Sarah Palin and that pesky Constitution...

A comment on the thread " Sarah Palin's new mouthpiece" had this information:

**** NEWS ALERT ****

Please pass this on to the folk(s) who had their ethics complaint dismissed due to announcing their intent to file…

Federal judge rules state Ethics Commission ban on discussing complaints against public officials violates free speech
by Pete Shellem, Of The Patriot-News Monday June 29, 2009, 4:47 PM

A federal judge has ruled that the state Ethics Act’s ban on publicizing filings against state officials is likely unconstitutional and has granted a temporary injunction to a local activist who was fined for violating it.

District Judge Christopher C. Conner granted the injunction to Middle Paxton Township activist Gene Stilp, who was charged with violating the act after he announced he filed a complaint against former House Majority Leader William DeWeese based upon a newspaper article that accused DeWeese of spending $290,000 in tax money on political polls.

Within a day, the State Ethics Commission ruled there was not enough evidence in Stilp’s complaint to conduct an investigation and instead charged Stilp with violating the act by publicizing the filing of his complaint. On Oct. 16, Stilp entered into an agreement with the commission in which he admitted violating the act and agreed to pay a $500 fine. Stilp then filed suit in federal court to enjoin the commission from enforcing that provision of the act, saying it was a violation of his right to free speech.

Well, Rep Bob Lynn can put his proposed bill in his pipe and smoke it!

Global warming and the Holy Spirit. (updated)

Prophesy for Alaska

May 22, 1997: Rev. Harold Caballeros
(given at Intercessors 500, Atlanta, Georgia)

I saw a map of this great nation. . .and I saw this hand crossing the map with some lines, and I started to watch closely. . .the second line started in the state of Texas and went up from Texas to Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois. But something happened and this same line started to go again from Texas, and it made a turn to Montana and then from Montana to ALASKA. And dear brothers, the fire of the Holy Spirit came, fell down on Alaska in such a way that the ice and the snow started to melt. I asked, "What can this mean?" He said, "I am going to melt the ice and the snow and it will turn into water because the water from the snow and ice will be a mighty outpouring of rain, but not normal rain, not regular rain, the rain of the Holy Spirit." I am prophesying in the Name of Jesus, the rain of the Holy Ghost will descend from Alaska. Then, He said, "the divine connection between Alaska and Puerto Montt, Chile, because Alaska is in the north extreme, while Puerto Montt is in the southern most extreme. . .the showers will go north from Puerto Montt, and the showers will go south from Alaska and they will meet in the middle of the continent. Revival! Revival! Revival! A mighty revival of the Holy Spirit!"

This drivel comes courtesy of a website called Windwalkers International. Some background on Mary Glazier, who wrote the Overview on the website:

Mary Glazier heads an Alaska-based prayer ministry called Windwalkers International. Charisma caught up with her on her way to a prayer meeting in Anchorage, the purpose of which was to pray specifically for Palin. This is nothing new, according to Glazier. "We actually began to pray for [Palin] before she became mayor of Wasilla," Glazier says. "We felt then that she was the one God had selected."

For several years, Glazier and other members of Windwalkers have prayed for Palin regularly—first when she was the mayor, then when she was the governor of Alaska, and when she was a vice presidential candidate. Last spring, Palin called Glazier and asked her to pray with her over the phone, and they met at the governor's prayer breakfast.

"She asked me to pray with her for wisdom and direction," Glazier recalls. "I sensed a real heart of surrender to the will of God in her. God often chooses the least likely people to be at the forefront, and I do believe that God has equipped [Palin] for this hour."

Glazier told Charisma that members of Windwalkers had received words of knowledge about Palin being "called to impact the nation." At that point, they had no idea she would be running for the office of vice president of the United States.

The Christian candidate Mary Glazier mentions in the beginning is Wally Hickel, who won the election running on the AIP ticket.

They believe the melting of the glaciers is an expression of the Holy Spirit. This Mary Glazier character is clearly not sane and Sarah Palin continues to make appointments based on faith. In 2006 she appointed Rev Pat Donelson to the Suicide Prevention Council.

Donelson, of Wasilla, is a minister with extensive experience in Bush Alaska doing work in drug, alcohol and suicide prevention. He was director of Northwind School of Ministry in Wasilla from 2000-06, and for eight years was youth director for the Alaska District Assemblies of God, responsible for youth ministry to 87 churches. He founded and served for eight years as president of Carry the Cure, Inc. Using donated money and aircraft, this corporation took a multimedia inspirational program to villages across the state, encouraging youth to lead positive, sober and straight lives. Donelson received his ministerial training at the Ichthus Bible Training Center in Salem, Oregon, and has been ordained by the Assemblies of God and by Northwind Global Ministries. He was appointed to a seat reserved for a member of the clergy.

People who are suicidal are extremely vulnerable, easy prey to a church hellbent on converting "lost souls".

Now she has a bible thumping, testosterone pumping spokesperson.

UPDATE: I had to add this video!

I find all this VERY disturbing...
.

Sarah Palin's new mouthpiece

Juneau Empire reports on Bill McAllister's replacement as Sarah Palin's top spokesperson:

The turnover continues in Gov. Sarah Palin's public relations staff, with her top spokesman, Bill McAllister, forced out after less than a year in the position.

Replacing McAllister is David Murrow, an author of Christian books who lives in Chugiak.

Murrow said he was too busy to talk to the Empire on Friday, but earlier told the Alaska Budget Report Newsletter he began the job June 10 and is paid $103,716 annually.

According to the American Library Association's Booklist, "Murrow advocates injecting a strong shot of testosterone into the proceedings to restore the masculine spirit to the church," in his first book, "Why Men Hate Church," published in 2004.

In 2008 he published "How Women Help Men Find God."

Murrow is Palin's fourth communications director, following McAllister, Rosanne Hughes and Meg Stapleton. Hughes remains in Palin's communications office as director of external communications, while Stapleton is now working for Palin's political action committee.

Deputy Press Secretary Sharon Leighow remains in the office, while two other deputy press secretaries have departed.

A Christian, eh? What a surprise! Testosterone as well, how exciting!
.

Sarah Palin, please hurry up!

The twit knows all about separation of church and state:

Sarah Palin sent John Moller to represent the state at this event:

Trail of Healing
Date: Saturday, June 27, 2009
Place: Wonderland Park
Description: Sign up now to bless our Native community. Help is needed for crafts, native games, food, and more.

They also had a concert the next day:

Snapshot of the Broken Walls website:

Sarah Palin's states: "it shall be manifested in more respect for AKs First People".

Is she really saying that Alaska Natives will only earn respect if they "are lifted up to their place in the Body of Christ"? Does "respect" mean the Natives will rise to the heavens when the Rapture comes?

What does she mean by "Native leaders say important to remember past as we move forward, but must not live in the past"?

When Sarah Palin took the Evangelical Circus and her cookies to the wrong villages in Western Alaska during the energy crisis, she told the villagers that they had to follow Todd's example and "seize opportunities upon the North Slope". This is one of her ideas of moving forward. Leave the villages, abandon their way of life, disperse and stop being a thorn in her side. (And open up more land to "safely and responsibly develop our natural resources" as a bonus)

Sarah Palin believes that not only should the Natives abandon their traditional way of life, but also embrace the teachings of HER church in order to earn respect and "be saved".

Throughout history, missionaries have caused untold damage to entire aboriginal communities, everywhere in the world. People were coerced into abandoning their benign, natural gods to worship somebody else's intolerant, vindictive god. In order to look after the temples built by these sanctimonious missionaries, nomadic tribes had to stay put and their whole lives and ability to survive were seriously compromised. Missionaries brought fear into the lives of people who were in perfect harmony with nature and their own gods.

The Assemblies of God and some other evangelical, pentecostal churches are very hot on missions and have indoctrination programs to spread the word.

There is provision in the Constitution regarding the separation of church and state. The idea is to ensure FREEDOM to exercise faith.

The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a national religion by the Congress or the preference of one religion over another, non-religion over religion, or religion over non-religion.

This principle was extended to the states through various Supreme Court decisions.

Sarah Palin has admitted that she believes Jesus Christ will return to Earth in her lifetime. That's what she and her churh believe is "The Rapture".

I found a website called Rapture Ready and the following definition came from their FAQs page:

What is the "rapture" and when will it happen?

The rapture is an event that will take place sometime in the near future. Jesus will come in the air, catch up the Church from the earth, and then return to Heaven with the Church. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, we are given a clear description of the rapture: "the dead in Christ will rise, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord."

The main thrust of this website is to prove that the rapture will occur prior to the beginning of the tribulation. This has been well researched and documented throughout the site. But, whether Jesus returns for the Church before, during, or after the tribulation, the primary goal is that all people are ready to face the Lord and give an account for their lives.

Another site, Religious Tolerance, points out:
The rapture concept is a relatively new belief. It is essentially ignored by most other Christian faith groups. It does not form a part of any other religion. It is dismissed by essentially all liberal Christian theologians. Many mainline and liberal Bible handbooks, commentaries, dictionaries and encyclopedia do not even list "rapture" in their indices.

The Rapture can't come soon enough. What they call "The End of Days" will mark a new beginning for sane people who don't buy this Rapture concept.

When these narrow minded, intolerant, holier-than-thou lunatics ascend directly to the heavens forever, we'll finally be free to mind our own business!

Hurry up!

Palin Hoax

We're all excited about a new site comparing Letterman's fake pregnancy to Sarah Palin's pregnancy with Trig. How big is this site? Is Letterman likely to "bite"?

Of course we want it to hit the big time and what better vehicle than The Late Show?

I've managed to obtain two e-mail adresses and we could send the link to both of them with suggestions...

