Sarah Palin philosophy
Here are a few things Sarah Palin said during her campaign for governor, from the official campaign website:
PHILOSOPHY IN GOVERNING - I look forward to building a team that will put Alaskans first! I believe in fairness and inclusion and will call on the public to work together for Alaska's common good. I refuse to use divisive tactics that polarize us for political gain. As Mayor of Wasilla, the fastest growing area of Alaska; as President of the Alaska Conference of Mayor; as Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission; and as a business owner and mom, I approached issues with a fair, balanced, common sense approach. I love the challenge of hiring and appointing the best people to serve with me and I will bring this positive approach to Alaska as Governor. In building a public service team, my commitment to my home state is to always put Alaskans first and never allow special interests to take advantage of us. I know that government has its place, and it should be limited. My focus is on education, public safety, infrastructure and access to our resources. As manager of our vast public resources, the Governor must act as an effective CEO on behalf of all Alaskans in negotiating the best deals for the state, and I am prepared to tackle that challenge.
Let's look at some of the statements:
I refuse to use divisive tactics that polarize us for political gain.
Troopergate? Appointing a Republican to the Juneau Senate seat? W.A.R.? No, Sarah Palin is not divisive at all...
I love the challenge of hiring and appointing the best people to serve with me and I will bring this positive approach to Alaska as Governor.
We've noticed how much she loves to appoint her cronies to "serve" with her, but wouldn't go as far as saying they're the best people.
My focus is on education...
Why did Sarah Palin try to refuse the stimulus money for education? When cornered into accepting it, she wanted to replace the state education dollars with the federal money, what kind of focus is that?
From the page "About Sarah", one of her quotes:
“Alaskans deserve transparency and accountability from their leaders. It’s a philosophy I will promote as Governor." ~ Sarah Palin
It seems Alaskans didn't look very closely at her years as mayor of Wasilla before voting Sarah Palin into office as governor.
"Transparency" and "accountability" were hallmarks of her style back then.
The building of her house in Lake Lucille was shrouded in transparency: Sarah Palin blocked an effort to require the filing of building permits, so to this day we don't know who built it.
When challenged about spending more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office without the council's authorization, Sarah Palin replied: "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't."
Documents show that Sarah Palin used city computers in her mayor's office to manage her campaign for lieutenant governor and billed taxpayers for mailings, phone calls and literature.
Sarah Palin hasn't changed at all. She's still as ethically challenged now as she was then. The same goes for being polarizing. She uses whatever soundbites seem appropriate for the occasion.
Since being catapulted into the national scene in the vice presidential campaign, Sarah Palin's every step is being monitored more carefully and all her contradictory statements quickly brought to the attention of the voting public.
Sarah Palin's soundbites are becoming less and less effective as she "progresses" her political agenda. They echo the emptiness of her philosophy in governing...
Maybe the book deal will take her away from Alaska and she'll decide not to run for a second term in 2010. We can only hope Sarah Palin will be very successful as an "author" and dedicate the rest of her life to writing, leaving politics in the hands of better qualified, ethical people.

Nice composition with the picture... seems like Sarah is looking over at her statements and thinking, "Oh! Did I really say that! You betcha I didn't mean it."
Sometimes she seems like she's actually trying to be dishonest and hypocritical.
All that, and she has a volunteer army of hundreds of people who think exactly the same way she does, who go out and pollute the blogosphere by parroting Palin's soundbites and praising her peculiar world view.
Sarah Palin and her followers are the distillation of the worst of politics and religion unfortunately melded together -- in contradiction of the spirit of the First Amendment of the US Constitution as upheld by the US Supreme Court.
Republican neocons well deserve being called "repugnant".
"Seems"? Not really. She has a personality disorder and she is disorganized. She can't track her thoughts. She is paranoid and she is a psychopath. She has no conscience and rules do not apply to her.
She's a pathologic mess and a psychiatrist's dream patient.
The worst thing is that she probably untreatable. Psychopathy does not respond to therapy or medication. She will only get worse and her actions may become even more violent when anyone tries to stop her.
If she doesn't constantly get her way, she will very likely become destructive.
This is the brain on drugs.
Nicely said KaJo.
I want this women to run for Pres in 2012 - no really. She can't get more than 5% in the Repubic popularity polls but she is so egomaniacal, she doesn't see it.
She and her flying monkeys are truly sickening human beings. Being a flash-in-the-pan for a few years is about the best she can do. She has lied to all of her constituents and I'll bet she pays her bots.
