Sarah Palin, pro-native, gay friendly, all American feminist?
Wayne Anthony Ross has quite an interesting history and made a number of even more interesting statements on important issues.
Sarah Palin's choice of Attorney General speaks volumes about her claims regarding natives, homosexuality, real Americans and feminism.
Sarah Palin cannot possibly be against natives. Some native groups expressed concerns about WAR's appointment.
Palin dismissed their concerns, saying her husband and children are part Native.
"I'm not anti-Native and Wayne Anthony Ross is not anti-Native. I would never hire anybody who is," Palin said. (ADN)
Sarah Palin cannot be against homosexuals, because, as she told Katie Couric, one of her dearest and best loved friends is a lesbian.
"But as for homosexuality, I am not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their adult personal relationships. I have one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years happens to be gay, and I love her dearly. And she is not my "gay friend," she is one of my best friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn't a choice that I have made. But I am not going to judge people." (Katie Couric interview transcript)
Sarah Palin cannot be against America. She went as far as claiming that real Americans were to be found in small towns like Wasilla, her own homestead.
"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. (HuffPo)
“I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town,” I grew up with those people. They’re the ones who do some of the hardest work in America, who grow our food, and run our factories, and fight our wars. They love their country in good times and bad, and they’re always proud of America.” (Article, The Moderate Voice)
Sarah Palin is definitely a feminist! She said that Hillary Clinton shouldn't whine about the way she was being treated by the media during the primaries, accusing them of being sexist, because that didn't help other women striving for equality, like Sarah Palin herself.
Wayne Anthony Ross said a few things this week.
On protected subsistence rights for natives in rural Alaska:
"But the problem with subsistence is that some people felt that they should have more rights than other people, and instead of sitting down and working out to make sure that subsistence was protected… you can’t have “those who have” and “those who have not” and not develop enemies." (Previous post, palingates)
On the US government:
"You don’t go to Washington D.C. anymore. Washington D.C. is not friends with Alaska. The General’s job is not to cause casualties with its own people. The General’s job is to win the war against the enemy." (Previous post, palingates)
His view on homosexuality:
During a fight several years ago over gay rights, Allison Mendel, an attorney, helped organize Anchorage lawyers in support of an anti-discrimination ordinance.
Ross wrote a nasty (public) letter to the Bar Association newsletter, using words like "immoral", "perversion" and "degenerates". (Diary, Pam's House Blend)
Back in 1991, on women's rights, WAR was overheard saying:
“If a guy can’t rape his wife…who’s he gonna rape?” and “There wouldn’t be an issue with domestic violence if women would learn to keep their mouths shut.” (Shannyn Moore, HuffPo)
There is a very wide gulf between what Sarah Palin says and what Sarah Palin does.
It appears to me that she pays lip service to all the issues outlined above, having a few soundbites for each occasion, but when it comes to the crunch, she shows her true colours.
Sarah Palin is, in her actions, a bigoted anti-native, anti-gay, not too American pseudo-feminist.
Sarah Palin's choice of Attorney General is a good indication of how she really stands on these issues.
.
On the matter of feminism, didn't Sarah herself whine about the media being sexist(as well as elitist, of course)? She also seems to define feminism as "all women should support me just because I'm a woman".
ReplyDeleteyou should post that video everyday so people can see what a hypocrite she really is. im assuming this is right before she gave "birth"
ReplyDeletelexky,
ReplyDeleteYes, she was heavily "pregnant" at the time. Her posture is definitely that of a very pregnant woman, don't you think? If she managed to lean forward a bit further, the baby might have come out of her a$$...
Oh, our lying eyes!

ReplyDeleteHOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A CHOICE! This statement alone MUST disqualify this idiot/loon from any type of National office.
Palin lacks the ability to match a simple subject and predicate. I get whiplash listening to her talk.
ReplyDeleteNor can Palin think in a logical manner--if her choppy language flow is any indication of the mishmashed trajectory of her brain. It is so appalling that this person is still a sitting governor anywhere. I feel for you, Alaska.
Not only does Palin need an Ethics class, she needs a remedial English class and a two full semesters in Logic.
If she managed to lean forward a bit further, the baby might have come out of her a$$...
ReplyDelete----------------------------
ROTFL
Every time she opens her mouth, it get worse.
ReplyDeleteShe's an intellectual desert.
Can you just see this woman meeting world leaders?
Basheert...I still thank God every day that she is not our Vice President. Can you imagine her at any type of event that would actually call for her to answer questions from the press? Palin would have been more of an embarrassment that Bush...much more.
ReplyDeleteI never actually heard this clip in its entirety. It is shocking, considering how Palin has WHINED incessantly about the liberal media elite, endlessly since McCain cursed us with this monster. And the fact that she was supposedly 5 weeks away from delivering a 6 pond baby when she attended this conference is absolutely unbelieveable! Please Sarah, STFU from now on...
regina,
ReplyDeletethat was one of the greatest comments ever
My husband has a friend who is gay - nice guy ... physician... and when we were introduced it was SO obvious this guy really "likes" my husband. Now hubs being "a guy" sort of laughed and said he had figured it out. Our friend is VERY open, and VERY "out there"...a lot of mutual friends don't like him.
ReplyDeleteAnd I CAN tell you this man did not choose to be gay. His life has been literally HELL.
It was kind of sad actually -
SP is an ignorant bigot. Anyone who has a gay family member or friend KNOWS that it is not a choice, any more than being heterosexual is a choice. It just is what it is. Imagine as a straight person trying to force yourself to be gay! Somehow, I just don't think it would work.
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree with the above comments about SP being an ignorant bigot for believing that being gay is a choice. What an idiot!!
ReplyDeleteGood points Regina, to rebut the weak reasons she gives to "prove" that she isn't racist/anti-Native, etc. What a moron and sociopath--her lack of self awareness is pathetic.
Okay, catty comment: Those tattoo'd lips are getting really ugly. What dimwit thinking caused her to get her lips tattoo'd? As she gets older, her lips seem to get smaller and the tattoo outline around her mouth will soon be a circle outside of her lips.
Lastly, Regina your comment above about the leaning over picture cracked me up! She still has no self awareness, no idea of how others perceive her.
A recent post on Sarah Palin Blog shows the simplistic, "black and white" outlook of Palin & her supporters:
ReplyDeleteCome back, Sarah Palin
Politics can be a boring, frustrating thing, and with all the talk these days of economic stimuli, bankruptcies and international summits, it seems the American people wish things could be a little more cut-and-dry, slightly easier to digest.
A bit … simpler.
Indeed, if only there were some person on the national political scene who could once again make things black and white, then perhaps Americans would feel a bit less unsettled in this confusing time.

Regina, this article really caught my attention, because black and white thinking is common in religions with a high degree of control (aka cults). People raised in this atmosphere see everything as black and white--all decisions are between a definite "right" and "wrong" choice. This would make an interesting post if you're ever looking for a topic.
It helps me understand the outlook of Palin and those who support her.
Thanks.
LisanTX,
ReplyDeleteI'll have a look at the article.
She's a person of extremes. Very frightening most of the time, but highly amusing when in Desperate Housewife mode or giving interviews to gotcha journalists...
Reg
darn, she has on those hooker boots and you're right!
ReplyDeleteLegs crossed at the knees...wow and she is leaning far far over...where is the BABY?
Fair or unfair, it's a given, work harder prove yourself...so hearing her bring that atention to herself...MY EARS HURT....