What do we have to lose?

Does this explain Sarah Palin's whining?

Someone believes Sarah Palin's problems may be simpler than we thought.

WWW. GOP12.COM a republican website attacked Dr. Burton S. Schuler, a foot specialist of Panama City, Fl about a comment he made concerning Gov. Sarah Palin and a medical condition she has, known as the Morton's Toe.

According to Dr. Schuler the website eeemusings.com, published a photo, on June 11, 2009 showing Gov. Palin having an long second toe, which according to Schuler is the hallmark of a Morton's Toe.

Dr. Schuler knows what he is taking about. He is a leading expert on the Morton's Toe and it complications and the author of the new book Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts In The Foot, the story of the Morton's Toe. He feels that Gov. Palin, just like anyone else with a Morton's Toe maybe hurting, and under some abnormal stress because of it.

"It has been well documented, in numerous medical journals, and textbooks, for over 80 years, that a Morton's Toe can cause many painful conditions of not only the foot but the whole body. The larger question is can the pain and suffering caused by a Morton's Toe be so severe that it causes a person to temporary loose perspective. Schuler states this is in response to Palin reaction to David Letterman's bad joke about her daughter."

OK, so her toes cause problems. But I think her main problem lies much further up...

Sarah Palin, always appropriately dressed...

Vice president Joe Biden visited the troops in Kosovo in May. A month later, Gov Sarah Palin decided to visit the troops in Kosovo. One didn't think he had to pretend to be a soldier by wearing a t-shirt and combat trousers. The other....

Sarah Palin attacks!

Martha, a long term mudpuppy, sent me a list of Sarah Palin's attacks on a number of different people. I added a few others I could remember. Feel free to add your own. Attackgate?

  • Bloggers (multiple hits)
  • Lyda Green - most notably laughing at her being called a bitch on radio show
  • Walter Monegan - Troopergate
  • Andrew Halcro (multiple hits)
  • President Obama (multiple hits)
  • Andree McLeod - supposedly turned on SP when not granted a job: "falafel lady"
  • All other ethic's complaint filers
  • Katie Couric - the world doesn't revolve around you
  • Tina Fey - "job security"
  • Ashley Judd on aerial wolf hunting - "extreme fringe group" using AK and her administration to raise funds
  • Hillary Clinton - called her a whiner
  • Media (multiple hits)
  • Caroline Kennedy & the media
  • Kim Elton - when he took the Interior Dept position
  • Beth Kerttula (democratic representative for Juneau) over the Kim Elton Senate post
  • Senate Democrats - secret meetings - rejecting Senate picks
  • Juneau Democrats - for backing Senate Democrats
  • Bob Poe (democratic gubernatorial candidate) - "political grandstanding"
  • Whoever and everyone for "bad mouthing" WAR - AG candidate
  • Levi Johnston - preemptive strike
  • David Letterman - dumb joke
  • Celtic Diva - photoshopping an iconic image
  • Dennis Zaki - preemptive strike over trip to Emmonak (DZ's Alaska Report posted upcoming ethics complaints and IRS/embezzlement problems)

Most politicians don't react to jokes and certainly don't resort to slanging matches with their constituents on their official websites. But this is Sarah Palin...

Sarah Palin's style is incredibly negative, reactive and divisive.

In addition to attacking all and sundry, other things she's fond of doing are: misquoting the Founding Fathers, misinterpreting the Constitution and borrowing material from other people.

Sarah borrowed a joke from David Letterman (the "perverted pedophile", a major threat to ALL young women) to get back at John Kerry during a speech to the troops in Kosovo.

In 2004, John Kerry made a joke about GW and it backfired. Letterman said this at the time:

"To his credit, John Kerry was very, very upset about the joke and he apologized. ... As a matter of fact, all day long, he's been walking around with a long face."

Oh, the irony...

While photoshopping is a hot topic, check this out.

The pitbull needs a muzzle...

It looks like Sarah Palin's latest rant (via Meg Stapleton) has backfired. A refresher:

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child."

Wonkette has a good post about it with lots of links, including one to a forum dedicated to photoshopping the iconic photo. This is going to go on for a while...

Keep digging, Sarah!
.

Another outrage

This is an outrage! How dare anybody point out that the sacred children of the annointed governor may get tired??? This is an affront to the stamina of ALL children! Palingates should be drawn and quartered for using the image of little Piper Palin to suggest children don't enjoy being dragged around the country and falling behind at school! Is there no respect for truancy left in this world?

We should all write to The Political Props Advancement League and complain about this egregious attack on an innocent prop! E-mail them to express your disgust: polprop@ppal.org.

When will we hear a statement from President Obama making clear that political props are off limits???

Let's flood all palingates sponsors with complaints! Would they like to be associated with someone who relentlessly assaults the rights of ALL children to truancy and political propping? Our brave soldiers are fighting for these rights!

Oh, palingates doesn't have sponsors, is not American and lives on France, what do we do? Let's write to the United Nations and President Sarkozy (he's Sarah's good friend, he even rang her during the campaign). This is an international outrage!!!

Come on barbarians, let's spring into action!
.

Sarah Palin annointed?

Sarah Palin has achieved sainthood and photos of her with her prop Trig are described as iconic, according to her spokesperson. In the last thread, Buffalogal posted a link to an excellent site, where they explore the many ramifications of Sarah Palin's chosen faith. The videos below illustrate some of the articles.

I always find all things related to Sarah Palin's religion very disturbing. Pastor Muthee is particularly sinister. He makes reference to Brazil and how important it is to make inroads into a very Catholic country. I have observed Assemblies of God temples proliferating in Brazil. They target the ignorant and the dispossessed.

Poverty and lack of schooling contribute to a vicious cycle of illiteracy in Brazil. Some areas of Brazil have more than half of the population that cannot write their own name.

That's how these churches assemble their armies. They have rich pickings where ignorance and poor education exist.

Education doesn't appear to be a high priority in Alaska or among some of Sarah Palin's followers elsewhere. Muthee and others like him aim at controlling all aspects of society: goverment, financial institutions, the media and so on...

D. James Kennedy, the evangelical pastor who blessed Bush before his run for president, summed up the essence of the teachings behind the Assemblies of God, its missions and its associates in this quote:

"Our job is to reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost. As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society."

The annointing of Sarah Palin should send shivers down our spines. She keeps a fairly low profile regarding her church attendance and allegiances because openly embracing the Pentecostal principles and targets would constitute political suicide. But she's still working at them and she would become bolder if she ever achieved higher office.

If Sarah Palin had been a squeaky clean politician, without any "gates", the religion aspect alone would be more than enough to set the alarm bells ringing...
.

Thursday 25 June 2009

Sarah Palin is in safe hands...

Meg Stapleton:

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child.

The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling. To learn that two Alaskans did it is absolutely sickening. Linda Kellen Biegel, the official Democrat Party blogger for Alaska, should be ashamed of herself and the Democratic National Committee should be ashamed for promoting this website and encouraging this atrocious behavior.

Babies and children are off limits. It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

It's official. C4P start some outrage over jokes and Sarah Palin jumps in. If she's taking her cues from that lot, she's well and truly sunk.

I suspected they were the ones who started the Letterman whitch hunt and that Sarah Palin had reacted to their outrage after the Ziegler interview. Then, he was "good ol' David Letterman". The next day he was a perverted pedophile advocating the rape of a 14 year old in the middle of the Yankee Stadium, an affront to her daughters and ALL young women.

Now a visual gag about Eddie Burke has become an outrage over Trig and ALL children with special needs.

When Crooks and Liars posted the very same photo of Sarah Palin with Letterman playing the role of Trig, there was no outrage whatsoever.

The "iconic" photo of mother and son was not taken in a private setting, in the context of a loving mother holding her child. No. It was taken during the campaign, where Trig was passed from pillar to post like a sack of potatoes. There are several "iconic" photos of Sarah Palin parading Trig as a prop: "Look at me! I didn't abort the baby with Down's Syndrome!"

This outrage is part of the backlash against Alaska citizens who dare question Sarah Palin's ethics and "transparency".

They don't like Linda Kellen Biegel, aka Celtic Diva, one little bit. Their comments about her are very "grown-up and dignified":

"I'm sure Linda's husband does his own photo shop jobs. They involve cut & pasting an actual human woman next to him in their wedding photos."

"One thing, it is critical that Sarah herself not comment on this. Don't take Diva the Hutt's bait, Sarah. We'll take care of this for you."

"Celtic Sweathog's creepy little friends just realized we're about to go Alinski on their sorry asses. We pwn3d David Pedo-man, so just imagine what we can do to YOU."

"Sarah should just ignore the pig in this situation - others will come to her defense and expose the vileness."

"Celtic Sweathog: You are completely unhinged. You are dangerous, and you belong in a mental institution. It might be wise for Governor Palin to get a restraining order."

"I just encased myself in a full body condom and wandered over to Diva's Blue Toilet. The Trig caricature is still there, front and center."

"It was on the Thingy's site..but she has since removed it! Hmmmm....wonder why? Gutless Pig!"

Will the C4Pees take Crooks and Liars on? Will they respond to Sarah Palin's giggles when Bob & Mark made fun of Lyda Green, calling her fat and a cancer on air? (Lyda Green is a cancer survivor). What, no outrage on behalf of ALL cancer sufferers?

Now that we know for sure that Sarah Palin keeps an eye on C4P to learn what she's supposed to outraged about, that she adjusts the "facts" to suit their latest distortion of the truth, we also know that there's no serious, credible adviser in her camp.

Can you see Sarah Palin running in 2012 "advised" by a bunch of loose cannons?

Oh dear...

PS: A tearful, apologetic Eddie Burke pleaded no contest Thursday to misdemeanor charges for grabbing at a waitress’s crotch, then offering to pay her $400 to keep her from reporting him to the police.

Please visit Celtic Diva to donate to the Transparency Fund. Linda is very near the target!

.

Sarah Palin's Valley: fox guarding the henhouse, transparency, teflon, no wrongdoing. Sounds familiar?

On May 23 I wrote a post about Sarah Palin's Valley friends.

The executive director of the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce, Cheryl Metiva, had allegedly "inappropriately spent" money for personal expenses and without board approval.

Five board members resigned over the dodgy affair. (Some people have principles...)

The rest of the board, however, voted unanimously to keep Cheryl Metiva as executive director.

ADN reported a couple of days ago:

Board member Mike Gabel at a chamber meeting Tuesday said the board had voted unanimously to retain Cheryl Metiva as executive director in light of the results of an internal review.

He said it would be inappropriate to hold Metiva solely responsible for those expenses. He also said the total amount of the expenditures was "not significant" and was not to blame for the chamber's current financial crunch.

In an interview later, Gabel declined to provide the total amount of Metiva's expenses or give a ballpark figure. At the meeting, he asked three chamber members who are licensed financial professionals to volunteer to review the books.

It looks like Sarah Palin has taken the Valley code of conduct and extended it to the state. If we substitute the names and some words in the paragraphs above, they read exactly as some of the stories about Sarah Palin's ethics complaints...
.

Can Sarah Palin dodge this one?

The latest from Alaska Report:
AlaskaReport has learned that at least 3 more ethics complaints will be filed against Sarah Palin in the near future. Of course her cronies at the Personnel Board will probably sweep them under the rug - but at least the crimes will have a light shined upon them before they do... Also - A long simmering embezzlement/IRS scandal is still being looked at by the feds. Stay tuned...

It looks like our mystery guy had at least one valid point...

Sarah Palin's gates

Which of Sarah Palin's gates has the most potential to bring her down?

As far as she's concerned, ethics don't apply to her at all. Her Personnel Board agrees, the governor is never guilty of any wrongdoing. Ethics complaints and other stuff investigated by her own people seem to be a dead end.

Dairygate looks promising. It's a very looong story and involves one of our favourite characters: Kristan Cole. She was appointed to two commissions and is the trusted trustee of Sarah's legal fund. Some audits are still going on, will the dirt come out?

Blow-Pop-Plain has a good article on Dairygate, with loads of links. Andrew Halcro also has good articles on it. Enter the search term "mat-maid" and it's all there!

Housegate: nothing new to report, but let's hope the "feds" are having a closer look at Todd's buddies.

Babygate still has potential. It's not necessarily political, but Sarah Palin made it so by parading Trig all over the place and using him to enhance her pro-life and special needs champion credentials.

ACLU is taking care of Religiongate.

There's a new gate looming. Some guy has been posting some interesting stuff on various blogs. He visited us on June 20 and also left comments on Bob Lynn's blog.

palingates, June 20:

"The reason for the "Legal fund" is she and her family took my trust fund that in 1989 had a cash value factor of 108.401500 dollars...

what they don't realize ( YET ) is it was federally insured...

so let her dump it in a NYSE account and other "Ritcher Investments" and on and on...

When I file my federal findings in a federal court then it will be all over then...

that is why Troopergate came about that is why alot of her "actions" have been about...

A reaction to my actions...

she is watching me and the feds "have been" watching her...

I wait and let the system work...

Next is the FEDS asking her why she had the local Palmer DA squash a rape/sodomy attempted murder case?

Or the snowmobile trip ordered by todd to "get rid of me" later reported...Feds know about that...

Or could it be the non-stop with no lost wages or any state services or even no child-support with my folks urging me to "move"

Uh - guys and gals...

Can't kill what God created...

Can't kill what God consecrated...

Can't kill what God says...

and Palin tried and now she shall get "tried" in a federal court...

And all that happened to me was because I am worth a lot of money.

Remember: when you are worth a lot of money - people will do anything to keep it...

and they did for a while...

got Frank to reverse the Statutes of limitations in 2003 - then Palin adjusted it in 2006...

got Kennedy to take an aspirin and help a kid out...he had the President sign papers on service to country...and planted trees...

HAHAHAHA....

In God's time someone once told me.

they were right...

now it's my turn to show how to give to your country...

I did...

Now AMERICA it's your turn...

Turn up the heat...

Fry a political fish...(Palin)

I hear the Feds will be serving fries and soda with it...."

LOLLOL>>>>

Bob Lynn's blog, June 19:

"I would be REAL careful about what you do right now young man...

The DOJ, Dept of Treasury, IRS, Harvard University and others are watching Palin and Alaska...

I initiated these observations...

I will initiate much more young man..

FDIC means the trust fund Palin embezzled on is insured young man.

Meaning no matter what laws you pass to get Palin covered - it's just TOO LATE...
Tell Palin I am coming and the law is here with me...

It is time...

I love God...

I love my Country...

I love my peoples....

Proved it in 2003...

Ask FRANK about that...."

There are many possibilities: 1) he's genuine 2) he's a nutjob 3) he's throwing us a red herring.

The passages:

"Next is the FEDS asking her why she had the local Palmer DA squash a rape/sodomy attempted murder case?" could be related to Berry Jack.

"Or the snowmobile trip ordered by todd to "get rid of me" later reported...Feds know about that..." Sounds like Wooten.

This person seems to be all over the show...

What do you think?

Something to make you sick...

Sarah Palin blessed with large, loving family - The sequel

Today is the day Sarah Palin has to pay the state the $10,000 for her children's travel because she's TOTALLY ethical and innocent, according to her Personnel Board.

The (frivilous?) complaint over children's travel was filed by Frank Gwartney, a retired electrical power lineman from Anchorage, in October 2008.

Sarah Palin's argument was:

"This is a big state, and I am obligated to -- and intend to -- keep Alaskans informed and meet with them as much as I can, from Barrow to Marshall to Ketchikan," Palin said in a written statement. "At the same time, I am blessed to have a large and loving family, and the discharge of my duties should not prevent me from spending time with them."

A settlement was signed by Sarah Palin Palin and Anchorage lawyer Tim Petumenos, who was hired by the state Personnel Board to investigate the complaint.

Petumenos evaluated the children's travel in terms of whether it "serves an important state interest."

Palin offered acceptable justification for the vast majority of trips that included the children, Petumenos said. In all, he said he examined more than 40 trips, some of which involved several legs.

But for nine trips, the personal benefit outweighed the public benefit, he found. For some, only a portion of the children's expenses will be repaid because parts of the trip were determined to be legitimate, according to the agreement.

Could somebody explain to me how the presence of Sarah Palin's children at any event "serves an important state interest"? Sarah Palin herself said that the discharge of her duties shouldn't prevent her from spending time with her children.

What's the state interest in that?

The outcome of this ethics complaint shows us the complaints are not frivolous or malicious. Sarah Palin's responses to them are. Will she pay the bill out of her own pocket or will her trusted trustee find a way to use money from the begathon?

Kensington Mine, owned by Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation of Idaho, had planned to pile its leftover debris on a wetlands on the other side of the mountain from Berners Bay - a solution embraced by environmentalists - but has shifted to a cheaper alternative. Taking advantage of a little publicized regulatory change adopted under the Bush administration in 2004, Coeur d'Alene Mines has obtained a federal permit to dump 4.5 million tons of tailings directly into a small sub-alpine lake near the mine, just above Berners Bay.

Surrounded by forest and important wetlands, Lower Slate Lake is situated on a terrace at an elevation of 650 feet in the Tongass National Forest. Slate Creek flows from the lake about three miles downstream into Berners Bay. Berners Bay is one of Southeast Alaska's most outstanding public resources. Berners Bay encompasses a wide range of ecosystems, including snow-capped alpine peaks, old-growth Sitka spruce and hemlock forest, cottonwood floodplains, freshwater marshes, and saltwater estuaries. Opportunities for recreational hunting, fishing, gathering, kayaking, air boating, and camping abound, and commercial tourism in Berners Bay has increased in recent years.

What Sarah Palin was twittering on:

By a 6-3 vote, the justices reversed a federal appeals court decision that the waste disposal permit for the Kensington gold mine 45 miles north of Juneau violated the federal Clean Water Act.

The court, in its majority opinion written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, said that the Army Corps of Engineers was correct in agreeing with the mining company that the waste should be considered as "fill material" and not subject to more stringent Environmental Protection Agency standards under the federal Clean Water Act.

The Army Corps issued the permit in 2005, three years after the Bush administration broadened the definition of fill material so that waste, including some contaminated materials, can be put into waterways.

Sarah Palin's mantra about responsible development sounds hollow as usual. The mine had the opportunity to dispose of their tailings in a more environmentally friendly (but more expensive) way. In order to maximize their profits, they took advantage of a shortsighted change in the rules so they could kill a whole lake and beyond, as Berners Bay will also suffer damage.

Sarah Palin always sides with the big corporations. The environment and wildlife mean nothing to her. There's nothing responsible in cutting corners for the sake of bigger profits.

The extra jobs would have been created even if the Supreme Court had upheld the decision of the Court of Appeals. The difference is who pays the price. Coeur d'Alene knows exactly how much money they're saving, but the damage to the environment and wildlife can't be translated into dollars.

This case sets a serious precedent and makes the Clean Water Act worthless.

But what is the value of clean water for people who worship their profits and nothing else?

I would really like to hear Sarah Palin's definition of responsible development.

This is how they voted:

Anti-environment, pro-pollution:

Justices Anthony Kennedy, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Stephen Breyer, Samuel Alito Jr. and Chief Justice John Roberts.

Pro-environment, anti-pollution:

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, John Paul Stevens and David Souter.

I'm back!

I couldn't get used to Wordpress, sorry...

I've wasted a whole day faffing about over there and didn't manage a single decent post. I'm researching a lot of stuff, so you can imagine my frustration.

Some of the features were cool, but Blogger is a LOT easier for an old gal like me. I was very excited at first, but it's better to admit that I made a mistake sooner rather than later.

As you can see, I've tweaked a few bits and pieces, changed some of the graphics, etc. You can make suggestions, OK? Whatever makes life easier.

I have to go and cook dinner. It's getting really late and my husband will pass out any minute now.

You can use this thread to continue the discussion about the financial disclosure, misplaced decimal points and all that.
.

New home

We have moved to a new home! You can read palingates on

http://palingates.wordpress.com/

I hope it will be just as enjoyable over there as it has been on blogger. I still have to get used to the new bits and pieces, but I'm a quick learner! Let me know what you think about the new graphics and everything else.

If I can't get used to the new environment, I can always come back...

Sarah Palin: form filling as an art form

Sarah Palin had to submit a financial disclosure form to the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) on March 16, 2009, covering the period January 1 and December 31, 2008.

The detail shown above is a good example of how not to do it. Does it look professional as one would expect from a state governor? It appears to have been filled in by one of her younger daughters, in a snarky and childish tone, with a bad spelling mistake. Please note that there's no exact amount quoted. (Click on image to enlarge)

APOC asked for further clarification regarding some items, such as the Arctic Cat discounts and gifts received. The Palins are trying to dodge APOC's request and her expensive lawyer has sent them a letter with some lame excuse about the gifts and quoting a bunch of statutes that apply only to AGIA to avoid disclosing the Arctic Cat discounts.

In addition to all this "transparency and accountability", Sarah Palin's supporters are going to great lengths to boost contributions to her defense fund via a "Begathon". One of their aims is to provide the governor with enough funds to bring SLAPP suits against the citizens who dare challenge her ethics.

Wiki definition:
A Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation ("SLAPP") is a lawsuit that is intended to intimidate and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition. Winning the lawsuit is not necessarily the intent of the person filing the SLAPP. The plaintiff's goals are accomplished if the defendant succumbs to fear, intimidation, mounting legal costs or simple exhaustion and abandons the criticism. A SLAPP may also intimidate others from participating in the debate.

Considering Sarah Palin's form filling talents, the aggressiveness of her "getting richer by the minute" attorney and legislation being proposed by one of her loyal supporters to keep complaints confidential, it seems Alaska has a dictator with the mentality of a 14 year old.

Sarah Palin's fans often say that liberals are afraid of their muse because of her power and wisdom.

No, we're afraid of being complacent and allowing a spiteful, vindictive, immature, vain, divisive hockey mom/wannabe beauty queen/hot governor anywhere near the White House.

McCain didn't have the right people behind him to be able to steal the election the way Bush did, but let's not forget that, like Bush, Sarah Palin has strong ties to big oil...

Open thread

People are feeling bad for going off-topic on other posts and there's a lot of interest in some comments made by "anonymous @ 02:31" on June 20 and @02:04 0n this post.

So here's an open thread to discuss it without guilt...

I'm out for the evening and will enjoy your comments tomorrow morning.

Sarah Palin has evolved...

Sarah Palin's stance on ethics and transparency seems to go round in circles. When she was a commissioner and ethics supervisor at the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and blew the whistle on Randy Ruedrich, she demanded an openness that she wishes to suppress now that she is the subject of scrutiny.

Some reports and quotes on the Ruedrich affair:

"I have not received any further instructions except to be told to keep things 'confidential,' to deny media requests for information, and I have been threatened that I would face penalties if I were to divulge even whether or not there may be an ongoing investigation into the Ruedrich matter."

On Feb. 27, the investigation came to a head when Lyle produced a 16-page ethics complaint against Ruedrich. But as provided by the ethics law, the complaint remained confidential.

The Daily News and KTUU-Channel 2 sued in February to force open the evidence. On April 6, while those lawsuits were pending, Palin's lawyer, Wayne Anthony Ross, gave Ritchie an ultimatum: move to a public resolution of the ethics case in 10 days or Palin would call a press conference "for the purpose of setting forth, publicly, what she knows about this entire matter and why she chose to resign from the Commission." (ADN)

Palin and her supporters say she was trying to grope through the state's secretive ethics- complaint process and did not fear political repercussions. But the potential consequences to her up-and-coming career were obvious. (ADN)

Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Chairwoman Sarah Palin said Friday she is resigning amid frustration that she is being forced to keep silent about ethics allegations against Republican Party of Alaska chairman Randy Ruedrich.

"I'm forced to withhold information from Alaskans, and that goes against what I believe in as a public servant," Palin said in a Friday interview.

Palin said that one of her frustrations is that she cannot even tell the public if there is an investigation.

"I'd like to find a hero in the Legislature who can take on and change that law and make it more sensible," she said. (ADN)

Sarah Palin was sworn into office on December 4, 2006. She kept her word and pursued changes to the ethics and disclosure laws:

Governor Palin Applauds Legislature on Passage of Ethics Reform Bill

May 12, 2007, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today thanks members of the Legislature for passage of House Bill 109, the Governor’s ethics bill. In January, Governor Palin proposed legislation to improve Alaska’s ethics and disclosure laws. Legislators combined those proposals with many of their own, crafting a bill that makes many substantial improvements to Alaska’s laws.

“I applaud all of the work by the legislators on this important legislation,” said Governor Sarah Palin. “It is truly unfortunate that recent events further demonstrated the need for these statutory changes. However, it is gratifying that the legislative and executive branches were able to work together to take these steps to reassure Alaskans that their public servants still put Alaskans’ interests first.”

• House Bill 109 improves laws affecting lobbyists by:

* Requiring ethics training for lobbyists and their employers * Increasing restrictions on lobbyists’ gifts * Barring persons with certain felony convictions from lobbying * Barring spouses and domestic partners of legislators from lobbying for pay * Prohibiting certain high-level executive branch officials from lobbying for one year after leaving those positions

• Improves disclosure laws by:

* Requiring electronic filing of campaign and financial disclosures * Requiring legislators and legislative employees to disclose all boards on which they serve * Requiring final financial disclosures from legislators, public officials, and others within 90 days of leaving office * Requiring more details in financial disclosures * Requiring members of more executive branch boards to file financial disclosures

• Improves executive branch ethics laws by:

* Increasing requirements for public officials’ blind trusts * Specifying when a financial interest in a business is insignificant * Increasing restrictions on employment after leaving service in the executive branch * Barring political use of state aircraft except when that use is incidental * Requiring the governor, before granting executive clemency, to disclose any interest in the matter and obtain an ethics determination from the attorney general

• Improves legislative ethics laws by:

* Requiring ethics training * Increasing restrictions on gifts legislators and legislative employees may accept * Prohibiting legislators from receiving outside compensation for legislative, administrative, or political work

• Makes it a crime for public servants not to report bribery they know about
• Prohibits agreements to exchange campaign contributions to elected officials or candidates for changing their votes or positions on a matter

• Provides for forfeiture of certain pension contributions when an official is convicted of a felony such as bribery in connection with official duties

Governor Palin is expected to sign House Bill 109 in Juneau next week. (AK governor's website)

Fast forward to June 2009 and the picture is very different. I suppose transparency and accountability apply to everybody apart from Sarah Palin herself.

* Gov. Sarah Palin is telling the Alaska Public Offices Commission she doesn’t want to disclose the discount her husband, Todd, receives on purchases of Arctic Cat snowmachines. (ADN)

* Anchorage Republican Rep. Bob Lynn, a supporter of Gov. Sarah Palin’s, said he’s going to introduce a bill to stop ethics complaints against the governor or members of her staff from being publicly discussed unless the state finds they have merit.

“An ethics complaint filed against a legislator is confidential until it’s determined to have merit,” Lynn said in a written statement. “If the complainant breaches confidentiality, then the case is dismissed.”

Lynn said his bill would provide the same rule for complaints against the governor and all others who work in the state’s executive branch – talk about the complaint, and it’s dismissed. (ADN)

Sarah Palin seems to forget that the internet is a wonderful source of information. It's very easy to search and compare all her statements on any given topic. Her opinions change all the time, she moves between extremes depending on what favours her at any particular time.

The other day she used the word "evolve" in reference to comedians. Perhaps she herself is "evolving". Sarah Palin's position on ethics and transparency today is diametrically opposed to what it used to be before she lost the vice presidential bid and started eyeing the White House for herself...

From a speech at 2008 Republican National Convention Sep 3, 2008:

"No one expects us to agree on everything. But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and ... a servant’s heart.

This was the spirit that brought me to the governor’s office, when I took on the old politics as usual in Juneau ... when I stood up to the special interests, the lobbyists, big oil companies, and the good-ol’ boys network.

I came to office promising major ethics reform, to end the culture of self-dealing. And today, that ethics reform is the law." (Sarah Palin on the issues)

Sarah Palin has evolved into a fully fledged member of the good-ol’ boys network.

The only difference: she's an ol' gal.

The Sarah Palin transparency fund

Celtic Diva needs to raise money to access some e-mails to and from Sarah Palin's "transparent" administration. The price tag is incredibly high and they use their own incompetence to inflate the costs.

We can help! Click on the link to make a contribution to Diva's transparency fund and to learn more about her troubles and tribulations as a private citizen trying to get some answers regarding the ever so ethical and transparent governor.
