Sarah Palin thinks she is a worker, not a shirker - PLUS: Report, new photos and video from Palin's book signing in Anchorage at Costco

Guest post by Kathleen

The new Sarah Palin meme is, I am much busier and do much more work than anyone else, especially those who live in or work in the political beltway and who are way too preoccupied with imposing their Government plans on you little men what with all their strategery and stuff. That’s also Sarah’s answer to Charles Krauthammer’s assessment that she needs to get down to work – she insists that she is working. So there, Mr Hammer, take that. Ghost penning semi autobiographies combined with elements of commonsense is too Presidential and hard work, so shove your rigid policy homework whatnot where you want, Sarah is not for turning or learning. She will continue talking up a storm from home, in front of her big, new fireplace which looks oh so Presidential and grandiose.

Social media such as Facebook and Twitter will also remain Sarah’s favourite communication method for getting across her message that she’s a worker not a shirker and that she does not play golf, although Timothy Crawford has confirmed that she is leaning towards the lamestream in a good old boys attempt of backslapping goodwill. Get along to go along much Sarah? Is this a flip-flop decision on her part? It seems that it is as according to Sarah any compromise is a flip-flop, as she recently explained in her interview with Robin Roberts on ABC. So it's Sarah Palin herself who "flip-flopped", abandoning her mantra that one should "talk through Fox News."

We shouldn’t forget that Sarah’s creative work of fiction regarding lying, stupidity and cowardice, otherwise known as America by Heart, is still for sale and that yesterday she met and spoke with her favourite patriots (or so she believes) as she touted her wares at the Costco in Anchorage. Gryphen (click for story) and an unknown woman wearing a rather fetching "Worst Governor Ever" t-shirt were not granted an audience but thrown out of Costco instead. Palingates has video and observations from the Costco signing, and an additional report from another reader might follow.

We had our own "boots on the ground" yesterday at the book signing in Anchorage for Palingates, and this is the report from our reader:

"I arrived at the Costco on Dimond Blvd in Anchorage, AK at just before 11 am and not a soul in the line outside... Inside, I was met by a security guard with a gun. Once I was past him there was the table with Sarah's books on it...not one person was looking at them. At the back of the store I would estimate just a little over 200 people. Shoppers were agitated she was there a week before Christmas...trying to get their shopping done. One lady was over heard saying, "Why doesn't she hawk her book at Barnes and Noble?" One guy got irritated when he could not get to the area he wanted...he asked me.."What is going on in here today?" I just said two words..."Sarah Palin". He rolled his eyes and said "She is a C _ _ T!" Wow! I also overheard two ladies complaining that at least 60 parking spaces had been blocked off on one of the busiest shopping days for Costco and they had to park all the way over at Toys R Us. When I left at noon, they still had that area blocked off even though there obviously was not going to be a line.

I saw Chuck, Sr. first.....you would have thought it was his book signing. He had his chest all puffed up like a peacock. People were taking photos with a continual warning to "Keep moving folks, keep moving." People in line had to take off their coats to put in big plastic bins. There was one more armed security person back there. Todd sat at table with Sarah signing books as well. Piper and Uncle Chuck, Jr. mingled there for a while but then spent the next 20 minutes "grazing" their way through Costco...hitting every single sample food kiosk. Piper never once cracked a smile and was wearing loads of black mascara. She looked utterly bored to death, as did Uncle Chuck.

Sarah did not take off her heavy yellow coat. For book signings in the lower 48, she usually is dressed up...not this one. She did not seem to be in her usual hyper mood when she does these book signings. She seemed tentative and tired. I did not hear her screech once.
All in all, in a town of 300,000 , I would say this was a "non event."

For those wondering.....NO, I did not buy a book!"

However, our brilliant reader not only wrote a report - but also made a video clip from the event for us! :-)

See how the masses storm into Costco and ravage the place, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of the future US president in her yellow...attire! ;-)

Speaking of shiny objects: The White House has a web page dedicated to the Christmas holidays at the White House. You can take an interactive holiday tour of the White House, send Christmas greetings to servicemen and women serving overseas, checkout videos showing the preparations for decorating the numerous White House Christmas trees (I’m decorating ours tonight) and my favourite, this video of Michelle Obama reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas during her visit to The Children’s National Medical Center.

Michelle’s special wish for Christmas has already been granted, the signing of a law to make school lunches more healthy – guess which well known heckler doesn’t support that aim?

More early Christmas gifts were given as gay and lesbian military troops are finally recognised as real Americans with the repeal of "Don’t Ask Don’t Tell" yesterday when the “Senate voted 65-31 to end the policy which banned gay and lesbian service members from serving openly in the military.” It’s good to know that a minority group in the USA has obtained some rights under the Constitution.

Andrew Sullivan weighs in with very thoughtful commentary and puts forward the view that acceptance into the American mainstream is critical if gays and lesbians are to overcome any lingering legal and personal discrimination they face. He writes “By removing the bar on military service and the bar on marriage, the gay rights movement is, slowly, increasingly, making America more whole and the gay rights movement obsolete.” I concur and will place his book, "Virtually Normal", which expounds his analysis of current gay and lesbian politics, on my reading list.

I’d like to continue the holiday theme with 2 Christmas holiday recipes – one from the White House and one from our reader Heidi3 courtesy of her German Great-Grandma.

From the White House:

Apple Cake with Maple Glaze

First the Apple Cake. Ingredients:
• 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup grated apples (Granny Smith or Golden)
• 3/4 cup canola or safflower oil
• 1/2 cup light brown sugar (tightly packed)
• 1/2 cup honey (local if possible)
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease one 10 inch cake pan and place parchment paper on the bottom.
Combine oil, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, and eggs in the bowl of an electric mixer – a handheld mixer can be used as well. In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add half of sifted dry ingredients into the liquid mixture, and mix on a low speed. Once everything is combined, add the grated apples and the remainder of the dry ingredients. Finish mixing by hand, and pour into greased cake mold.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Take out of the oven and let cool before unmolding.

Then the Maple Glaze. Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup maple syrup
• 1/3 cup confectioner's sugar

Instructions:
Once cake is in the oven, mix together maple syrup and confectioner’s sugar over low heat until combined. Then increase heat and boil for 30 seconds. Set aside on the stovetop, but off the heat. Pour over cake once it is finished baking and on the serving dish.

*********************************************

The second recipe comes to us from Heidi3 and is a very traditional one from Germany:

Lebkuchen Cookies - yield approx. 10 dozen.

1 cup clover honey (any light honey is fine). You will need to buy two 8 oz. jars, because this 1 cup is a dry cup measure.

1 cup light molasses ("Grandma's Light Unsulfured" is best)

2 eggs

2 cups light brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sour cream

1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda (fresh! - this is the only leavening)

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 to 2 teaspoons salt

5 cups (and as much as 7 cups) sifted unbleached all-purpose white flour
Note: This needs to be an extrememly stiff dough, so keep adding flour, but no more than 7 cups total. Any more will make the cookies "tough".

1/2 cup blanched slivered almonds, pre-dried in oven, but not toasted

1/2 cup walnut pieces

1/2 cup mixed candied fruit (important: pick out the red cherries first)

Blanched almond halves for cookie top decoration:
Buy a 4 oz. package of unblanched whole almonds. Boil a pot of water, and when boiling, remove from heat and immediagtely put in the almonds. Let sit 1/2 hour (no longer, or the skins will stain the white almonds). "Pinch" the almonds from their skins. Let dry 1/2 hour, then they should fall into halves easily.

Instructions: (Blanching the almond halves and some steps below can be done in advance)

Fine grind together: The 1/2 cup very dry slivered almonds, 1/2 cup walnut pieces, and the 1/2 cup candied fruit.

Measure honey, molasses and brown sugar into a medium pot, and over a low heat, warm enough to melt sugar, and make sure no lumps are left. Let mixture cool 1/2 hour.

Beat eggs a bit, then add eggs, sour cream, and ground candied fruit/nut mixture to the honey-molasses-sugar mixture. Pour into very large bowl.

Measure out 5 cups flour before sifting. Add soda, spices and salt, and sift together 2-3 times to ensure equal distribution. In very large bowl, stir flour into honey mixture, adding flour as needed to get a very stiff dough. Cover bowl and refrigerate overnight.

Roll out small portions of dough using floured sleeve over rolling pin, on a floured pastry cloth. Keep rest of dough refrigerated. Roll to 1/4" - 3/8" thick. Using a cardboard cutting pattern, cut out 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" cookies. Press blanched almond half, flat side down, into center of each cookie top.

Using a very lightly greased cookie sheet (or parchment paper, but truthfully I've never tried the paper before), bake 7-8 minutes at 350 degrees. Over-greasing the sheet will lead to unwanted crispy edges. It's best to bake only one sheet of cookies at a time.

Yield: Approximately 10 dozen soft, chewy cookies

MERRY CHRISTMAS From "Heidi3's German Great-Grandma!

UPDATE:

Our friend, well-known Palin critic Sondra Tompkins was also at the book signing and took some great pictures for Palingates - here are some of them, with Sondra's own captions. Just to clarify: The report above and the video clip was produced by another reader from Alaska.

photo-13

Her Travesty has her tongue thing going on again. I did notice it seems to only appear when men are around. Coincidence?

photo-17

"Coat check" for 30 seconds with Her Travesty. Somehow I think she enjoys the fact that folks have to be stripped of their "freedoms" to be seen with her, a kind of sadistic pleasure.

photo-15

"Do you love your freedoms?" Yes, as long as they are secured and no where near Her Travesty.

photo-18

I think the Palin and Heath families have perfected the art of how to be paranoid about everyone and anyone. Chuck's checking me out here.

photo-11

Todd opens books for Her Travesty. Good boy Todd! I did notice neither of them wear wedding bands.

photo-12

Loads and loads of makeup on Her Travesty. And her neck is covered up!! She reads Palingates!! Hahaha!

photo-14

Sarah's Down Syndrome cousin signing books!

photo-19

He's hugging Chuck, who appeared less than pleased at this moment.

photo-8

The picture-taking stage.

photo-6

A view of the picture stage to the left and Her Travesty to the right. That's the "comfortable distance."

photo-10

This is when I began winking at Todd--for fun! ;-)

UPDATE 2:

We are confused now, because Sarah Palin's "cousin Matthew" clearly is a much smaller child and looks very different from the Down Syndrome child in the pictures above - see this clip from Sarah's reality show:

Screenshot with Matthew on the left:

Cousin Matthew - Sarah Palin's Alaska

So what is going on here again?

This comment by Gryphen, who was kicked out by Palin (again), raises even more questions:

I forgot to mention that as I was led out of the book signing area, they left me next to a young adult male with Down syndrome. I did not get the young man's name (I was still kind of wondering about my book) but he asked me if I had gotten my book signed, and when I replied that I got kicked out, he suddenly stiffened up and said "I am Sarah's cousin, and I am the real thing!" I have no idea what he meant by that, so I just nodded my head and said "Oookay, that's nice." After that he kind of turned away from me like I was radioactive or something.

Then the handler brought my book and I left to retrieve my coat, which they had confiscated from all of us before we were allowed close to the "brittle one."

We are dealing with the Palins here, you know...(sigh).

+++++

Update by Kathleen

Thanks to a reader we have a photo of Palin with E -- the young man who is afflicted by Down Syndrome who was signing books at the Costco book signing. I have added the photo to the top of the blog post. Our information is that E is a blood relation of the Palins.

No stopping any time: Shaking the hand of Sarah Palin in Houston and meeting her bots - A report by our reader austintxx

Jack Kerouac
Graphic by Tim Roeloffs, Berlin, 2009 - www.roeloffs1.de

Guest post by austintxx

I did it. I walked to the precipice of Palin and shook the very hand of the Queen herself. Let's start at the beginning.......
Went to the Borders on Kirby in Houston on Sunday and got the book.
Here we go.......

Up at 5am and drinkin' Texas Pecan coffee and gettin' my mind right for my hot date with Aarah......let's see...gotta have some tunes for this "journey"......Hm-m-m.......how 'bout some Southern Fried Boogie........ah , here we go......

Blackfoot "Train , Train"
Well, goodbye pretty mama, get yourself a money man
Goodbye, pretty mama, Lord, get yourself a money man
You take that midnight train to Memphis
Lord, leave me if you can
Oh, take that midnight train to Memphis
Lord, leave me if you can
Oh, take that train, baby....

Oh yeah........now we're rockin' !!
And since I got Keith Richards autobiography to "offset" sarah's "book" and read the REAL truth , we gotta have a Stones tune.........let's see.........Yup , here we go.....

Street Fighting Man by The Rolling Stones

Well , well........creeping into the parking lot before dawn..........SCRE-E-CH !! Holy shit.......is that....is that the infamous Bristol trans-continental black Dodge Ram truck ?!?! The one that has driven a gazillion miles only stopping at Taco Bell and to pick up fresh diapers for Tripp ??

Mysterious truck

Alas , upon further inspection and a good sniffing , it is not Bristol's ride.

Park car and sashay up to the battlefield......er......Borders. Walk around corner and am greeted by a pack of bristling satellite trucks.

TV truck

I walk down the parking lot along the sidewalk to my place in the slowly growing line. I pass the group that has been sitting there since 5-F***ING-o'clock on SUNDAY.

Fans queuing at night

I can POSITIVELY tell you that I was the 49th person in line. It is still dark at 6 am-ish and I'm gettin' hungry. Usually by now I would've had breakfast.......Oh dear God !!....I hear a chirpy voice saying "Donuts".......I turn to see a woman who is trying her best to look like sarah. Trendy glasses , check. Flag pin , check. Bangs , check. Pose for me ?? You betcha' !!

Lady with donut box 2

Donut 2

So I'm making small talk with a teacher who has skipped school for this and I'm thinkin' "Maybe if Piper is here you can tutor her"....
Dawn is barely breaking and I decide to take a smoke and my new friend will hold my place in line as I step down the sidewalk...

E-e-e-e-ek.........it's a wet , dead f***ing mouse !!

Dead mouse

I instantly think I should shout out "She's here !! Look what fell out of her hair"........but think better of it since I came to meet her and did not want to make the natives restless.....

So-o-o-o.........just making small talk with my new friends....and notice a woman coming down the line with a clipboard and talking to people.........she is kinda sideways so I can't quite see what is on her hoodie......she is now one person away and I hear her saying " You should visit the site , it's ONLY the truth , with documents and everything" I think for a millisecond "Palingates" ???? She is now in front of me and I glance down and look at the front of her hoodie.............. I almost do a fucking backflip flatfooted right there !! There IS a God and he has dropped this C4P bot right in front of me !!!!!!! I make benign small talk as to not tip my hand and sweetly ask if I may take her picture. My prey must not , WILL NOT escape me.

Ladies and Gentleman , I present you with a picture of a real live C4P bot.

C4P bot

C4P bot 2

A Borders employee comes down the line and reads us the "rules" and casually tosses out that "Piper and Willow are here" and "Will work the Line".........SURELY God is not going to bless me TWICE today !!

TV cameras

The door pops open and away we go.......this whole part went really fast.......they have it down....we were led upstairs and herded down a book aisle and you didn't lay eyes on sarah til the last minute. She was wearing a lime green dress with a double row of faux brass buttons and the same black stripper shoes that I saw her wear to the First Baptist Church. She looked me right in the eye and shook my hand semi-firmly and briefly clasped her left hand over my hand as she shook it. She then signed my book and again made full eye contact and thanked me. If I didn't know her the way we do , I would have fallen for her charms. She's good.

Never saw Willow or Piper. Not to say they weren't there........I was in the first 50 people and we flew thru..........

No regrets.

Bonus - By Patrick:

Austintxx, thank you so much again for another very special report, and for your initiative. I can already announce that there will be a "sequel" to this report in the near future!

By the way, for austintxx, "Sarah" is "sarah." That's just the way it is. ;-)

Due to the fact that we are just the nicest people on earth, I have obscured the faces of the "bots", despite the fact that the pictures were taken with their express permission. Somehow I feel for these people who are being misled by a crazy, lying woman from Wasilla. I guess I am too kind-hearted.

As many more people start to realize that Sarah Palin is in fact dead serious about running for President, and in light of the fact that she receives quite strong poll numbers, we also finally see rumblings of open Republican opposition - "Morning Joe" Scarborough threw down the gauntlet in an article on Politico:

What man or mouse with a fully functioning human brain and a résumé as thin as Palin’s would flirt with a presidential run? It makes the political biography of Barack Obama look more like Winston Churchill’s, despite the fact that the 44th president breezed into the Oval Office as little more than a glorified state senator.

Still, Palin is undeterred, charging ahead maniacally while declaring her intention to run for the top office in the land if “nobody else will.” Adding audacity to this dopey dream is that Palin can’t stop herself from taking swings at Republican giants. In the past month alone, she has mocked Ronald Reagan’s credentials, dismissed George H.W. and Barbara Bush as arrogant “blue bloods” and blamed George W. Bush for wrecking the economy.

Wow. That’ll win ’em over in Iowa.

One can only guess what comes next on Palin’s bizarre road show. Maybe the publishing world’s favorite reality star can keep drawing attention and selling billions of books by spitting on John Wayne’s grave or “manning up” by shooting an American bald eagle.

Or how about this? Maybe Palin could show up on Fox News and build her weak résumé by tearing down Reagan’s.

Oh, wait. Been there, done that.

When Sean Hannity asked Palin whether being in a reality show diminished her standing to be president, the former half-term governor mocked Reagan’s biography, dismissing him as “an actor.”

Sounding like every left-wing politician and media elitist who ridiculed Reagan for decades, Palin sneered that she could be president if the actor from “Bedtime for Bonzo” managed to do so.

Hey, Joe, I think we should have a chat! ;-)

Here is the clip from "Morning Joe" I have always waited for - the clip was already hotly discussed in our comments, and not everybody is a friend of Joe Scarborough, but I am very, very happy:

Facebook rant in 3...2...1.

Sarah Palin cannot deal with any criticism, and neither can her bots. This will continue to be Palin's "achilles' heel", as any open opposition will drive her nuts.

Apparently Phil Munger wants us to have sleepless nights, when he writes:

At least until she becomes president. Then it's "find the nearest bunker" for bloggers like the ones at Palingates.

Just joking.

The USA is the last remaining global imperial power and, according to Sarah Palin and her followers, "exceptional" and therefore deserves a special place in this world.

However, with the publication by Wikileaks of these US embassy cables, it's obvious that certain things are awkwardly "off balance." For example, some Arab or Middle Eastern countries apparently regard the USA in the first case as a useful tool to do the dirty work for them, and China for example is difficult to challenge as China owns a huge portion of the US debt. Wikipedia notes that "In May 2009, the US owed China $772 billion." How do you give your banker a pep talk?

Simon Jenkins wrote a brilliant article in "The Guardian" and made for example the following observations:

The revelations do not have the startling, coldblooded immediacy of the WikiLeaks war logs from Iraq and Afghanistan, with their astonishing insight into the minds of fighting men seemingly detached from the ethics of war. These disclosures are largely of analysis and high-grade gossip. Insofar as they are sensational, it is in showing the corruption and mendacity of those in power, and the mismatch between what they claim and what they do.

Few will be surprised to know that Vladimir Putin runs the world's most sensational kleptocracy, that the Saudis wanted the Americans to bomb Iran, or that Pakistan's ISI is hopelessly involved with Taliban groups of fiendish complexity. We now know that Washington knows too. (...)

The job of the media is not to protect power from embarrassment. If American spies are breaking United Nations rules by seeking the DNA biometrics of the UN director general, he is entitled to hear of it. British voters should know what Afghan leaders thought of British troops. American (and British) taxpayers might question, too, how most of the billions of dollars going in aid to Afghanistan simply exits the country at Kabul airport.

No harm is done by high-class chatter about President Nicolas Sarkozy's vulgarity and lack of house-training, or about the British royal family. What the American embassy in London thinks about the coalition suggests not an alliance at risk but an embassy with a talent problem. (...)

The money‑wasting is staggering. Aid payments are never followed, never audited, never evaluated. The impression is of the world's superpower roaming helpless in a world in which nobody behaves as bidden. Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, the United Nations, are all perpetually off script. Washington reacts like a wounded bear, its instincts imperial but its power projection unproductive.

America's foreign policy is revealed as a slave to rightwing drift, terrified of a bomb exploding abroad or of a pro-Israeli congressman at home. If the cables tell of the progress to war over Iran or Pakistan or Gaza or Yemen, their revelation might help debate the inanity of policies which, as Patterson says, seem to be leading in just that direction. Perhaps we can now see how catastrophe unfolds when there is time to avert it, rather than having to await a Chilcot report after the event. If that is not in the public's interest, I fail to see what is.

But don't expect Sarah Palin to understand ANY of these arguments.

Sarah Palin's next grand slam: Hollywood filmmakers "disparage the war effort", "trash what the troops fight for", show "reflexive anti-Americanism"

+++UPDATE+++

We have a new TV report, from CBS - see our previous posts regarding "America by Heart" with the topics:

Here is the report from CBS:

Multisource political news, world news, and entertainment news analysis by Newsy.com

+++

Our new post:

Sarah Palin has had a somewhat "love and hate" relationship with Hollywood: One day she would complain because filmmakers were allegedly "mocking her family" (for example in the "Family Guy" affair"), the next day she would embrace Hollywood by offering herself as a commodity in a reality show, by appearing on Leno and of course by famously cheering her daughter on during her appearances with DWTS.

Her "love" for Hollywood seems to have prevailed during the last months into a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship. Therefore it was surprising to read in her new book "America by Heart" that there is another group of people who had become a prominent target for Sarah Palin:

Hollwood filmmakers!

In classic Palin style, she dishes out viciously.

Why?

Well, she explains it in great length.

On page 40, she looks down the barrel of her gun and takes aim:

There was a time when our popular culture shared the American people's admiration of our fighting men and women. They didn't just mouth words about "supporting the troops" while they trashed everything our soldiers were fighting for, the way they often do today. Even Hollywood celebrities risked their lives for the freedom that made them rich.

Hollywood trashes soldiers - p 40

It seems that Sarah apparently holds the view that recently "Hollywood celebrities" have trashed everything American soldiers have been fighting for.

But why is that?

Sarah Palin is not shy to explain and on page 42 she launches her grand slam against Hollywood:

Today Hollywood seems to be more at home disparaging the war effort than supporting it. During the Iraq war, Hollywood did something it had never done before in the history of American warfare: It made movies like Rendition and Green Zone, films that were critical of the war while the troops were still fighting in the field. It's their right to be critical, of course, just as it's our right not to support undermining our troops while they are risking their lives in battle; and Americans didn't. These anti-Iraq War films all tanked at the box office. You would think that if love of country didn't inspire Hollywood to make different films, love of the box office receipts would.

What makes this reflexive anti-Americanism hardest to swallow is the fact that it is our troops - these men and women who are being portrayed as unwitting (and witting) agents of greed and evil on the big screen - who make the entertainment industry possible. Hollywood stars like nothing better than to stand up on Oscar night and congratulate themselves for their courage in speaking truth to power. They forget - or refuse to acknowledge - that someone is paying the price for their freedom to speak their minds. Dissent is a form of patriotism, but it's far from the highest form. Our men and women in uniform own that honor.

BIG HOLLYWOOD SLAM - p 42

BIG HOLLYWOOD SLAM - p 43

So here are two of the movies that Sarah Palin doesn't appreciate, according to "America by Heart."

Rendition, starring Reese Witherspoon:

Controversies about anti-war movies are of course not new. For example, Oscar-winning "All Quiet on the Western Front" from 1930, in my opinion one of the best films of all times, has had quite a history:

All Quiet... was censored and banned in many countries. The French did not like aspersions cast upon the virtue of its women. Germans objected particularly to the character of Himmelstross, who becomes a sadistic Army-sanctioned martinet, and to the discussion amongst the soldiers about the causes of war. Germany was the 2nd biggest European market for American films in 1930, and Universal wanted to make a cut that would be acceptable there, partly because it was the homeland of Universal's founder, Carl Laemmle. But the Nazis disrupted the premiere, Joseph Goebbels made a speech denouncing it, mice, stink bombs and sneezing powder were released in the theater and outside, the SS instigated a riot. The Nazi paper called it "A Jewish lie" and "a hate film slandering the German soldier." The film was banned inside Germany, but the German language version played to full houses just over the border, and special trains and buses transported the audience to theaters in Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. In Poland, the ending was cut. All Quiet... was banned in Italy and did not play there until 1956. It was banned in Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and New Zealand. It finally played Australia with severe cuts. The film was not seen in Germany again until 1952.

So Sarah Palin apparently prefers glorious war films with pure American heroes and lots of shiny uniforms and smiling faces. I think that's what was commonly called "Propaganda" in the past, and would still be regarded as such today.

But what if a war is dirty, rotten, far from pure, when good could suddenly turn into evil and friend or foe could become difficult to distinguish?

Sarah Palin, whose ambition it is to be the first female American president, the commander in chief of the mightiest military machine in the world, has a simple solution:

IT SIMPLY DOES NOT HAPPEN.

You have heard right. In Sarah Palin's world, the USA does not fight unjust wars, because it's simply impossible. Case closed!

She writes on page 38:

"Which is why, contrary to the ugly accusations of the antiwar crowd, America doesn't go to war for big business or for oil or for the sake of imperial conquest."

War not for oil - p 38

This simplistic and naive world view makes me shudder. This is the perception of a young girl who doesn't really know anything about world politics and wars. It's the view of a naive young girl who marvels at handsome soldiers in their smart uniforms. It's Sarah Palin's view.

So, is there any comfort, is there any hope?

Not really. Look at what Sarah describes as her "favorite part" of a song:

Put boot in your ass p 44

And you'll be sorry that you messed with

The U S of A

'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass

It's the American way.

No, this is certainly NOT the American way. That perfectly describes Sarah Palin's way.

Who granted Sarah Palin the right to speak for all of America anyway?

Nobody, as far as I can see.

It's time for American citizens, filmmakers, actors and others to speak up and let the world know what Americans really think about the views of Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin's "America by Heart": Ugly stabs against Barack and Michelle Obama, Malia included to prove point - BONUS: Meet "the entitled whiners"!

UPDATE:

Yesterday's events prove that the 21st century has arrived.

Following our revelation yesterday that Sarah Palin slams in her new book American Idol contestants and Levi Johnston, I have been reading many more pages of "America by Heart." There are some more parts which are worth mentioning. Most, however, is instantly forgettable. The chances that any "non-believer" will turn into a Palin supporter after reading this book are basically zero, as hard as Sarah Palin tries.

Let's take it step by step. What do we have on the menu today?

As was already apparent from the first published excerpts, Palin takes great joy in disparaging others.

So why stop at the first family of the USA?

There is this black socialist in the White House right now, isn't he, and he and his family are apparently fair game.

Predictably, Palin slams for example the healthcare reform over and over again. Not a surprise, as she is on the record with supporting an immediate repeal of the healthcare reform. In case you haven't seen it yet, don't miss Palin's unique "Repeal it now!" performance:

However, Sarah Palin doesn't only take stabs against Barack Obama.

She also targets Michelle Obama. In addition, believe it or not, she even includes twelve-year-old Malia Obama in her book in order to add weight to her political point.

What the heck?

Has Malia Obama, twelve-years-old, ever sought the spotlight? Does Sarah Palin think that Barack Obama will write in his next book about Bristol, Trig and Tripp?

Let's take a look at the excerpt in which Palin takes a particularly nasty stab against Barack and Michelle Obama, on page 26 of the book:

Michelle Obama p 26

As far as I understand, Palin says in this excerpt

1. Barack and Michelle Obama are at least "close" to believing that Tea Party activists are racists, according to Sarah Palin.

2. Michelle Obama never felt proud of her country until her husband won the Presidential election.

3. Their belief that Tea Party activists are racists is not surprising, as according to Palin, both of them spent almost two decades listening to "rants" by Jeremiah Wright against white people.

4. As a "bonus", Palin also slams Eric Holder.

This line of logic appears to have been created on Glenn Beck's, Sarah Palin's dear friend, chalkboard.

Not surprisingly, Glenn Beck is included in the picture section of "America by Heart", proudly looking into the camera together with Sarah Palin ("Glenn and I share an appreciation for Lady Liberty.").

Sarah - you give us Jeremiah Wright, so we give you "Witchdoctor" Pastor Thomas Muthee. That's only fair, isn't it?

"America by Heart" features prominently at many places Bristol, Willow, Piper, Trig, Tripp, Track...why not include at least one of Obama's children as well? What a "brilliant" idea, Sarah!

Here we go, on page 105:

Mailia story - p 105

"Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?"

Who was it again who brought up this story before?

Oh yes, it was Palin's big friend Glenn Beck!

Sarah Palin, let's talk for a moment about your YOUR associations. You attended the annual convention of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) in 1994, after this party was promised sponsorship from the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1993 for a speech at the United Nations (which didn't happen because party leader Joe Vogler was murdered before he could give the speech). See the important report in Salon by Max Blumenthal and David Neiwert from October 2008 with many more details.

Your husband Todd registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party in 1995 and remained a member until 2002. Sarah, do you remember how you tried to cover up this fact during the presidential campaign in 2008 and asked McCain's campaign workers to lie for you?

Sarah, do you also remember how you welcomed the AIP members in the following address in 2008?

If not, please consider your memory as REFRESHED!

I feel like the scriptwriter of the Daily Show right now! What absurdity comes next?

Well - Sarah Palin or her ghostwriter(s) or they all together had a "terrific" idea: Let's do what nobody has done before! Let's slam NASA - yes, you have heard correctly, NASA - and President Obama together in one paragraph, because NASA is following Obama's "instructions", according to Palin!

NASA (potentially elitist, many educated people working there) - and Obama. Together! Genius! Sarah should call herself Einstein.

Here we go, starting on page 164:

Obama NASA 1

Obama NASA 2

Did you get this at the end?

"How condescending to Muslims. How sad for America. And how unsurprising coming from a man who is himself one of the leading exemplars of the new culture of self-esteem."

Yep, she was talking about Barack Obama.

Remember what Sarah Palin said about American Idol contestants, as we reported in our last post:
"Chalk some of them up as victims of the cult of self-esteem. No one they have encountered in their lives - from their parents to their teachers to their president - wanted them to feel bad by hearing the truth. So they grew up convinced that they could become big pop stars like Michael Jackson. On American Idol, of course, these self-esteem-enhanced but talent deprived performers eventually learn the truth. After they've embarrassed themselves for the benefit of the producers, they are told in no uncertain terms that they, in fact, can't sing, regardless of what they have been told by others. But in the wider world, these kind of instances of hard-truth-telling are increasingly rare. Instead of eventually confronting the limits of their inflated egos when it comes to paying the rent and putting food on the table, Americans are increasingly told not to worry about it. Someone else will provide for them."

So Sarah Palin is in fact saying that President Obama won the presidential election despite him apparently being a "self-esteem-enhanced but talent deprived performer." The jealously of this woman knows no bounds.

Well, too bad, Sarah, that you royally fucked it up with the election. It's really about time that somebody tells YOU the truth.

Your mean and nasty traits will be your undoing.

Sarah Palin, what's this new clip here?

Do I see...an inflated ego?

A self-esteem-enhanced but talent deprived performer?

A sense of entitlement?

You tell us, Sarah!

Let's conclude with a bonus, another example of Sarah Palin's hilariously misguided wisdom, on page 166:

Entitled little whiners p166

"In fact, we may be creating a generation of entitled little whiners. I came across an article recently that reported how growing numbers of employers today complain that many young job applicants exhibit all the signs of having been - there's no other word for it - spoiled. These young people feel entitled to jobs and salaries they haven't earned. They have unrealistic views of their own capabilities. They don't take criticism well, and they demand lots of attention and guidance from their employers."

Sarah, to prove your point, I thought it would be a good idea to show our readers two examples of these "entitled little whiners." They REALLY are spoiled brats, I can tell you! Let's just randomly name them "Bristol" and "Willow" - look what they wrote on somebody else's facebook:

Bristol - Willow 1

Bristol - Willow 2

Bristol - Willow 3

Bristol - Willow 4

Bristol - Willow 5

Bristol - Willow 6

Bristol - Willow 7

Bristol - Willow 8

Bristol - Willow 9

Bristol - Willow 10

Bristol - Willow 11

Bristol - Willow 12

Sarah, my advice to you would be that you should be spending more time taking care of what's going on in your own house, before telling your neighbours what to do.