She probably gets the money from all those "free" endorsements she makes. The woman is a walking billboard. Ethics? She couldn't spell it or pronounce it.
By the way, what IS this supposed iceberg that is coming her way?
I hope it's big and crushes her because watching her go to pieces and get hauled away in a straightjacket will be fun.
Sarah Palin replied: "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't."
Well she's certainly getting lawyer'ed up and doing her best to fight the courts so she can do what ever she wants.
Nice mentality don't you think, for a political leader. Speaks volumes in it's actions.
"Author"! ha ha ha
Grifter is more fitting. How long before her legal fund gets moved to the Cayman Islands?
Keep going, Sarah. There won't be enough lawyers in the country once your beloved "feds" catch up with you!
Eeeeew!!!
Over on Mudflats somebody posted a link to the Juneau Empire story about how the 'conservative Palin fans/wingnuts' started the whole controversy with the tour bus situation and showed a timeline of how it all took place. And it seemed to start and gain momentum only AFTER Palin made her snarky remarks to the Press and the FANS ran with it. it's a good read.

Check out Celtic Divas story on the big-hitting lawyer she seems to just have added to her arsenal...
I love that we live in a time when it is possible for videos as well as published documents to be recorded and referred to in the future. Those clips of her interview with Katie Couric will dog her to her death, and she is leaving a clear record for future generations of how a NPD was able to attain a moderately high degree of power in a pre-educated society.
Doesn't this phrase sound suspiciously like Faux News?
"I approached issues with a fair, balanced, common sense approach."
Sarah's words and reality just don't ever seem to intersect.
I am on vacation but still had to take a quick peak at my favorite blogs. I agree with everyone and what they said!! Another good post Regina.
Palin really is a psychopath. Those statements she made are so far from reality! Has she ever been fair-minded? I haven't seen it. I hope the iceberg is crushing. I don't know what is. Is there something new out there about it? I hope it's not all hot air.
EMILY, YA THINK ? DUH !
"Sometimes she seems like she's actually trying to be dishonest and hypocritical."
Did you think this was all just coincidental?
OK I have to say it. SP is growing jowls.
She appears to be taking after her "biggest" fan, Limpballs.
She doesn't actually govern - she simply issues orders and pretends that she knows what she is doing.
When she accepted the VP nomination, she made a huge mistake. But that's what egomaniacal psychopaths do. And now everyone knows what she really is.
Everything she said on the campaign trail will haunt her. She is quite literally, toast and Republic toast at that.
It will be interesting watching this whole thing play out. She never did figure out that she left breadcrumbs every time she opened that big mouth and spewed word salad.
From the throbbing heartland of politics, Washington, D.C., it has been both instructive and entertaining to see how the nucleus of Republicans have been, shall we say, holding their petticoats away from SP. McCain didn't name SP as one of the GOP's future "leaders." Neither did Romney, or Eric Cantor, or Huckabee.
Only Jabba the Rush, who has oodles of time to fill, and has never been discreet about what turns him on (eccchhh!), still extols SP.
I agree with all the comments above: People with borderline personality disorder, narcissism, and other diagnoses that fall under the category of psychopathology, really cannot be treated. The best that can be done is to keep the individual from inflicting too much harm on other people. Once GINO retires from public life, the victims will once again be primarily only her family.
A number of people have noted that they hope Willow will write a book some day. (I refrained until now from snarking that I hope she'd READ a book some day.) However, she seems to be, from what we know, the least messed-up of GINO's kids. I hope WP gets away, in a safe fashion--to college, to work--and finds a good therapist. Those of us who have been in the crosshairs of psychopaths are capable of making a healthy life for ourselves, if we can make the break from our abusers. Takes one to know one... anyway, that's my Monday-dawn assessment. Ta, y'all!
I wonder how she will handle the Legislature being in session next spring with 'her' book coming out next spring... Aren't you supposed to make a book tour (signing your books, making speeches (YIKES!) etc, when your book is published, so it will sell? Wonder what kind of fancy footwork they will show on this one!
To MrsTBB, I too wonder about Willow. but if I really look at it objectively without the impressions and stories we make in our own minds after looking at pictures, the truth is we really know (publically) very little about her. We rarely have heard her in her own voice and she has had much less focus from the press, the pundits, the blogs etc. than her siblings. We really don't know her at all. And saying that it is neither a good thing or a bad thing. We just really don't know.
