The Dangerous Nature Of Sarah Palin's Lies and Hateful Rhetoric: New York City "Mosque" Controversy

Guest post by EyeOnYou -

Sarah Palin has been discussed lately due to her tweets, with her comments on the Mosque/Community Center being set up 2 blocks away from Ground Zero.

She has taken this a step further now with a post on her facebook page which shows that she is deliberately fanning the flames of religious intolerance as well as deliberately misinforming her adoring fans about the truth of what is going on.

This is the post Sarah Palin made:

An Intolerable Mistake on Hallowed Ground

Earlier today, Mayor Bloomberg responded to my comments about the planned mosque at Ground Zero by suggesting that a decision not to allow the building of a mosque at that sacred place would somehow violate American principles of tolerance and openness.

No one is disputing that America stands for – and should stand for – religious tolerance. It is a foundation of our republic. This is not an issue of religious tolerance but of common moral sense. To build a mosque at Ground Zero is a stab in the heart of the families of the innocent victims of those horrific attacks. Just days after 9/11, the spiritual leader of the organization that wants to build the mosque, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, suggested that blame be placed on the innocents when he stated that the “United States’ policies were an accessory to the crime that happened” and that “in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.” Rauf refuses to recognize that Hamas is a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of our ally, Israel, and refuses to provide information about the sources of funding for the $100 million mosque. Rauf also plays a key role in a group behind the flotilla designed to provoke Israel in its justifiable blockade of Gaza. These are just a few of the points Americans are realizing as New York considers the proposed mosque just a stone’s throw away from 9/11’s sacred ground.

I agree with the sister of one of the 9/11 victims (and a New York resident) who said: “This is a place which is 600 feet from where almost 3,000 people were torn to pieces by Islamic extremists. I think that it is incredibly insensitive and audacious really for them to build a mosque, not only on that site, but to do it specifically so that they could be in proximity to where that atrocity happened.”

Many Americans, myself included, feel it would be an intolerable and tragic mistake to allow such a project sponsored by such an individual to go forward on such hallowed ground. This is nothing close to “religious intolerance,” it’s just common decency.

- Sarah Palin

First of all, lets dispel some of the misinformation. Cordoba House is NOT, I repeat NOT "at Ground Zero" as Sarah and her ghostwriter would have you believe. This is a map showing the location of the structure in relation to Ground Zero:

map Cordoba House

This next picture is from Google Maps and I have placed a red box around the area that the Cordoba House is going to be located and you can see it in relation to where Ground Zero actually is.

google map Cordoba House

Now lets address this "building a mosque" claim.

This is not a building being erected, but a renovation of a building that is already in place. This building will be named "Cordoba House" and will include many many more things than just a prayer center, which by the way is already in place and being used regularly:

Cordoba House is a Muslim-led project which will build a world-class facility that promotes tolerance, reflecting the rich diversity of New York City. The center will be community-driven, serving as a platform for inter-community gatherings and cooperation at all levels, providing a space for all New Yorkers to enjoy.

This proposed project is about promoting integration, tolerance of difference and community cohesion through arts and culture. Cordoba House will provide a place where individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, will find a center of learning, art and culture; and most importantly, a center guided by Islamic values in their truest form - compassion, generosity, and respect for all.

The site will contain tremendous amounts of resources that otherwise would not exist in Lower Manhattan; a 500-seat auditorium, swimming pool, art exhibition spaces, bookstores, restaurants - all these services would form a cultural nexus for a region of New York City that, as it continues to grow, requires the sort of hub that Cordoba House will provide.

No one in this community has any illusions about the dangers we face in this world. We lived through the attacks of 9/11 and years of rebuilding. Many of us responded that day and afterwards – including dozens of members of Imam Rauf’s congregation. Our neighbors at Sufi Books (now Dergah Al-Farah), which has been on West Broadway since 1983, responded immediately and passionately in our neighborhood’s and our country’s defense – by helping to save lives at the site of the attack and by immediately condemning the terrorists and their cause. Rauf recently described his mission as to “embolden the vast majority of Muslims who hate terrorism to stand up to the radical rhetoric” and to “interweave America’s Muslim population into the mainstream society.”

When Ms. Grillo leads tours as a docent for the 9/11 Tribute Center, she asks visitors from all over the world to focus on the word “tolerance.” What better place to teach tolerance than near the site where hate tried to kill it?

Now just for a bit of a refresher, lets revisit the 1st Amendment to the Constitution shall we? You know that pesky document that Sarah Palin keeps demanding we stick to when she feels she has another rant coming on?

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law "respecting an establishment of religion", impeding the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Seems to me that Sarah Palin and those opposed to this Community Center are trying to impede the free exercise of religion by demanding that this place not be allowed to go forward, and they are also interfering with the right to peaceably assemble by demanding that this community center be moved to a different location simply because they dislike the specific religious beliefs of those who are going to be using the prayer center.

It has been nearly 9 years since the September 11 Attack on this country. How long is long enough to begin healing? How far enough away would it be acceptable to establish this community center in order to make people like Sarah Palin happy? Does Sarah Palin and her facebook ghostwriter know how many Muslims were killed on September 11th? Do they even care?

Americans were killed along with people from Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, El Salvador, Germany, Grenada, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Sweden and the United Kingdom. People of various ages ranging from 2 up to 85 years old. This was a world tragedy not just an American one. Yes, it happened on American soil, and yes it was directed at American, but we were not the only ones who lost people on that tragic day. People from all backgrounds were killed on that day.

There is so much involved in this subject that we could go on for days discussing it, but the main thrust of this post is supposed to be about getting the facts out there, and showing the dangerous attitude of the people who are supporting the misinformation that Sarah Palin and those like her are distributing in the name of politics or personal bigotry.

How are people reacting to her facebook note? Good question, and I have some answers. It isn't pretty. Not pretty at all and it shows how she stirs anger and is quite happy to do it as we've seen from the many incidents where she has sought to divide people in this country.

Here is a screenshot of the comments made. At this moment there are 2,884 comments and a majority of them are like the ones shown in the screenshot.

New York City is one of the most liberal areas in the country. However, even a majority of New York City voters agree with Governor Palin on the mosque
New York City voters oppose 52 - 31 percent a proposal by a Muslim group to build a mosque and cultural center two blocks from Ground Zero, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Another 17 percent are undecided.

Whatever happened to old-fashioned consideration and respect? If this religion is truly anti-violence, why don't they say, hey, a terrible thing connected with our religion happened here, and we don't want to rub salt in the wound, so out of respect for those who died, we will NOT build a mosque, but rather will find a place that doesn't cause irritation? Now THAT would show that their religion truly does respect others and denounce violence.15 minutes ago · 1 person

So as is obvious there is a lot of hate, misinformation and dangerous attitudes among Sarah's followers. The anger displayed toward individuals who have a different belief system than they do is plainly evident and exceptionally frightening. To believe that Muslims are all bad, or that this Community center is some kind of dangerous place or disrespectful slap in the face to those who died is a joke, but sadly one that is becoming more and more popular with a select group of citizens.

How sad that this is what so many feel, when they themselves are likely to cry foul if someone tried to trample on their right to free religious expression.

"What better place to teach tolerance than near the site where hate tried to kill it?"

That comment stands out for me.

Sarah Palin could have taken this opportunity and used it to show herself to be a true Christian, and instead she went down the opposite path. She could have shown herself to be supportive of the Constitution like she professes herself to be, but again that is not the path she wanted to take.

I am not surprised by the behavior she displays and encourages in people, but I am saddened by it. I have been paying close attention to her for what feels like an eternity but in reality is has only been a few years. In those few years, I have watched her lash out, encourage rage and anger in her supporters, lie, deliberately misrepresent, and bilk people out of money, and all of it to feed her own ego, and to become a celebutaunt on the national stage.

She is a dangerous person and one who should not be ignored, as she will do everything in her power to continue to encourage dangerous behavior from as many people as she can. That is what she does and it is who she is. Sadly she has conned a lot of good decent people into believing her, but I am always hopeful that people will finally remove the blinders from their eyes and simply look at the facts which show how shallow, egotistical, and narcissistic her behavior is.

More examples of those fans of Sarah Palin and her viewpoints.

Despite its name, the National Republican Trust has no formal connection to the Republican Party. It is an independent group with ties to the conservative Web site Newsmax.

Dear National Republican Trust Supporter:
How do you feel about leather-clad, baton-wielding New Black Panthers "patrolling" your local polling place? Or the planting of a monstrous 13-story mosque at Ground Zero? We can do it, but we desperately need your help with this campaign. The media may refuse to cover this project, and even work to silence our voice, but together, we can expose this outrage and broadcast it into the living rooms of every proud American.
Please consider an investment of $250, $100, $50 or $25. And Please know that no contribution is too small. Together, we suffered on that horrific September day; united, we will fight to honor and protect our fallen by stopping this disgusting effort.
This Ad campaign and our ongoing investigation will ensure that we are victorious. We will kill the Ground Zero Mosque.
We cannot let these terrorists build a shrine on the ground where they cowardly attacked innocent Americans on 9/11. GO HERE TO JOIN THE FIGHT!

Note Wheelers ranting about a conspiracy trying to bury the truth and silence him and his talk of exposing it. That's how totalitarians talk.

Now I had previously put up photographs of the site of this Community Center (and make no mistake that is what it is) showing it in relation to where Ground Zero is, but for a better understanding of what the location looks like and to show that this isn't going to be a Mosque like the above video is trying to imply it will be, you must remember that this is not a new building going up. It is a building in place that is simply being renovated to use for the Community Center. This center will have bookstores, restaurants, a swimming pool, and many other things.

This is a picture of the street where this Community Center will be located:

Street view - NYC mosque

Not quite the way it is pictured in the video, is it?

This is what is in the video and what these people would have you believe that this Community Center will look like:

kill the ground zero mosque ad - screenshot

If they are going to continue to claim that this "Mosque is being built at Ground Zero", which we have now proven to be two separate and distinct lies, (it is a building that is being renovated & it is not at Ground Zero) then you have to ask yourself, what else are they willing to lie about? The answer to that is ..whatever they want to lie about in order to scare people and use that fear to bring in support both emotional and financial.

They certainly aren't going to tell people that this center is housing much more than a prayer room (which is already being used) because that would seem much more reasonable and not so frightening to people who are already leery of those who are "different".

What is so frightening and damaging to the community about restaurants, bookstores, swimming pools, art exhibitions and worship groups? Nothing about those things are frightening at all to reasonable people so that is why they aren't mentioned, and that is why this is being labeled a Mosque instead of a Community Center.

I had been trying to write a conclusion to this piece and had rewritten it several times when I noticed someone had linked to this article by Jeffrey Goldberg at the Atlantic who wrote a wonderful piece titled "Why Sarah Palin Endangers American National Security (and Israel's, as Well)":

On the second point, the danger she poses to America -- and specifically, to American national security -- Palin has this week argued vociferously against the building of a mosque near the site of Ground Zero in lower Manhattan. She calls the idea of a mosque there a provocation. But it is her opposition to the building of a mosque that is provocative. The organization that hopes to build the mosque, the Cordoba Initiative, is a moderate Muslim group, striving for better relations between the Muslim and non-Muslim worlds. It is in the direct interest of American national security to strengthen those groups that argue against Islamism. Palin's opposition to the mosque -- and by extension, to the enfranchisement of moderate Muslims -- is a gift to Islamists, proof to their potential followers that America is as intolerant of Islam as Europe is, proof that it is America, not Islam, that wants to see our civilizations clash. We as a society should embrace those Muslims who want to live the American dream; their lives, as free, devout and proud Muslims in a diverse country, are a refutation of the radical notion that the West is forever aligned against the interests of Muslim believers. Opposing the building of mosques by anti-jihadist Muslim groups in this country is perhaps the best way to radicalize American Muslims not otherwise prone to radicalization.

It is true that this country is home to a non-insignificant number of already-radicalized Muslims. There's no point in denying that. But there's a war on -- a clash within a civilization -- and we can affect the outcome of this war by embracing those Muslims who are ready and willing to live in our multi-confessional country, while fighting those who violently oppose American values. Sarah Palin, from what I see so far, views Islam as a monolith, and because of this view, she argues for policies that could do severe damage to American national security. This is a complicated war we're in, and Sarah Palin is, by the evidence at hand, dangerously simple-minded.

Jeffery Goldberg @ The Atlantic
(H/T to drpatois for the link)

I agree with his conclusion as it was what I was trying to put into word. She is more than just simple-minded, she is willing to take on any cause if she thinks it will keep her in the news, and she doesn't care about what the issue is, nor does she care to understand the issue. For Sarah it has always been about making noise and riling up her supporters in whatever way she can.

There is no doubt that there are people in the world who want to do harm to others and they will always find a reason to do so in their own warped minds, but we should not be playing into their hands and into their deliberately misinformed viewpoints by ensuring that their supporters are seeing us act out in the ways that these terrorists claim we will and do. Sarah Palin and those who blindly follow her are dangerous to this country for the simple reason that they seek to divide us, which weakens us in many different ways, on many different fronts.

We will never completely eradicate terrorism. There will always be those who seek power through intimidation and fear, but we can fight it, and we only lose to them if we allow ourselves to change who we are and what we do out of fear and intimidation.

Sarah and Todd Palin, Jeremy Morlock's family, and more secrets from Wasilla revealed

top secret
"But that I am forbid To tell the secrets of my prison house, I could a tale unfold whose lightest word Would harrow up thy soul, freeze thy young blood, Make thy two eyes like stars start from their spheres, Thy knotted and combined locks to part, And each particular hair to stand on end Like quills upon the fretful porpentine."

Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (Ghost at I, v)
+++

If one is looking for secrets, Wasilla might be one of the greatest places ever. We don't know all of them, of course. ;-) However, ever since we started to investigate Queen Sarah, the creature that came from Wasilla, we slowly started to get to know some of them. We received information from several sources over time, and we are incredibly careful when it comes to publishing it. Several things we have heard we have never published so far, because it was not substantiated enough to back it up. This rule still applies. There are still untold stories for us to reveal at some later point.

Recently a particularly well-informed person from the circle close to Palins came forward. We know of course the identity of the source, and the information we received was very detailed and absolutely credible. After an email exchange, I had a long phone conversation with this person, we also diligently checked the general personal background, and the time has come to let the world know what we were told.

In my little teaser in the comments earlier today I said that it will have a bit of everything. The main part of the events have to do with the Palins and the Morlocks, two families who are very close to each other. The children grew up and played together, they went to school with each other, they had sleepovers at each other's houses, the kids had Sarah Palin's cellphone number saved and some of the adults have known each other for more than 30 years. The association of the families is very, very tight.

If you think you recognize this name: I am talking about the family of Jeremy Morlock, the soldier from Wasilla who was recently arrested for being under suspicion of murder, while being on duty in Afghanistan.

When the news broke that Jeremy Morlock was arrested, John Cook, senior reporter with Yahoo News, already noticed that the "Soldier accused of murder in Afghanistan crossed paths with the Palin family."

Wasilla, as Palin frequently pointed out during the 2008 election campaign, is a very small community, so it's not surprising that the Palin family would have developed relationships, however incidental, with one of its residents. According to a 2009 People magazine profile of Bristol Palin, Jeremy Morlock's sister April is a friend of Bristol's and attended a "pizza and bingo party" at the Palin residence. And in 2005, Jeremy Morlock played in a high school hockey league with Palin's son Track, who himself served in the Army in Iraq. The two apparently attended different high schools.

This little insight set the heads of the Palinbots spinning, because they were upset that the "lamestream media" would construct such a connection between the two families.

But what was revealed at Yahoo News is only a small part of the whole story.

April Morlock's mother is Audrey Morlock. Audrey has a twin sister who is also called April.

April Morlock Jr. is one of Bristol Palin's closest friends, maybe even THE closest friend. They are of course also friends on Bristol's secret facebook account, which Bristol has opened under another name.

The relations of the Morlocks to the Palins go back a long way.

April Sr., the twin sister of Audrey Morlock, dated Todd from 5th to 9th grade in Dillingham.

So now we are beginning to build up a picture as to how long these families have been connected to each other.

+++

Most of you have probably heard that Willow Palin was apparently involved in badly trashing and vandalizing a house in Wasilla along with other teenagers. We haven't written about this story so far, which was reported on several Alaskan blogs, because we didn't have concrete confirmation about the story.

However, recently we received confirmation from our source that this story was true.

The group of teenagers vandalized the house, which was empty at the time, very badly and caused extensive damage.

We were told that this house, which was about to be sold, was owned by the Morlock family.

April Morlock Jr. (Jeremy's sister) called Bristol Palin and confronted her with the fact she had heard that Willow was part of the group that trashed the house. Bristol then said she would check this, and shortly afterwards called April back and confirmed that fact that Willow was part of the group.

Audrey Morlock, April's mother, then visited Sarah and Todd and personally confronted them with these facts. While Sarah immediately rejected the idea that Willow could have been part of this group, Todd was more understanding and said that he would look into the situation. The exact outcome is not known to our source, but it's believed that insurance paid the damage.

+++

However, there is another story which involves April Morlock, Jeremy's sister, which is also of great interest to us all

At some point in the past, April Morlock got in trouble with her mother Audrey. In order to defend herself, April blurted out:

"At least I am not pregnant like Bristol Palin."

According to our source, this was long before the Tripp pregnancy. Therefore April Morlock must have been referring to another pregnancy before Tripp.

I would like to stress again that we have at least two credible other inside sources which have confirmed that Bristol Palin was pregnant in 2007, and I am not even counting Michael Carey's source - the lawyer who said that the faked pregnancy was the "absolute truth".

One of these sources, and I have said this before, is a high ranking politician within the Republican Party in Alaska, whose name we know.

Bristol Palin was absent from public view from the beginning of October 2007 until the middle of February 2008, when she is mentioned as being involved in a car crash. She also didn't travel during this time, unlike Willow and Piper, which we know from the complete travel reports.

Sarah Palin, to repeat this again, faked her pregnancy with Trig. This is not a belief or an assumption. It's a true fact.

+++

On another note: We already suspected long ago that Todd Palin is not the biological father of Track Palin.

Our highly reliable source, who is extremely close to the situation, confirmed that this is true. Sarah was already pregnant when she moved back to Wasilla in 1988 - but not from Todd. She then quickly "scooped" Todd, and they hurriedly married. According to our source, Todd knew at this point that Sarah was pregnant by somebody else.

Our source didn't even know that Palingates had written about this topic before, when we talked about it.

The biological father of Track CJ Palin is Curtis Menard Jr., who was officially his godfather. Curtis died in a plane crash in 2001. See here for details.

+++

At this point I would also like to mention another fact: We recently wrote about the revelations of the National Enquirer from 2008, in which they reported that Brad Hanson had a sexual affair with Sarah Palin in the mid-1990's. The National Enquirer was very certain of their case and they even obtained a polygraph test and an affidavit as evidence.

We have information from two credible sources that Sarah Palin indeed had a sexual extramarital affair with Brad Hanson at this point, and one of the sources is a member of Brad Hanson's family, with whom I spoke on the phone.

+++

I can imagine that it's upsetting for many of the participants in this endless "hide & seek" game which is going on regarding the secrets of Sarah Palin to see some of the details published. However, it's time for the great charade to come to an end, and for the Palins and others to come forward with the truth.

Phil Munger from Progressive Alaska send out a plea to Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, Sarah's (former?) doctor in a blog post from February 22, 2010:

"Palin has repeatedly claimed in the national media that she has presented for public scrutiny a birth certificate for Trig. That is not the case. I've observed a few times here that this seeming lie should be taken up by the so-called media. As yet, to my knowledge, it hasn't been.

Are people too jaded by Palin's lies to take this more seriously than the hundreds of others? If so, that is bizarre, because it is an important matter.

There are few people who could settle this. I don't trust Palin. I do trust Cathy, though, and can never thank her enough for helping save Alex.

Although she is under no legal or perhaps even moral obligation to share more about what she knows of the strange circumstances of Trig Palin's appearance on the scene, Cathy could single-handedly cut the Gordian knot on this, and free us from a somewhat suffocating entanglement."

Phil's request has not been answered. The "suffocating entanglement" still exists. Sarah and Todd Palin have to come clean.

This situation has been created by Sarah Palin's excessive political ambitions. Her severe mental problems apparently make it difficult for her to face the truth, and the longer this situation continues, the more suffocating it will be for the people in Alaska, America and at some point even for people in other parts of the world.

Patrick from Palingates talks again to radio talk show host Nicole Sandler on the air - UPDATE: BREAKING NEWS

After the pleasant experience of having talked to radio talk show host Nicole Sandler on the air on June 29, I was very happy that Nicole Sandler yesterday asked me again if I wanted to go on her show. Of course I said yes, not only because Nicole is a brilliant host, but also because these are valuable opportunities to bring our points across to a wider audience.

I had a very good conversation with Nicole on the air yesterday, who guest hosted the national Randi Rhodes show. While the focus during the first conversation on June 29 was on babygate, it was slightly different yesterday, as we talked about several issues. I do hope that the next conversation will follow soon. :-)

You can visit Nicole Sandler's website HERE.

What else has happened:

Please visit Progressive Alaska and enjoy the take by Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks regarding Palin's latest twitter disaster!

I am confident that Mrs. Shakespalin will reclaim the headlines soon again. After all, she has so much success right now in her role as "rebel without a clue."

UPDATE:

Excerpt:
Everyone in Alaska is hoping for an invitation to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston's August wedding to land on their doorstep, everyone that is except the state's most famous resident and mother of the bride, Sarah Palin, who will not be attending.

"It's going to be the wedding of the century in Alaska. Our version of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding,' a Palin family friend told me with a straight face. "Everyone would kill to get an invite even if it means having to buy them an expensive gift. It's just too bad that her mother has refused to attend. Although I can't say I blame her after everything that boy has put her through."

It is true that Levi has not always acted like the perfect future son-in-law towards Sarah and her family. But Sarah's refusal to go to her daughter's special day has even Levi shocked.

UPDATE 2:

The Peezoo is proud that Politico writes that "refudiate" is not a new word.

Here is what Politico found out:

In fact, the New York Times featured it nearly a month ago.

"With a couple of exceptions — Mr. Bellingham among them — interviewing pot sellers is unlike interviewing anyone else in business. Simple yes-or-no questions yield 10-minute soliloquies," David Segal wrote in a piece titled "When Capitalism Meets Cannabis. "Words are coined on the spot, like 'refudiate,' and regular words are used in ways that make sense only in context."

And, according to Lexis-Nexis, Sen. Mike DeWine deployed the word years ago. The Hotline quoted DeWine's 2006 remarks on "Fox & Friends," criticizing comments made by Sen. John Kerry.

"I think anyone that is associated with him campaigning needs to refudiate these comments," DeWine said. "Sherrod Brown needs to refudiate these comments."

Sooooo....another dumbass Senator and pot sellers (users?) have "coined" the word before? Good to know! ;-)

Also:

HuffPost published an article about the #shakespalin twitter explosion with a hilarious slideshow.

UPDATE 3:

You gotta be kidding me. I had just finished my update, when junior-creeper Rich Crowther published a new post at the Palin-fanclub. Believe it or not: He made a google book-search! How sophisticated! Palinbots can use google! But it get's even better: He found out that "refudiate" was already used in 1980!

C4P refudiate google search

He presents three screenshots, and it apparently doesn't occur to him that in the first two screenshots it's most likely only a misspelling of "repudiate".

But then comes the third screenshot. And believe it or not: This one is definitely NOT misspelled! Did Rich Crowther find the holy grail? Did he exonerate his Queen and destroy the evil liberals and anklebiters once and for all?

Judge for yourself. Here is his screenshot. The red annotations are made by me.

Refudiate is not a word - with red

Palingates Weekly Roundup July 11-18, 2010

By Blueberry Tart

Sarah Palin - backasswards tweet

Just after I finished last week’s roundup, Patrick posted a gem about Sarah’s “backassward” tweet, another of Sarah’s little attention-getting ploys. This is what 46 year-olds do, when they never got beyond their mean middle school personas.

Sarah and Blago 3

Two “Pees” in a Pod – LOL! On Tuesday we had an excellent guest post by BfromC, comparing Rod Blagojevich with Sarah Palin – two erstwhile governors who spent many workdays goofing off at home, fond of big hair, and consumed by their “hatred-envy” of President Obama. Some good quotes re narcissistic personality disorder: "He's very glib and superficial," [Dr. Daniela Schreirer] said. "He's very self-confident, maybe overly self-confident. He's dramatic and erratic. He has an inability to acknowledge, 'I messed up.'" And from psychologist Scott Amber: "One hallmark of a narcissistic personality is they're motivated almost exclusively by self-interest," he said. "So if you're going to have someone in public office whose motivations are predominantly, 'What's in it for me?' in the long run they're not going to serve the citizens very well." Sound familiar?

Believing Sarah Palin

Next up was a post on Dave Weigel’s guest blog (on Andrew Sullivan’s site, of all places), claiming as fact that Sarah is Trig’s mom and accusing those questioning her story of being irresponsible (he’ is the objective judge of responsible reporting: LOL). Weigel claims, “All of the evidence indicates that Trig Palin is Sarah's son, and none of it suggests otherwise.” You’ll have to trust him, because he didn’t bother to actually present any “evidence.” Why be troubled by the tedium of fact-checking? Patrick and litbrit brilliantly rebutted his self-righteous and self-serving pronouncements.

