Sarah Palin going to irrelevant celebration (update)
Gov. Sarah Palin is coming to Auburn June 6.
The Alaskan governor and former Republican vice presidential candidate will travel to Auburn for what the city organizers call Founders Day, which this year will celebrate 50 years of Alaskan statehood.
It's not clear where else in New York Palin might visit.
"Auburn is the anchor," Meghan Stapleton said. "We're still trying to decide her schedule. "We're coming to Auburn because of the direct celebration of Alaska and the role of Auburn's William Seward. The governor is absolutely excited."
The date has no historical significance for Auburn or Alaska. Alaska became a state in January 1959; Seward Day, an Alaskan state holiday, falls on the last Monday in March.
Is Sarah Palin going to this "do" just to be nice to Meghan Stapleton?
Stapleton's father, Auburn lawyer T. David Stapleton, sits on the board of the Seward House in Auburn, and wrote the invitation on behalf of the city and the Seward House.
Good old Meg does a lot of speaking on behalf of the governor. That's the least Sarah could do... before she throws Meg under the bus, of course...
I'm sure Sarah Palin is absolutely excited about something else, though.
UPDATE: Why did AuburnPub.com say Sarah Palin had declined the invitation less than one week ago?
I'm getting a headache...

Anyone want to start a pool on:
1) Which excuse she'll use to back out? and 2) Who she will send in her place: Todd, Bristol, Sean P., or ??
Palin ignored Juneteenth in her own state but is attending this bogus celebration in New York?
Yep...increasingly irrelevant... but always hypocritical and politically dense.
New York.... HMMM.... I wonder who or what is there, and I wonder who or what is close by, and I wonder who will pay for this trip, and will she take per diem for it, and have her family travel with her?
Enquiring minds want to know!
I hope there won't be any pesky reporters or bloggers there asking questions, also, too.
Wow, and I'd just read a few days ago that she wasn't going to be going... She must have changed her "mind", again!
Oh yeah, I'd read it in a link to something from Auburn (was just reminded by looking at the blog on the ADN): http://www.auburnpub.com/articles/2009/05/15/latest_news/8latestnews.txt
Get your story straight much, GINO?
I feel a little catty and off topic:
Someone got a little heavyhanded with the blusher in that pic...
...and I hope no one ever told Sarah Palin when she was a little girl getting her ears pierced, that she has "monkey ears"...
I know, that was an awful thing to say.
But they are such a weird shape that some conspiracy theorist during the election campaign actually thought she was wearing a flesh-colored earpiece in her ear, when all it was, was that huge open space on the outside of her ear canal.
Another conspiracy theory debunked! It's just her EARS!
Actually, I think her ears are a great asset. Not too many women could display them so well.
I have a headache too Regina. It's unreal how many stupid things this bimbo does in a week.
Kajo some of my favorite relatives are monkeys, please, let's not go there. The shoes are enough, no monkey deserves to be aligned with a Palin.
Hey she's Alaska's problem and I think we owe the progressive bloggers a HUGE thanks for keeping us posted on the MAJOR LOSER who's wrecking their state and sending all that nummy stimulus money our way.
OMG she forgot the drugged baby!!
