Huffington Post And Babygate: The Iron Curtain On Sarah Palin’s Faked Pregnancy Starts To Decay – But The Censors Are Still Busy

The Huffington Post and their approach towards “babygate”, the scandal surrounding Sarah Palin’s faked pregnancy with Trig, is a sad tale.
Ever since Huffington Post blogger Lee Stranahan on September 1, 2008 rejected the faked-pregnancy theory
and declared:

“Sane people need to come to reasonable conclusions”

and added in the comments

“She was pregnant, according to multiple interviews I've done with people in Alaska. They think the speculation is crazy”

...the Huffington Post has taken such a “hard line” on anything related to babygate that it would make a censor outside the “free world” proud. Therefore, it is not hard to believe what Lee Stranahan then wrote in the comments of another of his articles about babygate on October 22, 2008:

“Thanks but I'll tell you that the editors of HuffPost -- including Roy Sekoff and Arianna -- have been nothing but supportive of my writing here.”

As I myself and many of my fellow companions have experienced multiple times during the last 12 months, comments left on Huffington Post about babygate are usually vigorously censored. At times, it was virtually impossible to get any comment through which referred to Sarah’s faked pregnancy, even if it was “moderately worded”.

Then came October 21, 2009 – yesterday. I almost fell off my chair when I read what Glynnis MacNicol, senior editor at www.mediaite.com dared to write in her article (which has been tucked away in the media section of Huffington Post):

Top Ten Outrageous Sarah Palin Stories Oprah Will Have To Address:

"Who's Your Mommy: Palin and the Trig Birthers

2. Calling Andrew Sullivan and the Sarah Palin birthers! Ever since Palin stepped into the national spotlight in August 2008 there has been persistent speculation as to whether she is truly the mother of her youngest son Trig or whether the baby actually belongs her daughter Bristol and Palin's merely claimed to be his parent as some sort of cover-up. Levi hit on the sensitive subject again in his first-person VF piece. It remains to be seen if Palin mentions it in her memoir, but if she's considering another run for public office it's absolutely fair game for Oprah. Below, a typical birther vid.”

Can you believe it! Asking questions about Sarah Palin’s pregnancy is “fair game”! Hallelujah! Does that mean that we are now…allowed to talk on Huffington Post about what is supposedly one of the greatest taboos in US history?

Well…yes. I mean, no. Not so fast! Don’t give the people too much freedom! They might abuse it. A small dose of freedom of speech, that’s what we need. Emphasis on “small”. After all, Sarah Palin “sells”, we don’t want to damage the product too much, do we!

So, yesterday, the struggle began. The struggle to find the right words, so that the comment on Huffington Post doesn’t get rejected. What is it like to live in a dictatorship with limited freedom of speech? Well, you can find out for yourself and get first-hand experience – just try to leave a comment on Huffington Post about Sarah Palin’s faked pregnancy and you can get a glimpse of what the people in communist Eastern Europe had to go through.

REJECTED:

“Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy. She is one of the biggest frauds that there ever was in US political history.”

ALLOWED:

“Sarah's explanation regarding the wild ride is unbelievable. Oprah should question her about it and ask why she undertook such a risky journey.”

REJECTED:

“The parentage of Trig was the first lie told by the Palins on the national stage. And Palin continues to use that baby as a prop for her own political gain; promoting pro-life and special needs children agenda.”

ALLOWED:

“Absolutely ...biggest HOAX pulled in American political history. And main stream media refused to carry the story for some reason.”

REJECTED:

“Can anyone explain to me the reason why Sarah Palin travelled by plane from Texas to Alaska whilst she was in labor and her waters had broken? Why didn't she go to the nearest hospital which is what any normal woman would do in her situation? Is Sarah Palin such a poor decision maker that she is willing to risk her own unborn down syndrome child's life in order for him to be born in Alaska? The above facts are not some nutty story made up by conspiracy theorists. These are the facts that Palin related herself regarding Trig's birth. Also remember that she supposedly knew that he had a heart defect that would require immediate attention when he was born. I think that her story does not hold water (excuse the pun) and that it requires further investigation.”

I could go on. There are many, many more examples of rejected comments.

Any form of censorship makes me literally sick. It makes me feel even more ill when a “liberal” publication censors valid concerns of citizens which are based on a huge pile of “circumstancial” evidence. If a right-winger would censor me, I don’t mind too much, because that’s what I would expect from them. But the Huffington Post? It just breaks my heart that this important progressive publication is basically at the forefront of censoring comments about one of the greatest scandals in US political history.

There is a fascinating twist to the story. Paradoxically, Lee Stranahan once had his own problems with “censorship” in progressive publications. Lee was involved in a huge controversy about the handling of the John Edwards story in the media – he complained that the progressive media was ignoring the story. From the LA Times:

“Stranahan argued that even though the mainstream media had been silent after the National Enquirer broke the story, "the progessive blogosphere is ignoring this story at its own peril because it's going to be big." It was the most popular piece on HuffPo for two days. It also caused Stranahan to be banned from the liberal blog Daily Kos, whose users decided they did not like Stranahan's insistence on discussing unflattering news that originated in the National Enquirer. (…)“I was genuinely surprised that I got banned from Kos,” he said. “I just wrote an editorial. Now I find myself doing hard reporting." Although no other liberal blogs have joined Kos in shunning him, he feels he has a lot at stake in figuring out the details of the Edwards affair that are still cloudy. "Suddenly my reputation is tied in to the outcome of this story," he said.”

When I read this story, I had the impression that someone like Lee Stranahan, who also created some incredibly funny videos featuring Sarah Palin, should be our “natural ally”. But for reasons we will probably never find out, “the left” partially has lost its mind and is so scared of doing any false reporting about Sarah Palin’s pregnancy that they all apart from a few lone voices have collectively closed their eyes, Lee Stranahan included.

Interestingly, the website www.mediaite.com that Glynnis MacNicol is editing is certainly not a liberal website. It clearly appears to be a “conservative” website, although possibly with a “moderate angle”, as far as I could see. In the same way hasn’t, for example, the conservative publicist Peggy Noonan published one of the most devastating articles about Sarah Palin that was ever written?

There are many shades of liberal and conservative, and we cannot agree with each other all the time – but we should all seek the truth together. That’s all I ask for.

The fact is that any blog owner can allow whatever comments they want to. That's not necessarily censorship - it's a party at their house and they can make you go home if they want to.

If someone has something to say, start your own blog!
    It don't cost nothin' neither.

  2. @truth before beauty

Sorry, but if you don't allow comments on a large scale which deal with a specific topic, then this is censorship. Of course you can only censor your "own" blog. The argument I am putting forward here is that no good reason for this behaviour which is being shown by Huffington Post exists. If you invite guests to your house, you don't tell them what to say or to think. If they insult you, you might throw them out. If they discuss an interesting topic with you in a civilized manner, you should be grateful.

  3. It's fair game only if Sarah chooses to run for political office, WTF!!! (So sorry, is that inappropriate language?)

Sarah is going to be selling her book and out there trying to make millions. I think that the truth is in order, whether she runs for office of not. Ask David Letterman about being "outed" when he isn't running for public office.

How about every tabloid story that is picked up by the MSM without any verification! Paris this and Lindsey that. Britney goes bonkers and we give it mainstream attention. Every model and movie star's baby bump is in the MSM, whether or not they are married. And please, oh please save us from any more Kate & Jon crap. All of this MSM and Sarah isn't!! WTF!!

  4. I think the fact that she leaves open the possibility of running for office makes the question fair game for anyone to ask. The longer we have to vet a candidate the better. Let a hundred flowers bloom.

Bush, who fractured the party and the movement that made him. Why wouldn't the media want to keep that going?'-- Peggy Noonan

  11. Fascinating, Patrick, that Stranahan, who apparently was instrumental in burying this story at the HuffPo was so keen in fighting for the Edwards story to see the light of day.

Don't forget what happened at the DailyKos. I spent that whole long weekend after Palin was picked for VP on the DK following as the details of babygate came together and got discussed. It was the most popular thing going that weekend. I firmly believe that if the story had not been shut down on the DK after that weekend it would have had to have been seriously addressed by the MSM. Basically, the MSM just followed DK's lead, along with candidate Obama saying that families were off limits. That is a perfectly legitimate line to observe if all we were talking about were the scurrilous details of an unplanned teenage pregnancy. But this story was about so much more and goes to the very essence of Palin's character.

  16. It's ironic isn't it, that Daily Kos and HuffPo began as renegades (rogues?) challenging MSM, and now are behaving just as badly. I tried posting a Daily Kos diary and was attacked for violating some very arcane rules - nobody cared about the substance of what I was writing about. It was like bullies on a playground - we got here first, you don't know the rules, so we're going to beat up on you!

I cannot explain such petty turf fights amongst liberals, only observe that they (we?) manage to shoot ourselves in the foot, over and over. Which could explain why well-organized oil, coal, and biofuel industries, with their legions of disciplined lobbyists, are the ones who actually run this country - not the voting public.

  17. Could be that Sarah is going to have a come-to-jesus moment on Oprah's show, saying something like, "It doesn't matter if Trig is the son of Elvis and a space alien. He's ours. We love him and we're going to keep him." That would probably be the best thing for her to do, politically. They could then add a Sarah-The-Redeemer story to the rest of the myth.

It was a fairly lighthearted article anyway and I was responding to a comment about gubmint "interference" in healthcare, so I sarcastically suggested medical roles for a few US political figures (Michelle Bachman doing brain surgery, Dick Cheney giving people their shots etc. -- ok, so it wasn't all that funny, but you get the drift).
Still: I couldn't help wondering whether my comment was sunk because it included a reference to a Sarah Palin ante-natal gymnastic programme for tight abs and prolonging labor on long-haul flights...

Of course, she may have hunted/fished at times when Levi wasn't present, but then we do have Greta's interview where she revealed that she had to get the stew's moose meat from her dad. Because she's touted that story, and even during the 2006 campaign claimed that she had a freezer full of game, the people need to be able to explore that story.

  27. I was up most of the night trying to get comments on Glynnis MacNicol’s article on Huffington Post. Just to give you an idea, here is my list of comments. I succeeded in getting 3 out of 10 comments approved. I could not pass up the opportunity to at least try since this is the FIRST article on Huffington Post to discuss babygate. I will have to post this in 2 or 3 posts:

    1. REJECTED:
I want to know if Senator McCain discovered the “Desperate Housewives” lie before or after he picked Palin. I am taking a guess that she did not tell him until after he picked her, based on the mad dash McCain’s campaign staffers had to make to Alaska to mop up what they failed to vet in the first place. They just barely beat the reporters.

    3. REJECTED:
Trig was not “born” on 4-18-08, he was “presented” on 4-18-08 in what Sarah thought was a brilliant cover-up. But her father, Grandpa Heath, blew the carefully staged event by telling the reporter that Sarah’s water broke in Texas. Sarah had already told the reporter that she called her doctor at 4:00 am, and she was unable to quickly think of a good response.

IMO, Trig was born shortly before 1-19-08 when her daughter had a court date on a SATURDAY for a minor speeding ticket she had gotten on 8-6-07. How many other Alaskans get to have their speeding tickets continued for 5 months to be heard on a Saturday for their convenience?

Sarah’s transparency is like trying to see through a brick wall. Those emails were requested as early as September 2008 and they are still “reviewing” them, and Parnell has asked for another extension beyond 11-30-09. What about the emails that were subpoenaed for the Tennessee case of the young man who got into her personal Yahoo email accounts by figuring out her password? She was communicating state business on two personal email accounts so that her deceitful and vindictive means of governing could not be disclosed.
    ************************
    7. REJECTED:
The significance of exposing Palin on the babygate issue is that Palin was placed in a position that potentially could have put her a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States! McCain was 72 and a 4 time cancer survivor. Her pregnancy hoax displays a mentality that does not belong in any public office, let alone anywhere near the White House. Her incredible plan was derived straight from the 2007 episode of Desperate Housewives when Bree Van de Kamp Hodge faked a pregnancy to cover that of her daughter, Danielle. Palin plagiarized that script. Her lies and deceit just on this issue alone clearly shows how she would handle any other issue that she would consider embarrassing. Scrubbing photos from the governor’s website, campaign workers removing photos and other potential incriminating information from the Johnston’s computer, scrubbing entries from Bristol’s and all of her friends’ MySpace pages, the list is far more extensive than the infamous Watergate scandal. The big story is the fundamentalist extremists behind her who hope to turn this nation into a theocrazy.
    ************************************
    8. REJECTED:
Oprah, ask Palin about Rev. Thomas Muthee, the wit.ch hunter who she attributes as helping her become Governor of Alaska. Ask her if she approves of the wit.ch hunting in Africa that k.i.l.l.s and m.a.i.m.s very young children that the pastors have proclaimed as wit.ches.

BreePalin.blogspot.com (best photo comparisons on 10-5-09 post)

    The Immoral Minority (best snark!)

    *****************************************
    10. ALLOWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oprah, I challenge your researchers to find one site that proves Sarah is the biological mother of Trig…
    None

Sarah’s only “proof” are her statements, like this one from Esquire:

Yes, there are “problems in the world of journalism”! OMG, I actually agree with one thing that Sarah Palin said!! But not for the same reason. 45. Patrick, excellent post! I love it!

Perhaps Lee Stranahan knocked on Levi’s door and “a family friend” answered and assured Stranahan that Sarah gave birth to Trig. That would be Anna Arodzero, the McCain campaign worker, who misrepresented herself as a family friend to reporters, i.e. LIED.
Or perhaps Stranahan talked to Angelina Burney:
“All of a sudden she had this penchant for really beautiful scarves,” recalled Angelina Burney, who works across the hallway from the governor in Anchorage.” But if you google Burney, well, let’s just say she seems to have similar religious beliefs as Sarah, and a big fan of Sarah Palin according to her Facebook.

Just who are the multiple people Stranahan interviewed that convinced him Sarah had been pregnant with Trig? Papa Heath? Meg Stapletongue? Ivy Frye? Kristan Cole? Inquiring minds want to know! Apparently Stranahan’s investigative journalism abilities suck. I have no idea what is Stranahan’s age, is he some old white guy who was also mesmerized by Sarah Palin’s wink?

So, is Huffington Post’s babygate comment policy derived solely from this one slacker of a "journalist”?

  48. I agree with anon 01:44. Sarah can turn any babygate question in anon's sentimental response and avoid a direct answer. I think that she can turn many questions into statements to her advantage-- she is a good politician in that way.

I think that the best way to show Sarah's limits in Peggy Noonan's shallow pool is with the totally unexpected question, one that wasn't rehearsed ahead of time. Think of Katy Couric's innocent "What do you read to inform your world view..." which still gets laughs.

For example, if anyone is the relative of a DS child, or administers therapy to Down Syndrome children, that would be the perfect authority to request a seat at the Sarah Palin interview. (There is a place at the Oprah website to offer your expertise, and that would be one subject that Sarah clearly hasn't spent any time studying).

Oprah has given millions to charity, so if would be fair of her to care what kind of contribution Sarah has made in the interest of Down Syndrome charities. Sarah should be asked exactly what kind of therapy Trig is being given and how she and Todd participate in that therapy as the loving, caring parents. I don't think that Sarah can answer that question-- even given this advance notice.

I would hope that Oprah, who supported Obama's candidacy would be concerned about the increased threats to him that were elevated during the campaign and continue today.

Oprah and Sarah do share something in common; they both wept on the night that Barack Obama was elected. Sarah wanted to deliver a speech when McCain conceded the election. Oprah was in the middle of Grant Park, leaning on the shoulder of a nice man in front of her- who she did not know- and she was overcome to tears at the thought of someone of her race reaching that milestone. Oprah should discuss that moment with Sarah.

I wish that it was important to post comments at HuffPo or Sea of Pee, but I think that the right place for comments right now are the Oprah website. Using polite language, clear outlines of facts, I think that Oprah's staff should be educated to the massive number of issues that follow Sarah and have not been resolved, from Troopergate, the fact that she still has not turned over emails with Todd copied on government correspondence, and so forth.

An interesting mental game to play is the try to pick out the most important "gate" to lead off the list, second most important and so on. When I say "important" I don't mean to us, I mean important in the sense that it would be likely to become a topic or question in the interview. We should educate the Oprah staff, but with issues to which Sarah has no good answer.

    Great work PCG.
"Purdum's Vanity Fair article also failed to note all of the pictures, emails and MySpace material that were scrubbed as soon as the Republican goon squad arrived in Alaska when Palin was announced as VP candidate. This also goes to show McCain had not thoroughly vetted Palin until after the fact.
A “friend of the family” who answered the door at Levi Johnston’s house was none other than Anna Arodzero, a McCain campaign worker, as associate of Gallatin Public Affairs.
The computer at the Johnston house was scrubbed of all pictures, etc.

I now believe Barrack Obama & I share a common father (On the white side), former East German STASI General Markus Wolf, of who it can now be told was turned and counter-run by the CIA as early as 1977. The enemy's true agenda has been preempted, issue by issue, by the Bushes since they first started to "Steward" the Presidency in 1982.
I know, I was used to lure Wolf to the West in '77.
Now you know why & how so much of Obama's birth was fabricated yet protected so heavily from true exposure.
There is also another half-brother and sister from this man who bio-engineered our lives from the birth as espionage operatives, "Manchurian Candidates."

Toodle over to TeamSarah.org or Conservatives4palin.....you're needed there. It is comical to us here. I think you must obviously be a blind man who has seen none of the photos...you know the ones where Palin appears to be wearing a flat square flotation device..you know...the kind you wear while skiing? And what about the Elan Frank video where she literally beats hard on her "tummy"? No real mother treats her unborn child like that!!!! Real mothers caress or stroke the unborn. She slapped on it like a bag of flour. Yup, if you were a seeing man, you would be in agreement with us here. This hoax is real Jesse. You are perpetuating it. We don't care, you're quite a funny little man. No worries..this team will not give up and unbeknowst to you, the behind the scenes team has gotten quite large and things are being found every day.

But if he was hell bent on the Edwards story but silences the Palin hoax, I would tend to think he is a Palinbot. I still want to know who are the "multiple" Alaskans he interviewed. And was that by phone or in person? Maybe he used the Assembly of God church registry to contact interviewees? In all fairness, no one knew very much in September 2008, but he had obviously heard the rumors if he was asking people about it.

I have found Huffington Post incredibly fascistic as well. I tried to leave comments regarding the 9-11 events and coverups, all according to the site's guidelines, but was not allowed numerous times. Ms. Huffington has said 9-11 truth comments are out of bounds on her website. I thought we lived in a "free" society! I guess Ms. Huffington and her minions have not gotten that message, and want to control the free flow of information according to their biases.

  60. I found this on www.crooksandliars.com for Sept.14 2008 Blog by John Amato. Concerns Eddie Burke of KBYR and also Bob Lester who recently commented here. Not sure if was quoted as extensively on here or PD.
Title of blog is "Alaska Right Wing talk show host exposes names of Alaska women that rallied against Palin:called them maggots."

"KTUU TV: Opponents of Gov. Sarah Palin's policies are being threatened. Alaska Women Reject Palin, a local group that opposes the Republican vice presidential candidate, on Wednesday announced plans to host an anti-Palin rally this weekend.Since that announcement organizers say they've received intimidating messages.
KBYR talk radio host Eddie Burke admits he is a conservative and a "Palinista."But on Wednesday Burke resorted to name calling when he found out Alaska Women Reject Palin planned to host a Saturday rally.
"They're a bunch of socialist maggots, that's what I'm going to call them -- socialist maggots, that's what they are, a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots," said Burke.
I think it's appropriate to go after Gov Palin's policies ,but respect her. Burke is out of his mind.

And Alaska is not happy with Palin's appearance on Burke's show.
The governor's appearance on KWHL's "The Bob and Mark Show" last week is plain and simple one of the most unprofessional, childish and inexcusable performances I've ever seen from a politician. Anchorage DJ Bob Lester unleashed a vicious, mean-spirited, poisonous attack on Senate President Lyda Green last week while our governor was live on the air with him.
When we played the tape on my show the day after it happened, we received 130 calls. Even some Palinbots were disgusted.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner editorial writers demanded the governor apologize. The Juneau and Ketchikan papers also ran the editorial.

The Daily News opinion page addressed the governor's gaffe. They wrote "She came off looking immature herself, almost high-schoolish. It was conduct unbecoming a governor."
It was conduct unbecoming a human being, never mind a governor.
The governor's office eventually tried to spin the public relations disaster, releasing a statement reading, "Governor Palin was caught off guard by Bob Lester's reference to Senate President Lyda Green."

I don't buy it. Early on in the conversation before Palin started to crack up, Lester referred to Sen. Green as a jealous woman and a cancer. Palin, who knows full well Lyda Green is a cancer survivor, didn't do what any decent person would do, say, "Bob, that's going too far."
But as the conversation moved on, Lester intensified his attack on Green."

With all this outing and threatening of bloggers by the right wingers and shouting down others at Town Halls and those not in Palin's camp, I would like to say that the true patriots and lovers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights seem to be those who can tolerate free speech in blogs such as these Trig Truther blogs-folks who honor truth and the first amendment over political outcome and enjoy a robust discussion.

  67. I was banned several months ago on HuffPo -- and somehow, I lived.

Arianna took the media bows for HuffPo's coverage of the Iranian election and uprising -- somehow, the fact that Nico Pitney was the man on the telegraph for days without rest got lost... to everyone except -- of course -- Rachel Maddow.

If you miss reading the site on Friday afternoon, look in on Sunday night -- the same headlines will be frozen in place. My parents had fresh news delivered on weekends, and the Sunday paper kept the entire family squabbling for hours.

So why won't Huffington, who gets most of her content for free -- and otherwise in exchange for the 'cachet' of publication on a major site -- shell out for a few decent journalists? Where is all that advertiser money going? And Arianna, babe, you are looking VERY good; is that Versace?

I got tired of b-list actors trying out their high school writing chops on serious subjects. Of the Xian conservatives published to generate heat, and only rabid dissent left as commentary -- the reasonable comments deleted. I definitely got tired of clicking through misleading headlines and opinion pieces disguised as news, which was HuffPo's version of 'liberal'.

The site is a money-generator, for someone who views us in much the same way as any banker or bishop. As sheep to be sheared.

Oprah, ask Sarah about the 10-5-07 tour with Bristol to the HUB Juneau Christian Teen Center. Do the Google research yourself - this place has connections with Cathy Baldwin-Johnson. This place also has serious connections with some very fanatical religious associations, you know, those Seven Mountains and spiritual warriors types. Curiously, HUB Juneau Christian Teen Center received a $25,000 donation with taxpayers’ money through the generosity of then Governor Sarah. Were personal benefits provided for this donation?? You know how Sarah hates to spend her own money. But I would rather the IRS ask her about that “donation”. That should have come out of her own pocket, not the Alaskan taxpayers.

It's not a bad thing to have a person like Griffin appear on this type of program. He doesn't have a platform to himself and had to face difficult questions, making it very clear that his party stands for racism, homophobia and general cultural intolerance.

The protests guaranteed high viewing rates, so a lot of people could watch Griffin make a fool of himself.

Moderation of comments on a news site, when carried to an extreme, is dishonest. I can see removing offensive remarks. But the comments should be a reflection of the reactions of the people who read the article. If the moderators are cherry picking comments and skewing them one way or another, the result is a farce and not worth bothering with.

"The false mean. This is sometimes called the fallacy of
compromise. Now, there are times when compromise is necessary.
But it is not always a desirable solution. Sometimes an
extreme position is warranted. A doctor tells a patient who is
now smoking two packs of cigarettes a day that he should stop
smoking completely. “I’ll tell you what, doctor,” remarks the
patient. “I’ll cut down to a half a pack a day.” The patient’s
proposed compromise may help, but the doctor’s original suggestion
is better. One school administrator feels that all students
should be required to take mathematics; another feels that no
students should be required to take math. A compromise that
only half the students be required to take math or that all students
be required to take math for only two instead of four years
is unacceptable if, in fact, there is something intrinsically important
about a four-year math program. A desirable solution does
not always lie in compromise." Especially when it comes to Health Care.
Sorry for the OT comment, but couldn't resist after reading that. :-)

  109. What's going on? Why are politicians so scared to answer questions these days...?

This story should be satire or a tale from a banana republic, but it's apparently true:

"Now this is something that doesn't happen every day. The campaign of Dede Scozzafava, the moderate Republican candidate who is in a three-way race with a Democrat and a Conservative Party candidate in the NY-23 special election, called the police on a Weekly Standard reporter for asking her too many questions.

The Standard's John McCormack reported that he asked Scozzafava repeated questions about her support for the Employee Free Choice Act, her positions on health care, taxes and abortion. After a staffer got in between him and the candidate, he followed her to the parking lot and kept trying to ask questions.

    Then things got interesting:

After she got into her car, I went to my car and fired up my laptop to report the evening's events.

Minutes later a police car drove into the parking lot with its lights flashing. Officer Grolman informed me that she was called because "there was a little bit of an uncomfortable situation" and then took down my name, date of birth, and address.

"Maybe we do things a little differently here, but you know, persistence in that area, you scared the candidate a little bit," Officer Grolman told me."

Scozzafava is running as a candidate in a special election. She should be prepared to answer questions asked of her by reporters. She shouldn't forget that she wants to be a representative of the people and as such we want answers to those questions so we understand what it is she stands for.

I know that this post will never see the light of day but like the person that said that this was bogus, I also spoke to people in Alaska and they unanimously said that Gov.Palin was pregnant (even coming from some that do not feel favorably towards her). If anyone saw the picture of her in April where she is swollen up to her face, they would realize that she was pregnant. Now, on another note, does anyone think that a pregnant teenager who JUST gave birth to a child and realized that it was not a good thing at that time of her life, would get pregnant again two weeks before she gave birth? Other than it being a biological impossibility, but we all know that common sense is what is lacking in some people. Now, we all know that this post will never be posted because God forbid, that normal reasoning should have a forum.

You can get pregnant while pregnant. Although rare, it can happen. It is called: SUPERFETATION. So it is not "biologically impossible" as you claim.

While you may feel that this story is a lie, others do not. There are those who live in Alaska who have stated that they do not believe she was pregnant, so there are two sides to this when it comes to who says what.

Perhaps you are unused to posting at places where a different viewpoint is allowed. That is not the case here, and as long as you are respectful, Regina allows all viewpoints for open communication and discussion. It's a nice change isn't it?

  119. @20:45 - we have covered all of that before. There are plenty of people who said she did NOT look pregnant in AK as well, including lots of Republicans. Check out the April 8, 2008, photo below, 10 days before she "gave birth" at age 44 after traveling thousands and thousands of miles by air in her last trimester:

    http://palingates.blogspot.com/2009/10/sarah-palins-ifs-and-buts.html

I live in Alaska and I can tell you for a FACT that SP was not pregnant. I don't know who you've been talking to (I seriously DOUBT they are Alaskans) but they are flat wrong.

There's a reason why she won't release EITHER birth certificate and that's because the dates would not match up to what she claims. Palin did look pregnant in the April photo you mention.

Please take the time help us understand this photo. It was taken March 26, 2008. I'm not saying there isn't a reasonable explanation of how she was so trim at the end of March and in 3-4 weeks she was so large.

  150. Keep in mind that the Trooper plane used to transport the Queen around the state isn't pressurized either. HAPE occurs to professional climbers on Denali (Mt. Mckinley for those outside AK) on a regular basis. The Troopers puddle jumping plane would fly at similar altitudes

    ReplyDelete
  151. Thanks Barb and Patrick for mentioning the risk of HAPE.
I have been meaning to mention that, and remember that HAPE is just one possible result of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) aka "hole in the heart", that can result from a birth at high altitude, PARTICULARLY in a premature infant and at the VERY high altitude of a commercial flight.

Even though the cabin is pressurized, the actual oxygen content of the air is lower than normal, enough lower that it could make an inflight delivery of a premature infant even MORE dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Forget to mention in the comment above that the low oxygen levels flying at altitude contribute to making it really hard for the PDA to close. This can be a very vicious cycle of not enough oxygen AND the PDA causing improper circulation with not enough oxygen to major organs.

It isn't high level vocabulary and it certainly is NOT testimony.

The thing that irks me is his comment about how we are trying to ruin her life. Duh sorry but no. Ruin her political life? You betcha! She is a pathologic liar who hurt many citizens in Alaska and she is not fit to be in local or national politics. So willing to ban those with whom you disagree. You would make a wonderful dictator. But I digress. The burden of proof is on you. Sarah Palin has more than demostrated that she is the mother Trig. Now its up to you to prove otherwise.

  168. """Jesses response to my questions prove he is full of it and is a waste of time to have a discussion with. If he's paid, he is an ass. If he believes in Sarah, then I really feel sorry for him in a way. Either way, he adds nothing in favor of Sarah being the birth mother-he keeps repeating we have a letter from the doctor. Really? Do we? Anyone who works in the medical profession knows Sarahs story is nonsense and the letter is not believable. Sarah might have written it.

She quit her job, giving up 1/2 way through and she is polarizing and harmful to our country. If another politician lied like her, I would do the same thing.
If she hadn't used Trig for political purposes, then it would be none of our business. But that is obviously not the case.

It's kind of funny the way he responded to my 3 questions, just as I thought , he didn't. It would be so easy for Sarah to prove She gave birth to Trig and she doesn't. There is too much wrong with the whole story. Some are mad they gave money to Sarah because of her supposed choice to have Trig despite his diagnosis. Now they feel lied to and cheated and I don't blame them!"""

WOW! Could those pro-Palin supporters have been more wrong???

It is so great to have a year's perspective and see how wrong they were with all their predictions.

  171. Just for old times' sake, I looked up this gem from the end of July: "Last state twitter. Thank you Alaska! I love you. God bless Alaska. God bless the U.S.A."

I cannot wait for Levi to tell us why Sarah Palin quit. It's still an unsolved mystery.

Actually that's a very small sample of the whoppers she has told. Just since she came off the VP campaign trail while still in office the list would go into the hundreds of bald faced lies. She's obviously pathological. Our legislature even came out and said she "flat out lied"

What went on the last few months with her was an absolute embarassment to everyone in Alaska. The appointment of a democratic senator to replace the vacant seat, she turned into a giant circus. These things don't make national news, but up here everyone just scratches their head and wonders how anyone could possibly be so stupid and so incompetent.

Unfortunately our journalists are just as inept (see gryphens blog) and she has used that to her advantage. I was told by a reporter from Time magazine once that Alaska is where struggling journalists come to try and learn the business. Of course Miss Degree in journalism couldn't even cut it as a sports reporter up here. Just another job she QUIT.

She's pathetic and a total fraud. Soon everyone will realize that. There's really nothing more despicable than a liar for Jesus and she's become the poster child for that

  175. Unless you have definite, unequivocal proof, you are only being a "birther". Yes, I do believe that Obama was born in the USA, and at least Sarah has been vetted more than tnan any politician right now. I believe that she gave birth to Trig, if not only because she had the "pregnant face". Regina, you must remember that face, when it is so swollen that you look at yourself in the mirror and wonder if it will ever become normal again. Since you have shown us pictures of your child, I think that you must remember that time, My MIL gave birth to my husband and no one knew she was pregnant and he weighed over nine pounds when he was born. My Mom was pregand with me and her doctor was leaving the country for vacation and I was "taken out" early because she was confortable with her obstetrician and even though my birth was "high risk" she wanted her doctor. I was supposed to be a child of "Pro-Choice" and my mom chose LIFE. I guess that it worked out for her because or all of her children, I am the one that takes care of her.

  176. Liew Siaw Hsia Gives Birth On Board Plane Over Malaysia, Will Get Free Flights For Life

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A Malaysian woman who gave premature birth to a boy on board an airplane minutes before it landed will get free flights for life along with her child, an airline official said Friday.

Liew Siaw Hsia, 31, gave birth on budget carrier AirAsia's flight from Penang to Kuching on Wednesday.

AirAsia spokesman Nazatul Mokhtar said Friday that the flight was diverted to nearby Kuala Lumpur for an emergency landing when Liew started labor pains. He says Liew was 27 weeks pregnant, 11 weeks short of the full term.

A doctor on the flight helped the woman deliver while the plane was still 2,000 feet (600 meters) in the air in its final approach to land.

Mother and son were rushed to a nearby hospital after the plane landed, an airline statement said. Their condition late Friday was unknown, though Nazatul said earlier that they were both in good shape.

Nazatul says both Liew and her son will get lifetime of free flights.

  178. It is obvious that Mr. Jesse Cornish feeds off of people telling him he is a stupid jerk. If we don't argue with him, at some point he will realize that his time spent here is a total waste. We are all 100% believers in the HOAX that is Palin. Your rants and raves will not convince us. Most of us have been here for over a year and nothing will sway us. So.....for now, I say we all just ignore Mr. Jesse. We have better things to do like take aerial photos of Chateau Palin and investigating the faked doctor letter. Focus Team, focus! We don't need to waste our valuable time arguing with Whackadoodle Cornish. Hey Jesse...have a great day, OK? Sherlock......You betcha!

  181. Patrick:

Have you tried communicating directly with the author of the article, Glynnis MacNicol? She seems to have a more-than-passing familiarity with babygate. This comes through more in her posting about Levi's VF article:

    http://www.mediaite.com/online/sarah-palin-wanted-to-secretly-adopt-her-grandchild-and-other-levi-johnston-revelations/

It's hard to tell from GM's unserious (breezy, Gawker-like) writing style whether she believes in the hoax or not. It would nevertheless be interesting to get her reaction to the key facts (some of which she might not be aware of).

BTW, I would disagree with your characterization of mediaite as conservative. A better description might be "corporatist" (which could tilt left or right, depending on who's paying). It was founded by Dan Abrams, former general manager of MSNBC, who you may recall had his own show in the time slot now occupied by Rachel Maddow (KO famously feuded with Abrams, and got him booted). Abrams is not a progressive like KO or RM, but he's no conservative, either.

I don't know much about MacNicol, other than she used to be at Mediabistro. She does twitter, though:

I sent an email to mediaite, addressed to Glynnis MacNicol, and I hope that she has received it. She has not responded yet.

Thanks for your info about mediaite. You might be right, "corporatist" might be the correct description, but in any case, it's not a liberal website from what I have seen.

It still remains to see when the first journalist in the MSM starts to touch the pregnancy issue in a serious way. I have read two books by Jack Anderson recently, "Confessions of a Muckraker" and "Peace, War and Politics", and he would have eaten Sarah Palin for breakfast. Sadly, he is not amongst us any more.

  183. Bottom line re. why I don't give much attention to Jesse Cornball is that he constantly gives as 'proof' that SP birthed Trig-- the 'testimony' of CBJ. How many tomes have you heard him reference the "doctor's letter" or "doctor's testimony"?

What he is trying to do is an SP classic -- say something so often that eventually people believe it.

But when you consider the FACTS of CBJ's 'testimony'?

Fact: She was asked to simply confirm that she simply wrote the eleventh hour 'medical records' letter. She said she "could not comment".

Why on earth not? SP supposedly ASKED this physician to speak regarding her medical records. Yet CBJ wouldn't offer a simple "yes, I wrote the letter at the request of Mrs Palin". Saying "I can't comment" when asked an extremely simple, direct, yes or no question...shows that SOMETHING is afoot, certainly.

But the kicker regarding CBJ's "testimony"? (Jesse continually calls it testimony even though it was neither court-related nor on the record) is this--
FACT: when ADN editor Pat D asked her point blank (AFTER palin auth'd CBJ to speak regarding her medical history) "can you confirm that Sarah Palin delivered Trig Palin?"
and CBJ didn't even try to "no comment" her way out of this one -- she, with an ATTORNEY present (why?) said an unequivocal "I cannot confirm that."

Jesse and anyone else who thinks there is nothing going on here...wake up and smell the moose chili.

Supposed delivering doctor, authorized to speak on Palin's medical history and the birth if Trig...said she "could not confirm" that Palin delivered Trig.

She did not say that she WOULD not confirm it. She said she COULD not confirm it. Read between the lines there, right? If she witnessed the birth and for whatever reason didn't want to comment...she might say she will not/would not confirm palin's story of Trig's birth.

If she didn't witness the birth and thusly had no clue as to the real birth circumstances OR knew them to be patently false as told by Sarah Palin...she would (and did) say that she COULD NOT confirm Palin's account of Trig's birth.

If SP is telling the truth, why would CBJ say those things? Answer-- she would NOT say those things without good cause.

And why would Palin refuse to provide either child's birth certificate when that would settle this issue once and for all? It's documented beyond any doubt that she adores showing up her naysayers. Yet she refuses to provide this simple documentation. If you think she's refusing to invalidate these rumours for 'funsies'...well, it's no wonder her followers have such a reputation for having the "flamingo mentality".