Simmering since PG’s post that Levi was spending time at Bristol’s condo, the news finally broke (in the midst of the comment thread) that Bristol and Levi are re-engaged (a close relative of re-virginization). In keeping with the Palin’s long-standing practice of keeping their personal lives private, Bristol announced her engagement to Levi via a weekly tabloid (for a mere $100K), claiming that Sarah did not even know yet; Sarah responded via the media also2. (But Weigel yells: “Leave her family alone.”) Some quotes: “Bristol tellsthe glossy, ‘It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board.’" (US Weekly) And: "Bristol says that had her mom not been a VP candidate, she and Levi would already be married and would never have split." (from HuffPo/US)

Dlb44 and cheeriogirl posted the link to a great rebuttal to Weigel, written by a reader of the Daily Dish, on Andrew’s blog: “She is the one who brings her family into the debate for one thing, and moreover - as a candidate, the Trig story means she's at best an exaggerator, and at worst an outright liar, rash and stubborn to the point that she'd endanger her baby to deliver him where she wanted to, or a wretched decision-maker under considerable pressure. If that doesn't impact her candidacy, I don't know what does. And if anyone thinks she isn't going to make another run at something, they're deluding themselves as much as she is.”

what happened to bristol palin
Bristol Palin on Oprah, vowing to be abstinent

Patrick reluctantly wades into the muck and mire of the long-running Palin-Johnston soap opera. The post includes links to the video of Levi and Bristol sharing their special, private moment with millions of people; Kathy Griffin’s hilarious scene tearing up Levi’s Playgirl spread; catfight; some behind the scenes info about Bristol’s prior roommate, Ben Barber (abstinence, anyone?) and some insider takes on how angry Sarah is about Bristol “going rogue” on HER – how dare she, that ingrate!! We end up where we need to be – back focusing on Sarah Palin – reminded of how idiotic and petty she looked during her public spat with Andrea Friedman over the Family Guy episode.

Surrealist foot
Sarah Palin: Surrealist hero

Back to business, as Patrick revisits a theme right out of a Buñuel film: Sarah’s qualifications to be the leader of the free world. (I am gagging and gasping for breath even as I type this.) Let’s see: she has “common sense” (sez who? But arguendo, this makes her unique?), has American values and is not one of those spineless elitists who run the country; and she speaks for “normal Americans.” OMG, that is truly surreal, given how abnormal she really is. In the interview (like the book), Sarah criticizes the evil “campaign operatives” who screwed things, and claims that Gibson and Couric were out to get her and make her look bad – Gibson’s was a “gotcha” question and Couric’s (“what do you read”) was “condescending” because Sarah “didn’t ingratiate herself to the liberal media.” She claims to have more executive experience than the President, but fails to mention that she was incapable of doing the job of mayor, so Wasilla had to hire a city manager, and she quit the oil & gas commissioner and governor jobs. She thinks W did a great job, ignoring the inconvenient fact that he ran up the very large debt to China that she now feels is unacceptable and blames on President Obama. Yada yada. The interview also covers her bizarre assertion that “some people” thought she should abort the square pillow. (Classic psychological projection.) The post has a few of the all-time classic clips of Sarah’s idiotic interviews…they may help you get over the sheer terror of imagining Sarah as POTUS.

Comments of the Week:

Peacepax: …Sarah…Everybody understands about you and fences. Fence out the rent paying Joe M. Fence out the tuition paying CSU students. Fence out Citizens from the country that borders us to our South...

Finny has Sarah pegged: “Here is the subtle sub-text of her tweet: Mr. President! Mr. President! Pay attention to meeeee! Can you hear me? Can you see me? Mr. President! Over here! Hey! I'm right heeeere why don't you talk to me!!!! I'm Sarah Palin, look at meeeeeeee! Mr. President, if you don't pay me attention, I will SCREAM! Pay attention to ME.”

Ripley in CT: Jerky on the seat?.... I thought they were talking about her chair when she sits down!

Turuk: “Sadly, Palin thinks her use of ‘backasswards’ is witty. She thinks she is being very clever and edgy… you can hear her snide, arrogance…where she says Obama has some nebulous ‘plan’, ‘imposed on the county we love,’ because…Obama by implication doesn't love this country as ‘we’ do. What plan is being imposed? She doesn't say. It doesn't matter just so long as she is framing the situation as ‘us’ vs. hem.’ ‘Them’ of course is anyone who is smarter than she (which includes my cat.)…”

Apparent Reality: “It is probably more a part of her psychiatric illness as a crazed sociopath…she has been a liar and a poor loser long before she was a gov.or vp candidate. When she loses anything, she retaliates and attacks, not with facts, but with things she makes up off the top of her bumpit. She hates that she lost to President Obama and she will invent any phrase or lie to throw out there, like a disturbed child having a tantrum. She exists in a state of rage…”

For Molly_WI: “Resolved: To work much harder at commenting much more worthwhile and/or snarkier stuff in order to catch Blueberry's eye!” [Here you go, Molly!! ;-) ]

OMG, Armchair Jane found a brilliant new Palinism in the Hannity interview: "refudiated"! It joins “mandation” and “Alexis de Cokeville” (along with new meanings for “ions” and “ravage”) in the Palin-lexicon! (At some point, maybe FormerRepublican will do a new Wordle with some of these – ahem – unique words?) AND RipleyinCT has a great Urban Dictionary entry: http://tinyurl.com/32wo23w

Honestyingov: “Floyd Orr's 'Palin Babygate' post today has an interesting analogy comparison of how the Media refuses to tell the real truth behind Palin and expose her. They are enablers in this whole process and complicit in allowing the fraud to continue. ( for their own gain.. $$$$$ )”

Peacepax: "And WHO did Dave interview in Alaska that he talks/brags about...? I bet It wasn't CBJ,
who with her lawyer standing by her side, refused to confirm Sarah gave birth to Trig.”

