Sarah Palin's Alaska TV reality show - Teaser - UPDATE

+++

UPDATE (by Patrick):

LOSERS REUNITED:

Facebook blogger and Fox News contributor Sarah Palin finally reunites with John McCain - dreaming the dream once again! It's not surprising that Sarah's speech sounded like a 2008 campaign speech - somehow like a scratched record.

Sarah wears a smashing new biker look - hell yeah/no and don't forget to repeal, USA!

Here are Sarah Palin's and John McCain's complete speeches from today in Arizona:

CNN has a shorter clip HERE.

John McCain pretends to be convinced that the healthcare reform will be repealed soon - good luck with that!

On Twitter, somebody posted a photo from today, showing Sarah, Todd, Cindy and John (click to enlarge):

UPDATE 2 (by Patrick):

Here we have another picture with Sarah's hilarious outfit from today (click to enlarge):

Here we have Sarah today together with Jason Recher just behind her, who replaced (some say: ousted) Meg Stapleton, and who now is with Sarah basically all the time:

More pictures HERE.

(h/t RLS and ltl 1 - many thanks!)

UPDATE 3 (by Patrick):

Twitter isn't very kind to Queen Swinderella today - I am sure the next whine attack is already in the works!

UPDATE 4:

Sarah Palin and John McCain were interview by Greta van Susteren on Fox yesterday. It was quite a surreal and sorry display of two people who obviously never understood why they have lost the election - you can watch the two parts of the interview HERE and HERE.

Sarah Palin Raises Money For Alan Grayson

By Kathleen

Alan Grayson, in his recent fundraising message, took a neat swipe at Sarah Palin’s distorted view of “Real America” when he wrote that she would never understand that America is a country of people who believe in doing “good things for the benefit of all”. In response to her recent visit to Florida,

and her attack on him, he’s hoping to send a resounding message to Sarah by means of a “moneybomb” fundraising extravaganza which ends on March 27th 2010.

The following is the letter that Alan sent out to his supporters on the 17th March asking for their support in order to beat back Sarah Palin. It’s clear from this and from subsequent media interviews that Alan has a very keen awareness of exactly the type of person that Sarah is and what it is she stands for. In his usual erudite yet humorous fashion he even offers to debate with Sarah on the issues.

Last week, Sarah Palin came to Orlando to help defeat me. Palin gave a speech in which she said that the Republicans needed “take me out.” Like she was shooting a moose from a helicopter.

This week, you and I got 75 cosponsors for our Medicare You Can Buy Into Act. 75 co-sponsors, in six days.

We did this together, with People Power. I was talking to members on the floor of the House, and you were sending e-mails and phone calls. My colleagues told me about all the creative ways that you reached them. Many of you forwarded to me the messages you sent.

THAT is what a movement looks like. THAT is the America we believe in, where we help each other, where we do good things for the benefit of all. It is an America that Palin would never understand, despite her formidable powers of comprehension.

And here is something else that we’ve done together. We’ve put together a campaign to beat back Sarah Palin. A campaign not funded by favor-seeking rich people and corporations, but by people like you. Last quarter, you helped me raise $500,000 dollars in one day, an average of $50 at a time. This blew away fundraising for every other House campaign, including people that took money from insurance companies, Wall Street, and defense contractors.

And you sent a message that was heard loud and clear. We like leaders with guts. And now, despite all the right-wing stalling and kvetching, we are going to get things done.

Let’s send that message again. On March 27, we’re going to drop another moneybomb on the special interests.

And what was my response to the Queen of the Quitters? I said that I looked forward to an honest debate with Governor Palin on the issues, in the unlikely event that she ever learns anything about them.

Naturally, Sarah will never accept his invitation to honest debate because Alan would dissolve her in moments and she would be melted into air, into thin air. It would be a perfect Shakespearean moment…

Sarah Palin and the Discovery Channel - Connecting the dots

By Helen (nailinpalinnow)

When Palin, and $$$ and media are involved, Murdoch can't be far away, can he?

Here is a connect-the-dots exercise which explains why Discovery Channel has shocked its mild mannered and thoughtful audience by acting like a real hussy and selling out her good name and reputation to the likes of $ister $arah.

1. Discovery Channel is owned by Discovery Communications, Inc.

2. Sometime late 2009, a Mr. Peter Liguori was named COO of Discovery Communications, effective January, 2010. He replaces Mark Hollinger, who did not leave the organization but was named president and CEO of Discovery Networks International.

3. Next up comes the Hong Kong connection, the city where Murdoch reigns - at least as much as any other Westerner in the world. Dec 7 2009 “Discovery Communications has announced that Chief Operating Officer and long-time Discovery executive Mark Hollinger has been named President and CEO of Discovery Networks International. Hollinger joined Discovery Communications in 1991 as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. In 1994, he was named Acting General Manager for Discovery Channel Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Hollinger was responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the launch and operation of Discovery Channel Asia."

4. Back to Peter Liguori, the new Chief Operating Officer of Discovery - who do you think Mr. Liguori used to work for? Fox Television and Ol’ Murder himself... although on the surface it seems they didn’t get along so great. About a year ago, in March 2009, Murdoch “repositioned” Liguori out of Fox as head of its prime time entertainment schedule.

“The most surprising aspects of last week's News Corp exec shakeup, the ouster of Fox Broadcasting CEO (Peter Liguori) and the promotion of Fox Searchlight prez Peter Rice to head of entertainment for Fox TV, have now been explained. Liguori was never very close to Rupert Murdoch, making it easy for Rupe to get rid of him to keep Peter Rice - head of Fox's successful Searchlight studio - in the fold, Variety says.” Long story short, Rupert liked Rice personally as he was the son of an old friend of his - but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take a business meeting with Liguori wherever he landed next.

5. Now in March of 2010, just one year later, a Murdoch minion is caught publicly salivating over sweet and innocent Discovery Communications, Inc. according to the New York Times, March 2010 - "Rupert Murdoch’s deputy, Chase Carey, looked out on the cable televisions landscape last fall and found a rival he wanted to emulate. Discovery Communications, he said, is “a road map of where I’d like to be.”

That is a big endorsement of Discovery, especially considering that it is just one-ninth the size of Mr. Murdoch’s company, the News Corporation. It is a testament to the fact that Discovery, the owner of 13 cable channels in the United States, has become a favorite on Wall Street, and its chief executive, David Zaslav, has become the subject of envy in the television industry.

6. So Rupert has Palin as a product, Discovery Channel as a prize to be won, Ligouri as a useful contact and Hollinger in place as another possibly even older contact. Is Murdoch trying to wage war on The Discovery Channel with Palin as his beachhead?

All I can say is that it is pretty clear that because of the toxic combination of Murdoch/Palin/Discovery Channel Execs, $error now has the ability to chirpily squawk about how much she loves the land she despoiled to millions and millions of people all over the world, while forever tainting the Discovery brand and getting paid a whole lot to do so.

sp alaska

According to Wiki, Discovery Channel is currently the most widely distributed cable network in the United States, reaching more than 92 million households, part of its global audience of 431 million homes in 170 countries and territories. Versions of the channel are seen in Latin America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, India, Malaysia and other countries.

Someone commented here recently that big money was behind this newest Palin showbiz circus, and it looks like they were right. I’m not sure our earnest letters regarding Discovery Channel’s brand name or intentions will really make any difference at all. But we can try. Their offices are located in Silver Spring Maryland, and here is a corporate office phone number and the names of the chief executives.

Discovery Communications, Inc.
Discovery Place
Silver Spring, MD 20910
Phone: 240-662-2000
Fax: 240-662-1868

Chairman - John Hendricks
President, CEO, and Director - David Zaslav
COO - Peter Liguori

Another interesting discovery - The final dot?

It seems that Murdoch has more than a passing association with the Discovery Channel. In fact, a deeper look into the Grey Fox’s dealings for the past 15 years shows a disturbing pattern – one that hints at tax evasion on a high level and also gives notice to regular viewers that Murdoch is probably part owner of the “thinking man’s cable channel” already – but nobody knows for sure, including the IRS.

Any hour long internet search will reveal that Mr. Murdoch has a long time association with a certain John Malone, a mini-media mogul who serves at times as Murdoch’s partner, and at times as his arch-nemesis and rival. Strange as that may seem, it is a lesson to all of us lesser mortals (who are even now, sweating the fact that taxes are indeed due). Murdoch and Malone have played a decades long game of swapping media holdings, mostly to keep themselves amused, and with the side benefit of reducing or eliminating taxes on the businesses they exchange. How is that possible? The only way I can explain it is to say, if you can make the money trail extremely confusing, the best the IRS can do to keep up with you is to simply ask you what you owe, and trust you to pay at least that. One of the best examples of the business media sitting back and watching this display is given HERE.

So after many swaps and brinksmanship games with Malone’s Liberty Media which has held up to 20% shares of Discovery Channel Holding Co., it seems likely that Murdoch has a comparable interest in Discovery Communications today.

Certainly enough that a simple phone call could easily be made to Discovery Channel executives along the lines of, “Murdoch is calling, I’d like you to listen to his Palin proposal and be very open to his ideas about a show. Yes, you heard me, I said Palin.”

"Sarah Palin's Alaska" is officially headed to Discovery Communication's TLC and they're proud of it.

A Day In The Life Of A Haiti Volunteer Doctor

By BanditBasheert

Hi everyone – RPK asked me to blog an update on the 4+ days that hubs has been in Haiti based upon the emails and pictures I have received.

After about 15 phone calls back and forth, the charter flight left Miami and arrived in beautiful humid Port au Prince

Hubs and the others picked up their luggage on the tarmac went through customs and were trucked to the hospital compound.

New photo:

(This second photo arrived about 10 minutes ago, reporting on a warm, sunny day)

After dumping their bags in the sleeping area everyone got to work.

They are up at 5:30am (most by choice since it’s possible to take a 2 minute shower in reasonably cool water at that hour.) Then it’s off to the coffee tent (they provide the water) and then the day begins.

“So this is shorter than planned. Finished at 7:00 tonight and spent a good part of the day in the OR. I am the wound consult for most of the hospital *nd am working closely with the plastic surgeon from. Amazing what I have seen in one day. Off to have some trail mix and mango chips for dinner. Will try to send more later.”

The days are absolutely crazy busy. Burns, fractures, wounds, crush injuries – it’s never ending. The compound has over 600 people. The UN is next door. The compound is walled off and security is provided by the US Military and the U.N. You are advised to NOT leave the compound alone, even to go to the UN.

“Well, it is a different life down here as expected.
Up at six, shower, shave briefly, brush, put on scrubs, eat a breakfast bar, and head for the meeting. A general briefing and off with out teams. I am with the wound care team, and basically am the only MD on it. A plastic surgeon from the Sun City area is also here, and as we shall see, we interact a lot.

The morning begins with dressing changes in our wound care room, and many are done under some anesthesia. Because most of the patients have been so traumatized, they are very sensitive to pain. We fortunately have a big wound care team, today about 8-9 as the group that will be leaving tomorrow are still working with us today.. Some are really excellent in wound care, and others less so although all are enthusiastic. I participate in some of this, but am often called to consult on wounds on the wards or in other departments. This includes the wound outpatient clinic as well as the pediatric ward. It is amazing what you see."

Days run together. MRE’s have not turned up so everyone is living out of their suitcases. You can run to the UN for a burger and beer, if you can find the time!

“It's now 1:30 and we are about to take our first break. Temp is warm, but not unbearably hot. It's amazing the injuries we see. Most probably earthquake relater, but not all. I seem to be the go to guy to solve management problems when different services are involved.
More later."

The day continues.

“I also spent almost half the day in the OR. Working with the Plastic Surgeon, as well as with other surgeons, on wound problems, and providing a link to the wound service. We took a break, about ½ hour at about 1. The lemon pepper tuna tasted great with a few dried mango slices, I have now just finished at 7:00 PM with the last two burn cases in the OR. Back for a dinner of trail mix, and some dried fruit. It tomorrow is lighter, we may go to the UN compound for dinner and a cold beer. The drinking water here is either tepid or possibly downright warm. The raspberry drink mix tastes really good. MRE's have not been available. Apparently they arrive from time to time. So the food that I brought is really worthwhile.”

OMG he misses “ice” – all water is “tepid”. Fortunately the malaria laden mosquitos haven’t shown up at night. Not everyone brought enough food – so people are sharing. Food is brought into the hospital twice a day but when you are in the OR, you can’t just stop and eat rice and beans! And there is NO place to buy food even if you could leave.

“Wounds care and dressing changes are done under anesthesia. These people are so traumatized that they are highly pain sensitive so you are unable to treat them except in an O.R.”

Yesterday’s email:

“2:30 - lunch time. Today opted for peanut butter on crackers, raisin/cranberry fruit, crystal light with water and a little trail mix for dessert. The latter has to be eaten with a spoon as all the chocolate has melted.

We were told this AM, that this compound will be moving in the next 4-6 weeks as it will flood. They say there was quite a bit of water, even into the main tent with the recent rains. They are trying to move into an actual building and may even have a rehab center. We have many patients here who are only here as they have no place to go, and must have some way of caring for their wounds. Also a fair number of paraplegic with various pressure ulcers."

Today they plan to take the “tour” around PAP and see if they can get some photographs of the damage - they’ve been told it is not officially sanctioned but they realize people are interested so they have a group of drivers that will take 4-5 people on a safe route to photograph.

Will keep you all posted.

Sarah Palin: "RELOAD!" - UPDATE!

The call

sp reload 2

The targets

targets

Here is the enlarged picture of the crosshair which Palin used in this graphic:

palinmap crosshairs

The words and the rifle scopes used on the map say a lot about "violence is not the answer."

Sarah Palin may not be a serious, viable candidate for anything, but her coded words and inflammatory rhetoric are very dangerous. She derailed the debate on the HCR with her "death panels", divided the country with her "Real Americans" speech and now appears to be calling for an armed retaliation against elected representatives of the people.

Rachel Maddow reports on violence that has already erupted:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

This is frightening. It started with bricks, now they're cleaning their rifles, ready to reload.

The sight of blood seems to excite Sarah Palin, be it the blood of wolves, bears, moose or caribou.

She has moved to human targets... Sarah Palin needs to stop, sit down and shut up.

Another violent character HERE.

UPDATE (by Patrick):

It is safe to say that Sarah Palin is now in serious trouble because of her irresponsible actions which we described in this post.

Sarah Palin has taken one step too far.
