Sarah Palin could win first prize in a talent show

Sarah Palin decorated a bus to embark on a tour, but doesn't want to disrupt people's vacations. She's playing hide-and-seek with the media, which guarantees maximum coverage, as nobody knows where the circus is going to turn up next. The stupid media fell for it and are all scrambling from one place to another, asking her idiotic questions about her record and her prospects. The media should have done some homework about her record and ask some decent questions instead of letting her frame the narrative.

Yesterday she told reporters that she quit as governor because of all the frivolous ethics complaints:



In 2009 she told Bill O'Reilly something completely different.



The media lets Sarah Palin get away with changing her stories time and time again, as long as they get some face time with her. She stated that a possible campaign will be unconventional and has made it very clear that she won't have a proper interview with a proper journalist. Whether she talks to the media or not, she sells copy, she generates hits and keeps the media bosses happy and their bank accounts healthy.



It's seems easy to dismiss Sarah Palin, she looks ridiculous and talks gibberish, but there's a serious side to all this.

We're all too familiar with Sarah Palin's real story on this blog and can't take her seriously as a candidate for anything. But the US is a big country, there are too many low information people out there who are entitled to vote. There are still too many racist people who can't stomach the idea of having a black president. There are the dreaded Diebold machines and corrupt politicians who will manipulate elections. George W Bush was elected twice... The majority of the media don't take their job seriously anymore and treat a profoundly ignorant celebrity as a serious politician. Sarah Palin as a candidate is a real possibility.

The political discourse in the US has deteriorated quite considerably in the past two years and the deciding factors for who gets chosen to run and who will ultimately win has become a third rate talent show, just the kind of competition the likes of Sarah Palin could win. She created an attractive act, where politics is reduced to slogans and her colourful personality shines through. What people see are her clothes, her hair, her hunting, fishing, climbing and biker stunts, her "Real American" persona, her family, the regular mother and housewife with a fire in her belly. Her opponent is boring in comparison. He's serious and talks in complete sentences, uses too many long words, dresses and behaves appropriately.

The possibility that the election of the president of the most powerful and influential country in the world could be decided in an inane talent show frightens and disgusts me.

The Republican National Committee today made the fans of Sarah Palin happy. AP reports:

WASHINGTON – Fundraising powerhouse Sarah Palin is helping the Republican National Committee raise money.

In a solicitation letter and survey the RNC is sending to people across the country, she says she's working within the nation's two-party system to, in her words, return the country to greatness.

The 2008 vice presidential GOP nominee and former Alaska governor has spent the past two years castigating both Democrats and Republicans, taking a more independent tone. But she now is calling the RNC the political home for commonsense conservatives.

And Palin says there's no question that President Barack Obama's policies and those of the Democratic-controlled Congress are hurting the country.

Isn't that sweet? Sarah Palin, the fundraising powerhouse for the RNC! The fraudster from Wasilla is apparently the new (mad) cash cow for the Republicans. Which says a lot about the state of the Republican Party.

I would say, full steam ahead, RNC! With so many skeletons in her closet, combined with her severe mental challenges, Sarah Palin will be able to single-handedly destroy the Republican Party. That will be a riot. ;-)

So it seems that the RNC now fully embraces Sarah Palin and the "values" she stands for. Good luck with that!

It should also be mentioned that other GOP leaders have used quite radical rhetoric since Obama became President, but they seem to "fly under the radar", as most of the attention is focused on Sarah Palin and her frequent hateful rants.

One example is Newt Gingrich who these days propagates a radical agenda with a strong religious flavor. He thinks that judges who want to upheld the separation of church and state should be impeached or the respective courts should even be abolished (watch the his major speech from December 2009), the Democrats are imposing a "secular-socialist machine" on the country and are a "mortal threat", Obama is starting a dictatorship etc.

So it's not just Sarah Palin who is busy spreading hate and division. Other prominent figures of the GOP like Newt Gingrich have a very similar agenda - but they don't receive the big headlines like "mad cash cow" Sarah.

Celebrity Sarah Palin went camping with celebrity Kate Gosselin - and apparently it didn't go too well:

But anything less than a 4-star hotel is clearly not good enough for her. We just have one question: Why did Kate agree to go camping with Sarah Palin if she is so totally scared of camping?

Kate Gosselin was headed out on a camping trip with her kids, Sarah Palin, and Sarah's dad and brother. The trip was to be filmed for Kate's reality show and now we know it will bring plenty of drama. According to sources, Kate wasn't happy with anything on the trip and they ended up having to put her in a cabin with electricity and a bathroom just so she would shut up!

According to the Enquirer, "They handed her a bucket with a toilet seat on top... Kate said, ‘What the hell am I going to do with this!'Then she burst into tears and started moaning that she wanted to leave... When it was time to eat, Kate opened the cooler prepared for her and the children and three another fit when she saw prepackaged mini meals... She said ‘My kids can't eat this crap, they need a real meal! Then she started griping - in front of Sarah - that the ex-governor's food was better than hers. Sarah's meal was grilled hamburgers and hotdogs!"

Well, that's what can happen if "TV-personalities" aka "celebrities" meet! ;-)

Speaking about celebrities:

The rap-star Wyclef Jean ("Fugees") confirmed that he will run for Haiti president. Maybe he can give Sarah Palin advice for her highly anticipated run for US president in 2012! From celebrity to celebrity. I think that would be very appropriate.

Sarah Palin's generosity

Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Brad Bitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1,000,000 each in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Madonna gave $250,000, Giselle Bündchen gave $1,500,000 and many other celebrities made their time and talent available in the Hope for Haiti telethon.

President Obama donated the whole of his $1,400,000 Nobel Prize money to ten different charities.

According to SarahPac's report, Sarah Palin made donations of $1,000 to Heart Reach Pregnancy Center and to the National Association for Down Syndrome at the last possible moment, on the day they closed the books for the year. Almost an afterthought...



Sarah may have texted $10 to the Red Cross just as she invited her Facebook fans to do, we don't know, let's say that she did.

Sarah Palin also made a public donation of $1,700 to the Red Cross when she and her entourage descended on a Silver Spoon event and helped themselves to various luxurious gifts.

$3,710 in total given to charity. Very good. But then we have to consider that $2,000 of this total came not from her deep pockets, but from SarahPac donors.

These were public donations. I can't state for a fact that Sarah Palin is not hugely generous in a very private way. Celebrities publicize their charity donations to promote a cause and encourage others to follow their example. Why wouldn't Sarah do the same?

When we look at Sarah Palin's public persona and general attitude, it doesn't seem very likely that she would be a secret humanitarian, performing her good deeds unnoticed. She's not a low profile type of person.

Haitians are not American enough, perhaps? As for people with Down Syndrome, Sarah Palin seems to believe they need to be protected, not capable of thinking for themselves or of leading independent lives.

Not much faith there. It looks like Sarah Palin made a token donation to a cause she doesn't believe in.

I started this post with a list of people who looked at fellow human beings in dire circumstances and who, out of solidarity, decided that they should offer some help.

We have friends here at Palingates who have volunteered to work in Haiti. I believe they are moved by solidarity and respect for their fellow human beings when they contibute their time and skills.

Sarah Palin cannot be generous because she doesn't appear to have a generous spirit.

Celebrity Levi Johnston is back in town! (Videos) - UPDATE

Levi Johnston might not have a new girlfriend yet, but he is hardly alone!

The cameras are apparently with him all the time now - Levi watching Conan, talking to CNN about the twitter account and trying to meet up with Bristol and Tripp...





...and buying a Christmas present for Tripp!





Guys, don't get me wrong: I LIKE Levi Johnston. He is a straightforward, honest and sometimes witty and very funny guy - I just have great doubts that he is allowed to tell the truth regarding what we most care about: Babygate. But let's leave this issue for the moment. I am happy for him that he now has the attention he deserves and apparently has fun with his son, Tripp. He obviously adores him. I loved watching him showing off the pictures of Tripp - especially the one in the cowboy hat.

UPDATE (H/T Bree Palin): Levi arrived in New York for his Playgirl photoshoot, and he looks more confident by the day. Look at the cool Playgirl-bus waiting for him. Gawker wrote a funny report about his arrival and has some good photos ("The Penis has landed").
