$arah Pac

I don't have much time for blogging today. We have to take the car to the mechanic in a nearby village and then we're staying over there for dinner with friends. But I'll leave you with a couple of bits, just to keep the conversation going:

SarahPac's website was redesigned and it's now absolutely awful:

Money is still the first priority, of course... Sarah also likes to be invited to attend events, and the section includes media requests!

There's no mention of her family. In the good old days, they were the First Family and all the children were state officials:

[The media again...]

As governor she couldn't charge for her appearances, but liked to help herself to state money so she could see her children. When she was ordered to reimburse the state $10,000 for some of her children's travel expenses, she issued a press release:

“This is a big state, and I am obligated to — and intend to — keep Alaskans informed and meet with them as much as I can, from Barrow to Marshall to Ketchikan,” Palin said in a written statement. “At the same time, I am blessed to have a large and loving family, and the discharge of my duties should not prevent me from spending time with them.”

As long as somebody else paid for it...

Quitting on the state of Alaska was definitely a good move for Sarah Palin. She has made many millions of dollars and nobody can question her ethics anymore. She would be wise to continue to extract money from her supporters for as long as she can without actually running for office. If she does, the ghosts of ethics past would come back to haunt her.

Yesterday, our reader sick of Sarah posted this:

Sarah and Bristol read that Obama only made 1.7 million this year.

Sarah turned to Bristol and said, "I can make that much doing 10 speeches.. why would anyone work that hard for so little money?"

Bristol said, "Yeah mom, I made that much dancing and speaking and did not even break a sweat. You're right mom, Obama must be a fool to work that hard for so little money."

President Obama has a very different attitude regarding his own good fortune and is respectful of other people's money.

There couldn't be a greater contrast between Sarah Palin, the grifting celebrity, and president Obama, the guy with a true servant's heart.

Sarah Palin is "just like us", but wants to be more like Queen Elizabeth II

Sarah Palin is depicted on some medallions:

This 1 oz. gold medallion honors Alaska's Sarah Palin. As Alaska's first woman Governor, she had a reputation of being against "business as usual". She was thrust into the national spotlight when she was chosen to be John McCain's vice presidential running mate. A donation from the sale of these medallions will be made to Wounded Warrior Project, helping seriously injured service members. The price for this 1 oz. pure gold medallion is $400.00 over the market price of gold, please call for quote. Order today before gold rises any further.

Another very famous woman also has her likeness on gold coins:

B.U. British Sovereign "Elizabeth II" Gold Coins $549.95

Although no portion of the gold sovereign sales goes to charity, the Queen is Patron of more than 620 charities and organisations.

The protocol when meeting Queen Elizabeth II:

Only shake the queen's hand if she offers it to you first. If you are wearing gloves, do not remove them.

Do not begin a conversation with the queen. Instead, wait until she starts speaking to you.

Hairdresser Rhonda Halliday had a bizarre experience when she was summoned to look after Sarah Palin's hair:

After being ushered to a room on the 15th floor and given some instructions (don't talk to Palin unless she talks first) she did Palin's hair while the former Alaska governor chatted with her family.

Rumour has it that Queen Elizabeth II doesn't carry money in her purse, apart from Sundays:

The Queen carries a comb, a handkerchief, a small gold compact, and a tube of lipstick in her handbag. The Queen does carry money on Sundays--a folded note of unknown denomination which she discreetly places in the collection plate.

Queen Sarah doesn't appear to have cash in her purse either:

Halliday was the last one out of the room because she had to put her equipment away, then watched as they all drove off without anyone mentioning payment or a tip, which is common when the hairdresser travels to the client for the appointment.

A commenter remarked that Sarah Palin had done something similar in Anchorage:

"Just like when she worked downtown Anchorage. She would go for her fancy coffees, get a few extras for her buddies, and then tell the coffee girls she did not have her purse and would walk out. She did this consistently. Palin pays for NOTHING. Grifter."

I wouldn't say Her Majesty the Queen (the real one) is a grifter. Her staff make sure any bills incurred are paid immediately, so the queen herself doesn't have to fish for money out of her purse.

Sarah Palin needs to take a good look at herself and see that she's no queen, just a spoiled celebrity. She could also instruct her staff to pay any bills promptly, so hard working Americans are not left waiting for their money in these difficult times...

Her fans think she's accessible and just like them:

"Please notice that Sarah is not afraid to reach out and touch the American people when she meets them. In fact, it's rarely just a quick shake of the hand. More often she holds the person's hand throughout the time she speaks with them, with a firm grip with a warm hand as she ... looks them straight in the eye and makes even the most shy open up in the glow of her personality. Just one more great attribute of this great person. BTW: I'll never wash that hand again!!!"

