Sarah Palin "works her butt off" for non-existing halibut fishing business while filming reality show - UPDATE! Sarah confronted by Alaska teacher!

Sarah Palin recently entered into a "war of words and facts" with regarding the details of President Obama's tax cuts. On Thursday, in her most recent facebook post, Sarah published an angry rebuttal to the response of who had reacted to an earlier facebook post of Sarah Palin, where she accused of "being caught with their pants on fire."

Not surprisingly, didn't agree with Sarah's "pants on fire" claim and concluded: "We rate Palin's statement False."

In addition, it's also not surprising that Sarah holds a grudge against After all, they have crossed her before - and there is nothing the Quitter Queen hates more. In December last year, declared Sarah's invention of the infamous death panels as the "Lie of the Year". No wonder that Sarah is dying to get some pay back. ;-)

Sarah's last facebook message against ended on a "personal note" - in her classic fashion, Sarah thought it would be beneficial to stress again that she is from Alaska (did you know?), combined with a strong dose of snark:

(By the way, the Left sure gets wee-wee’d up when they’re called on something like this, eh? And here I am, thousands of miles away from DC out on a commercial fishing boat, working my butt off for my own business, merely asking the Democrat politicos and their liberal friends in the media: “What’s the plan, man?”, and they seem to feel threatened by my question. So, I’ll go back to setting my hooks and watching the halibut take the bait, and when I come back into the boat’s cabin in a few hours, I’ll log back on here to read their reply. I’ll have succeeded if they’re forced to finally reveal to Americans how they plan to increase taxes, and what they intend to do with our money. In the meantime, I’m catching fish.)

- Sarah Palin, in Homer, Alaska

You think that the media would take such comments by the proven liar Sarah Palin with a grain of salt. However, on the other hand, the media also apparently cannot afford to miss a good headline, and here we go:

Therefore it seems that it's up to the blogs to fact check Sarah Palin's statement once again.

She claims that she is fishing halibut in Homer, Alaska, for her family business.

This is what the fact checking team at Palingates has to say to that claim:

"We rate Palin's statement False."

Why is that? Sarah Palin's family owns a fishing business, don't they?

Yes, they do. It has a very original name as well: "Toad's Fisheries."

However, it's not a business for fishing halibut in Homer.

In Sarah's financial disclosure forms for 2009, 2008 and 2007, Sarah Palin explains precisely what the business does:

Yes, it's a business which is licensed for fishing salmon at Bristol Bay, via fish nets, based in Dillingham.

Not for fishing halibut, and not for fishing in Homer.

Sarah Palin's family would have needed a special license for fishing halibut, and Sarah would have been required to mention this in her financial disclosure forms.

So what is Sarah Palin actually doing in Homer these days?

"Homer News" knows:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited Homer this weekend to film segments of the TLC cable television show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska."

On Saturday morning she was at the fish dock and the Fish Pitchin' Kitchen. A small crowd gathered outside the Fish Pitchin' Kitchen after filming was done to get autographs and pose for pictures with Palin. Film crews were reticent when asked about what was going on, saying only that they were doing a documentary about Alaska.

So the Queen is filming, and posing with her former Alaskan subjects, and maybe posing with some fish. Well, that may be construed as working the business of Sarah Palin, notorious celebrity and media whore (in her words “working my butt off for my own business”), but that's not what we call working her butt off for the family’s fishing business, which is what she implied.

(Please note that the wording of the previous paragraph was changed in order to more adequately express what I wanted to convey.)

But since when does Sarah Palin ever tell the truth? Lies and inaccuracies, together with the insatiable urge to personalize her conflicts, are Sarah's constant companion, and she certainly will make sure that fact checkers will continue to be very busy in the near future.

Judging by her remarks on facebook, Sarah's reality show will be lacking "reality", too, also.

Shannyn Moore posted the video of Palin's encounter with protesters in Homer - and it's a real hit. I have always hoped that at some point we would get such a video in which Palin is being caught on tape in an unscripted, unfiltered "real life" moment, because you just know that she would make an utter fool of herself.

And the beauty is that in this clip not just Sarah Palin makes a fool of herself and shows parts of her "real face", but other members of her family do as well. In addition, Palin's typical bullying tactics are very well displayed here.

Kathleen Gustafson, a teacher from Homer, put up a huge sign saying "WORST GOVERNOR EVER." She then bravely engages Palin and her family in the conversation, and Kathleen Gustafson does an outstanding job in bringing across important points and keeping her cool. Thanks to her we get a unique view of the real Sarah Palin.

Todd and Willow are together with Sarah in this clip, not to forget the bodyguard who desperately tries to block the camera.

So Sarah claims not to be a celebrity, but she loves to be paid by celebrity magazines, loves to shoot her TV series together with other celebrities and loves to be shielded off by bodyguards, just like celebrities.

Sarah Palin knows that celebrities, whilst they are looked up to, their views are not taken seriously. Sarah wants you to take her seriously.

From the transcript, published by Shannyn Moore, the following parts stand out:

Palin: Here’s the deal. Here’s the deal. (inaudible) That’s what I’m out there fightin’ for Americans to be able to have a Constitution protected so that we can have free speech…And ALSO there…

Kathleen: In what way are you fighting for that?

Palin: Oh my goodness!

Kathleen: In what way?

Palin: To elect candidates who understand the Constitution, to protect our military interests so that we can keep on fightin’ for our constitution that will protect some of the freedoms that evidently are important to you too.

Kathleen: By using your celebrity status, certainly not by political status.

Willow: How is she a celebrity? That’s my question.

Palin: I’m honored! No, she thinks I’m a celebrity!

Willow: That’s funny that you think she is.

Kathleen: Well, you’re certainly not representing the state of Alaska any longer…even though…

Willow: She’s representing United States!
(in contrast to Shannyn's transcript, it is my impression that Willow was saying the last sentence as a statement of fact, not as a question)

So Sarah Palin regards as her most important job the protection of the "military interests" of the USA? Well, end times, here we come! Putin, watch out, here comes Sarah from Alaska!

I don't even want to think about how many wars Sarah Palin would start if she were to become President. That's how you fight the deficit!

Please note that I have uploaded another version of the clip with better audio. You can watch the clip HERE.

In addition, you can download the video file HERE and can watch it for example on Windows Media Player.

Screenshots from the video (in chronological order) - it's almost comical to see how Todd and the bodyguard are trying to block the camera. It's a real shame that they don't want the world to see the "real Sarah", without the filter of the evil liberal media.

It's great to see that this story is going viral. Media Matters picked it up, and the New York Magainze asks: "Did Sarah Palin Roll Her Eyes at Teaching?" Mediaite also reports the story.

Sarah Palin addressed the whole matter on Rebecca Mansour's facebook, and she insists that one thing should be abundantly clear: There can be no denying, and Sarah Palin severely rebukes the MSM/LSM for reporting this fact, that she definitely...

...when being told that the protester is a teacher.

Thank you, Sarah, for saving America once again from the evil liberal-socialist media, whose members do not hesitate to spread vicious rumors which are nothing but inventions. These far left subjects should be lucky to be able to live in America in the first place and have the freedom to publish her slanderous reports (and maybe the latter should be reconsidered once Sarah Palin becomes the US President, as it is God's wish).

This is her facebook post:

While filming the Alaska documentary in Homer, I had a brief discussion with a local lady who, in typical Alaska style, decided to give me her two cents worth about my political leanings, American politics in general, and much else besides. It’s what makes our politics so uniquely democratic: two people discussing the things they care about, even though they respectfully disagree about just about everything (you can watch a brief video of the encounter here).

The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.

One good thing to come out of this little episode, though, is that it helps to remind people once again that Alaska is a great state full of independent-minded people. I look forward to introducing you to some of them in the forthcoming documentary series on life in Alaska! The show will remind you to get outdoors, breathe in God’s creation, and taste the freedom!

- Sarah Palin

Let the world know that in no way should this "eye movement" by Sarah be remotely considered as eye rolling (in the clip from about 1:11):

Eyeroll compilation

But seriously:

This ridiculous facebook statement by Sarah Palin/RAM is just an obvious attempt to take the attention away from the inconvenient facts of this incident - for example the fact that Sarah's group reportedly tore Kathleen's banner down. Shannyn Moore wrote on Mudflats:

In what has become typical tragic irony, Sarah initially claimed to support Kathleen’s First Amendment Rights. But as soon as Billy Sullivan walked toward the dock, one of Palin’s entourage tore down the sign to great applause from her group.

Picture of the ripped down sign (courtesy of Shannyn Moore):

Homer - ripped down banner

Sarah Palin's loves her own freedoms, but she doesn't love the freedom of others who disagree with her. This is just one reason why Sarah Palin is the wrong person for ANY position of power.

The eyeroll that did not happen - make the factcheck:
