse or fraud? It is vile and disgusting.
It would not hurt to go back to how Trig was treated at the convention and on the road, for Gloria Allred and Sharon Moss.
Are Palin children on drugs to keep things running smooth? The tape of Bristol with a doped looking baby woke me up to what is part of their child rearing routine. Sarah passes on all her lies to these children, Bristol is following her role models, her mother and Prejean.
People get that it is abuse when the parents of Balloon Boy teach their children to lie. Why can't they get that the Palins are criminally abusive parents?
I wonder what's taking Andrew Sullivan so long for the Trig post. Perhaps attorneys are vetting?
ReplyDeleteBad news for Sarah: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009/11/19/2009-11-19_former_mayor_rudy_giuliani_to_announce_plan_to_run_for_us_senate.html
ReplyDeleteGuiliani in 2012?
ReplyDeletePatrick, thank you. This is a great post and very timely. The behaviors described are on full display as Palin goes on her faux bus tour and now we see that Trig is suddenly over the sniffles, and available to serve again as a prop. I can see that as usual he is not wearing his glasses. So glad Sullivan is also making it clear he sees Palin's use of Trig as a prop.
ReplyDeleteSomebody on another thread said that we should not be "diagnosing" Palin with any mental issues. I say that anybody who has been exposed to a person with such a narcissistic personality had better be prepared to protect themselves against the narcissist, whether there has been a diagnosis or not. There are people with mental and emotional problems who will destroy other people's lives, and it is far better to recognize this kind of person in time to take protective action, regardless of whether they have some known condition. One should be able to point out the behaviors/traits to be wary of and I am glad you did so, Patrick. It is, as Palin would say, just "common sense" to see this for what it is.
Andrew Sullivan wrote today in his post "Don't Feed the Trolls", addressing critics who say he shouldn't be giving Palin the attention, that she is a force who certainly has a chance at the nomination. He said:
"This means that her attempt to recast her image, finesse her past stories and blame the McCain camp for her own errors and nuttiness should be engaged by those of us whose job it is to subject the powerful to scrutiny. (emphasis added)
He continues further "Just get on with it, my fellow hacks. Know your place. It's cold and lonely work, but we chose this profession and we should get off our high meta-horses and do it."
This is a call to action. I hope some will follow the call. We can see Palin doing ridiculous things and telling lies all the time, and only a relative few in the media call her on her worst lies.
The fact that she willingly posed like a pinup at age 45 while leaning on the flag in her cheesecake photo featured on the current Newsweek cover tells us quite a bit about Palin and the nature of her appeal to her supporters. But the glaring truth shown by the symbolism in this photo is largely ignored by the MSM. Instead they follow Palin's lead and tackle the "sexism" distraction that is one of Palin's favorite fallback victim ploys. Her complaint is that she is pictured wearing shorts. Yeah, right. Some of her skirts are that short. We can't help it that she does crazy exhibitionist crap like posing for that Runner's World photo. How about she takes some genuine responsibility for her behavior and its consequences even once?
Palin is going to keep saying and doing outrageous things. She cannot help herself. We have all seen in action how she reacts to criticism. She needs more of it, hopefully from the MSM taking off their blinders and seeing that the Empress has no clothes. Until they wake up, we will have to continue to rely mostly on the bloggers and the comedians to expose her. That IS a start, as she's made some of her worst impressions when reacting to those critics.
Given the way Sarah cannot help herself from lashing out, Levi may play a more heroic role than many people expect. He's one of the few people who will call her out as the liar she is. And I am sure he does "know things". How she will react as more facts come to light should prove to be very interesting. I'm just glad Levi has "protection".
GUILIANI'S 2012 RUN?
ReplyDeleteI find similarities between Sarah and George W. Bush, traits that are not flattering. Neither was intellectually curious, neither read nor was informed about the world. Neither had traveled outside of the US or expressed an interest beyond our borders.
ReplyDeleteBoth Sarah and George accept no responsibility whatsoever for anything that they ever did. Bush couldn't think of a single mistake that he made as President, while there were many to choose from. Ditto for Sarah. It was everybody's fault but hers.
Both used God as the source of their mission. George didn't ask his own father for advice, even though the man had also been a president. Bush said that he was in touch with a "higher father." Everything in Sarah's book is directed by the hand of God, with the exception of her loss last November. I'm sure it was someone else's fault. God wouldn't do that to Sarah.
They share another interesting quality, in the way that they treat their friends. Both seemed to use nasty nicknames for people. (It's a way of making them feel more important by diminishing someone else). But, Sarah was quick to discard people when they no longer served her purpose.
George, on the other hand, came from a family versed in politics, and knew enough not to carelessly discard friends, just in case they come back and cause you harm. George still counts on the loyalty of college friends (who still keep his secrets).
Justin Frank analyzed Bush in his book, "Bush on the Couch," and he attributed much of Bush's personality to the loss of a younger sister when he was only 6 years old. The Bushes did not grieve, and did not allow young George to understand the loss.
In addition, he probably had ADDH; both he and Palin cannot speak well without losing the train of thought and mixing up a sentence. Bush, not doing well in school, became the towel-snapper, wise guy, frat boy and turned to substance abuse to ease that sinking feeling of failing all the time.
It would be interesting to know about Sarah's childhood. We can assume that she did poorly in school, attending more than the usual amount of colleges. What happened to Sarah that made her need to act out, seek attention and lie compulsively?
I would take a guess at something like ADDH. She couldn't please her father, the English teacher, but she could in sports, hunting and fishing. I would guess at some dynamic that made her compete with siblings for attention. We have not discussed the big gorilla in the room, substance abuse. George did both drugs and alcohol. What is in Sarah's secret past?
Anon about Track and Todd: I read an amazing stat that about 25% of kids turn out not to be from the father they thought.
ReplyDeleteso while it seems crazy, it is common
I say Trig abuse is conservative values because how many times did you see any of the McCain family or team help the child? They are just as guilty of using him as a prop. As is everyone that kept their eyes closed and mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteMcCain took advantage of Trig as a prop, it was not only the Palins.