"I love your book, Sarah....feel like I know you...what a normal family and normal life...just like ours....you are truly an inspiration to all women..."

How many of them fail to pay their bills, travel in a private luxury jet, build an enormous house and expect people not to talk to them unless they're addressed first?

Sarah Palin's fans are very misguided and naive. She's a celebrity who thinks she's entitled to be treated with deference, who still carries the title of governor after quitting office after only half a term. Sarah Palin travels with her family to reinforce the idea that she's "one of them". The children are mere props and the adults are just as dishonest as queen Sarah.

I'm not pro-monarchy, but Queen Elizabeth II has centuries of tradition and decades of hard work behind her. She is not a "nouveau riche" wannabe from the Valley pretending to be like her own supporters to make them part with their hard earned money for her own benefit.

Sarah Palin, money, business...

Sarah Palin is looking for business deals, according to her Linkedin profile:

Sarah Palin’s Contact Settings

Interested In:

  • job inquiries
  • expertise requests
  • business deals
  • reference requests
  • getting back in touch
Our Sarah doesn't appear to have a good track record as a businessperson, as seen in a Washington Post article:

In addition to being a mayor and raising four children, Sarah Palin found time for another venture in her Wasilla years -- she was part-owner of an Anchorage car wash.

Palin and husband Todd each held a 20 percent stake in Anchorage Car Wash LLC, according to state corporation records filed in 2004.

A review of Palin's gubernatorial disclosure filings indicates that she failed to report her stake in the company on the form that requires candidates for governor to disclose any interest in a nonpublicly traded company.

A Feb. 11, 2007 letter to the governor's business partner advises that the car wash had "not filed its biennial report and/or paid its biennial fees," which were more than a year overdue.
The warning letter was written on state letterhead, which carried Palin's name at the top, next to the state seal.

On April 3, 2007, the state went further and issued a "certificate of involuntary dissolution" because of the car wash's failure to file its report and pay state licensing fees.

Another report elaborates a bit more on the business side of the venture:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s ownership in a carwash was nothing more than a real estate investment. Although she and her husband, Todd Palin, did hold a 40 percent stake in a company called Anchorage Car Wash LLC, the business never got off the ground, according to Carolin Wells, one of Palin’s partners in the aborted venture.

The irony of the warning letter to her own business being written on state letterhead is too delicious!

Sarah's other business venture never materialized either. Rouge Cou was just a name and remained as such. It indicates the quitter governor's lack of taste and finesse, plus her ignorance of the French language... (In order to read as Red Neck, it should have been Cou Rouge).

Politico quoted an ADN article:

Palin obtained a business license for marketing and consulting, saying that she wanted to line up her ducks if she chose to pursue it. “Asked about the business registered under her name, Palin said, ‘Rouge Cou, it’s a classy way of saying redneck. It’s a French word, rouge is red, cou is neck. It’s for marketing and consulting, in case I wanted to go that route, I’d have my ducks all lined up and have a business license. I just was granted that business license. … I would like to, with some of the endeavors that I have going on right now, there comes a time when one desires to be paid for them!’” [Anchorage Daily News, 6/8/05]

It seems the Palins are very good when it comes to real estate deals, but not so much when it involves actual business.

Sarah Palin And The Chateau Of Mystery – Exclusive News and Photos From Wasilla

Guestpost by Patrick

+++For our new visitors: Read all posts by Palingates HERE.+++

Sarah Palin and her family are busy. As was reported first by Gryphen from Immoral Minority, the Palins are currently constructing a new chateau-type building on a property right next to their house in Wasilla. As Gryphen found out, the ground on which this new building is being erected was apparently bought by the Palins on July 14, 2009 – two weeks after she resigned.

Our brave contacts in Alaska, the number of which is basically growing by the day, have now sent us aerial photos of Sarah Palin’s property in Wasilla which were taken recently – you won’t see these anywhere else.

So what is going on there, and why does it matter?

Well, our contacts in Alaska who are very close to what is currently happening on Sarah Palin’s property have reported the following:

On the bottom floor an airplane hangar is being built, with a 40 foot opening, and the doors are already ordered. One should know of course that airplane hangers in Alaska are very common. The Palins own a little seaplane, a “Piper Supercub, N8194D”. It has recently be asserted on another blog that there might be a little scandal lurking in the background, because according to public access databases, Todd Palin presently only has a license to fly single engine landplanes, however, if he flies as a pilot with passengers in a seaplane, he would need a licence to fly single engine seaplanes, and not just for a landplane.

But let’s get back to the building project: On the second floor of this new building there will apparently be room for Todd Palin (our source called it “Todd’s man cave”) and also an apartment for Bristol. On the third floor, there will apparently be an office for Sarah.

I would like to stress that the fact that an aircraft hangar with living space is being built there was reported to us by two different sources, both with direct access to this project. It has also been mentioned by Todd Palin himself that it is an airplane hangar. Therefore, we can safely assume at this point that this is credible information.

A third source who has seen the compound from very close range said that they have dug a huge pit for a very large foundation and that contractors are crawling all over the property to get it done before the major snowfalls hit.

But that is not everything! If you want the news, forget the ADN or the other daily newspapers in Alaska. You will get it right here (or at Gryphen’s blog, at Bree’s blog, at Mudflats, at Shannyn Moore’s blog etc.).

First point: I will word this very carefully. From a source which is very close to the project we have heard that there were “all kinds of OSHA violations” going on with the contractors that are framing/excavating that site. The “OSH Act” is the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which is a federal law. It is being enforced by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).

Now: I cannot assess whether this statement is correct or which specific violations there could have been. As I was told, complaints are currently being lodged with the OSHA in regard to the alleged violations on this building site, so we should hear more about this in the near future.

Secondly, I have another very interesting piece of information which I have never read anywhere before. It comes again from a reliable source, and it is very interesting indeed: from the pictures on Gryphen’s blog and from the aerial shot, you can see that the neighbouring “white house” is located extremely close to the new building, and that raises the question whether the neighbours have agreed to this unusually close new building, or what their opinion is.

And here comes the cracker: From what we have heard, there are no neighbours to ask – the Palins themselves have rented the neighbouring white building, and it currently stays empty. According to our source, the Palin family have rented it not because they need it right now, but because they don’t want anybody else to live so close to them. In addition, we have been told that the Palin’s plan is to buy the neighbouring white house at a future point.

If you ask me which members of the Palin family are supposed to use which of the buildings in the future, I honestly don’t have an answer right now. We should not forget that apart from Todd and Bristol there is also Track, who, as far as we know, has been in a close relationship with Britta Hanson (click here to see Britta's slideshow!) for a number of years now. So, maybe Track will use some of the space there, too? We can only guess.

(Link to Britta's blog )

Another question to ask is why does the Palin family apparently not want anyone to live so close to them? Well, if you have been paying attention to this and other blogs during the last few months, you won’t have great difficulty to find reasons for their rather unusual behaviour.

UPDATE - Sarah Palin, ever the environmentalist, seems to have cut quite a few trees in order to build her chateau:

Hell yeah, Sarah Palin!

Fox News:

Despite an invitation to speak at the conference, Sarah Palin, former vice presidential candidate, and until recently Alaska governor, decided not come to the National Federation of Republican Women's 35th Convention, according to the organization.

"It is disappointing," says Barbara Davis, who heads the Melbourne, Fla., chapter. "We were hoping that she would come. It would have benefited her to attend."

"We don't know what's going on with her," says Barbara Knauff, a NFRW member from Leesburg, Fla. "She's not the kind to go quietly into the night, but she's smart. She'll come out when she can make the greatest impact."

While Palin will not be going to Florida, she will be delivering a keynote speech in Hong Kong, China, later this month, according to her spokeswoman, Meg Stapleton.

Well, the women's convention looks like a freebie, the Hong Kong gig, on the other hand...

$

Yes, Sarah Palin will "come out when she can make the greatest impact". On her bank balance, more likely. Which brings me to another snippet of Levi's story on Vanity Fair, talking about Sarah after she lost the election:
Sarah was sad for a while. She walked around the house pouting. I had assumed she was going to go back to her job as governor, but a week or two after she got back she started talking about how nice it would be to quit and write a book or do a show and make “triple the money.” It was, to her, “not as hard.” She would blatantly say, “I want to just take this money and quit being governor.” She started to say it frequently, but she didn’t know how to do it. When she came home from work, it seemed like she was more and more stressed out
In her breathless resignation announcement, Sarah Palin said:

In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous…) well, in response to asking: “Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children’s future from OUTSIDE the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that…

What she may have asked the children: "Want me to make difference to our finances by making a pile of money from those suckers, outside this stupid governor's office?"

Hell yeah!
