Hurrah! Health Care Bill passed!

Health Care legislation has passed in the House of Representatives in a 220-215 vote. Now we just have to wait for the Senate to vote on it.

Sarah Palin's ghostwriter had something to say about it on Facebook:

We’ve got to hold on to hope, and we’ve got to fight hard because Congressional action tonight just put America on a path toward an unrecognizable country.

The same government leaders that got us into the mortgage business and the car business are now getting us into the health care business.

Make no mistake: we’re on course to have government commandeer one-sixth of our economy. The people who gave us Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac now want to run our health care. Think about that.

There's a veiled threat to the Senate in the closing paragraph:

We need to let our legislators in Washington know that they still represent us, and that the majority of Americans are not in favor of the “reform” they are pushing. After all, this is still a country “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” We will make our voices heard. It’s on to the Senate now. Our legislators can listen now, or they can hear us in 2010. It’s their choice.

- Sarah Palin

She's right about one thing: Congressional action tonight just put America on a path toward an unrecognizable country.

Yes, the US will be unrecognizable, it will be better! The largest economy in the western world has finally caught up with other countries, where healthcare is seen as a basic human right.

Why is Sarah Palin so against a more equitable society? Her values and principles are very much out of date, they show the ugly face of capitalism in a world where we should all look out for each other, where we can no longer accept the enormous gulf between the haves and have-nots.

Good bye, Sarah. We're moving on, embracing 21st century values, working towards a better world. Enjoy your tea party with the rest of the dinosaurs.

  2. Yeah!! Healthcare for the USA!!

Let's see what the Senate will do now...

    I hear Leonard Cohen singing:

  4. Yup...that's our $carah....leaving her comments with a threat. She loves that. Honest to God, she thinks the world revolves around her opinion. Who is she? She is a Nobody...a quitter. Governing got too hard for her so she quit for some big bucks. (How is the Chateau coming $carah?) Now she wants the country to listen to her opinion? First of all, there is no way $carah wrote that. So, will she get all her so called Barbarians to get ther guns and....do what? Give it up...take your money and go take a nice vacation somewhere and stay out of national politics. You are not equipped to be the savior.

  7. I'm a member of the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee on Facebook...not because I like her (I can't stand that woman) but so I can "understand" her cultish followers. They never cease to astound me with their ignorance, bigotry, hatred, and lies. Whenever I post a comment that refutes their facts, they get angry and accuse me of being "negative." One Palinista even called me a "liberal, progressive FASCIST"!!!

The Palinistas believe that Obama "stole" the election (but their beloved Bush did not) and is "ignorant" and "incompetent." One Palinista claimed that Obama was "the most hated leader in the world" and that historians have already judged his presidency a "failure." Its amazing that these people were blindly loyal to Bush for eight years and now they project all of Bush's flaws onto Obama, who has to clean up Bush's mess. And they believe that Palin is the only one who can save our country.

A trip to Palin's Facebook is like a trip to the Twilight Zone. I simply DO NOT UNDERSTAND how so many people can believe things that are obviously untrue. Why would anyone willingly allow themselves to be lied to and conned? First Bush, now Palin. At some point, you just want to shake some sense into them. Or at least hope that some scam artist in Nigeria will con them out of their bank accounts!

Nigeria, Alaska .. whatever .. different place, same goal. Scam money from stupid people.

  10. In contrast with the bitter, dead-ender Sarah Palin, here is Obama's statement:

Tonight, in an historic vote, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would finally make real the promise of quality, affordable health care for the American people.

The Affordable Health Care for America Act is a piece of legislation that will provide stability and security for Americans who have insurance; quality affordable options for those who don't; and bring down the cost of health care for families, businesses, and the government while strengthening the financial health of Medicare. And it is legislation that is fully paid for and will reduce our long-term federal deficit.

Thanks to the hard work of the House, we are just two steps away from achieving health insurance reform in America. Now the United States Senate must follow suit and pass its version of the legislation. I am absolutely confident it will, and I look forward to signing comprehensive health insurance reform into law by the end of the year.

  13. Another convention of angry and clueless white people stormed into Washington, DC the other day, determined to destroy the type of health care reform that - if it goes into effect - will surely save the lives of most of the protesters who were in attendance (or their loved ones). It was the sort of weird, indescribable spectacle that makes the train-wreck of American politics (not to mention the got-busting stupidity of so many Americans) such a perverse delight to behold these days. Let's face it: crazy people are always loads of fun to watch - and the knuckleheads who showed up in Washington last week didn't disappoint.

At least one person held up a huge sign that showed a pile of bodies, victims of the European holocaust of the thirties and forties. Above this gruesome reminder of humanity's capacity for evil were the words:

NATIONAL SOCIALIST HEALTH CARE - DACHAU, GERMANY, 1945

Isn't that sweet? That seems to be quite a popular thing to do these days - equating anything connected with this administration and this president to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. It kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? But the highlight of the day (for my money anyway) was Congressman John Boehner. He held up a copy of what he claimed was his own personal copy of the Constitution and proceeded to quote from "it":

"We hold these truths to be self-evident - that all men are created equal."

That's not from the Constitution, Johnny. That's from the Declaration of Independence - which was written thirteen years earlier! Were we able to go back in time to 1966 - when I was in the third grade - I could have told you that then, too. When we've gotten to a point where our elected representatives can't even get basic American history right, we're in, as Harry Truman liked to say, "one hell of a fix."

Dick Armey, Sarah Palin and the rest of the ultra-cons are preying on the ignorance of people in order to advance an agenda that would actually put their supporters in a deeper economic hole.

  17. there is nothing Christian in worrying about your taxes because we all need access to affordable healthcare

I am so sick of their worship of the Free Market Jesus, which is a fiction they invented so they can continue to pursue treasure on earth instead of storing up treasure in heaven.

I was in an end-times Christian church in my early teens and I had no problem with the real Jesus, but his followers are a piece of work.

  18. Sarah should be happy with bill... it will allow her freeloading daughter Bristol to be on her health care policy until she is 27 years old.

Ever wonder what health insurance policy is covering Tripp? Maybe one of those government programs for children of poor parents.

  19. Hurray!

Here is the list of the Representatives who voted yes or no:

    http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/111/house/1/votes/887/

(click on Democratic to see the list of the 39 Democrats who voted no)

Please note if you have a Democratic Rep. from your state who voted no and get active in your state. Ask your Rep. how much the insurance industry paid them to vote against the Affordable Health Care for America Act.

  20. Here is an interactive graphic where you can see how the vote went down by congressinal district. We should check this against the stops on Sarah's Travelin' Salvation Show when the full schedule is out.

  21. I hope the rest of the process goes as well. It will be good, also, if the insurance industry's antitrust exemption is deleted.

Also, if the IRS would crack down on church's that engage in illegal political activities we would be a lot better off. There is video/audio from inside Palin's church, which documents the problem.

Also, too, Sarah Palin told her former church that what she does as governor is useless if the hearts of Alaskans aren't right with God.

  22. i like this part because i have a son :D

...and would allow young adults to stay on their parents' insurance until their 27th birthdays

Perhaps they could add something in there that says, perhaps, over 21 they need to be working or be a student but either way
I was the one that posted on IM about being prego when my healthcare under my mom ran out at age 22.. i turned 22 in june.. gave birth in july

I have concluded all the Sarah Palin love fest is based on people that want to shake their fist at anything Pres Obama wants to do and wants some public voice to speak their meanness and rant on and on like incoherent fools ...
    = Sarah Palin

    ReplyDelete
  23. I just read Shannyn Moore's assessment of Palin's Fire and Brimestone FB rant

Palin reminds me of the town drunk that would stumble into public places creating mayhem but people would just laugh at the old fool and some kind strangers would haul him back to his hole to sleep off his latest drunkfest
But eventually, when the drunk fool swaggers one to many times into something like, say a bigwig's wedding reception .. it is no longer funny
Eventually people are like Get rid of that fool once and for all.. it was cute, perhaps a bit entertaining for awhile but enough is enough
    Put a cork in it

I hope people in Washington are realizing Palin is like that drunk fool
She has no accountability now that she is no longer Gov
She is just a drunk (not by booze but by her narcissism)
The way to shut the fool up once and for all and prevent her mindless swaggering into places she doesn't belong bringing her equally off-kiltered minions with her .. doing nothing but wrecking havoc..
Is to find that nasty dirt on her and stop being nice and polite about it.. spill the beans
    Bring her down
I truly think people with power see her "family" and new "baby" and little sweet "Piper" and are like.. we can't be "cruel" ... let's just keep putting her back outside (like the drunk) .. she really isn't doing any harm..
But her latest attack was just sick

I truly feel sorry for her family. She used to be able to be a prick in the closed quarters of the Gov office.. now her post is her own home.. geesh has to be fun at the dinner table.. she is probably nonstop zipping down hateful post it notes and on the phone constantly yelling and screaming...
"Mom, can you take me to basketball practice" NOT NOW!!!! What's that Rush? I know we gotta bring this President down! He is destroying our country
Her poor kids hear this end time fear driven the president is evil stuff while they are just sitting there watching tv.. sick puppy she is

  25. That is sooo RAM's writing. No doubt about it.

I'm with anon at 15:45, I'm hoping for this to go through the Senate so that I can keep my youngest on our insurance. With so many children in graduate school for years, it can be frightening for parents. My husband and I have wonderful insurance, paid for by the U.S. Government (retired military), but it runs out when the kids turn 21, even if they're still in school. I would like to hit Sarah Palin over the head.

  26. Interesting that Sarah Palin argued that there was a national interest in the NY-23 congressional election to justify interjecting herself there, but apparently hasn't heard a word about the national interest that has been expressed in the polls that indicate most of the people want a public option, and probably a stronger one than the was passed last night.

  32. Anon@ 16:03 I really like
your analogy about the drunk and how we need to stop enabling him/her. Yes, I do think that at this point the way to deal with SP is indeed to open that Pandora's Box. Since SP is continuing to adjust her story about her "pregnancy" with Trig, we can be sure that her book will not have a tearful "come to Jesus" truth telling moment. That means all hell will eventually break loose when it does come out. If we think that her followers are upset now about the health care bill passing in the House, WAIT. There will be lots of strokes and heart attacks "a-comin'" And my, my, just when these folks are in their hour of need, I wonder how
they'll feel about a public option for health care!

    ReplyDelete
  33. People I know would sacrifice their health care if their children were cared for. That seems to be what happens to families around here.

The discrepancies with the wealthy who can afford both their own quality medical care and their childrens verses what goes on with hard working parents is a major concern for some. I know people who can't afford health ins b/c they have so many bills to pay for the children. It would be nice to hear from those that understand what it's like for others. Palin says she does. Her power from facebook make her the go to person for large groups of believers on healthcare. Insanity does not mean a person can't vote.

Congress and Senate members have quality medical care while they pass the laws for the rest of us. These variances are worth noting.

Levi is paying child support. I don't know about Tripp's medical expenses. This next year could put Levi in a better position to share custody and expenses for their son. Bristol was possibly the big money earner last year. Other celebrity women who make more money take care of the children.

There is no reason for Bristol to freeload. She made more than most kids will in a life time.

Bristol needs to make herself visible with her work to help teen pregnancy. She can relate to unwed mothers who are left with the responsibilities of caring for their young.