Ice_nine: “Sounds like he took the same journalism classes as Palin.”

Louiecypher: “Wow Sarah I saw your latest facey booky post and I must say, nail on the head, because you bring more people together than a unicorn farting rainbows!!”

Krbmjb05: “The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one.”
Adolf Hitler

Lola summed it up: “What is wrong with you, Dave Weigel? Are you on a mission to completely sabotage whatever shred of journalistic credibility you have left?”
1. ‘Trig Palin is Sarah Palin's son and it's irresponsible to suggest otherwise.’ This is a cheap shot at your supposed ‘colleague’ and you know it. Your flat out assertion that ‘Trig Palin is Sarah Palin's son,’ based so-called ‘evidence’ that amounts to nothing more than the anecdotal stories we've all been privy to since Trig arrived on the scene ... now, that's being irresponsible. Honest research, anyone?
2. ‘I paid close enough attention to this in 2008 ...’ uh, no you obviously didn't. Besides, it's 2010, Mr Weigel, and a good portion of the Trig maternity iceberg has been methodically uncovered in the past two years.
3. ‘... because they've got nothing else to criticize Palin about.’ A simply stunning falsehood... laughable on its face because it's so ludicrous, but also rather sobering. You wildly underestimate the intellectual capacity of this readership when you try to pass off empty platitudes as "journalism," in your efforts to pander to Sarah Palin.”

Disqusux: “Dave Weigel has less credibility than Levi Johnston.”

Gyalist: “Dave Weigel would do well to read this article in today's Guardian about Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks: ‘Journalism should be more like science…As far as possible, facts should be verifiable… If Dave Weigel has substantive evidence that Sarah Palin is Trig's birth mother, he should reveal it lest he be doomed to further irrelevance when the truth finally comes out.”
AKRNC: “The newest version of Webster's Dictionary should have a picture of Palin next to the word "hypocrite.’”

Zane1: “Well said Patrick, it seems like reporters & the media want to create their own reality that has very little to do with the truth & we are expected to go along with them because they are getting paid big money to lie...”

Avasmom: “[Weigel] argues… for the sake of argument. …No real knowledge. No basis.”

NJFan: “If they want ‘privacy’ then tell them to stop selling themselves for money.”

ArmchairJane: “Come on Dave, those kids are just scraping by, earning a meager living by selling stories and photos about their "private" lives to the tabloids at $100K a pop, and here you go trying to rob them of their hard earned and modest income!”

laprofesora: “Yes, she's in the news everyday, but she's in the news for being a screeching lunatic, and the matriarch of a completely dysfunctional family.”

Clairey (commenting on article in The Nation, with this quote): “’She doesn't have real support among actual people, even Republican primary voters. She is a self-perpetuating phenomenon of, by and for the media.’ This says it all. People are afraid to go on the record criticizing her (her fans are dangerous, after all), and she's NOTHING without a complicit media.”

Anon: "’But the young parents are forging ahead with what could be a short-order wedding, one in which Palin reportedly wants to incorporate camouflage.’ Just what might they be ‘camouflaging’? LOL”

ThanksABunchJohn: “This is not a matter to ignore, it is key in exposing the vile nature of Sarah Palin, and exposing the hypocrisy of the proverbial ‘Mama Grizzly’ myth. There will be more to come from Bristol, and I will not take my eye off of that ball, it might finally be the unlatching of Babygate, once and for all.”

In response to Joey’s dissent, Patrick had this comment, which in a nutshell is why we love Palingates: “Joey, I fully understand your view. We don't claim that it's the ‘ultimate truth’ what we present here. It's our opinion, based on the available information. Other people might come to different conclusions, and we strongly encourage everyone to discuss these issues and make up your own mind.”

laprofesora picked up a good quote from NYT: “Michelle Church, who was active in local politics with Sarah Palin, said of the young pair: ‘They both learned from the best on how to be an opportunist. Everything’s a farce with this family.’”

PMom (GA) astutely observed that Bristol’s former boyfriend, Ben Barber, would likely know if she were abstinent and should not need to ask…hmm. AKRNC picked up a comment on from crystalwolfakacaligrl on previous thread, indicating Bristol is pregnant. She says no. Time will tell…

espresso4me: “Palin's ego is seriously ravaged and can be easily refudiated by any sane, thinking person.” And later: “Nightmares are made of this but, then too also, there is comedy.”

mocha: “Once again, Palin is exaggerating and I think this is the story for Patrick and Kathleen - mountain climb gate - how she can't just tell a story straight, she has to embellish it to increase its difficulty, momliness, complexity, and make herself appear bigger stronger faster.”

BanditBasheert: “She is NOT exaggerating ... she is LYING. She is claiming she is going to CLIMB SWEETTOOTH.”

Barb_Dwyer (on a previous TLC Discovery Ch show): “The entire show was a total fabrication. He was never further than a few feet from civilization at any time, he was sleeping in hotels and being flown from shoot to shoot by helicopter.”

sickntiredofPalin posted this gem from hotair.com: “One adviser to Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, and, by traditional standards, the putative 2012 frontrunner, says of Palin, ‘She’s not a serious human being.’ Another Romney intimate warns, ‘If she’s standing up there in a debate and the answers are more than 15 seconds long, she’s in trouble.’”

