Sarah Palin goes on Greta and Hannity and grossly distorts the details of Willow's facebook insults, once again claims victimhood for the whole family

Sarah Palin causes outrage through unwarranted and unjustified attacks on a daily basis. It seems that Palin's only effective method of getting attention is to make outrageous statements, as she has not much else to say. However, mixing up North and South Korea is worth another headline, congratulations, Sarah!

Apparently Michelle Obama has also become a favorite target for the Quitter from Alaska who currently seems to be mad at anyone who doesn't share her idealistic vision of a nineteenth-century America, as described in "America by Heart": A country "as pure as snow" - abortion was illegal, healthcare insurance was unheard of and God was everywhere. (In addition, people were still allowed to serve cookies.) Simplistic views from a simpleton for simpletons.

Today I would like to highlight a fact which has not received enough attention in the media: The fact that Palin distorts the details of the recent "Willow-facebook-scandal" by presenting the real events in a bizarre way and declaring Willow to be a victim. She apparently believes that no-one will check her claims and accusations. She might be right in general! But here at Palingates, we get a real kick out of fact-checking Sarah Palin, ;-)

Sarah was on Greta Van Susteren's show on November 23 and gave her view of the situation:

The transcript can be found HERE.

An excerpt:

PALIN: But let me -- let me add this, though. When we talk about Willow, when we talk about Piper and watching some of their innocence and some of their naive belief that there's justice in society today, for them to see what shots are taken at their family and for them to have no defense -- look what happened to Willow the other day. Somebody had been blogging very, very negative things about the family, and Willow, finally, she'd had it up to here and she finally responded. Unfortunately, she used a bad word when she responded. And that became national news, Greta, her response, not the hatred, not the threats coming her way, but her response. So Willow's saying, Well, why can't I defend my family, Mom? That's injust. Why is that taken away from me? And I had to remind her we need to know how to pick our battles.

My kids are teaching me more than maybe I'm able to teach them in what battles to pick, by the way. And let me give you a quick sample of that, Greta -- quick example of that is Bristol having gone through "Dancing With the Stars." Bristol said, Mom, I'm going to be criticized anyway, I might as well dance. I'm, like, Right on! That's something that Mama and Daddy and everybody else can live with, too. We're going to get criticized, so might as well anyway do what we believe is the right thing to do for this country.

VAN SUSTEREN: You know, in that reference you made about Willow and her -- her reacting back at the -- at the -- at the postings, I actually sort of had a little different thought about it. I thought that -- you know, that we adults had become -- had so let ourselves degrade that we made it safe or OK for young people to act irresponsible and say -- you know, for this person to post nasty things about your family. I mean, it's, like, there are no consequences. And your child reacted back. I mean, they are basically reflecting upon what they are seeing us adults do in many ways. And it's not -- you know, that's not a pretty picture.

PALIN: Yes. You're right. But take that one step further. And my fault being for Willow to think that it was OK to use such a derogatory term in response, in defense of her family. But that wasn't cool. That wasn't right. She learned a lesson. I learned a lesson through that. And it makes me have to, you know, kind of guard my conversation a little bit more around my kids so that they won't think that it's OK to come back swinging like that.

On the other hand, you know, little Willow -- I wouldn't want to be messing with her as somebody's calling her little brother bad names, and you know, kind of doing all that they can to discredit the family. You know, I kind of don't blame her for wanting to come out swinging, but just not to use a bad word when she does it.

(...)

PALIN: Right. This is what I was trying to tell Willow last week. Honey, there's -- it's not just. There is injustice in our society and because man has fallen and there's that acceptance of this spewing of hatred and the attacking of the kids. It's a very sad thing, and that is the injustice that I was trying to teach Willow. But now it becomes a matter of, OK, so how do we react to those circumstances that are injust?

And for Willow, what she has to learn is picking her battles, knowing how it is that she can react. But beyond that, OK, adults, now it's our turn to debate this and to figure what is acceptable and what is not. And why are some politicians' kids targets and others, heaven forbid, you don't touch their kids, their background? Why is -- well, it's obvious. If you're a conservative, you're going to get clobbered. If you're a female conservative with children, you're going to get clobbered.

VAN SUSTEREN: Then -- well -- you know what -- I mean, I've seen some -- (INAUDIBLE) I saw Chelsea Clinton. You know, she got knocked around pretty badly when her parents first came to town. So she got -- she got some of it, too. But the thing that's most distressing is that people will laugh and go along when it's a political opponent, what's done. But they're scandalized if it happens to someone with whom they agree, instead of having -- you know, instead of taking the sort of moral right position, saying it shouldn't happen to any of these children and we shouldn't be doing any of this...

PALIN: True.

VAN SUSTEREN: ... it's, you know, which -- which side are you on? You know, shirts or skins, basically.

PALIN: Right. You're right. And Greta, here's the deal, too. When it comes to, like, me, I've already let people know, maybe unfortunately, what's my Achilles heel? It's you touch my kids and this mama grizzly is going to rise up, and I'm going to react sometimes in a caustic way, and that's going to get the left all wee-weed up and I'm going to give them what they wanted.
Now, unfortunately, that's the position that I have put myself in, in the last couple of years. So I need to, as my skin gets a little -- my skin gets a little bit thicker, I need to not react as much as human nature within a mama wants to react. But I do want -- as you're suggesting, I want the discussion to be about, Is it acceptable or is it not to come after the children? I do not believe that it's acceptable, whether you're a Democrat or a Republican. I think it's pathetic. I think it's immature and unprofessional.
+++

In addition, Sarah Palin was interviewed by Sean Hannity on November 22, 2010, and had more accusations (at the 6:10 mark of the interview):

"People probably think that my greatest frustration is the lies that are told in the tabloids and on hateful blogs full of anonymous sources about my family…and there are constant everyday lies that we have to read that are out there in the public. But my family and I…thick skin…we can take it, you know…we can take what the haters say despite the fact that there’s injustice in the situation. I mean, look at the other day…Willow, finally, my 16 year old…she had had it up to here with somebody saying very very hateful things about the family and saying mean things about her little brother Trig and Willow finally responded and she used a bad word when she responded in defense of her family. And her response became national news, even hard news copy it turned into, so that’s ridiculous and I had to explain to her…Willow, there is no justice here but you have to just zip your lip and let’s move forward."
+++

So, Sarah Palin, wait a moment. Somebody "blogged very, very negative things about the family", and Willow "had it up to here" and "finally responded?"

Somebody said "very very hateful things about the family" and "mean things about Willow's little brother Trig?"

No, Sarah, that is NOT what happened. In fact, this is a complete invention!

Sarah, can you at least TRY to make a statement which is not a complete distortion of the inconvenient facts? Your family members were NOT victims in this incident.

What happened is the following:

A teenager called "Tre" wrote the following sentence on his own facebook:

"Sarah Palin's Alaska, is failing soo hard right now."

There is nothing wrong with this statement. Tre commented about Sarah Palin's reality show, not about her family. It's called freedom of speech. Sarah Palin is being paid about $ 2 million for her laughable reality show and is therefore open for criticism.

In this statement, Tre DOES NOT:

a) Say "very, very negative things" about Palin's family
b) call Willow's "little brother bad names"
c) say "mean things" about Trig
c) and Tre is also NOT a blogger, but just wrote one sentence on his own facebook page.

But Sarah Palin, the person who wants to become the most powerful person of America and of the world doesn't understand that, and most likely doesn't even care, because the real version of events doesn't show Willow and Bristol in a good light.

This whole incident also has nothing do with "justice in society"...or has it?

Let's take a further look at the details of this incident:

After Tre wrote this sentence, it was not Willow who responded, but Bristol. Unfortunately, this facebook conversation has been misreported in the media right from the start, despite the fact that TMZ made the full transcript available immediately when they published their story.

It was not a "Willow incident" - it was a "Bristol and Willow" incident, and Bristol is not a "little" teenager any more, but is twenty-years-old, appears on national TV-shows and gives speeches. So Bristol should have some manners. But the facebook conversation shows that this is not the case.

It was Bristol, not Willow who immediately responded to Tre and insulted him:

"You are running your mouth just to talk shit.."

Tre answered:

"hahahahaha, the show fails I think, just opinion, but so do other people."

That's a fair comment, is it not? Tre is not trashing the family or individual family members, he simply voices his opinion about a TV-show.

What the follows is a barrage of ugly insults from Bristol and Willow - see the full transcript HERE.

Excerpts:

Bristol - Willow 1

Bristol - Willow 2

Bristol - Willow 3

Bristol - Willow 4

Bristol - Willow 5

Bristol - Willow 6

Bristol - Willow 7

Bristol - Willow 8

Bristol - Willow 9

Bristol - Willow 10

Bristol - Willow 11

Bristol - Willow 12

So, Willow and Bristol are not victims here, it's not a case of "injustice." Such a claim by Sarah Palin is pure fantasy. The whole Palin family seems to develop into a bunch of bullies - just like Todd, who was caught on tape.

Willow and Bristol also didn't just write "a bad word." They reacted with a whole, unwarranted barrage of insults.

As far as "justice in society" is concerned, it's Tre who receives an unjust treatment, not Bristol and Willow.

Thankfully, through the publication of the screenshots, the world got the see another glimpse of the real face of the Palin family.

Also, what does Sarah Palin mean by the following statement:

"And it makes me have to, you know, kind of guard my conversation a little bit more around my kids so that they won't think that it's OK to come back swinging like that."

Does that mean that Sarah Palin herself uses these insulting terms at home as well?

Another bizarre statement by Sarah:

"My kids are teaching me more than maybe I'm able to teach them in what battles to pick, by the way."

So, the future President of the USA is taught by her rowdy kids which battles to pick. The same kids who are apparently utterly useless in this respect?

As far as I can see right now, there is only one solution:

Get in the Supernanny for Willow, Bristol and Sarah and teach them manners! Unfortunately, the Supernanny will have to start from scratch.

super nanny

How the British view Sarah Palin - PLUS: Sarah Palin confirms again she won't talk to journalists who have a "bias"

By Regina

I managed to record the podcast of a discussion about Sarah Palin's presidential aspirations on Jeremy Vine's program on BBC Radio 2 the other day. Here is a shorter version, as the original ran into nearly 30 minutes:

The British don't appear to have a very good opinion of Sarah Palin, apart from Nadine Dorries, who's not a stranger to funny business herself:

In January 2010, it was revealed that Dorries was being investigated by John Lyon, the parliamentary commissioner for standards, regarding her claim for second home expenses and that it was expected that a number of neighbours from her constituency were preparing to give evidence against her. It was also revealed that Dorries had claimed £20,000 in office expenses for work undertaken by a media relations and public affairs company.

On May 9th 2010, two days after regaining her Mid Bedfordshire constituency, the The Sunday Times revealed that Dorries was facing the first expenses claims complaint of the new parliament. It was reported that she had claimed around £10,000 for an annual report in 2007 on her performance as an MP, but that her former Commons researcher had never seen the report or worked on it. Dorries insisted that she had indeed published the report, placing a photograph of it on her blog. She subsequently told the Biggleswade Advertiser that the report was never printed and a credit note issued with refund on September 13th 2008.

A couple of people were mentioned in the e-mails sent into the program: Kerry Katona and Davina McCall. So as not to let the references go unnoticed by American readers, here's a brief description of the two lovely ladies:

Kerry Katona used to be in a girl band (Atomic Kitten) and married a boy from a boy band (Brian McFadden, of Westlife). She won "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here," divorced Brian and quickly unravelled , drinking too much and taking too many drugs. She's still regular tabloid fodder in the UK.

Davina McCall
is the hyperactive presenter of Big Brother. She's not as colourful as Kerry Katona, but is generally regarded as a pain in the neck and her chat show on BBC was axed due to very poor ratings.

It's refreshing to hear that at least the British didn't fall for Sarah Palin's "charms." Only two pro-Palin opinions from the public were presented on air, but they were more anti-Obama than actually pro-Palin and Jeremy Vine pointed that out when he read them.

Sarah Palin's Alaska has not been inflicted on the British yet, but if it does, I guess that Kerry and Davina's standing would shoot up considerably in the viewing public's estimation...

By Patrick:

Many thanks to Regina for this post! I also would like to point that that especially the UK Guardian has been following the events of the previous days very closely. The British journalist Ewen MacAskill wrote about Sarah Palin's attacks on Barack Obama in "America by Heart" ("Sarah Palin's attacks on Barack Obama get personal in new book"), and the American journalist Amanda Marcotte wrote in the Guardian a commentary about the content of Palin's new book ("Sarah Palin's heartland Americans"). Both articles linked to Palingates.

There is so much happening surrounding Sarah Palin at the moment, it's simply impossible to make a separate post for each subject. Sarah Palin was yesterday on Hannity, and she confirmed again that she won't talk to journalists in the future who have a "bias." Palin still hasn't overcome her massive grudge against Katie Couric, and she probably never will. The wannabe President of the USA is still angry as hell that she couldn't answer Katie Couric's friendly softball-questions.

It's a huge tragedy that the USA is now being tormented by a woman who combines delusions of grandeur with a severe mental disorder and an unrestrained desire to punish her enemies. It's going to get much worse, as Palin has a good chance of winning the Republican nomination. No serious criticism towards Sarah Palin from other Republican contenders is to be expected, because that would be "sexist", wouldn't it? The insanity will continue.

Palingates Weekly Roundup - November 15 to November 21

By Blueberry Tart

And what a week it was!

Despite producer Mark Burnett’s protestations to the contrary, Sarah admits that her TV series is laced with political messages. So this is an 8-episode, primetime political commercial, for which Palin was paid? I am shocked, shocked, I tell you! The post includes several oldies-but-goodies, including the “gotcha” interviews by the evil Katie Couric and the fearsome Charlie Gibson. Most remarkable is that Sarah said something that I actually agree with, and I urge the MSM to consider this as Sarah’s personal invitation to fully vet her: “… that ultimately harms our republic when a candidate isn’t…vetted by the media, that cornerstone of our democracy… things have got to change for the better in the state of journalism. Otherwise, you know, it could be part of a demise of our democracy if that cornerstone erodes." So, MSM, you have your marching orders from Sarah herself: vet her.

Bonus clip: Bristol claims that her life was perfect until she got together with Levi, and that she only slept with one guy. That is a lie; she aptly described herself a “slut” (her word) when she was 16 years old and sleeping with at least 2-3 guys; she was also “a stoner.” Bristol ended a recent speech saying, “I just want girls to know that abstinence is a realistic choice.” Yet last year, she told Greta van Susteren that abstinence is “not realistic at all.”

Wow! Patrick got the worldwide scoop on Sarah Palin’s new book, America by Heart, “…Sarah Palin's ‘Mein Kampf.’” Rather than inspiring stories, the book is full of standard Palin fare: self-righteousness, vindictiveness, criticism and projection. Let’s see, where to begin… hmm… Levi! Levi is an easy target, as Sarah criticizes him, in violation of Bristol’s custody order. She also criticizes American Idol contestants (jab at Scott Brown?) as “victims of the cult of self-esteem,” pursuing the limelight despite being “talent-deprived.” What poetic justice that this excerpt was released on the very day that Bristol Palin, who cannot dance, was voted into the finals of DWTS! The post elicited a “lawyer letter” from Harper Collins, telling Patrick to remove pages he published. Funny how other Palingates posts, notably those stating conclusively that Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy with Trig, elicited no response whatsoever from Palin’s legal team. Why? Because it is true, and they know it. Palingates got MANY links and mentions by other blogs and was mentioned widely by the MSM. BRAVO!

More on the book, plus a Good Morning America clip mentions Palingates – kudos, Patrick! This post focuses on Sarah’s claim that “the charge of racism is leveled at patriotic Americans” to stifle discussion. In a remarkable chain of weakly linked, unsubstantiated assumptions, she claims that President Obama “seems to believe” that America is fundamentally unequal and unjust, and that “certainly Michelle Obama expressed this view.” She then assumes this must be because they listened to fiery sermons by Reverend (and U.S. Marine veteran) Jeremiah Wright. She brings AG Holder’s comment about America’s inability to confront racism into this train-wreck of thought. She even stoops to using Malia Obama’s question, “did you plug the hole yet, daddy?” to demean the President. I shall resist the temptation to throw in some snark here about hole-plugging. ;-)

This post picked up on some good ideas from the comments: When she mentions Reverend Wright, Palingates will embed the Pastor Muthee video. When she claims that Michelle Obama is unpatriotic, we’ll highlight Sarah and Todd’s affiliation with the Alaskan Independence Party, a secessionist group with close ties to extreme right-wing militias. When she exploits the gulf oil spill, let’s play the tape of O’Reilly’s interview where she said the Norwegians could build a dike…

Several readers noted that Sarah offers a great case study in psychological projection. Simply take Sarah’s criticisms and insert the names of the people she is subliminally describing, and suddenly things make so much more sense. For example: “And how unsurprising coming from a [woman] who is [herself] one of the leading exemplars of the new culture of self-esteem." Or: "In fact, we [are] creating a generation of entitled little whiners…[Like Bristol,] these young people feel entitled to jobs and salaries they haven't earned. [Like Bristol,] they have unrealistic views of their own capabilities. [Like Bristol,] they don't take criticism well, and they demand lots of attention and guidance from their employers."

Palin’s next target is Hollywood. Palin disparages movies that show the ugly, unjust, inhumane side of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She opines that produding these films while the wars are occurring undermines the war effort. She uses names of Hollywood stars who enlisted in the military at the height of their stardom to make her point; we’ve already seen her exploit Pat Tillman’s name in a similar way. Her simplistic notion is that there is no such thing as an unjust war or a war fought for profit; soldiers’ mothers wouldn’t let that occur. Tell that to Mary Tillman, Cindy Sheehan and countless other mothers of soldiers killed or wounded in action. Patrick reminds us that many pro-war films are propaganda. As counterpoint, he recalls the epic “All Quiet on The Western Front.” Sarah reminds me of the character Kantorek, who gives speeches about the glory of serving the Homeland in wartime. But as the film painfully shows, war is hell on earth.

The post includes one of the “inspirational” quotes that we had heard would be in the book. This one is Sarah’s “favorite” part of a Toby Keith song, revealing her utterly simplistic, jingoistic notion of America’s role in the world: And you'll be sorry that you messed with The U S of A 'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass It's the American way. How uplifting. This woman wants to be Commander-in-Chief.

Please consider voting for Palingates for “Best Political Blog” if you haven’t already done so; thanks!

Comments of the Week

(Commenters, linkers and tweeters were in overdrive this week! Welcome to many new readers/posters!)

I am going to start out of order, with this response from Patrick to a compliment about his/RPK’s tremendous work on Palingates: Thank you! We do what we can. It took us a lot of time to be where we are now. However, the key is persistence. If you fight against a truly evil and dangerous person like Sarah Palin, you have to be determined and have to keep up the pressure…You need to build up a community and a network of sources and media contacts. All this takes a long time, and as an anonymous blogger, it's not easy to establish trust. It takes time. So I am grateful and happy about what is happening now, and I DO hope that we will inspire other people as well…

Many ‘Gaters enjoyed hearing from Bill (beardog321): This lady is a fraud, but the under and less educated amongst us have been bamboozled by all the smoke and mirrors and faux charm and sexuality. I have met evil, vindictive, and self absorbed women (And men too.) like Palin, but her handlers have raised it to a national art form. [Check out the update of mxm’s guest post]

Mrs TBB wrote brilliant new words for “I Dreamed a Dream”; here is the first verse:

I dreamed a dream when months went by / And we heard naught from $arah Palin
I dreamed her crowds all went bye-bye / And every poll found $arah trailin'…

Psalm73: This PAC information should raise warning flags to even the most loyal Sarah followers. They don't seem to have the good sense to ask why she spends so much on consulting and speechwriting, but never delivers a new speech or even a new frickin' joke… Wikipedia…: A cult of personality arises when an individual uses mass media, propaganda, or other methods to create an idealized and heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.

Marvinmm: …even if every single expense was judged to be on the up-and-up, how can anyone take this woman seriously as a fiscal conservative? She rails and rails against democratic wasteful spending when she manages her own organization as if it were a personal slush fund…

Wheresmyjammies: There sure are a lot of people milking that Sarah Palin gravy train. I don't think she is getting her money's worth. She still doesn't sound any smarter. She doesn't look any more attractive. Her screech is getting worse. Her behavior is more erratic. Her family is still dysfunctional. And her unapproval ratings are at an all time high. Sorry Sarah, but I think that God is just not that into you.

Later: How can such a childish, immature mind exist in a middle age body?

Virginiavoter: On the theme of Follow the Money....This post clearly shows the line between SarahPAC, and for profit " Sarah Palin, Inc" is blurred, if not virtually non-existent…

Lilylake has Sarah figured out: Remember, everything she says; think: THE OPPOSITE

Mrsgunka led a brave band of intrepid bloggers to chronicle episode 1 of “Sarah Palin’s fake Alaska” – very funny!

Daisydem: I feel like this is the Twilight Zone and she is the producer.

Lilybart: Her schizo dressing style is an indicator of mental illness, so not just petty gossip, to me. If Hillary showed up somewhere in purple suede boots and along black velvet goth coat one day, heels in the snow and a Mao hat on the next, I would be very concerned!!

A few days later: Hubby said that DWTS and the faggot remarks are cutting through because they are not political issues. They cut through partisan ideology to bad parenting, which everyone can recognize and cheating, which no one likes.

JCos: I bet watching old episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians will feel like watching Masterpiece Theater now.

Linda1961: "Sarah narrates while wearing both a cross pendant AND an American flag." Sinclair Lewis was a bit off, he said "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." It seems that it came wearing a cross pendant and wearing a flag pin (both made in China). Good one later: If I'm wrong and $P is elected POTUS in 2012, I'm going to be praying constantly that the Mayans were right.

Ella: Napolitano asked scarah if there was a political message in the "mama grizzly" frame - they showed the clip where sp says mama bear trains her cubs and says "no one else is going to do it FOR YOU." Palin smirks, and proudly BRAGS that you will see MANY political messages throughout the series. Meanwhile, TLC insists it is NOT political at all. Busted scarah.

TruthRocks: "Grandma, why did it take so long for the American citizens to figure out that Sarah Palin was a very sick lady and needed to be institutionalized?”

Disqusux: The original title of this book was "All the Crap That Didn't Fit into the First Book".

Mocha: It was fantastic this morning to open my Columbus Dispatch and see the AP story as told by Bloomberg News and the word " Palingates" right there in my hometown newspaper. Beyond awesome. Great work Patrick and just so excited to see the work of the blog come to the forefront.

There were many good comments about Willow and Bristol’s foul-mouthed diatribe on Facebook. [BBT: I have to wonder whether, between SP’s nasty comments about talent-less contestants on American Idol and how the judges feed their delusions, and the latest proof that Bristol is just another crude diva, DWTS may soon decide that their brand has been tarnished enough by the Palins.]

Maelewis: The freedom of the press is under assault from within, not from Iraq or Afghanistan. Sarah is treated to soft ball interviews. The media reports her twitters and face book posts as if she gave an actual press conference…She remains unaccountable… ABC is part of the media, and…Palinbots [brag] that they voted hundreds of times for Bristol… TLC is part of the media, and they…air political ads in the guise of an hour reality show for Sarah. It's all about ratings, not the truth…

465janedoeseeker: The two concepts – military, and freedom of speech – are completely separate, despite Palin's incessant conflating of the two. The courts enforce freedom of speech, not the military. In fact, the military can even impose a chilling factor on our freedom of speech, as has been the case during periods of political protest. If someone really wanted to shout, "dontcha just love your freedoms?" in sincerity and truth, they would be holding up a copy of the Constitution, not speaking (and chest-thumping) about military invasions in other countries.

GrannyJ: Trying to make sense of what they do makes me feel like Alice trying to make sense of the Mad Hatter.

Anja: This book needs to be called "My Ugly Heart", not "America by Heart". Since this woman first came onto the national scene, she has spewed hate and vitriol. I can't believe that she has gotten away with it for so long. Now her daughters are at it. Ugly Hearts, all of them.

BinCo: That last paragraph describes her perfectly. Entitled little whiner, unrealistic view of her own capabilities, undeserved salary and job, doesn't take criticism well and needs lots of attention… She sounds like Archie Bunker criticizing those youngsters!

PUAAN: As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any commentary in the blogosphere about the fact that Palingates received the cease and desist letter from Harper Collins, yet other sites which posted the same pages did not. I would love to see more on THAT story...

Thank you, Louie! Anyways, me a few million other american's were wondering if daddy could plug one more hole, can you guess which one?

Anne_123 started listing all Sarah’s insults – a new book unto itself!

Maelewis: When Sarah wrote about people who were praised all their lives so that they grew up with a sense of entitlement, while lacking in talent, whining about not winning, she described herself perfectly. Nothing will ever be Sarah's fault; she takes no responsibility for any of her actions. She is the perpetual victim, whenever she perceives criticism…Mae later had an excellent post on war films.

Kdusmdd thought “Heart” in the title must be an anagram, and dusty17 ran with it: Like This?
H=Hate
E=Envy
A=Angry
R-Racist
T=Terror

ApparentReality: Mix up the letters in 'heart', and you have "America by Hater"

Cheeriogirl is right (as usual): You know, the "teen activist" title bothers me. I've never heard of any one else referred to by that title. Just like everything else in Palinlandia, it was created just for Sarah, to make Bristol the Pistol's "situation" more acceptable to the far right minions of the GOP. More smoke, more mirrors.

BluedogAK: Good God. What's the title of her next book going to be, "America by a Tart: Reflections on Shit I'm Still Pissed About"? [BBT: let’s keep tarts out of this!]

Aspiecelia: …How strange to hear her talk about contestants on some TV show, putting them down for lack of talent while her talentless daughter is cheating her way through another show.

Sunnyjane lists the course offerings for Sarah U: Classes would consist of "How to Break the Law and Get Off Scott Free," "Grifting for Fun and Profit," "Not Worrying About How Untalented You Are, Your Parents Will Get You a Gig," "How to Get Even With All the People You Hate," "Constructing Stupid Fences With Secret Peep Holes," "Making a Good Living By Getting Pregnant and Being Unwed at Seventeen," etc. And this about the book title: It was a misunderstanding by the publisher. The correct title was: America by Heartless, Manifestations of Hate, Hypocrisy and Hubris.

Dsmyre: Todd on Sarah Palin's Alaska saying his next-door neighbor was writing a hit piece on Sarah. And here's Sarah writing a hit piece of her own... on everybody.

Casey’s Mom: BTW, it's very hard to see in the photos, but the REAL sub-title of this "book" is ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!

Just Ask: I'm not sure who she thinks she's kidding here. She's the Snooki of politics…

Sick of Sarah: Todd, to prove he loves America far more than Michelle Obama, joined and was a member of the Alaskan INDEPENDENCE Party. Nothing says "Love of Country" more than secession.

Peacepax: Palingates is not here to argue, just to expose the truth, because we love our freedom.

CaliGirl22: Palin's time tested truths are: teeth whitener, tanning bed/cream, black push up bra, red CFME pumps, bumpit, short skirts and a disabled grandson.

LouieCypher: I'm calling it "America by Louie" by Louie Cypher, Here's a little sample from a chapter called "Look at all the great shit I did" Then there was the time I cured cancer, and you would have heard about too if it wasn't for Obama, Obamacare, and Eddie Russle, Eddie made me eat dirt in like the second grade and it was me who had to endure this, after I called him a stinky face.

((((((♥♥♥)))))) from Palingaters to mr&mrsgunka.

Sondra Tompkins: Narcissists feed off of love and hate. Indifference is the way to starve them.

Later: A lot of folks seem to misunderstand the purpose of a military, including Sarah. It is to DEFEND a country, not invade others for seemingly pointless reasons. I served in the military with no regrets. But I am against pointless wars. I don't think we should go around invading other countries…

Ennealogic: Talking heads everywhere, all spectrums, are weighing in on Palin's "recycled racism" as spit out there on the pages of her latest screed. AND YOU KNOW it would not be there now, today, were it not for our incredible blog hosts.

NebraskaNative found that the phrase “confidence and brio” was used in the Christian Science Monitor May 10, 2010 article about Lena Horne.

Dusty17 has a moving comment about her husband’s return from Vietnam to a hostile reception by Alaskans. Dusty concludes with: She is not a leader, she is a divider… She is a threat to our nation's security as IMO she would love to start the biggest race riot this country has ever seen.

Midnightcajun: One can be FOR our soldiers and AGAINST a stupid, unethical war. The truth is that Sarah doesn't give a flying F about our soldiers; she's selling the myth of American exceptionalism, and in that myth, America can do no wrong. She doesn't care how many thousands of young men die or are maimed in order to perpetuate that myth

Ivyfree: Being against a stupid, unethical war IS being for our soldiers. If you ask somebody to kill, or to die, for a cause, it ought to be a damn good cause.

Forgetmyname reported on an interview with Bristol, who said that “hate fires me up” and “hate fuels me.” BBT: Fascinating admission; apparently it’s genetic.

Madam Deal and Emily Peacock quoted several beautiful poems on the toll of war, and Me Guest had lyrics on how most of today’s politicians and captains of industry do not put themselves or their children at risk in war. “If there was honour in the battle... there'd be princes in the line.”

Ginger50 posted a sad, powerful piece on homeless teenagers in Wasilla, AK. Unfortunately, this story will not be shown on “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.”

Jenny B: I was a Navy wife for 19 years. I kept the home fires burning through 6 cruises so I think I qualify as part of the military. So I can tell you that I find SP's comments insulting! What has she done to make sacrifices for her country? Did she spent 50% of her life away from her loved ones? Did she have to worry about her spouse who was half way across the world flying off an aircraft carrier? Did she have to raise her children alone most of the time? Yet in her mind, I am not a patriot because I don't agree with her!

BBT says: There are many more comments, but I HAVE to stop here or I’ll have a book of my own! Good stuff, Palingaters!

The last word this week goes to Jim: While Bush was President you couldn't utter a single bad thing about him because you were enabling the enemy by being critical about the Commander in Chief. Yet the far right led by Palin now believe it's patriotic to be critical towards Obama, their disrespect bordering on sedition… I served 23 years and I'm tired of being labeled as being unpatriotic because I don't think we should be occupying two countries, countries that didn't attack us in any way shape or form. Sarah Palin's Alaska - Episode 2 - A reader's review

Guest post by Leadfoot_LA and her daughter Bella, seven-years-old

As we did last week, 7-year-old Bella and I sat through Sarah Palin's Alaska so that you didn't have to subject yourselves to it. Bella isn't into it tonight, and sits next to me playing with dolls. But I'm sure she'll chime in.

We open this week's episode of Sarah Palin's Campaign Show with the same cheesy theme song and Sarah's children still credited in order of preference (Piper, Bristol, Willow, Tack, Trig, Tripp). As we've come to expect, it is immediately about Sarah, not Alaska. Sarah explains that her day starts at 4:00 am because her "professional work is on east coast time," so she has to check emails and get ready for interviews. She drives a silver Toyota Highlander to a gym to take a workout class. Why? Because "the best day to start your day is to be sweaty and a little bit hurtin." She is wearing GOP socks. I wish I was joking. She grew up very competitive, and that is the way she is raising her kids.

Todd, or as Sarah calls him, "Taahd," takes Sarah and Bristol to the Grouse Ridge shooting range. Either Todd is driving Bristol's truck, or they have the exact same black Dodge Ram. They wanted to "remind Bristol what it is like to pull the trigger." Wait, WHAT?! They pile out of the truck while Sarah says Piper's baby shower was held at this very shooting range and she "loves to tell that story because it gets the liberals all wee-wee'd up." Nope! Not a political show AT ALL.

Oh look, Bristol is skinny! Her head is still very large, but she looks fresh and pretty. She has no reaction whatsoever to Sarah talking about "the liberals." Sarah says the last couple of years have been "tough for Bristol" because "so often what she does winds up in the tabloids because of someone she had been associated with." Who, YOU, Sarah?! Ugh.

Sarah and Todd want to "show her what really matters in life," which apparently, is shooting. Sarah says "I gotta practice the bird, before I give you the bird." I don't even know what that means. Todd teases her by not pulling when she says pull. Bristol laughs at her because she misses and Sarah says, "I didn't see it, I thought it was a mosquito." Bella finally perks up and says, "but it's big and orange!" Exactly. Sarah lies, I tell her.

Good lord, we are only 6 minutes in. Now it's Todd's turn. He is, of course, amazing at shootin' just like he is at everything. Bristol's turn! She has obviously never shot a gun before because she asks if it is going to hurt. Sarah says Bristol is left handed, like most presidents. Sarah criticizes her shooting skills and tells her she can't stop until she gets one. Bristol tells her to "take her prom hair, and go back home." Haha - sassy! Sarah tells her to pay attention to the dots on the gun, and Todd says, "no, don't worry about that." Sarah says, "we are not very good teachers." Wow...she finally said something true!

Sarah tells her "don't retreat, just reload." Bristol, astonishingly, does not turn the gun on her mother. She finally hits a "bird" and we all get to leave the shooting range.

Sarah Palin's Alaska Map Jezebel

There's Trig! And he's wearing socks! Sarah and Todd drop him off at James & Faye Palin's house for a few days. For the first time ever, I see Trig smile at Sarah, and she kisses him goodbye.

Sarah, Todd, Tripp and the three girls head off on a fishing trip. They can take Tripp but not Trig?! How mean! What is with this family dressing so inappropriately for the weather? Piper is wearing shorts and a t-shirt, while everyone else is bundled up in pants, shorts, and fleeces. They hop into the RV and head for Homer to fish for halibut. Sarah says they are heading down "just for the Halibut." Ok, I laughed at her joke.

Inside the RV, Tripp keeps saying "papa." Awww. :-( Willow asks Sarah if she can have a new car, since they bought Bristol a Jetta. Sarah says Willow's in a "lazy stage" right now. NONE of the 4 kids are wearing a seat belt. Sarah says Piper is an "awesome, awesome kid." The girls talk about how they don't look alike. Willow says Bristol has no chin. Bristol says Willow has big bushy eyebrows and Willow says, "yah right! I just got them waxed!!" Bristol says Piper has big teeth. Sarah says, "that's enough of the conversation about the physical attributes." Probably wants to nip it in the bud before they start talking about Track and how he doesn't look like any of them.

Willow and Piper start kicking each other and screaming. Sarah doesn't even look up from her blackberry. They arrive in Homer and Sarah says it's so challenging to be out in public with her "fame." But she says it has been more difficult for Bristol. Sarah is wearing her Castro hat. She says Tripp "has a booger" and starts poking at his face, literally seconds after she tells Willow not to be self conscious.

They visit a memorial to those who have been lost at sea. Sarah says she has "friends and family who have been lost" and she likes the sobering reminder that "Mother Nature wins." They cook hot dogs over the fire and Sarah wonders what Tripp will call her when he starts talking, because it will be strange to be called Grandma. Sarah says she has a lesson for each of them. Todd's is "today is the first day of the rest of your life." Willow's is, "the sun will come out tomorrow." Bristol's is "there are plenty of fish in the sea." First of all, those are cliches we all learn in like 1st grade. She has nothing more insightful that that? Second, will she EVER get over Levi? Geesh!

Cartoon

We return from commercial to a message that says, "this program contains footage that may be disturbing to some viewers." Presumably they are referring to the fish guts. Couldn't be anything else, right?

Out on the halibut fishing boat, Bristol's job is to club the halibut so they don't flop around and bruise their meat. Sarah keeps giving her advice and Bristol says, "Mom, no talking." I like Bristol tonight. She says it feels "awesome gettin' some aggression out" while she's clubbing the fish. Sarah says she "wonders what she is picturing" while she is doing it. I let out a groan. Bella asks what is wrong. I say nothing, and that I promise to never hold a life-long grudge against one of her high school sweethearts.

Oh, well how about that! Bristol is wearing the camouflage hoodie that we saw in the "worst governor ever" video. I could have sworn that was Willow, but I guess it was Bristol after all.

Sarah and Todd go kayaking for some "rare alone time" and she tells the guide that he looks like Jesus, so they "must be in good hands." They see sea otters and eagles. Sarah tells the guide that he has a "cool little granola life goin' on." Rude! She says that she and Todd are closer than ever after everything they've gone through the past two years. They decide to race the kayaks. Sarah says they are competitive about everything, and can't ever just enjoy the peace and serenity. Of course, Captain America wins the race.

The next day they go to a fish processing plant and work on the "slime line." Sarah says she loves the smell because it "smells like fishin' money." They put the fish into a guillotine and I yell out "ewwwww." Bella says, "she is tougher than you are." I say I would rather be smart than tough.

Sarah and Bristol get hosed off and Sarah says it is Alaska's version of the spray tan, and that they don't need spray tans. UMMM, Sarah, you charged the people of Alaska for your freaking tanning bed in the governor's mansion!!

Next they compete on who can cook the best tasting fish. Todd wins again. Sarah says this trip is exactly what Bristol needed. It's the end of this episode -- exactly what I needed.

Coming up on Episode 3....it's Track!

Many thanks again to Leadfoot and her daugher Bella!

We look forward to the next part, in order to inject some sanity and humor into "It's Sarah, Me, Alaska."

Our reader sleuth again captured a big portion of the live chat which was going on at Palingates during the program, it can be downloaded HERE.

I looked around on the internet for further reviews of the second part of Sarah's show, and discovered that the Houston Chronicle has an interesting concept: They have "Team Blue" and "Team Red", so in order to be insanely fair and balanced, they have one review from a conservative perspective and one review from a liberal perspective. Thank God that the USA has not an established "multi-party system", or they would have to publish maybe five reviews! ;-)

Here are the reviews from the Houston Chronicle:

So we look forward to having more fun next week!

Kathleen said in the comments that "clubbing with Bristol" now has a completely different meaning. ;-)

Sarah Palin's next grand slam: Hollywood filmmakers "disparage the war effort", "trash what the troops fight for", show "reflexive anti-Americanism"

+++UPDATE+++

We have a new TV report, from CBS - see our previous posts regarding "America by Heart" with the topics:

Here is the report from CBS:

Multisource political news, world news, and entertainment news analysis by Newsy.com

+++

Our new post:

Sarah Palin has had a somewhat "love and hate" relationship with Hollywood: One day she would complain because filmmakers were allegedly "mocking her family" (for example in the "Family Guy" affair"), the next day she would embrace Hollywood by offering herself as a commodity in a reality show, by appearing on Leno and of course by famously cheering her daughter on during her appearances with DWTS.

Her "love" for Hollywood seems to have prevailed during the last months into a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship. Therefore it was surprising to read in her new book "America by Heart" that there is another group of people who had become a prominent target for Sarah Palin:

Hollwood filmmakers!

In classic Palin style, she dishes out viciously.

Why?

Well, she explains it in great length.

On page 40, she looks down the barrel of her gun and takes aim:

There was a time when our popular culture shared the American people's admiration of our fighting men and women. They didn't just mouth words about "supporting the troops" while they trashed everything our soldiers were fighting for, the way they often do today. Even Hollywood celebrities risked their lives for the freedom that made them rich.

Hollywood trashes soldiers - p 40

It seems that Sarah apparently holds the view that recently "Hollywood celebrities" have trashed everything American soldiers have been fighting for.

But why is that?

Sarah Palin is not shy to explain and on page 42 she launches her grand slam against Hollywood:

Today Hollywood seems to be more at home disparaging the war effort than supporting it. During the Iraq war, Hollywood did something it had never done before in the history of American warfare: It made movies like Rendition and Green Zone, films that were critical of the war while the troops were still fighting in the field. It's their right to be critical, of course, just as it's our right not to support undermining our troops while they are risking their lives in battle; and Americans didn't. These anti-Iraq War films all tanked at the box office. You would think that if love of country didn't inspire Hollywood to make different films, love of the box office receipts would.

What makes this reflexive anti-Americanism hardest to swallow is the fact that it is our troops - these men and women who are being portrayed as unwitting (and witting) agents of greed and evil on the big screen - who make the entertainment industry possible. Hollywood stars like nothing better than to stand up on Oscar night and congratulate themselves for their courage in speaking truth to power. They forget - or refuse to acknowledge - that someone is paying the price for their freedom to speak their minds. Dissent is a form of patriotism, but it's far from the highest form. Our men and women in uniform own that honor.

BIG HOLLYWOOD SLAM - p 42

BIG HOLLYWOOD SLAM - p 43

So here are two of the movies that Sarah Palin doesn't appreciate, according to "America by Heart."

Rendition, starring Reese Witherspoon:

Controversies about anti-war movies are of course not new. For example, Oscar-winning "All Quiet on the Western Front" from 1930, in my opinion one of the best films of all times, has had quite a history:

All Quiet... was censored and banned in many countries. The French did not like aspersions cast upon the virtue of its women. Germans objected particularly to the character of Himmelstross, who becomes a sadistic Army-sanctioned martinet, and to the discussion amongst the soldiers about the causes of war. Germany was the 2nd biggest European market for American films in 1930, and Universal wanted to make a cut that would be acceptable there, partly because it was the homeland of Universal's founder, Carl Laemmle. But the Nazis disrupted the premiere, Joseph Goebbels made a speech denouncing it, mice, stink bombs and sneezing powder were released in the theater and outside, the SS instigated a riot. The Nazi paper called it "A Jewish lie" and "a hate film slandering the German soldier." The film was banned inside Germany, but the German language version played to full houses just over the border, and special trains and buses transported the audience to theaters in Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. In Poland, the ending was cut. All Quiet... was banned in Italy and did not play there until 1956. It was banned in Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and New Zealand. It finally played Australia with severe cuts. The film was not seen in Germany again until 1952.

So Sarah Palin apparently prefers glorious war films with pure American heroes and lots of shiny uniforms and smiling faces. I think that's what was commonly called "Propaganda" in the past, and would still be regarded as such today.

But what if a war is dirty, rotten, far from pure, when good could suddenly turn into evil and friend or foe could become difficult to distinguish?

Sarah Palin, whose ambition it is to be the first female American president, the commander in chief of the mightiest military machine in the world, has a simple solution:

IT SIMPLY DOES NOT HAPPEN.

You have heard right. In Sarah Palin's world, the USA does not fight unjust wars, because it's simply impossible. Case closed!

She writes on page 38:

"Which is why, contrary to the ugly accusations of the antiwar crowd, America doesn't go to war for big business or for oil or for the sake of imperial conquest."

War not for oil - p 38

This simplistic and naive world view makes me shudder. This is the perception of a young girl who doesn't really know anything about world politics and wars. It's the view of a naive young girl who marvels at handsome soldiers in their smart uniforms. It's Sarah Palin's view.

So, is there any comfort, is there any hope?

Not really. Look at what Sarah describes as her "favorite part" of a song:

Put boot in your ass p 44

And you'll be sorry that you messed with

The U S of A

'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass

It's the American way.

No, this is certainly NOT the American way. That perfectly describes Sarah Palin's way.

Who granted Sarah Palin the right to speak for all of America anyway?

Nobody, as far as I can see.

It's time for American citizens, filmmakers, actors and others to speak up and let the world know what Americans really think about the views of Sarah Palin.
