Safe churches

Reverend Fred Winters of the First Baptist Church in Illinois was gunned down during his Sunday sermon. He deflected the first of the gunman's four rounds with a Bible.

Last month, a man shot and killed himself in front of a cross inside televangelist Robert H. Schuller's Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. In November, a gunman killed his estranged wife in a New Jersey church vestibule as Sunday services let out.

In July, two people were killed and six wounded in a shooting rampage at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. An out-of-work truck driver who police say targeted the church for its liberal leanings pleaded guilty to the shootings and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Sarah Palin's Wasilla Bible Church was burned down by an arsonist a few months back.

Churches don't seem to be very safe places these days...

Adriana Huffington has a book that I'm reading and she claims that Right wing thought is based on the 'Limbic/Lizard brain of emotions/fear/survival vs. the logical thinking side of the brain.
Reading about these church killings and the RWingnuts in general, I would tend to agree with her.
Its pretty bad if you can't go to church in peace. But true people of God know, you don't have to go to church to find god!
