Sarah Palin's world in turmoil - UPDATE

Sarah Palin has a big problem

A few days ago I couldn't find many news items about Sarah Palin. Today my inbox is full of Google alerts, mainly about the explosive revelations leaked from The Rogue and about the Doonesbury comic strip, also related to the book.

Todd Palin made a ghostwritten statement about the stories, via Scott Conroy's Twitter. I can't see a guy who writes the plural of shoes as "shoe's" using the word "innuendo."

This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us to satisfy his creepy obsession with my wife. His book is full of disgusting lies, innuendo, and smears. Even The New York Times called this book ‘dated, petty,’ and that it ‘chases caustic, unsubstantiated gossip.’

The story about the one-night stand with a basketball player wouldn't seem so explosive if it had been about somebody who doesn't preach abstinence before marriage. We already knew that she was pregnant when she got married to Todd and who knows with how many lesser known partners she had practised abstinence by that time... This revelation is bound to disappoint her "family values" supporters and the fact that the guy is black will horrify those who can't bear the idea of having a black president.

There are also reports of rifts among Palin supporters, with some showing their frustration with Sarah Palin's teasing about running or not.

A seemingly irreparable divide has developed between Sarah Palin’s key supporters in Iowa. On one side is Peter Singleton, the California lawyer who moved to Iowa ten months ago, traveled the state meeting with activists, and created Iowa’s Organize4Palin group. On the other side are several longtime Iowa political activists who volunteered countless hours to develop a grassroots network of support for the former Alaska governor.

The dissension in her Iowa ranks goes along with the continuing narrative about Palin being disorganized. The Iowa Caucus is less than five months away. Peter Singleton says his group has “laid the groundwork” for Palin in the state. However, Bergman, Beeber and Rogers do not believe there is a legitimate campaign structure in place. They will try to help her create one, but Sarah Palin is running out of time, and some of her biggest supporters are losing their patience.

C4P lost a member as well. The person who runs PalinTV cites personal reasons for leaving their ranks.

It looks like things are coming apart for Sarah Palin on all fronts...

UPDATE

Todd Palin gave a fuller statement to the Today show:

"This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us. He traffics in innuendo and falsehoods. A few years ago he interviewed members of Sarah's administration for a magazine article, and afterwards they said that he was the most disingenuous and intellectual dishonest writer they'd ever dealt with. He's spent the last year interviewing marginal figures with an axe to grind in order to churn out a hit piece to satisfy his own creepy obsession with my wife. I'd ask that people consider these facts when evaluating his latest lies."

"I'd ask the fathers and husbands of America to consider our privacy when one summer day I found this guy on the deck of the rental property, just 18 feet away next door to us, staring like a creep at my wife while she mowed the lawn in her shorts, unbeknownst to her that he was prying. As well as our teenage daughters while they tried to enjoy our traditional Alaskan summer days outdoors. Joe's son told the media he advised his dad not to move from the East Coast to become our next door neighbor, but said his dad 'was just waiting for Todd to be out of the picture.' Sarah has never spoken to this intruder into our lives, our friends and family don't speak to him, so we have no idea where he would come up with content for his book. He was on our doorstep one day trying to make conversation with our son until Track cut the conversation short after discerning Joe's odd behavior, and I spoke to him one time when I saw him 18 feet away, just to find out who he was. He took that conversation and reported it to the media as me 'threatening' him."

"Unbeknownst" is so Todd Palin...

Sarah Palin's civic duty

Sarah Palin explained that the reports of her bus tour cancellation were greatly exaggerated:

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled.

As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.

[I suppose this is the scheduling conflict that caused her to cancel the trip to Sudan. I wonder if Franklin is still going...]

It has been reported that judges granted new trials or overturned verdicts in dozens of criminal and civil cases due to jurors' online diversions, and bored citizens waiting for jury selection are tweeting and blogging.

As jurors go online, U.S. trials go off track

The explosion of blogging, tweeting and other online diversions has reached into U.S. jury boxes, in many cases raising serious questions about juror impartiality and the ability of judges to control their courtrooms.

Courts are trying to figure out how to keep jurors unplugged. Some judges now confiscate all phones and computers from jurors when they enter the courtroom. California last year updated its civil jury instructions to bar jurors from "all forms of electronic communication." Florida courts added a stricter instruction, stating that jurors using the Internet "must not disclose your thoughts about your jury service or ask for advice on how to decide a case." At least six other states have taken similar steps. In January, the Judicial Conference of the U.S., which oversees administration of the federal court system, recommended that federal judges use instructions stating that jurors cannot "search the Internet, websites, blogs, or use any other electronic tools."

I wonder if the judge in Alaska will confiscate Sarah's BlackBerries? Her addiction to them is legendary.

I'm sorry, but I find it very difficult to take Sarah Palin seriously these days. I expect she will throw a tantrum if not elected forewoman of the jury...

This spoof tweet looks like one of hers, eh?

Sarah Palin couldn't fulfill her civic duty as an elected public officer and found many lame excuses to justify quitting that position, but now she's looking forward to jury duty? Sheesh...

Why not have some jury duty humour to accompany this post?

Just remember: when you go to court, you are trusting your fate to twelve people that weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty!

***

Judge: Is there any reason you could not serve as a juror in this case?
Juror: I don't want to be away from my job that long.
Judge: Can't they do without you at work?
Juror: Yes, but I don't want them to know it.

Steve Martin tweeted some jokes when he was called for jury duty.

The Importance of Being Homo - PLUS: Sarah Palin the "most annoying person in 2010"

We are all homo sapiens. Some think our predecessor is the homo erectus, but this is being disputed. So what can be so bad about Palin re-tweeting something about "homos." Aren't we all?

"Homo sapiens" means "wise man." It's a nice concept.

Homo Sapiens Leonardo

It's an optimistic concept as well.

Right-wing talk show host and outspoken Palin-fan Tammy Bruce is openly lesbian, and somehow this seems to give her a "licence to be vile in public", although I don't really get the connection.

In any case, on January 4, Tammy Bruce went on a twitter rant against the homophobic navy captain and started like this:

Tammy Bruce Navy Tweets

So she tried to be sarcastic, in her own style, with "straight men" as one of her favorite targets.

Tammy Bruce Homo Tweet

...and the world never was the same again, because Sarah Palin had the audacity the re-tweet this tweet and thus with one stroke liberated all gays everywhere forever.

Tammy Bruce - Thank you Governor

Wow, thank you Governor, thank you so much. The world thanks you, Governor, let the gays and homos or whatever they want to call themselves be free, Governor.

Tammy Bruce was so smitten by this historic re-tweet that she completely "forgot" that Sarah Palin did NOT support the repeal of DADT in the past:

Sarah Palin appeared on FOX News Sunday yesterday and was asked if the military gay ban should be repealed.

Said Palin: "I don’t think so right now. I’m surprised that the President spent time on that in his State of the Union speech when he spent only about 9 percent of his time in the State of the Union on national security issues. And I say that because there are other things to be worried about right now with the military. I think that kind of on the back burner, is sufficient for now. To put so much time, and effort, and politics into it, unnecessary."

Blessed be the short term memory.

So, Tammy Bruce is apparently allowed to call the gay people "homos" in a sarcastic way, as she is one of these "marginalized" people. Logical, isn't it? But God forbid somebody else calls Tammy something she shouldn't be called. Then she might shoot back big time, surprise, surprise.

"Former KFI-AM (640) overnight host Tammy Bruce, who last year came under fire for critical remarks she made on the air about Bill and Camille Cosby, has filed suit against the station and key personnel on charges that include sex discrimination, discrimination due to sexual orientation, wrongful termination, sexual harassment and slander.

Named as defendants in the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, are Cox Radio-owned KFI, Program Director David G. Hall, General Manager Howard Neal and nighttime host Phil Hendrie.

(...)

n the 27-page suit, filed March 16, Bruce did not ask for a specific dollar amount but says at several points that the damages she sustained are "greatly in excess of $50,000." Her lawyer, Patricia Bellasalma, said Bruce seeks compensation for "back pay, front pay, pain, suffering and emotional distress."

Bruce, 36, who is openly gay and a former president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women, was suspended by KFI last July 10, following her July 8-9 broadcast that criticized the Cosbys and prompted them to complain to management. Hall and Neal went on the air Aug. 19 and 20 to apologize for Bruce's remarks. Later, the station said that her contract was not being renewed.

In her suit, Bruce charges that she was "disparately treated" in the Cosby case, contending that KFI had neither suspended nor apologized for male hosts who had been the subject of complaints or civil actions. She also charges that, independent of and long before the Cosby controversy, she had complained to Hall about derogatory remarks and harassment of her by various employees regarding her sexual orientation. The behavior did not cease and constituted a hostile work environment, the suit says--extending even to KFI's Web site, where it says derogatory remarks were made about her even after she was no longer on the air."

While gays can apparently call a homo a homo while others should rather refrain from doing so, Tammy Bruce calls other people lots of other stuff as well, and apparently thinks that this is perfectly alright. For example, just as her big idol "Governor Palin", she also seems to enjoy making vile stabs at Michelle Obama:

What can I say? Tammy Bruce is a very vile person. And it's completely irrelevant if she is "homo" or not. Why are all of "Governor Palin's" friend just insufferable people, one by one? Why am I even asking?

Time for some humor, after so much depressing smut!

In the show which was aired on December 31, 2010, Joy Behar's panel took a vote on who was the "most annoying person of 2010."

Guess who won? ;-)

This is a memorable and highly enjoyable clip! Joy Behar's guests are:

- Rob Shuter, AOL`s "Popeater" columnist
- Comedian Judy Gold
- Clinton Kelly, co-host of "What Not to Wear" on TLC and the author of "Oh, No, She Didn`t"

Many other great parts can be found in the transcript on CNN, but this is the only clip I found so far.

Another part of the conversation made the news as well. TLC co-host Clinton Kelly is not a fan of Sarah Palin:

BEHAR: I heard the ratings went down.

SHUTER: They did go down, but they went down from a huge number, so it’s still, like, in the top 10 shows on — is TLC your channel?

KELLY: It is my channel.

SHUTER: It is…

BEHAR: What do you think?

KELLY: What do I think?

BEHAR: Yes.

KELLY: You know, look, I’ll be honest with you. I wasn’t thrilled when I heard that Sarah Palin had an eight-hour infomercial, you know, on my network because she basically stands for everything I don’t stand for or I’m against. So it’s a little bit rough. It’s a little — what bothers me the most about her is her hypocrisy. And you know, I’m trying to be funny here, but I can’t even think of a joke.

BEHAR: That’s OK. You don’t have to be funny.

KELLY: I hate somebody who’s, like, Oh, look at nature. Look at this beautiful Alaska.

BEHAR: Yes.

KELLY: Look how beautiful everything is. Let’s go kill something…

BEHAR: Right.

KELLY: … because we need some meat in the refrigerator.

BEHAR: I know. As if anybody in New York City can relate to this.

Here is another interesting part of the conversation during the show:

BEHAR: Mi casa es su casa. What about Sarah Palin? Do you think she is the face of the Tea Party?

(CROSSTALK)

LEVY: Yes, obviously.

BEHAR: Is she responsible for its popularity?

LEVY: I don`t think she`s responsible for its popularity.

BEHAR: Yes.

LEVY: I -- I honestly think we can`t under estimate these people and their rage, their white rage, their anger over the situation we find ourselves in economically and their ability to pin it on a black man in the White House.

And I really don`t think we should under estimate Sarah Palin, who is scary. She is terrifying.

BEHAR: Well, she could become president in 2012.

LEVY: And she -- and she has successfully blurred --

FUGELSANG: But she will.

(CROSSTALK)

LEVY: -- that well, I`m not sure about of that.

BEHAR: It`s -- it`s the year of the apocalypse. I read that.

FUGELSANG: Well, if the Mayans were only warning us about the movie "2012" it`s not the actual year.

DANA: Oh, ok all right.

BEHAR: Yes.

LEVY: But -- but I think the reaction from every smart left-leaning person I know about Sarah Palin is she won`t become president in 2012. And you flash back it -- flash back to the Reagan election.

(CROSSTALK)

FUGELSANG: Oh and --

LEVY: Every smart person, every smart left-leaning person when Reagan was elected was like you know what, he`s nothing but an actor. He doesn`t really know anything. And boom, we got eight years of him and we`re still paying for it.

FUGELSANG: It`s very --

DANA: That`s right.

FUGELSANG: -- but Reagan was much more popular within his own party and had a much higher polling numbers beforehand. I think Sarah Palin is sort of like the Flavor Flav of the Republican Party, you know she`s definitely entertaining but kind of embarrassing to the movement.

Is Sarah Palin an embarrassment to the Republicans? I certainly think so.

Republicans currently fall all over themselves to declare that Sarah Palin is "unelectable" - for example George Will, Charles Krauthammer and even "red-state" Erick Erickson, calling her "radioactive." Pretty good, given the fact that the primaries haven't enough begun.

What I will say is that in my opinion it won't be enough for Republicans to say that Sarah Palin is "unelectable." This won't stop Palin's hardcore constituency from voting for her - and unfortunately, some naive Democrats, inspired by idiots like "primariesforpalin", might be tempted to vote for Palin in the primaries as well. Though I hope that all major Democratic players will speak out against such a strategy, it's not impossible that some people want to play political chess games again. I have said it before: Playing games with political extremists would be a very dangerous and irresponsible move.

Republicans will need to become more "specific" at a later stage. Just calling Sarah Palin "unelectable" and a "reality show star" will not be enough to safely stop her. Fortunately, her resume is littered with lots of scandals and inconvenient facts, so there is plenty to choose from.

Twitter had been hacked - UPDATE: All fine now again, it's fixed - More silly tweeting: Sarah Palin thinks that Acorn still exists

UPDATE: It's fixed, twitter is safe again.

+++

Attention, tweeters!

The website of twitter.com has been hacked and has been infected with a "virus" - please DO NOT go the website, not even for looking for what has happened!

Also HERE.

Please note that this hack can also affect twitter accounts.

Somebody already made a video about it today:

You can apparently still safely tweet over third party-applications like tweetdeck.

UPDATE:

CBSnews now reports that twitter will make an update soon, trying to remove the security flaw.

UPDATE 2:

Twitter says that they have patched (fixed) the security flaw now, but for anybody who still wants to be on the safe side for a bit longer, you can safely tweet over the mobile twitter website, which was not affected.

UPDATE 3:

It's fixed and it's safe to use twitter again.

+++

MORE SILLY TWEETING:

Queen Sarah just woke up and thought it's a good idea to entertain her subjects with a very clever tweet:

When we first saw Sarah's new tweet, we thought it's probably one of her "parody twitter accounts" - but Sarah is her own parody now. ;-)

+++

Our reader maelewis left an excellent comment regarding Sarah's new tweet:

"I loved Patrick's tweet about Acorn. Let me think, how many rallies did Acorn have on the Mall in Washington DC? Did they all dress up like Oak Trees and drop their deadly fruit on people? Maybe they dressed up like the fake pimp and his young lady, looking for a government handout? Did they have nasty signs about GWB in a Nazi uniform? (Ooops, no, that's the cover of Glenn Beck's book).

As far as the progressive left wing socialist communist fascist union-loving liberals are concerned, the last time I saw them all assembled in Washington DC was to cheer President Obama as the first person of mixed race to be sworn in as President of the United States. (First person of mixed race that we know of). The rally that is planned by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert is not being organized by people who give donations to political candidates or speak or their behalf. Stewart & Colbert are entertainers. They are boosting their TV ratings during sweeps, a time when ratings are taken, which will influence how much can be charged for advertising. They are going to use their rally as comic fodder for their TV shows. If anything, we can count on them to use satire to make fun of Glenn Beck and especially Glenn Beck's rallies. They might even cry or have a geese flyover. Jon Stewart has done a brilliant impersonation of Beck at the blackboard; I hope they have a jumbo blackboard there, along with the Vicks. (If they don't use Vicks to produce fake tear, how about a bag of onions?)

As for Acorn, I never heard of them before the Right demonized them, set them up and drove them out of business. People who worked at Acorn did not have their own radio or TV programs, where they spewed hatred and launched political attacks. When Sarah tweets on her own, she really does display the depth of her political knowledge. As for the Left talking about who is funding the Tea Party, something hit another sore spot with Sarah. I guess she had to defend her bosses at Newscorp and/or anyone else funding her. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen."

+++

Here is a good one - Sarah Palin and the twitter hack nicely mixed together:

Not Javascript hack

Even Greta Van Susteren apparently (?) realizes that Sarah's tweet was moronic:

Greta Acorn tweet

OMG, the Palinbots will go beserk!

Wasn't Greta ALWAYS a highly suspicious person? Palinbot talking point number one (wait for it): "I never trusted her."

Or shall we interpret Greta's tweet as "support" for Sarah...? Well, they could both be just plain stupid, it's possible. ;-)

Sarah Palin's twitter madness: Lessons in fear mongering and being disrespectful - Get on twitter, everyone, and tell Sarah what YOU think! - UPDATE!

Sarah Palin's meltdown can be watched in real time - thanks to twitter. Yesterday, she went again on the Islam-bashing trail, as there is hardly another topic with which it's easier to whip up the right-wing masses. We have an enemy again! It's the Muslims! The ones who brought you 9/11! They look dark, foreign and suspicious! Almost like our President! Don't trust them!

mosque tweet 1

...which resulted in a "twitter explosion" - people weren't accepting the hate mongering and thousands of tweets were sent off against the ex-Governor who simply "loves to hate."

It seems that Sarah was somewhat dismayed by the negative reaction. So the Quitter Queen, who hates nothing more than other people objecting to her ("OBEY!"), sent off a series of "take that, libruls" tweets today. As usual, her stupidity knows no bounds - however, she also included a nasty, ugly and utterly disrespectful tone against President Obama, which seems to get worse by the day. If that's not inciting hatred, then I don't know what it is:

mosque tweet 2

mosque tweet 3

mosque tweet 4

mosque tweet 5

mosque tweet 6

She also published a facebook post:

Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

- Sarah Palin

"Not above your pay grade?" Is this how you "talk" to the President of the USA these days? Interesting...because your President is just upholding the constitution!

So why do we even have worry about this loose canon, who is clearly out of her tiny mind?

Because she has powerful friends - that's why.

As we all know, Rupert Murdoch stands firmly behind her. Apart from that, I would like to mention that for example just recently, the RNC "employed" Sarah Palin to write a long "begging letter" for them. I know that there will come the time when the RNC won't even admit that they ever heard of Sarah Palin, but we won't forget. Thankfully, the website "blacktalkradio" published a scanned copy of the letter which was sent out to Republicans all over the country several days ago. Attached to the letter was a survey, which apparently just matches Sarah Palin's limited intellectual capabilities:

Letter 1

Letter 2

Survey

Take notice of what Sarah Palin writes in the second paragraph of the letter: If you agree with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, than "put this down" - the survey "isn't for you."

So Sarah Palin doesn't even pretend to be interested to hear from anyone who disagrees with her!

What kind of President would Sarah Palin make? I think some famous dictators in history had exactly the same approach. We know how that ended!

Please also listen to the broadcast on "blacktalkradio" about this topic, it's very good!

So, what to do now?

Everyone, let's get on twitter and let the Quitter Queen know what you think about her and her hateful and ignorant tweets!

Opening a twitter account is easy. Everyone can do it! Please click here for video tutorial, explaining the most important functions of twitter.

A very helpful tool for everyone who would like to get serious with twitter is tweetdeck.

Please click here for a tutorial which explains the functions of tweetdeck. I know that several Gators are already successfully using tweetdeck.

What you then should do is to connect with all the other Gators, follow them and collect new followers. This way, a very powerful twitter chain can be created which ultimately will be able to spread around new messages wide and quickly.

If you for example go to the Palingates twitter, you find immediately lots of other people to follow - and they have other friends. And don't forget to follow Palingates! ;-)

Important: Please retweet the twitter messages of your friends that you like! All you have to do is to click on the "retweet" button next to the tweet.

In order for your tweets to show up in searches, make sure that you include terms for example like "@sarahpalinusa" (meaning: message for sarahpalinusa) or "#palin" (meaning: the hash tag indicates that the message deals with Sarah Palin).

We also would like more people to publish twitter messages which contain links to Palingates. If you want to share the blog post, there is a very easy way: Our new fancy wibaya-toolbar has a function to share the posts over twitter. You need to be logged in to twitter before you do that.

If you click on "twitter" in the wibaya toolbar at the bottom of the page, the following window opens:

Palingates twitter toolbar

On the left hand side, the wibaya toolbar has already included a shortened link to the blog post you are reading at this moment. You then just have to type the message and send the tweet off!

If you want to include links in twitter, you will usually be required to shorten them in order to fit them into 140 characters. For that, I would recommend tinyurl.com - at this website, you paste the original link (which can be very long, it doesn't matter) and receive a short "tinyurl" link which you then copy and paste in your tweet.

If somebody isn't sure how to copy and paste - here is a video tutorial.

We should all make sure that twitter doesn't belong to the bigots and hate mongers, especially now where it has turned into Grandma Palin's favorite propaganda tool.

It's easy, and it's fun! As a bonus, you can also send private messages on twitter, which is an efficient way to get in touch with each other.

Now, please don't forget to tweet this blog post! ;-)

UPDATE:

Our reader SALLY_M had some brilliant advice:

There is a service called "twitter100".

That's incredibly helpful for everyone who wants to build up a network. You can search for users and see the latest tweets from their followers, for example:

You have to wait several seconds for the page to load!

Try it! Works great!

UPDATE 2:

Existing mosque alert!

Our reader PaulaCD just let us know in the comments that there is already a mosque existing close to Ground Zero - just four blocks away! It's run by the non-profit organization Masjid Manhattan.

So what's the big deal with building the new "mosque", which actually will be a multi-functional Islamic Community Center with prayer room? This new "mosque" will be two blocks away - is this really any significant difference?

On the website of Masjid Manhattan, it says:

Masjid Manhattan, established in 1970, is a not-for-profit organization currently located in the heart of downtown Manhattan, near City Hall and the World Trade Center. Wa'al-hamdulillah, our Masjid, has become one of the most famous and most visited Masajid in New York City. Additionally, it has become "The Castle of Da'wah" for non-Muslims bringing many of them, through its Da'wah program, into Islam.
Since its opening, the Masjid has been offering various services to the Muslim community. Some of these services are:

  • Five (5) Congregational Salahs (Jammah) every day, seven days a week. Hundreds of brothers and sisters gather here to worship Allah (SWT).
  • Congregational Friday Sermons (Ju'mmah) where more than 1,000 brothers and sisters, who come from all over Manhattan and the Tri-state area, gather in unity to praise Allah (SWT).
  • Daily Iftar and Taraweeah prayer during the month of Ramadan.
  • Islamic education on: Tajweed Al-Quran, Tafseer Al-Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Sirah and Arabic language.
  • Hajh seminars and trip arrangements for Hajh.
  • Da'wah program.

Here is a website with further info about Masjid Manhattan, and here is a small picture:

Masjid Manhattan pic

This is the location of Masjid Manhattan on the map:

Masjid Manhattan Mosque NY

See in comparison the location of the planned, controversial "Ground Zero mosque":

map Cordoba House

This makes it even more obvious that the current "mosque-controversy" is just a big show, a despicable manufactured controversy, designed to whip-up the right-wing base.

This manufactured controversy can easily damage the relations to American Muslims on a long-term basis, and we should not let this happen.

In addition, I would like to add an excellent comment by our reader maelewis:

Last week, The Daily Show and Jon Stewart did a wonderful segment about that mosque. They began by showing all of the food carts that sell food on every street corner in New York City, including close to the site of the former World Trade Center. The food carts are called Hallal stands, meaning Kosher for Muslims, who will not eat pork, and require meat to be slaughtered in a traditional way. The cab drivers who drive past Ground Zero are of every nationality, including Muslim cab drivers. The entire sketch was developed in a humorous way, rather than using a preaching tone. I hope that it is still there on the Comedy Channel website.

I might add that there is another mosque, ten blocks away. How far is too far, or how close is too close? The Pentagon was also attacked on September 11. They have had a mosque in there; Moslems serve in our armed forces, and Moslems died in the attack on September 11. One Moslem was a policeman who rushed in with an emergency aid kit, trying to rescue people. Some worked in investment offices, others worked as janitors,or as waiters in the Windows on the World Restaurant at the top of one of the Twin Towers.

New York is a very heterogenous city. In a city block, one can hear different languages spoken, and see people in different forms of national dress. There is a section of Manhattan west of Fifth Avenue, from the 30's south through the 20's. This was once the vibrant garment district. In a couple of blocks, there are Korean wholesale costume jewelry stores, wedding suppiers with signs in Spanish and English, Japanese beads, Indian fabric stores. A few blocks to the north at 47th street, very religious Jews sell expensive jewelry. Everyone goes about their business. I was in that area a month after September 11. There were handwritten signs in windows with messages of love and support beautiful expressed. People walking into a shop asked carefully if the people knew anyone who had been involved in the attack. People openly hugged in the street. I can state that Sarah Palin has absolutely no concept of what it is like to be a New Yorker, to live in New York and deal with people of all backgrounds, cultures, languages and customs on an ordinary day.

How much stupid can Governor Dumbass of Backasswards Sarah Palin fit into 140 characters? - Palin refudiates Shakespeare's language on twitter

Half-term Governor Sarah Palin apparently still has unsupervised access to her twitter account. My prediction is that this situation will have no future. 140 characters are too much - and WHERE IS THE GODDAMN DICTIONARY!

So today she twittered the following:

Refudiate screenshot

Screenshot courtesy of Little Green Footballs!

Then she "tweeleted" the tweet (hi Ripley in CT!).

"Refudiate"? Sounds somehow not entirely appropriate. The rest wasn't great either.

Governor Smartypants then released the following replacement tweet into the world:

Sarah Palin - Refute Mosque tweet

Was that all? NO! Another message followed:

Sarah Palin - provocation tweet

I really can not say it any better than others have already expressed it. Allow me to quote the highly respected moderate-conservative website Little Green Footballs:

"It should be pointed out (again) that the “Ground Zero mosque” these idiots are ranting about is actually a proposed community center with an auditorium, swimming pool, and restaurants, in addition to a mosque. It would be housed in an existing 13-story building that’s two blocks away from Ground Zero and has no view of the area; there are two very big buildings in between the proposed community center and Ground Zero."

Lots of twitter users shot back at Sarah Palin - with well placed arrows:

Temporal Flush tweet 1

Temporal Flush tweet 2

Amongst the many great comments on Little Green Footballs is this one:

So it seems, in effect, she is asking peaceful Muslims to do what the NAACP is asking of the Tea Party: to distance themselves from their extremist elements.