I am interested in why Sherry Johnston and Bristol look so much alike.
ReplyDeleteTrack is not Todd's son. Common knowledge in Wasilla.
ReplyDeleteI know others caught it!! When she's asked something about presidency..she says she's focusing on 2012 and QUICKLY changes direction. Not on your radar, huh? LIAR, again.
ReplyDelete"To the extent that people are pathologically narcissistic, they can be controlling, blaming, self-absorbed, intolerant of others’ views, unaware of others' needs and of the effects of their behavior on others, and insistent that others see them as they wish to be seen. They may also demand certain behavior from their children because they see the children as extensions of themselves, and need the children to represent them in the world in ways that meet the parents’ emotional needs."
ReplyDelete"These traits will lead overly narcissistic parents to be very intrusive in some ways, and entirely neglectful in others. The children are punished if they do not respond adequately to the parents’ needs. This punishment may take a variety of forms, including physical abuse, angry outbursts, blame, attempts to instill guilt, emotional withdrawal, and criticism. Whatever form it takes, the purpose of the punishment is to enforce compliance with the parents' narcissistic needs."
Please don't blame Bristol for some of the things she may have done or the decisions she may have made (or her siblings) because if they grow up with a mother like this they are essentially controlled by her. It may take years before they can break free.
There is some excellent info online if anyone is interested - "daughters of narcissistic mothers". I feel sorry for all the children and I speak from experience.
In terms of battles with folks with NPD, I was once in the crosshairs of a woman who was also a former failed runner-up beauty queen. As others have said about those with NPD, she could not handle the most gentle criticism (she was only doing about 15% of the work required, and did not want that pointed out). She lied and tried to ruin my reputation--although it was my job to guide her and get her up to speed.
ReplyDeleteShe threw a big fit to anyone who would listen, even though my side of the story was thoroughly documented and disproved her account. Later, she did the same sort of act to someone else--but this time managed to get in the national news for it.
She also suffers from severe depression and had at least one suicide attempt on her psych record.
I wish people would drop the Sherry-Bristol thing. Levi was born on May 3, 1990 and Bristol was born on October 18, 1990. Please, get a grip. There are plenty of legitimate issues to raise about all the discrepancies in Sarah's story, without resorting to this stuff.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the traits Patrick listed in the post, these traits are relevant also:
ReplyDeleteAntisocial:
Repeated violation of social norm/laws
Lying and conning
Impulsive and fails to plan ahead
Irritable and aggressive
Irresponsible
Lack of remorse
Histrionic:
Demanding of attention
Inappropriately seductive or provocative
Shifting and shallow emotions
Physical appearance draws attention
Dramatic, theatrical and exaggerated
Speech is impressionistic and lacks detail
People can have traits from the various personality disorders. (It's not necessarily strictly one PD or the other.) A couple of traits from the Borderline PD are relevant also, but more from the other three PDs.
AcJane ~ Levi could very well know about all that was going on during the hockey years. He could know about Housegate and Religiongate. He lived in a small town and he had friends like Track and Bristol. He's sitting on a minefield of information. He may not know the half of it, even after Rex got through with him.
ReplyDeleteLevi can't say much in his book, if that happens. The Feds need to ask him a few questions to see what he knows that he doesn't know he knows.
21:34 ~ I would like to hear more about the Bristol/Sherry cell phone connection. Was Brad's wife involved? Where are the informants that turned Sherry in to FBI, are they living near the Johnstons family now? Are they all friends again? It is a close knit place, that Wasilla is. You know and forgive your mother's informants.
The birth dates are a little close for Sherry to pull that one off. There is plenty more on the Bristol/Sherry relationship. Levi is still seeing Bristol like a love struck teen.
Bristol and Sherry's resemblance is germane to a certain line of thought that many diligent Trig Truther researchers have bene pursuing. If Briston and Sherry are somehow related (possibly through ties going further back in their family trees) then that consanguinity could be a potential contributing factor for Trig's Down Syndrome. This is important to keep in mind, at least in the back of our minds. Because if you recall the main argument from people defending Sarah as Trig's mom has been "Look at how common Down Syndrom is in older mothers, so surely Sarah must be the mother." The potential of consanguinity (a common ancestor) for Bristol and Sherry, and by extension, for Bristol and Levi, could be an important factor in Trig having Down Syndrome if Bristol and Levi are indeed Trig's parents. So while we might not have proof of a direct ancestral tie, Bristol and Sherry's eerie resemblance and the idea that potential consanguinity did occur somewhere in their families is still a viable point of inquiry.
ReplyDeleteWe need a contest.
ReplyDeleteEveryone gets to guess the date of Sarah's first ever national news conference.
One where real reporters (not hand picked Fox clowns or celeb interviewers) get to ask real hard hitting questions.

ReplyDeleteArmchair Jane:
I don't know if you are referring to any of my posts, but I have commented about not diagnosing. I have said that meaning myself, because from a professional standpoint, as a professional, a cannot diagnose someone from video clips or writings.
I've posted here in the past about personality disorders. It is believed that it is more likely to see shared symptoms within the cluster narcissistic/histrionic/antisocial/borderline rather than to see anyone that meets the criteria for just one. If anyone does, it is typically borderline or antisocial that are more often seen. My impression of SP, which is just an informed guess would be histrionic/narcissistic with quite a bit of borderline thrown in, and of course, some antisocial tendencies. I've also posted in the past that my main concern is for the children, particularly the girls and that is from observing the family dynamics through campaign videos and the interactions between Sarah, Todd, and the girls. Body language tells me a lot more than words. Trigg is a whole other issue and as my specialty is disability, don't get me started there!
I just posted on my blog about projection related to SP and Beck and its relationship to mental illness and vulnerable peoples if anyone is interested in learning more about it. http://kyrafrost.blogspot.com/2009/11/palin-beck-projecting-anger-will-incite.html

ReplyDeleteTodd's side of the family goes back to the beginning native population. Sarah's arrived in the 1960s. Does anyone know anything about Sherry or Keith's families? The consanguinity could go back many years. Remember in Dillingham incest is common, it would not be unusual at all there.
And why else try to chase Levi off with a gun or bribe Bristol with a car for breaking up with him?
ReplyDeleteYou can't TELL her that Sherry is related somehow!

ReplyDeleteTrack is not Todd's son. Common knowledge in Wasilla.
Really? Please, do tell. Who is Track's father, then?
Enough with the Bristol/Sherry distraction, come back from Gasper Island, please...I am imploring all of the anonymous Alaskan posters on this blog to grow a pair and come forward with what you know about the Palins on the record to the appropriate media or law enforcement, even the FBI if local police are corrupt.
ReplyDeleteThere have been numerous posters who say things like it was common knowledge that Sarah had affairs, Track is not Todd's child, and Sarah was never pregnant. Are you for real? If I had that type of information, I would sell it to the highest bidder and put Sarah away for good. This is getting to be a matter of national security, and someone is going to die. Did you see what the Army did? Sarah Palin has talked so much shit about our President, that they are banning media from her appearance at Fort Bragg.
Patrick I realize you are not American, but enough is enough with this circus. Anyone that calls themselves Americans cannot sit idly by and let this insane woman destroy the reputation of our country that Obama has worked so hard to improve.
The world laughs at us and especially most Alaskans for letting this charade go on. I wonder how you sleep at night.
I think understanding her mental illness might enable us to manipulate Sarah. Levi tells us that she was depressed for months after the election. She was convinced she was God's Chosen One and that He would make her VP and then president. When that didn't happen she was crushed far more than a sane ambitious politician would have been. Now she's on her book tour, being interviewed all over the place, and you can see her mania rising to the point it is literally shining out of her eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is good. The more she sees herself as godlike, the harder she will become for her handlers to control--just like during the election. She will say and do more outrageous things, convinced everyone except the "libruls" loves her and that everyone believes her outrageous lies.
Our job? Keep sticking pins in her balloon. Make fun of her. Criticize her looks. Talk about her bad plastic surgery. Talk about Todd's affairs. Keep showing those awful pictures of her when she was younger--as big as a horse when pregnant with Track, looking plump in a bathing suit in the Miss Alaska pageant, etc. Yeah, it's petty. But we know she watches the blogs and we know what makes her blow up. Why not use it against her?
I'd like to say that the Palingates research team has not been investigating any family relationship between Sherry Johnston and Bristol Palin.
ReplyDeleteBristol and Levi's births are separated by five months. Diligent researchers would be aware of that fact
Army fears anti-Obama politics at Palin event
ReplyDeleteFort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press that the military post's garrison commander and other Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book signing, which will not include a speech. He said the Army did not want the Monday event to become a platform to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."
Anon 22:06
ReplyDeleteAs far as I am aware, the Trig Truthers have never pursued that idea that Bristol and Sherry are related.
The birthdates speaks against such a connection.
Sarah's 'bots:
ReplyDelete"I find it very offensive the way people are viciously attacking Sarah. She deserves respect and has been through a lot. Can any of her detractors stand up and be gracious as she is? Always the lady."
"I am sorry to say, but we are greatly disappointed with our experience yesterday in Grand Rapids. We were waiting outside the Mall for 12.5 h. and inside 1.5 h. to be told at the end: "she will not sign your books". The organizers new all along that that's what's going to happen, but gave us false hope, and forced us to stand outside on the cold, wind and sometimes rain. (there were pregnant women with us, and parents with small children) They strategically put us in front of the podium where she was going to address (we thought us, but she was addressing the media with the prepared speech). Very disappointing!"

ReplyDelete"Did you see what the Army did? Sarah Palin has talked so much shit about our President, that they are banning media from her appearance at Fort Bragg."
That is horrific. Why ban the media? BAN PALIN. Where is Homeland Security? If someone is a threat, it doesn't have to be a direct threat, just a coded threat by way of appearance, why not ban such the igniter?
I am a little familiar with Fort Bragg. There is no shortage of C'hrisiaists or what they are called in the military that would love a leader like Sarah to set someone off. This is the creepiest scariest thing I've heard. It is as if the Army banning media is in on what Palin is up to.
Sligtly off topic, in that this pertains to the Lyda Green comment that mentions $P had a miscarraige before piper was born.
ReplyDeleteI've read national enquirer story on Sarah's alleged affair with Brad Hanson - but paid attention to the dates only now, which happend circa 1996.
Willow was born on 1995 and Piper was born on 2000. Could it be that the affair with Brad Hanson led to a pregnancy, she had an abortion in an effort to hide it, and then embellished with the whiteout story on misscarriage after Track based on her experience on this "miscarriage"?
NPD is a bear to deal with. People with NPD are not willing to be "cured" (impossible) or recognize they are not the 2nd Coming. They are vengeful, lazy and manipulative. And those are their GOOD features.
ReplyDeleteAgreed about Bristol and Sherry. I don't think I've heard a potential consanguinuity discussed by anyone.
RE: Track and Todd. I had wondered about that. Sarah was not exactly portrayed as the Wasilla Virgin and I'm sure her history is widely known. I doubt that the Palin family has ever owned or will ever own a DNA testing kit.
I agree with continuing to pound away on all of her documented lies, her raging stupidity (Iraq vs Iran) on Hannity (who probably doesn't know the difference himself), her complete lunacy and her vibrant mental illness that she exhibits 24/7.
She must not be ignored. Her mental health will put the country at risk. She has neither the common sense nor intellectual capacity to make a decision on anything other than "paper or plastic" and she probably would lie about that.
She loves to be on video but then she lies about what she says ... forgetting there IS video.
She is so far beyond being only a liar, she has become her own worst enemy. People generally detest liars, chronic or pathologic. The fact that this blathering dimwit lies even when it isn't necessary, says volumes about how incredibly mentally ill she actually has become.
I have no problem reading the DSMIV and saying that from what I have read and seen, they wrote the NPD chapter based on observing her erratic behavior.
Dangerous dangerous lady .... since she believed God wanted her to be president/VP, I'm wondering how her psychosis has rationalized her God letting her down? That would be a major conflict for a fruitcake like her.
I lived with a Pathological Narcissist for 10 years. At the time, marriage for "my kind" was not legal in my state. (it is now) She was a PhD Clinical Psychologist, too. Masters in Business Administration. Had never been, nor would ever go, to a therapist, either. Even when our relationship was failing miserably, would NOT go with me. She would have had to take some responsibility for the breakdown, and that is impossible for a narcissist. Her reason for not going was that nobody was as "good" as she was and how would they be able to help her? This sick line of reasoning eventually gave me the hint I needed to get out.. and fast. The mental and emotional damage wrought upon me by that woman has no compare.
ReplyDeleteWatching $P gives me the creeps and brings up a lot of crap. I am still afraid of my ex, after 5 years. I still have PTSD symptoms about it all. And $P's behaviors are just a little too close to what I experienced. They make other people feel crazy. They put on a front when they are in public. If they're smart, they're 10X more dangerous. Like mine was. They are all vampires. The discussions about $P's mental health issues has been going on for a year, probably. It's not news to most of us who've been here since the beginning of her reign of terrorism.
Please. Please. Do whatever it takes to make sure she is never ever in a place where she can make decisions for me, or for all of you.
I am thinking about going on the WhiteHouse.gov website, or maybe MoveOn.org? and request that S. Palin not be allowed to appear on one of the army bases (not about her book, or not politically anyway). Her actions and the actions of her followers could be considered domestic terrorism.
ReplyDeleteCan we PLEASE address the "abortion" whiteout story?
ReplyDeleteIn medical terms, miscarriages are referred to as "spontaneous abortions" and a billing or hospital record may reflect that. Medical records are LEGAL documents and it is flatly illegal to alter them including even something as minor as a date.
NO physician or hospital would use whiteout to alter anyone's medical record.
Now suggesting that Sarah might do something like that may be plausible, but I am having trouble with this type of speculation. To those of us in "medical" families, we know how serious that type of medical record alteration would be considered in a court of law.
It would also be grounds to have licensure revoked.
Unlike other professions, nurses and physicians (and many others) all hold State Licenses that are subject to Board Review. I don't know of anyone that could be coerced to violate ethics and legal standards, and risk losing my license to practice.
The fact that Sarah doesn't know Iraq from Iran is not the same thing. She's stupid -we all know that. She might alter a medical record, but I doubt if a hospital or physician would change a medical record on the whim of a nitwit.
The medical info like Sarah's mental diagnosis is not a FACT for most of us. Although, I can agree she could have been diagnosed, it is only my opinion what I think of that. I am of the opinion she is afflicted with serious mental health issues and I'd like to know how the McCain camp got by with not revealing the truth about it. I doubt I'll ever find out.
ReplyDeleteHow Trig was born with his condition can be interesting but it's speculative. I don't think that is too important without the back up. There are people who don't have a clue who their blood relatives are, although, they may think they know. So how can anyone find out if Todd's great grandfather and Sherry's great grandmother were an item? It seems pointless. Bristol also looks almost identical to an aunt of mine, but I'm not related to Bristol. It is interesting and good to have some discussion. I don't think opinions of either Sarah's mental health or origin of Trig's condition have much significance in the 'Sarah is not the biological mother of Trig' matter.
What is scaring me now is that she has apparently picked up some facts and figures (knew that Iran's president's name was Ahmedinejad, knew that they import a good portion of refined petroleum despite being an oil producer and that that could be used against them). Someone is tutoring her and as much as I had hoped she was done, she is not going to go quietly. If she's studying, there is a reason for it.
ReplyDeleteanon@22:47: Sad but every one of those stupid, shallow PalinBots asked to be treated like a stage prop.
ReplyDeleteThey all need to grow a brain and wake up to who and what she is.
The fact that they'd stand there for her benefit is simply reflective of how incredibly DUMB her fans are.
On a personal note, dragging your kid to a mall to have a book signed by a raging sociopath is an indication you also have a screw loose.
Let the crazy loons wait. The mentally ill don't have much to do since Reagan mainstreamed all the mental health facilities to save the almighty dollar.
Andrew Sullivan's post is up. He's very frustrated. Let's let him know we're rooting for him to hang in there.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Sullivan - no proof - no blog
ReplyDeleteRats about Andrew Sullivan. :-(

ReplyDeleteBrad Hanson is definitively in the mix for possible baby daddy or abortion daddy. His ex-wife is in the Palin shenanigans, no one looks at her. Could be a big mistake.
I was just reading the comments from the earlier post about Psalms 109:8. It seems Cafe Press has reversed their decision.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said...
I just got a response from CafePress. Not good, they've changed their minds and are deciding to sell that crap after all! I think we all need to flood their Inbox with protests. Here's their bullcrap message:
Thank you for contacting CafePress.com!
Cafepress looks at content on a case by case basis, and makes decisions about what content is permissible based on our content usage policy.
Anti-presidential gear has been a mainstay at Cafepress since we were founded in 1999 and has become a key component of political discourse. Our site has become a cultural barometer of public opinion and as such designs often come into question. In managing our content we are trying to protect self expression, while making sure we are not advocating violence.
We initially pulled the Psalm 109:8 content from our products today because broader media dialog indicated that these designs potentially suggested violence towards the president. Based on current public discourse and further review of the actual content, we have determined that it is fair political commentary and we are in the process of reinstating this merchandise. As with all of our content, these designs will continue to be reviewed and if at any time their meaning is construed as advocating violence we will revisit our decision.

IT's time to Boycott Cafe Press!!!!
ReplyDeleteIncredable.
ReplyDeleteSo who gets sued when the violence happens. And it will.
GOD??
Send protests to the Army, Sarah should not be at the Bases.
I'm disappointed that Andrew Sullivan couldn't produce anything new on Babygate. But, he continues to be the voice of reason for me in all of this. He speaks the truth--all of this speculation without any proof won't get us anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI just informed Cafe Press I'm ceasing to do business with them.
ReplyDeleteLol... I guess it didnt work after all. Bumper stickers for everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am truly in awe of Palin right now. She can lie through her teeth, and no one ever calls her on it. She gets away with it over and over. She is making tons of money because she lies.
And the best part is her enemies and the bloggers supposedly know her secrets and they wont rat her out either! Ever! She controls everyone.
I wish I had that kind of power. She deserves it for the way she has controlled all of you.
Even Patrick baits her and her lawyer everday and she never takes it. Amazing control of this situation.
CafePress is about to get a couple hundred bucks out of my pocket. Honestly I dont care that they sell those bumper stickers you dont have to buy them. They do sell many things that I want and that I cant find anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteI wont boycott them just because they sell a questionable sticker.
Basheert:
ReplyDeleteI'm just giving my educated, informed opinion. Ethically, I can't diagnose someone I haven't met but I don't have any problem saying that within the cluster, a problem definitely exists.
You're right. A personality disorder by definition is untreatable. A personality disorder is called that because it is fixed, an inherent part of the personality and cannot be changed.
We can treat a borderline personality disorder because one of the main features is depression which can be treated with anti-depressants and must be treated because of the danger to the individual, unfortunately, the personality disorder itself is fixed so the pattern of behavior is not going to change.
Also, someone earlier mentioned people needed to know when others had mental illnesses in order to protect themselves, especially personality disorders and this is absolutely correct. The one thing that you can absolutely depend on when dealing with an individual with a personality disorder is manipulative, self-serving behavior. Children raised by mothers with a PDO are going to need help.
MES: While I agree with the theme of your post, it is important to recognize that Sarah THINKS Ahmadinejad is the president of IRAQ! She keeps talking about oil imports and exports, etc. Watch the YouTube. That was the joke from the beginning. And Hannity is so stupid he let her spout on, all about IRAQ and she even SAID IRAQ!
ReplyDeleteI can only assume that Frick and Frack believe it is one country with 2 names!
RE: the comment that Sarah's mental health isn't relevant.
Do you honestly believe electing a psychotic narcissist as President is not relevant????
This woman has delusions of grandeur and is totally unqualified for the office, if only because of very large and very important mental health issues that would impede her ability to BE President. This idiot is so far off the rocker that she's riding the rails!
That makes her dangerous when we are talking about public office. She is a racist, a religious ideologue, and a threat to the safety of the United States and anyone who differs with her on any or all opinions.
To all those who have run into or had the misfortune to deal with a narcissist in their personal life, I sympathize. This mental defect is very very hard to treat and these individuals are a threat to anyone who disagrees. We are not talking a little OCD, or maybe a mom having trouble coping needing a little medication during a tough time.
NPD is a relatively big bad diagnosis - we have heard and read the testimonies and frankly, every word said by people who have gotten away of these psychotics, is 100% true. Ignoring Sarah's psychosis may very well condemn our country to her insanity.
Ripley in CT --
ReplyDeleteI married into a whole family of them. Smart ones,
except for the youngest daughter. We are VERY lucky
that Sarah is not smart enough to cover her tracks.
I can still hear my husband telling me one time,
"what you see and what you know are two different
things" . . .
Other identifying factors : physical strength (although it may not be obvious), very acute senses, ability to go a long time on very little food,
total lack of self-reflection, very brittle personas.
I feel like a cultural anthropologist studying some
other species. In fact, that seems to be exactly what I am doing. It IS fascinating. And my husband loves me very much. He's not so much NPD as bipolar,
sort of like living with Data from ST:TNG most of the time, but once in a while I realize I am dealing with Lor who is cleverly pretending to be Data. . .
The mother is absolutely classic NPD. People who think that women should run the world have NO IDEA because the women that want to run the world
are exactly the ones who absolutely should not.

Crap! Palins poll numbers are rising.
ReplyDeleteWTF People!
Are ever going to do something about this! All of you who claim to have the goods on her. Why do you keep her secrets for her.
Right now I am blaming you all for Palins rise. Its disgusting.
Maybe you are just palinbots yourselves here to keep those who want the truth at bay.
I am starting to feel really fooled right now.
Kyra - Thank you, your blog was very informative and helpful:

Basheert - I forwarded your comment (re wite-out/abortion) to Andrew Sullivan, along with my thanks to him for trying to make sense of the nonsensical.
Best line from Andrew Sullivan today IMO:
"The story she tells is largely incredible if you assume a rational actor at the center of it. But we do not have a rational actor in the center of it; we have an unbalanced, delusional, ambitious fanatic whose relationship to reality is entirely instrumental and can change from minute to minute."
Anonymous at 00:02
ReplyDeleteRelax. Take a deep breath. It's still a long time till the primaries. Nate Silver (538 dot com) said it's possible she might win the nomination, although doubtful. But no way could she win the election. Remember, she's talking this week about being a Conservative more than a Republican. We haven't had a successful 3rd party candidate and how fabulous would that be to have a Conservative Party split away the 20% Republicans? No way will the independents go for SP.
This book and the documentation of her lies that is now coming out will sink her. Too many people are putting up video next to video and it's clear that in the Palinverse, lying doesn't matter, but to everyone else it does. Most of the country is too smart to let her get away with it for long. She has her followers who are ramping up her numbers (pay attention to who is being polled and the questions they are being asked). It won't last just like it didn't last a year ago.
I agree with you though, people that know things, real facts about illegal activities or ethical violations who are keeping quiet for whatever reason have a lot to answer for.
00:02 - where are Palin's poll numbers rising? Anyway, anytime someone is on TV their poll numbers rise. Duh.
ReplyDelete23:39
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a right wing loon that shot up a Sunday school production of Annie? I think he had O'Reilly books or other nuts instruction books. Well, all the instigators were "innocent," of course.
The Army may not care in the least if anyone protests. Too many in the Army go along with the O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck and Palin thinking. They think the Army needs a morale boost from Palin.
I don't understand why the media is banned. The "librul" media is so dangerous they can't be present to see someone sign books? Is the Army fearful the media presence will tip off unstable military personell and start a riot? I don't understand.
I am having a disconnect with this:
Army fears anti-Obama politics at Palin event
"Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press that the military post's garrison commander and other Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book signing, which will not include a speech. He said the Army did not want the Monday event to become a platform to express political opinions 'directed against the commander in chief.'"
Army fears political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.
Army blames the media? Army bans the media to prevent political grandstanding.
Isn't political grandstanding a success if the media is banned? All the political grandstander has to do is say she will have a book signing.
They tell us that spokesman Tom McCollum, military post's garrison commander and other Army officials decided to keep media away from Palin. They don't tell us if Palin staff made the suggestion.
McCollum said: "The main reason is to stop this from turning into a political platform," he said. "There are Army regulations that basically prohibit military reservations from becoming political platforms by politicians." He said only one politician can use that platform, 'and that person does it as our commander in chief.'"
Who is using the platform? The media or Palin?
I am a frequent buyer at CafePress. In fact, I just sent someone on this site there to buy a SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP bumper sticker, which if you think about it, could apply to anything/anyone unless you KNOW who we are talking about, and it in no way advocates killing anyone. But, I sent CafePress an email asking that they reconsider their decision to leave the products on their website.
ReplyDeleteHow do you write Sullivan?? I don't see a place for comments.
ReplyDeletePatrick has stated several times that "higher ups" in the Republican party in Alaska knew Sarah was not pregnant and/or Bristol was pregnant in 2007 or 2008z
So what is up with these Alaskan politicians?? They should be the ones to bring this to the MSM. Why don't they?? They have let her get away with SO much it's ridiculous. It was very frustrating to watch them when she was governor . If they know the truth about Trig, why don't they say something?
One more thing about NPD and some other personality disorders. It's that they CANNOT self-analyze. They have zero insight and that is why they don't benefit from therapy too much. Have you ever seen Sarah apologize or accept even a tiny bit of responsibility? She can't and she neveral will. Her thinking is very disordered and sick but she is incapable of seeing that. She would be a diaster as president. The criticism is 10000 times what she has dealt with. That's just the way she is. She would be very ineffective. Any people behind her want her to be their puppet. She won't do that.

American males are in a bad way. They have given up on life and going for a scam artist.
Well, the media is not allowed onto the Army base - but private citizens are. PLEASE: whoever lives close to there, go there and tape her/her dimwit followers. Surreptitiously, if needed. There are pens that are cameras/tape recorders...
ReplyDeleteThat was me asking for his address thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am really bummed by his post.
This is never going to come out.
I am convinced.
She gets away with everything and gets paid millions for it! It just isn't right.
I am about to give up.
On a catty note, I put Hannity on for a short tine and she just yacks nonsensebin that high shrill voice. She just repeats the same empty phrases that are meaningless but dumb people wouldn't get it. Like we should do things that Reagan did during the last recession like cut taxes and blah. SARAH you are so stupid!! This recession is much much more severe then under Reagan AND dumbo, the tax rates NOW are much lower then under Reagan! You are so phony! You think you can fool people but you don't.
Second you had WAY too much make up on last night! My God the pancake makeup looked about an inch thick! My boyfriend said "She looks awful" that scrawny face made up so heavily, she used to look pretty," and he never criticizes anyone! He thought you looked 10 years older than you did during the campaign. No wonder Schmidt said you need a nutritionist. And second SARAH why does your hair look so flat and thin compared to when you were on Oprah? Strange! (Meow!!!!)
And Sarah, I don't care what you look like. I think you are a horrible human being. Using God and your children to make money, pander to morons and further your political career.
You have broken so many commandments and you are the opposite of Gods word in your actions. You are a hypocrite and make me sick!!!!! And get Trig intensive early therapy and treatment!!!
For those suggesting SP needs treatment, I just wanted to respond as a trained clinician. A personality disorder is not treatable. In the case of a borderline personality disorder (because it includes depression) some symptoms can be treated, but not the disorder.
ReplyDeleteIt is not a matter of insight or willingness to be treated. The disorder is as basic to who the person is as their eye color. It is not changeable. There are 2 axes of diagnoses in mental health. The first is for things that are treatable (depression, anxiety disorders, ADD, etc.), the second are for the 2 things that are recognized as a mental disorder that are diagnosable but cannot be changed (mental retardation and a personality disorder).
I think we know who Palin admires.

About ANDREW SULLIVAN--
I am sorry that Andrew Sullivan does not feel ready to reveal what he knows. He is a complex and critical thinker. He is always the sharpest tack on Bill Maher's panels. But he is not a political strategist, nor is he ready to be a faceless (egoless) participant in a heart centered attempt to bring truth to a higher level. Oh well, he is good at what he does do and we all have different roles to play in this life.
But lets not despair-
Because WE know the truth folks-- SP did not birth TRIG. This is the truth and it is our truth. More and more thoughtful folks are realizing this. I think it is a mistake to believe that when the MSM says something, that makes it true!
We can continue to work together, creatively, to bring this information to a higher degree of consciousness in the public.
Quite frankly, it is the MSM that is partly responsible for the SP phenomenon to begin with-- so I don't expect them to kill their golden goose until she really is well past her expiration date and is smelling pretty bad.

ReplyDeleteI just did a post on my blog
ReplyDeletethat follows a thread on Sarah's OFFICIAL site about a Palinbot who went to the book signing yesterday.
The funny thing is how those who responded are so anxious to blame OTHERS for her bad experience. Just like Sarah does!
So ... maybe nobody goes to Sarah's Fort Bragg visit, but to get it straight from a Palinbot (and how they were used to make th crowd look huge for Palin's arrival .. is pretty funn!
Dunn was on Entertainment Tonight talking about his book "The Lies of Sarah Palin".
ReplyDeleteThanks anon 20 November 2009 01:05, for the picture of Jan Crouch!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I was flipping through the channels and saw Jan I was stunned. I ended up watching for a while, as I was desperately trying to figure out why she had two different colored wigs on her head.
The following is the number to the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office:
ReplyDelete910-907-5290 - Please write it down.
You will most likely not be able to reach anyone tonight, but please use the number tomorrow and voice your disgust with this whole thing.
The military does nt like controversy, and will shut it down if it gets too many calls and the situtation gets too hot.
H/T BradGd @Huffington Post
I just wrote a letter to Cafe Press and explained why I would be boycotting their site from now on. I will also be informing my family and friends. I am fairly influential in such matters.
ReplyDeleteDid they sell material which advocated, in code, violence against the previous administration? Does anyone know? If so and I had known, I would have boycotted them then. This is not a partisan issue. It is an issue of civics and basic humanity.
I am not feeling too down about Andrew Sullivan. This is one outcome I actually thought was fairly likely: that he would find himself unable to say with any finality what the truth was. I get the impression he is still a bit shell shocked by his day of intense exposure to Palin's book. The complete disregard for fact IS pretty shocking. He seems to correctly identify that her book is more about a construct of who she thinks Sarah Palin should be, and she weaves between fact and fiction to such a degree that without other facts it is impossible to determine what is fact and what is fiction. I think Kyra's term of a "Palinverse" is actually quite a good way to describe this fictional construct that is an ever changing blend of truth and lies, morphing according to situation and whim.
ReplyDeleteI think he is probably more convinced now than he was before she never had Trig. But he can't say what really happened. He's not giving up, though. He definitely wants to expose her if proper evidence is provided to him.
Sullivan doesn't write in a highly emotional style. I find him to be saying that reading her book convinced him even more that she has a profoundly disturbed relation to objective reality. She makes stuff up even when there is no reason to do it, and you can't believe anything she says. How can anyone support a candidate like that? I get the position that as long as Palin seems to have aspirations for high office he's going to keep hounding her lies. Just my opinion.
Have had a life living with family member with NPD, and the toll it takes on a family, and children is almost unbearable. Children usually never know until they're adults that the parent was psychologically abusing them. And, NPD parents always abuse, emotional, withdrawing love, using, hurting, scarring, it's a pattern that does not stop unless another family member intervenes. But that usually doesn't happen, as all members can be seduced by the NPD offender. They are like vampire bats, with double personalities, who can be sweet and charming while company is there, and after everyone leaves, go back to being abusive and hateful.
ReplyDeleteIt's like Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde. I pity any children who have parents like this. They require therapy for years and years.
I prefer to say "Planet Palin" as opposed to "Palinverse," but that is just me.
ReplyDeleteI wrote to Andrew Sullivan and offered him my thoughts about how to continue to "deconstruct" Sarah Palin.
I thought about sharing some of it here, but it's probably not practical enough for the purposes of this blog, although it is "tactical" from an intellectual standpoint.
01:46 - I'm curious to hear it!
ReplyDeleteFedup!!! @ 00:49
ReplyDeleteWhat good would taping her appearance at an army base do? Aren't there already bazillions of examples of her on camera saying stupid, shameless and inflammatory things? What good will any additional examples do? You know her followers are under her hypnotic spell, and the MSM has witnessed her bizarre behavior all through the campaign and it's starting up again now with the book tour. What can recording her remarks (surreptitiously or otherwise) possibly prove? She's saying idiotic things in front of the whole world, courtesy of Oprah and Barbara Walters. Nothing helps.
Anonymous 01:46
ReplyDeleteExactly.
The abuse is often different, but you are exactly right when you say that the children do not recognize it until adulthood because silence and neglect are a form of abuse just as hostility.
Remember Levi talking about Sarah spending all her time in her room watching bridal shows? Where was Piper? My understanding from the book is that Todd was frequently absent for weeks/months at a time. Who was providing emotional support to Piper? Willow? Bristol? Was that a pattern established early on? Most likely.
Watching them during the campaign - their interaction style, how they meshed, oriented their bodies when they stood, sat, etc., concerned me.
IMO, it is wrong for our military to keep the Fourth Estate from the Palin visit to Ft Bragg
ReplyDeleteThis will have two effects:
(a) won’t prevent the media from covering Sarah Palin’s appearance at Fort Bragg and
(b) won’t prevent the event from turning into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.
Ft Bragg: Other members of the public would be permitted to attend the event.
We should all know who should not be near a military base.
Profiling and Palin's trip to Fort Hood
New post up!
ReplyDeleteMore complaints from Palinbots about being 'used' for photo ops. SUckered into standing in line with worthless bookplates instead of 'rubber bands' ...
ReplyDeleteUPDATE
O/T - THE PALIN EFFECT STRIKES AGAIN. Oprah announces she will end her show in 2011.
ReplyDeleteOT - Ed Schultz was talking about salmon populations and those proposed mines in Alaska. Discussing if SPalin could influence for the good as she has not stated her position. A very important food source for mankind, I can't see anyone allowing potentially fatal pollution within a million miles.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the military bases. Those troops are also employees of the United States of America, salary and benefits paid by all United States of America citizens. And one of those employees killed his follow countrymen and countrywomen, because of his personal beliefs. He was entitled to his beliefs, but this is a government of laws and not men. Any threat should have been addressed in order to protect other employees. I heard the Air Force has a mega church built right there for the troops, somewhere overseas, but I don't know if that is accurate.
The photos are evidence of SPalin's deception, as was shared on a thread ago about court evidence, i.e., photos or folks' memory. The photo dated March 14, 2008, supports my objective opinion that SPalin faked that pregnancy. And that is why I support all the work of palingates and other bloggers. The MSM has yet to provide any such evidence.
Governor Barbour of MS was on Hardball saying he knew of nothing that would disqualify SPalin to be POTUS. He said she's smart, at those meetings she talked about energy, etc.
Thanks, Patrick, for another great post! (Yeah, I'm ADHD, too. There's no test, only objective opinion as to exhibited behavior. Same as what folks have been discussing here.)
The woman is an idiot and so is Fox. On Hannity's show last night, she said:
ReplyDelete"Cutting off the imports into Iraq, of their refined petroleum products. They're reliant -- 40 to 45 percent of their energy supply is reliant on those imports. We have some control over there.
"And some of the beneficial international monetary deals that Iraq benefits from -- we can start implementing some sanctions there and start really shaking things up, and telling Ahmadinejad, nobody is going to stand for this."
She can't even distinguish Iraq from Iran. Where does she send Track's care packages, or is it out of sight out of mind?

On the matter of Sarah Palin, Newsweek magazine, and THE SEXISM, I think that the Washington City Paper's Amanda Hess has basically won the entire discussion.
ReplyDeleteIs the Newsweek cover sexist? Yes. But let's put the photo back into context for a minute: Sarah Palin's entire existence is sexist.
Let's try to imagine, for a moment, the thought process that went into creating this Newsweek cover image : "We need to convey that Palin sucks really bad! Let's take some photo of Palin lookin' sexy, slap it on the cover of Newsweek, and then use her sexuality in attempt to draw attention to all the terrible things this woman has brought upon us."
Hey! That sounds kind of like what John McCain did when he chose Palin as his VP: Found an attractive lady, slapped her on to his campaign, and used her image as a sexy lady in order to distract people from her scant qualifications, her total lack of concern for women's issues, and her complete suckiness as a candidate.

ArmchairJane: I wonder if the Atlantic didn't tell him, fine take the day off, make a huge deal of this but if you don't find proof, you have to let it go, for now. Pressure could have been put on the magazine....
ReplyDeleteHe will NOT let this go. I feel he has my level of revulsion and I am not letting it go!
wv is drali, as in d'rail?
@Rationalist, thank you for your interest. I will try to give a short version.
ReplyDeleteSullivan rightly discussed "the Palin myth." She has created a mythic narrative for the right. That's why they call her a "fertility goddess." The "wonderbirth" of Trig is part of that fertility goddess myth. (The Fringe Right is so impotent that they need "fertility," but that's another topic.)
Tactically, one must start trying to deconstruct her in religious terms. The "facts" don't matter to those caught in a religious myth.
So one has to start asking: How and why do myths fade? When the ritual & the story are disconnected from delivering spiritual "transformation," myths die.
This is what needs to be communicated to her followers, as they see her in spiritual terms--not political terms.
But what has she delivered? She has failed to transform them in spiritual terms. This is what needs to be explored if you want to reach her supporters, IMO. She offers a spiritual promise which she has yet to keep.
y'all don't worry too much about sullivan.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that he is overwhelmed at her audacity and insanity, and probably just needs some time to digest it all.
he'll call her out on her lies, don't worry.
This issue with banning press coverage from the Fort Bragg "book tour" visit really disturbs me. If the military is worried this will turn into a partisan event, then they should ban the event, not the press.
ReplyDeleteThe press is also being kept out of the College of the Ozarks event. That event is at least held at a private college, I believe.
But for a military base to ban the press yet let Palin in for this book tour really disturbs me. I feel like they are SURE there will be partisan activity against the CIC aand they just want to keep the public from seeing it. If they think there will be partisan activity, DON'T ALLOW THE EVENT!
We already know Palin likes to keep the media out of her events unless they are ones where she expects to get to show herself off. If she really doesn't get to speak, she's probably not all that thrilled, since she'll only have to sign more books. I find myself skeptical that they will really stop her from giving a speech.
I'll certainly be calling. Might call some other folks too, like those in Congress on the appropriate committees with some oversight over the military.
The military needs to clean up its act. I am worried about the infiltration of the dominionists into our armed forces and the evangelizing that has been allowed unchecked for years.
P.S. When Palin's supporters willingly sacrifice their own food budget to donate to SarahPAC, they are "tithing" to her as a spiritual figure--not as a politician.
ReplyDeleteanon@2:16 says: "wv is drali, as in d'rail?"
ReplyDeleteNo - it is Dr. ali - as in Dr. Alibi.
It is becoming obvious to rational observers that SP is delusional. Mentally disturbed, possibly mentally ill. I look forward to the day when she is off the stage, cannot harm others, cannot incite violence - that is the day I will be able to feel compassion for her.
One more point on the Sherry-Bristol thing: guys have been known to be attracted to girls who take after dear old Mum. Doesn't prove a thing, of course, just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteThe Army is allowing Sarah Palin to politically grandstand but they will not allow the press to see her do it. Did they fall down the rabbit hole? Up is down? I don't trust that spokesman McCollum. He knows SPalin is the grand stander.
ReplyDeleteSPalin babbles trying to be policy oriented with Limbaugh and Hannity. She is a tragic disaster. She is not who writes the carp on that FB. Does the Army get that?
Her symbolism is her statement without words and she says she is anti-Commander in Chief. She speaks to a fringe group that gets her code talk. She does not have to open her mouth because her face is all it takes to communicate to the religious extremists in the military, she doesn't have to say a word against our President, she exudes that vibe. Can't the security people clue the Army in on the fact of the rise in death threats? It makes no sense how someone with that much grandstanding in her bones and is so outspoken against the Commander in Chief would be allowed near a U.S. military base.
She is THE SYMBOL for many that know what her message is. If the Army is going to allow her without press they need to explain a few things.
BAN THE GRAND STANDER! NOT THE PRESS!
Thank you Ella: Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office: 910-907-5290 - Please write it down.
So many interesting comments on several tracks that it is hard to keep up!
ReplyDelete@anon 02:16, I really do think the day off to digest the book was Sullivan's decision, but either way, I agree that he is not letting it go. I think he said as much, and he continued to post real slams on Palin all day long :-)
Anon 01:46, I think it is a very good point that Palin's followers see her in mythological terms. Sullivan does seem to be on to this, and who knows, he may come up with some ways to deconstruct the myth. I do think Sarah made a big mistake losing so much weight and by having whatever the "work" she had done. She looks much older now. I think that by getting so thin and having those 'updates' that made her face look so similar to Barbara Walters - well let's just say that the new look is a lot less "fertile" than her old one.
@Reesie, IMO, besides the superficial sexism of the cover, there is so much more there that is telling about her image and appeal: Palin has her hair done in a style that looks more like middle or high school, and she's posing like a cheerleader or pageant queen. She's holding those blackberries. She's got the service flag on the window behind her - and she moves that flag all over the house so as to get it in as many photos as possible. She's got the flag there, but is not even treating it respectfully. The Alaskan scenery is visible through the window so we're reminded of what a frontier gal Sarah is.
She complains that a man would not be put on the cover in his shorts. "It's cheesy", Palin says about Newsweek having made the decision to use that image on the cover. How about the image itself is cheesy??? Palin dolled up to look like a schoolgirl or cheerleader and posing appropriately. So she's young and fertile - check! Service flag in window: she loves and supports the military! And she's a mom of a soldier! Blackberries in hand, she is so capable and busy she needs two of them - the woman who can do it all and still look feminine! The flag - Sarah is above all a patriot!! Even though many people would find that use of the flag very inappopriate... I am guessing some fans of Sarah who think that flag is just fine in this pic would have a completely different reaction if it were Hillary Clinton, or imagine if it were Michelle Obama leaning on it?! I am sure that if either of those women were leaning on the flag that way that we would never hear the end of it. Instead the discussion in the media has been focused nearly entirely on the fact that Palin is in shorts and looking "sexy". My opinion is that this photo is a good visual that encapsulates the myth of Palin as fertility goddess/mother protector of our country and military and queen of the Alaskan frontier. I really think nobody else in the country could pull off posing for this photo, and have the right wing complain only about the "sexism" but not about the use of the flag as a prop or the choice to do the photo in the first place.

ReplyDeleteI am certainly not going to come right out and say that you are lying...but I can't help but wonder in what context you think that it's "common knowledge" in Wasilla that Track isn't Todd's? I'm a lifelong Alaskan- Anchorage born and bred, Valley native of 20+ years by marriage. Because Sarah's first three children and my own were semi-close in age, she and I traveled in the same circles in terms of school, kids' sports activities, etc. Naturally, as Sarah got on everyone's b*tch list pretty fast (anyone recall the time she showed up at a bake sale with not one hair out of place, showing us up in our mom jeans and ratty shoes... outrageously and blithely claiming several of the best selling items as her own creations despite her not having brought so much as a tictac) she became the subject of gossip and rumor among the other moms.
For a period of several years, the question of affairs kept coming up over and over. It was routine for some to lean in and whisper "WELL, I heard Sarah..." which would be followed by any number of salacious rumors! One thing that persisted was the rumor that Sarah was bed-hopping just prior to her and Todd's "elopement"- more on THAT later...anyway, I heard a number of versions of the story but all included Sarah panicking when she found out she was pregnant; not so much because she hadn't been planning on it, but because she didn't know who the father was.
The story I heard was this: Sarah did know who the other father(s) were, but that Todd was a much more suitable pick in terms of being husband/father material.
Todd had been feeling her lack of enthusiasm for the relationship and when she approached him saying she was "so in love" with him and just HAD to marry him right NOW, let's elope...he was thrilled. The underlying reason for her sudden, desperate show of "love"...was twofold, legend goes: Todd, as mentioned, was much better husband and provider material than the other possibility(ies)...and if the baby turned out NOT to be Todd's, she hoped he'd view a divorce as too humiliating so soon after marrying to really consider it.
Here is the wrap up of the story, nearly identical no matter when and from whom I heard it: apparently from the moment of Track's birth, Sarah WAS sure he was Todd's. Newborn photos off Todd and Track side by side could have passed for twins, and by the time Track was six months old, his eyes had turned the exact same blue-green of Todd's.
Even if I wrote all that off as gossip, having seen Todd 15-20 years ago and seeing Track NOW...I would not think twice about believing they are genetically father and son...Track really does resemble Todd at around the same age, before Todd's face filled out more and lost some of those youthful angles.
My point in telling all that wasn't to support or not support anyone's particular theory about Track's parentage. It was to point out that for a long, long time here in the valley, rumors persisted that painted Sarah as someone who would enter into a sham marriage to avoid being exposed as the loose-moraled person she was. Not that that surprises anyone.
Anon, I hope I didn't offend you...I just thought your "common knowledge" statement should be considered only part of the story as the rumors I mentioned were told and retold over and over WITHOUT any significant changes, across multiple years and by multiple people...and that leads me to think there is truth to those rumors.
Patrick, I am still planning to sit down and email you this weekend! Although my information regarding Sarah is anecdotal and probably of no consequence to any "gates"...it is still going to feel great to purge my brain of twenty years of putrid Palin memories!
@3:10 - Those who monitor the pro-Palin site comments on a regular basis can probably tell you all the different quotes they've read about folks sacrificing their own budgets to give to Palin.
ReplyDelete@Armchair Jane, thanks for your reflections. I love your posts. They are always so measured and well-written. I will call Ft. Bragg tomorrow.
I have struggled for so long to understand how Palin's supporters disregard facts and still "believe" in her. They won't care, for example, that she doesn't know Iraq from Iran.
But today, after reading Sullivan, a light bulb has gone off for me. She is their proxy "warrior-Mary" maternal figure. In the same way that a "macho Jesus" has been bizarrely constructed in some versions of Chrisitianity, so Palin now functions as a Mary stand-in. The "wonderbirth" story is part of that.
All the facts in the world won't matter to these people. Look how they blame Barnes & Noble when Sarah decided to stop signing books in Grand Rapids!
No, facts will not convince them of her lack of value. It is a religious argument to them. I feel better prepared knowing that.
Remember how McCain-Palin supporters made fun of Obama supporters and referred to him as "The One"? I could never get that. It is THEIR religious projection; they bought into a religious construction of the 2008 Elections.
Palin went along with the Runner's World sexist cover, so why not Newsweek. too? I was sickened by her disregard of the flag. She has been using sexism so long it hardly matters. Her disrespect for the flag, our President, the Commander in Chief and those things trouble me more.
ReplyDeleteThe RW cover was said to be cheesy, she reads the blogs and is repeating what she heard about the first cover. I hope she can see how tacky she looks to others with that second cover.
She is sooooo photoshopped in that picture.
ReplyDeleteCan I please ask all of you...if you are talking about a link such as Andrew sullivan, can you please Line it somehow either by embedding the link or just posting? Thanx! :D
ReplyDeleteMakes it easier for everyone.
@3:46 - did you read Patrick's post? The link is there already.
ReplyDelete03:46, I will try to do better on the links. I am not good at embedding, but I will try to remember to put in the link so that you can cut and paste it in. That's what I usually do when somebody pastes in a web address.
ReplyDeleteThis is the address for the story where Sullivan discusses his most recent "deconstruction" of Sarah, and the religious nature of her narrative to her fans:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/11/deconstructing-sarah-ctd-2.html
He writes enough interesting stuff that I often just go to his main page with all the posts for the day. That is at
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/
Thank you, ValleyKW for the information. It will take more people like you to out this woman.
ReplyDeleteFrom her introduction by McCain, I have felt the woman was a fraud. Years of watching people and listening to people to determine their honesty, I have felt Sarah lies. Sometimes, it is not what she says, but what she doesn't say that bothers me.
Her inability to show real maternal instincts toward her children bothers me. Since the resignation, her eyes are dull and I would guess she might be medicated.
In March, I had a premonition about Sarah and so far two of the four things have happened. While I hope the other two incidents don't happen for the sake of an innocent person, I believe the woman has a severe problem.
Anon @2:06 again, listen, I joined the corporate world, so everyone is an employee to me. I don't want to give the impression I don't have the highest regard for military personnel. I wished I had joined the military back when I was young. I would have made it a career and I tell that to all the young folks.

Anyway, the Anti-Defamation League issued a report today looking at the various sources that have given rise to a climate of anti-government fervor in the United States.
"·Conspiracy Theories: One of the most disturbing trends in the rise of anti-government sentiment has been the resurrection and proliferation of conspiracy theories alleging dark, violent designs on the part of the federal government to "declare martial law" and end democratic government, to confiscate firearms from American citizens and to build hundreds of concentration camps to house "dissidents." These theories have spread far and wide on social-networking sites.
"·The Resurgence of the Militia Movement: The rise of anti-government sentiment has paralleled a resurgence of the militia movement, an anti-government extremist movement that has a long history of criminal activity and violence. Within the past two years, the movement has almost quadrupled in size, growing to more than 200 groups in the United States. It is the most receptive audience for the extreme anti-government conspiracy theories and their radicalizing potential.
...
"· Media Influence: Some segments of the mainstream media have played a surprisingly active role in generating anti-government sentiment. Though a number of media figures and commentators have taken part, the media personality who has played the most active role has been radio and television host Glenn Beck, who along with many of his guests have made a habit of demonizing the Obama administration and promoting conspiracy theories about it."

@4:55 - I think this is very interesting info you've shared. My husband tells me almost every day that the #1 thing promoted online are conspiracy theories.
ReplyDeleteDeconstructing Andrew Sullivan:
ReplyDeleteAs a long-time Trig Truther (as well as a loyal reader of "The Daily Dish"), I was excited yesterday afternoon to see that Andrew Sullivan and his staff had taken the day off to focus exclusively on an examination of Palin's lies and the "possibility..of..a huge scandal." Visiting the Dish again yesterday evening, I was electrified to read that Sullivan would be "up half the night trying to write a post on the great mystery of the stories about Trig, stories that have bedeviled the blogosphere and many others for months."
Wow, I thought, perhaps someone had finally provided Sullivan with solid, insider details of the fraud that is Palin's "bizarre pregnancy/labor story." While his "Update" post noted that he didn't have "proof," he stated that he did have "a much more nuanced and detailed narrative," and that what was previously "obscure" had been illuminated. "Stay tuned," posted Sullivan. You betcha!
I know many of you share the shock I felt when, checking the Dish this afternoon, I found post after post that had nothing whatsoever to do with yesterday's tantalizing teases. In fact, there were 27 posts on Thursday before Sullivan finally published his profoundly disappointing (and, IMO, disingenuous) "Deconstructing Sarah, Ctd" entry at 5:11 pm EST.
What happened, Mr. Sullivan? Did your whistleblower flake out? Did The Atlantic's lawyers issue a gag order? God forbid, did one of Palin's fanatical minions threaten your life or your family?
Why has this matter suddenly become so "dizzying"? Why did you and your crew need to go dark so you could simply reiterate what you've been saying for a year (that you can't prove what you sense is the truth about the Trig birth fraud)?
You say you "thought there might be some new facts in here." I'm sorry, but I just don't believe you. No one who's followed Palin so closely would ever imagine that her book would contain any "facts" at all, let alone new ones. All I can conclude from this fiasco is that you were expecting to be able to publish "external evidence" that abruptly slipped from your grasp. Your post is casuistry.
Don't assert today that "if I can't disprove her accounts of things only she and her family can know about, I should shut up." You could have said that a year ago.
Palin is beyond dangerous. Under certain (unlikely but possible) conditions, she could become the president of the United States. Her multifarious deceits -- preeminently her manifestly implausible tale about Trig -- must be exposed. None of us "still have plenty of time," Mr. Sullivan. If you had proof that (for whatever reason) you cannot publish, you nevertheless have an unqualified responsibility to divulge that constraint to your readers.
""""Mr. Sullivan. If you had proof that (for whatever reason) you cannot publish, you nevertheless have an unqualified responsibility to divulge that constraint to your readers.""""
ReplyDeleteIf he had proof and he didn't want to publish it, there is no other way to make certain it got into the right hands and the fraud was exposed?
Ella, as one of the folks here who has had the misfortune of watching NPD up close, my advice is, don't hold your breath. Whether you call it mental illness or not, full-blown NPD is deeply, stunningly pathological. People will look you in the eye and tell you with all apparent sincerity that the sky is green. And as the experts have said, there is no cure, and I don't believe people like this ever get to the point where they think they need to be cured. In Scarah's case, she won't ever go away because the die-hard nut-case believers won't ever go away, or be dissuaded. More possible that she will keep talking, keep sounding like a delusional and vindictive idiot, and the Republican/Conservative power base will distance themselves, maybe do what they can to bring her down. Actually I think there's no question we're on that road already; the question is, how far can it take us.

AK Sandhills:
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Newsweek cover, I am simply astounded at Palin's cognitive dissonance regarding the cover that she herself posed for. She should certainly be aware that it is up to HER to control her own image. It is certainly convenient to pose as a patriotic fitness buff cheerleader when it suits her purposes and then cry sexism when the same image is used in a different context.

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your comments - I will wait patiently! ;-)
May I ask her supporters. Why does Sarah need your 100 dollars a month, while you live on rice dishes?
ReplyDeleteShe looks very well off from what I can see. A new chateau, Plenty of cash.
I can't understand this denial of your childrens well being as to food for her, what???????
More expensive WIGS?
If Sarah Palin is such a loser then why is Alaska in such good shape? This sight is one of the dumbest things I have ever stumbled on. And the explanation for Obama....is??????