Aside from BBT on Mitt: Romney called his staff out on this because he doesn’t want to offend potential voters. Remember that he rode back into Massachusetts on a high horse, forced Acting Governor Jane Swift out of the race (possibly offending women voters). Then he won the Rep. nomination to run for governor against the Dem candidate, a woman. He got another woman, Kerry Healey, to run as his Lt. Gov. He will do what he thinks it will take to win; don’t be surprised if his running mate is a woman. I’m not saying Palin; he’s very strict about controlling the message, and he must know she is uncontrollable.

maelewis had interesting comments on W’s and Sarah’s intellectual deficits and Sarah’s narcissism: “I think that Sarah has the same overwhelming sense of panic at being found out, so she fills the air with nonsense and empty words, covers her lack of knowledge with a high skirt, high heels, high hair, and heavy makeup. Sarah uses frantic gestures and motions (a psychologist would call it an affect)…”

anne_123 (offering talking points): “…Mention she and her husband are jobless; Mention her kids have been cared for by other people for close to a year now; Mention every time she speaks she gets the same sort of money an actor on a sit-com might make; Mention she is never seen "doing" anything; Mention her constant attacks and finger pointing while not offering any solutions of her own…”

sari737: “...it's interesting if you google "famous narcissists" you find the likes of Hitler and Stalin… the [Teabaggers are too] stupid to realize that their "queen" is just like them!!”

JCos: “…if she had any sense, she wouldn't go on about people advising her to consider an abortion. It's an option available to women, as you well know Palin, because you've had one.”

sunnyjane has a great post (1:41 Sat): “Why Sunnyjane is Not Qualified to be President” followed soon by lilybart on why she IS qualified. Brilliant! ;-D

daisydem: “Especially since no one knew she was pregnant until she was 7 months ... who told her to abort: could not have been family (they didn't know); staff (they didn't know); friends (they didn't know); constituents/opponents in AK (they didn't know); supporters/enemies on the national scene (she wasn't known nationally); so was it her doctor? Todd? Herself?”

McNett: “If President Obama should be held to account for "palling around with terrorists," then Palin should be held accountable for her abortions, faked pregnancy, affairs, criminal and delinquent children, and racist beliefs.”

anne_123 had another interesting post, linking to 2008 comments from "Spenserrr": “the baby being bristols and not sarahs can basically be confirmed. like i said, theres the aerobics instructor that had her in her class during that time who says theres no way she was pregnant. both my parents know this lady and she works at the university a mile from my house…”

And another early Sunday on how a rival candidate could deftly use Sarah’s empty and frivolous comments and FB postings against her in a debate (Mitt, take note).

I love this from Sjkfromthebellyoftheplane: “Facebook the nation…”

EyeOnYou: “She needs to have the sympathy vote because she is nothing without it…” and later: “She craves attention and this is how she gets it, or at least the majority of it. She uses sympathy as a tool in her desire for attention. The more the better.”

How much stupid can Governor Dumbass of Backasswards Sarah Palin fit into 140 characters? - Palin refudiates Shakespeare's language on twitter

Half-term Governor Sarah Palin apparently still has unsupervised access to her twitter account. My prediction is that this situation will have no future. 140 characters are too much - and WHERE IS THE GODDAMN DICTIONARY!

So today she twittered the following:

Refudiate screenshot

Screenshot courtesy of Little Green Footballs!

Then she "tweeleted" the tweet (hi Ripley in CT!).

"Refudiate"? Sounds somehow not entirely appropriate. The rest wasn't great either.

Governor Smartypants then released the following replacement tweet into the world:

Sarah Palin - Refute Mosque tweet

Was that all? NO! Another message followed:

Sarah Palin - provocation tweet

I really can not say it any better than others have already expressed it. Allow me to quote the highly respected moderate-conservative website Little Green Footballs:

"It should be pointed out (again) that the “Ground Zero mosque” these idiots are ranting about is actually a proposed community center with an auditorium, swimming pool, and restaurants, in addition to a mosque. It would be housed in an existing 13-story building that’s two blocks away from Ground Zero and has no view of the area; there are two very big buildings in between the proposed community center and Ground Zero."

Lots of twitter users shot back at Sarah Palin - with well placed arrows:

Temporal Flush tweet 1

Temporal Flush tweet 2

Amongst the many great comments on Little Green Footballs is this one:

So it seems, in effect, she is asking peaceful Muslims to do what the NAACP is asking of the Tea Party: to distance themselves from their extremist elements.

I can cope with that concept, but I do not see the Mosque 51 or whatever they have renamed it as an act of irrefudiation of in that respect.

(Refudiate? Is that what would happen if the Hatfields & McCoys took to shootin' at each other again?)

So it seems that Sarah Palin managed to start a real twitter war today - as a kind of virtual foreplay of what would happen if Sarah "God speaks through me" Palin really became the President of the great USA!

English is a living language

Now she thinks she is Shakespeare!

Sarah, Shakespeare liked to coin new phrases as well:

"Comparisons are odorous"

Guess you didn't know that, did you?

Roger Ebert never disappoints:

shakespeare would have died

Keith Olbermann weighs in:

Governor Stupid has just started the biggest twitter backlash ever.

In order to see it in real-time, just go to http://twitter.com and search for example for "@sarahpalinusa". It's a riot!

Here are some more tweets of this epic twitter smackdown which will go down in history:
