Sarah Palin and yet another ethics violation
Our friend Linda Kellen Biegel, aka Celtic Diva, has filed an ethics complaint against Sarah Palin.
That makes it 11 ethics complaints filed against her. She may argue that people are out to destroy her, blah blah, but these things wouldn't happen if she didn't use her position as governor for personal gain, would they?
Since coming into office, in December 2006, Sarah Palin has muddled the lines between what's ethic and what isn't.
Troopergate, family expenses, per diems, secret e-mails, Pebble Mine/Clean Water Act (Ballot Measure 4), mixing state and religion, the list is endless...
Sarah Palin had the same style when she was mayor of Wasilla, placing herself above all rules and regulations. "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't."
As governor she has even more power, but since accepting the candidacy for vice president she has come under closer scrutiny. Her many failings and shortcomings became more public, people started asking more questions.
With power come responsibility and accountability, two concepts that appear to be totally alien to Sarah Palin.
She had the chance to govern responsibly, she was popular and could have done many good things for Alaska. She campaigned on a platform of transparency and accountability but failed miserably to live up to either of these promises.
Sarah Palin cannot blame the people of Alaska for doing precisely what she advocated during her campaign for governor. They are calling her bluff.
And she won't be able to complain when the rest of the country place her administration under a microscope if she decides to run for the presidency in 2012 either.
A lot of people may not like her as a person, but that's incidental to the plot. Nobody would raise public concerns if she wasn't the governor of Alaska.
Nobody is challenging her as a person, people are challenging her record. If she chooses to take it personally, that's her problem.

This is incriminating, but will it be the final straw that will finally get a serious recall started by Alaskans? I don't know...I think alot of her previous gates are worse....
FW,
It adds to the growing pile of ethics complaints and eats into her legal fund before it gets started!
I'm trying to get some national attention to Religiongate, as it has constitutional implications...
I'll dig and dig, present the facts and comment on them, but I can't take direct action because I'm not from Alaska or the US.
C'est la vie...

As I wrote in another blog commentary area, this woman has more wardrobe criminal activity than any other politician in history. Perhaps her "pageant-walking" really WILL be the end of her.
Please do stay on "Religiongate," Regina. It is a very important topic.
Regina...agreed. I think the citizens of Alaska have more than enough to start a recall petition, but the demographics and geography of the state itself may be a prohibitive factor. I don't know...it seems odd that a state that has half of the population of the county I live in here in Virginia can have so many corrupt politicans in it.
FW,
Alaska has so many corrupt politicians because of big oil and the remoteness of the state.
SP has only herself to blame if the spotlight is now turned on her state and her administration. She decided to run for vice president with too many skeletons in her cupboard...
Now she thinks she can run for president without any questions asked!
Regina and Alaskans.......keep your eyes and hears on this person......I don't think he's good guy.

The London mining giant providing most of the financial backing for the Pebble copper and gold prospect is bringing one of its most powerful people to Alaska this weekend.
Mark Moody-Stuart, the chairman of Anglo American's board, plans to travel to Southwest Alaska and Anchorage on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Pebble Partnership.
google Columbia coal mines......you'll find a bunch of real crappy stuff that Anglo American is involved in.
Another fine post, Regina! One wonders when you sleep...
As you said, some of the "gates" are bigger than others (Religiongate, for example) and have more important implications in terms of governing-- but I think that it's the whole pattern of abuse. It's sort of like a murder trial where there is no direct evidence, but all of the circumstantial evidence keeps building up, painting a very clear picture of wrongdoing. You are doing a wonderful job, Regina, by focusing on all of the wrongdoing of Sarah-Palin-as-Governor, not as an individual. When one accepts such a high office, there is a kind of "public trust" that goes with it, to avoid even the appearance of wrongdoing. But Sarah can't distinguish between what looks wrong and what might benefit her.
I think religiongate is the worst I have read and I hope one of you files a complaint about it! Also can something more be done than filing ethics complaints?? Why not get the Feds involved? Send them reports or whatever!
I'll confess I got interested in Sarah Palin's background as governor of Alaska when she was named McCain's VP candidate, and the announcement of Bristol's pregnancy followed as Palin's/the RNC's version of "proof" that Bristol couldn't have been Trig's birth mother to counter year-long rumors to that effect.
"Babygate" is a relatively minor question in the background these days, it seems, compared to some of these ethics violations being charged against Sarah Palin.
She won't be able to whine about nasty attacks on innocent children, will she? These complaints are on on HER.
million$peach,
Thanks for the tip!

Anon: You can do it! Send your info to the FEDs aka FBI or CREW in Wahington. Sent links to them briefly describe. Its their job to investigate, you are just putting a bug in their ear! ;-)
Great post-- One slight mistake..
I for one am personally attacking her morals, ethics and lack of accountability LOL
To claim that you are ethical and for family values- yet display none- absolutely gets to me!
If she didn't pretend to be something she's not- I wouldn't care as much.
Claiming you are for ethics, accountability and family values- does mean that you should be held to that. You know better- so you are suppose to do better. She has yet to even acknowledge wrongfully charging for the kids flights- even though she's paying back the funds. Something so simple- yet she refuses.
Blame everyone else and do for yourself seems to be her true platform.
Please folks, get lives, a job and some personal meaning to your live's. Sarah Palin still has higher support from her state than any of your own elected officials. Best to look at your own backyard before throwing rocks at the neighbors
One thing that actually might her is not one of those 'gates', but her hunting record. I can't believe the response I get from people on the street when I try telling them about BushCountry in AK and how the people suffer and that GINO will not help them. What people (at least here) seem to be way more upset about is the fact that she encourages hunting wolves and caribou out of helicopters and airplanes. *THAT* is what they are riled up about, and THAT is what they will work to stop her for (I Swear I did not study journalism with her, but my language is mangled like hers right now -AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!)
doug...your own life needs a good examination if you feel Palin is a good governor. Sorry...thats just how I feel.

Hi Doug, you need to understand that Sarah Palin very clearly has national political aspirations.
Many of us, after extensive and exhaustive research, are of the opinion that she belongs nowhere near the US Capitol, much less in any high elected office. There are a multitude of reasons for this.
In the scale of things, pimping for a snowmobile company may look like small potatoes, but this is her 11th ethics complaint (not counting the official AK Legislative Council's investigation into Troopergate). You don't get a wide variety of people lodging 11 ethics complaints in barely over 2 years in office unless you don't understand what the heck you are doing wrong.
Sarah needs edumacashun, big time. Not only about the wider world, but about what is expected and required of you when you are a public servant.
If I were you, I'd do my best to let Sarah know she has to smarten up. Otherwise, she ain't goin' nowhere...
Can we PUH-LEEZ get Sarah into an Ethics Class? She doesn't understand the concept! Palin is having an Ethics Emergency!
Sarah's reaction to this latest ethics complaint and posting it on the State of Alaska website shows absolutely no class whatsoever. She is basically inciting her witless followers to violence. It seems tantamount to shouting fire in a crowded theater. Somebody could possibly be hurt from her rantings. I certainly hope not.
OT - I finally got a WV that's pertinant. It's "toolow." That would be her.
The majority of the so called ethics violation claims against Palin have been brought by one individual who obviously has an axe to grind. So far most of the alegations have been dismissed with only two outcomes still pending.
Just saw a picture of "Celtic Diva". No wonder she hatws Palin. She's a cow & Sarah's a babe!
