Sarah Palin's dad
Chuck Heath to the Spokesman:
“Sarah’s been out of town for almost a month now,” said Chuck Heath, “I don’t know exactly where she is, but she’s writing her book. She e-mails me quite frequently. She asks, ‘Oh, what happened on June 13, 1978?’ This is material for her book.”
Her e-mails to her dad, he said, have asked about “trivial things like maybe a basketball game, ‘How many points did I score here,’ ‘When did we go to the Boston Marathon?’ … Mainly sports.”
This is from an article Sarah Palin wrote about Chuck Heath during her gubernatorial campaign:
He was Wasilla High School's track, cross-country and freshman basketball coach. He never let me quit, no matter how badly it hurt or how the odds were stacked against his athletes. He taught "no pain, no gain... and, you reap what you sow... and there ain't no thing as a free lunch... and dig deep, push hard and fully rely on ROCK!"
(In our case, that ROCK would be God.)
"Mr. Heath is grandpa to 12 fortunate young Alaskans, having an especially unique bond with his autistic eight-year-old grandson. From the first born, Track, on down, to Bristol, Willow, Piper lndi, McKinley, Happy, Karcher, Lauden, Payton, Keir, Heath and Tico."
What happened there? "He never let me quit..."
What he said in an interview to the Idaho Statesman may explain it:
Q: Can you shed any light on Sarah Palin's decision to resign as governor?
Heath: "Whenever I'm with Sarah, we never talk politics. It's always family or sports, and it kind of caught me by surprise. All I really know is what I read in the newspaper, and you can't depend on a newspaper to get all the facts."
Hmmm...
Chuck and Sally Heath chose normal names for their children: Charles, Sarah, Heather and Molly. The new trend for weird names is not going to skip a generation, as Chuck Heath is now the proud great-grandfather of Trig and Tripp.
Maybe Sarah could include a chapter in her book explaining this interesting family quirk...

With all of Palins's children, I believe that they are named after something associated with their conception. Track: on the track (a hunting trip?); Bristol (easy one); Willow (a willow tree?); Piper? (don't they have an airplane with a similar name?). Trig? Was it a trigonometry problem? Not likely. More likely, in my opinion, 'trig' is short for 'trigger," so there may be an association with a hunting trip, but 'trigger' is the name of Roy Rodgers' horse, so 'trig' was a better choice.
It's Saturday!
I think Willow is another town in Alaska and it was said that Trig is from Trigg which is a Nordic family name?
Anyway- Do people really want to read about a 30 year old highschool basketball game ?? Is that what will be in this super fanatastic book ? How many points a bunch of dorky highschool girls bball players made? I dont remmember girls bball players being very smart,or very popular,or very nice.
I guess she just doesnt have any uplifting stories to tell.
Papa Heath is just creepy! to me.
OK, so if Sarah is out of town writing her book, how is it that she doesn't tell her own father where she is? Her kids are supposed to be in school as Wasilla schools began on August 17. So, is Todd once again at home watching the kids and grandkids? Is he back working on the slope? Is Bristol now the surrogate mom to all of them? What if there is a medical emergency with one of the babies or Piper or Willow?
What mother disappears and doesn't tell her won family where she is? Sorry, Papa Heath, not buying this one....
And what kind of a name is TICO? Is he a long lost member of the Jackson family?
She could write a book of quotes from her parents' fridge magnets...
Trig= great grandchild?
Hmmmmmm
The Sarahcuda meme has been covered adnauseum in previous biographies so there is no need for $arah to call Chuck for verification of trivial matters which she can lookup online even if she wishes.
My word verification is foly pit.
"He never let me quit"
Sounds like she wanted to quit back then, but was not allowed to.
If you believe Chucky does not know where she is.... I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you.
Can anyone in this family tell the truth?
Sarah in the picture with Franklin Graham looks 8 months pregnant...
I do wish she would stay with a book on sports only. She is dumb as moose poop but that is where she belongs. Some men will love the sexy older bimbo sport talk.
Papa Heath is creepy. She is good at working over creepy old guys.
She is a mother in name only. How could she be gone for a month when school starts?
If Todd's in charge we have another problem. I'm wondering if he's thought over his last position - I think it was in the People mag interview (Bristol on the cover) when he said he had never talked about sex with his daughter. If Mom's not around Todd, it's up to you.
Ah, Great-Grandpa Heath, my hero! Had it not been for his enthusiastic embellishment, repeating to reporters that Sarah said her water broke in Texas, Sarah might have succeeded with her pregnancy hoax. Sarah did not know he had already told reporters about the leaking amniotic fluids, and was clearly caught by surprise when she was interviewed. Then Sarah was trapped, because she had already told the reporter that she called CBJ at 4:00 am. She tried to avoid answering the question about the water breaking, but FORTUNATELY the reporter persisted by telling Sarah that her father had said it. Then Sarah ums, ahs, and stammers and is forced to embellish her concocted story further than she had rehearsed.

Thanks Chuck!
@ Virginiia Voter, What kind of person doesn't tell her own father where she is writing her book:
The same kind of person who didn't tell her mother that she was preganant until she was in her 7th month.
I don't think that we should count on Chuck Heath to be a reliable source of information. He is the one who informed us that Sarah's water had broken and she was (bravely) flying back 8 hours+ to Alaska to have a baby.
I don't think they put him in the loop, because whatever they do tell him comes out in a slightly different form.
This family is so dysfunctional they don't know they're dysfunctional. A woman--who lives in the same town as her father--resigns as governor and doesn't discuss the decision with him or even tell him? She goes off for a month and no one tells him where she is? Doesn't he see Todd or the kids? Did he not think to ask?
And why does she need to go out of town to write a book? I know lots of writers and they all write their books at home. I know ghost writers, too, and the usually procedure is to have the ghost writer travel to the home of whatever famous, illiterate idiot they're writing for. If you're writing a biography wouldn't you need to be home, where all your records are? Does she have her children with her or are they in school? If she doesn't have them with her, what kind of mom goes off and leaves her 7-8 year old for a month? Even her 15 year old? Smells really, really rotten.
These people are so weird they are creepy.
Here's a story for Sarah's book:
Sarah was sledding with some friends, wandered away from camp and stepped on a bear trap hidden by freshly fallen snow. Of course she started screaming, and her friends came running. They freed her, but were worried sick that she'd never play basketball again, because her leg would have to be amputated. They applied a tourniquet, bandaged up the wound, and for hours mushed through the eerie Alaskan twilight to reach a hospital; the dogs almost gave out for the strain. At the hospital, ER removed the tourniquet and bandages, but there was nothing wrong with Sarah's leg ... no bleeding, no gash where the trap bit into her, nothing! The tourniquet hadn't even caused any damage! It was a miracle, of course, and the proof of the miracle is that there was no damage to her leg.
Anon @ 17:55, LOL! So is that what happened on June 13, 1978??
Regina, a link did not come up for the “article” in this sentence:
“This is from an article Sarah Palin wrote about Chuck Heath during her gubernatorial campaign:”
OK - so she "disappears" from her state and no one (including her father) knows where she "is"?
What is she doing? Trying to get Governor Sanford's publicity?
Couldn't she have come up with something even remotely more original? Hiking the Appalachian Trail perhaps?
I still think she is "recovering" - whether it's rehab, or whether it's plastic surgery, anyone can write a book anywhere.
If you are smart enough to write a book to begin with.
Well that cleared THAT up didn't it?
[Chuck Heath is now the proud great-grandfather of Trig and Tripp]
How is this possible if our SP gave birth to Trig?
ProChoiceGrandma,
I've tested the link and it worked. It's a pdf file.
Nybody else having problems?
Oops! Anybody...
Those in Wasilla say that Chuck Heath demanded PERFECTION from Sarah. Guess she is still working on it. I really don't think that family is very close. Who leaves for a month and does not tell their own parents where they will be? That would be $arah, our Quitter Queen. Isn't it nice without the daily drama with Sean Parnell at the helm?
Let me put this out there. I am many inches taller than SP. I am older than SP. I went to a great small high school in the lower 48. I was a somewhat talented athlete, and my father had some coaching experience (my dad had played semi-pro in two sports). But I could NOT hack it as a serious female basketball player at the college level because I was not 5'10 or over.
SP is sooooo short. No one would have taken her as a serious threat on any high school basketball court, unless there just was such a poor level of competition in female sports in AK at the time she played. I mean, she's teeny-weeny.
The link works perfectly for me Regina.
Regina, I did finally get the link. Sorry for the interruption.
"He [Sarah's dad] wouldn't put up with my wimpy reasons why I couldn't thaw frozen fish egg bait in my mouth, like he does, when ice fishing." -- $Sarah
-----------------------------
So I went to an ice fishing advice site and read: "Do all of your prep work before leaving the warmth of your home or cabin. Simple things like tying on a lure [OR THAWING YOUR BAIT!!!] are considerably more difficult out on the ice at 20 below."
Here's a link, reviewing the who's-your-daddy '.pdf': http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/shades_of_lipstick.php?page=all
There is also some info about $arah avoiding public appearances back then.
She is incredibly deceitful. Relying on people's ignorance, laziness.
You have to wonder why Chuck Heath is all of a sudden thrust into the political spotlight with the Daddy's campaign trek in the lower 48. With the many gaffes he made as a private person, SP should be scared to death about what he may utter now.
His parenting style of drill sergeant family management is probably responsible for some of the enigmas concerning SP. Maybe she is going through counseling now in connection with writing her book. That could help her straighten some of the stuff out.
Great article link anonymous @ 20:23.
Make sure you press the link that takes you to the ADN article that has a copy of the email. The comments are VERY interesting. Here's some examples:

No doubt you and Sue
are looking into Palin's campain expenditures as closely? Trying to create an issue where is none? A little sleight of hand? Yes, because it deflects attention from meatier topics like Palin's meltdown in Girdwood with some union stewards or her absence meeting with the Native Corp CEO's--all due to unpreparedness? Boy, that gives me confidence in her.

What did happen?
Since the Anchorage Daily News has its reporters on far more impactful, important issues such as, um... well... feline ownership spats and the like, there has been precious little reporting on the governor's race (for shame). Pray tell, what did happen in Girdwood at Palin's meeting with union leaders? I've seen this meeting/meltdown referenced on numerous blog entries but don't know what occurred. Does anyone know?
October 16, 2006 - 9:41pm | opal
I heard
Knowles and Palin were guest speakers at the Shop Steward Leadership conference in Girdwood. Once Knowles began speaking Palin realized the event wasn't what she thought it was. Caught off guard and unprepared she was heard bawling out a staffer over the phone. Apparently when it was her time to speak, Palin composed herself and made it through her speech. Anyone else have more details??

Meltdown at IBEW
Reportedly Palin expected 15-20 people at a meeting and when she showed up and there were 200 she went into the restroom, screamed at her staff, and burst into tears. My friends in attendence were not impressed at all, and they were undecideds.
VERY INTERESTING...
Okay here is the direct link to the ADN article I referenced above:

IF SHE IS GOVERNOR SHE WON'T ALWAYS HAVE 'TIME TO PREPARE'
...how well can you think on your feet?
It is very relevant that Candidate Palin seems to be 'cherry picking' her appearances.
If a candidate doesn't know all the answers, that's okay. People are very accomodating to candidates who say they don't know something, but show an interest in the subject and provide a general response while promising 'to get back' on that issue.
It is critically important to show up. That is a matter of showing 'respect'.
I feel sorry for Sarah. I think she is getting some lousy advice from a gaggle of advisors who think that the campaign is all about 'looking good' or image control.
Sarah should follow her instincts and her heart and ignore all the clammoring voices vying for her attention.
Hmpft...looks like the woman hasn't changed a bit. Note the "promise to get back" phrase. That's why she said that to Katie Couric, she's been using that for awhile.
Here is a snippet from the Alaska Dispatch, which seems to be written a little earlier than the article cited in Regina's post:
________________________
What is known is that Palin isn't at home in Wasilla.
"I don't even know where she is right now,'' her father, Chuck Heath, said this week from his home near hers in the big valley north of Anchorage.
He hasn't heard from his daughter in three weeks. His wife, Sally, who is temporarily in the Pribilof Islands, which are closer to Russian than to America, has been in email contact with Sarah, Heath added, but "my wife wouldn't tell me where (Sarah) was because she was afraid I'd blab it around."
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/news/politics/1685-the-road-back-to-nowhere
But it looks like they realize Chuck likes to talk, so they are trying to keep things from him. Hmmmmm....
If Sarah HEATH Palin was with the person writing her book, somebody Vincent who is a partner of the other McCain, someone would know. It is easy to find out if Vincent is at home and doing what she does. Todd, babysitters, children would be seen. There would be a statement now that it is known she is MIA. I think they would write the memoirs closer to the HEATH/PALIN homes. Unless there are other agendas going on. I don't see how she could be hiding in San Diego. It is close to Hollywood plastic surgeons. Could the entourage sneak around and not be spotted? Photos would be getting top dollar now that they are acting like celebrities who cry "I vant to be alone."
The father of the village idiot has no idea where she is? He is too much of an idiot to be trusted with top secrets.
The world knows she does not write the Facebook. No twitters from her. What is she up to? Why pretend on Facebook to be writing? Why the secrecy?
The soap opera is all she has left, she can get noticed but please stop pretending to be shaping policy. She and McCain have already ruined the GOP. I'd like to help the NRA run him out of town or out of state. I want to see him get all that he has coming. Ask Nancy about him. Nancy is a senile kook to let Sarah and McCain defile her husbands memory as she is doing with her silence. They are showing the world it is easy to take advantage of the elderly. In the history books the once classy ladies of Simi Valley are going down the same black pit. GOP irrelevancy.
NakedTruth, I agree, Chuck Heath is creepy. What sort of person says, 'kids are always losing their underwear' in response to the clothes issue for Piper during Wardrobegate ? Lots of people use codespeak to communicate. I won't come right out and say so,
but there is a certain segment of the adult population to whom that statement would definitely be codespeak. I have good reason to be creeped out,
as my father would recognize the hidden meaning
behind those words. If that is the case, Miss Sarah has my sympathy but not my support.
Virginia Voter said exactly what I wanted to when she posted, "And what kind of a name is TICO? Is he a long lost member of the Jackson family?"
And here is Myron Floren of the "Lawrence Welk Show" playing "Tico Tico" on the accordion!:
